Politics / Re: Tony Aziegbemi: Kidnappers Of Edo PDP Chairman Demand N500m Ransom by gbengayandipo20: 6:55pm On Mar 25
Listen to yourself. Tell me any state in Nigeria where kidnapping has not taken place including your Balablu Aso Rock where Wike is their CSO. Edo has been safe reason the chairman doesn't use security men. PDP obaseki is doing well in Edo without noise and in all sectors. Asue Ighodalo is everybody's choice in the coming election because he's the best.

They’re after all the 'consultation kola' & 'thank you for coming' that aspirants have dropped for him. PDP Chairman in a PDP State?? If this is not a clear indication that that State cannot continue with that Party, I wonder what is!
Politics / Re: Edo: Prominent Obidient, Nwaokobia Endorses Asue Ighodalo, Gives Reasons by gbengayandipo20: 6:11pm On Mar 25
Asue Ighodalo is the best candidate. He has demonstrated his intellectual capacity, political sagacity and economic know how that we need to overcome the quagmire that APC has caused our nation. Technologically too Asue is the best because Edo has gone digital already and can't go back to Analog. For fairness and justice it's Asue Ighodalo.

Never. Asue Ighodalo is the next governor. He has demonstrated leadership qualities in all aspects before and even now. Akpata only demonstrated arrogance. For fairness, competence, capacity and character, it's Asue Ighodalo

Education / Governor Obaseki Shares Edo's Education Reforms' Success Story In London by gbengayandipo20: 10:23pm On Mar 24
*Obaseki shares Edo’s education reforms’ success story at LSE Africa Summit in London*

_*…dazzles global leaders, participants with impact of EdoBEST programme, others*_

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, at the weekend, dazzled global and business leaders, policymakers and other participants at the LSE Africa Summit 2024 in London, United Kingdom, with the impact of his administration’s education sector reforms, reeling out how these reforms in the past seven and half years have improved learning outcomes, especially at the foundational level, tackling learning poverty.

The event was held with the theme, “African Minds Transforming Futures: Building Resilient Education Systems.” Obaseki who was a keynote speaker at the forum dazzled the participants with his lecture on, “The Future of Education in Africa: The Role of African Players in Advancing Education in Africa.”

Obaseki, while reiterating the need to sustain investment in education to effectively harness the potential and resourcefulness of Africa’s youthful population, said the continent’s youths hold the key to its sustainable growth and development.

“By 2050, Africa will have at least 33 percent of the global youth population and this population holds the key to shaping our world, our culture, and politics, among others. This gives us immense opportunity to reshape the world. However, a bulk of this population could become a liability if we do not invest in them.”

“So, on one hand, we have this asset that holds the key to Africa’s future and development, and on the other hand is the challenges. I believe that if we have the political will and make strategic investments, build a resilient and dynamic education system, prioritize skills development to address global challenges, and encourage innovation and inclusive governance, we stand a very good chance of resolving and tackling these challenges.”

While identifying obstacles to improving education and youth development in the continent, the governor listed poor infrastructure, lack of teacher training, poverty level and digital divide in accessing necessary technology for education as major obstacles.

He stated, “So if we must build a resilient education system in the region, we must understand that education should not just be seen as constructing buildings and classrooms. It is more about igniting curiosity, fostering critical thinking, and empowering young minds to reach their full potential. We must focus on nurturing the flames of knowledge and inspiration transcending mere bricks and mortar.”

Sharing success stories of the State’s education sector reforms, Obaseki noted, “We had a unique experience when we came on board. We had a huge challenge in terms of education. Edo State at the time was a prime source for human trafficking and illegal migration. Between 2016 and 2017, we had more than 30,000 young Edo boys and girls who had got themselves to Libya to cross over to Europe.

“Our children were significantly underperforming academically; teachers needed more encouragement, support and modern tools and techniques; schools were not properly managed and there was no community ownership of basic education. At the time, the government lacked real-time concrete data for policy making and interventions.”

He added, “We knew we needed to create and strengthen our education ecosystem focusing on foundational learning, on the basis of access, inclusion, and quality control.

“We focused on system strengthening and organizational development, making the institutions stronger to drive these reforms. We also knew that the key to education is teaching. So, we prioritized teachers’ professional development and quality assurance. We also concentrated on curriculum development and learning outcomes as well as community engagement and partnerships, while paying critical attention to school infrastructure and facilities.”

The Governor noted that these efforts and reforms over the past seven and half years have repositioned the State among the top five education accelerator sub-nationals in Africa with radical changes that have positively transformed the education ecosystem.

According to organisers of the LSE Africa Summit, “As Governor, Mr. Obaseki is at the forefront of re-enacting Governance in Nigeria and a strong proponent for the use of technology in Government to deliver efficient services to the people. Today, he leads the only State in Nigeria that has fully adopted e-Governance, ensuring that Government correspondences are paperless.

“His innovative policies/programs include the Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation ‘EdoBEST’, tackling learning poverty through technology, and utilizing public-private partnerships to enhance investment, promote industrialization, and stimulate economic growth in the State.

“He spearheaded the Edo State Oil Palm Programme, positioning Edo as frontrunners in oil palm production in Africa. Additionally, Mr. Obaseki created The Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, a state-of-the-art facility supporting film and music production to boost opportunities within the creative industry.”

Because obaseki doesn't blow trumpet, have you heard of 105km Benin Abraka road being constructed by obaseki when NDDC failed to honour the joint agreement because the road is a federal road connecting Delta and Edo? Agbede road in Oshiomole local government is 29km done by obaseki in his first term, Irhirhi - Ogheghe to Ogbekpe to Rubber research is about 30km done by obaseki in his first term and many others but beyond road obaseki has brought OSSIOMO power of 95megawatts and has been distributing power since 2021, obaseki brought two Modular refineries, Edo modular refinery and Duport refinery, Ethanol plant at Ologbo, another Ethanol plant at PRIMA FOOD in Ovia North East LGA, Auchi Fertilizer plant, first Edo ShopRite etc

Politics / Obaseki Civil Service And Other Reforms Should Be Sustained by gbengayandipo20: 8:54am On Mar 08
The Dangerous Mosquito Vibes 💯... EdoFirst.... Edo Civil Service Reform.

...Gov Obaseki led Administration is finishing Well...

Some Benefits of the Civil Service Reforms By Governor Godwin Obaseki led Administration.

1) The Edo State Civil Servant is the best paid civil servant in Nigeria today. The minimum wage in Edo State is 40k. In other states and the FG it is 30k. Many states in the federation are actually struggling to pay 30k as minimum wage. Ours is 33.3 percent higher.

2) The civil servant in Edo State gets paid his salaries on or before the 26th of every month without fail. Most other states are in arrears.

3) The civil servant in Edo receives a 13th month salary in December. Many federal and state workers are yet to receive their Dec 2023 salaries not to talk of double salaries for that month.

4.) Edo is the only state in Nigeria today where January 2024 promotions have been approved. Most other states are in several months and in some cases, years of arrears of promotion.

5) All workers in Edo State Public Service are life insured. When a worker dies, his beneficiaries receive the death benefits within weeks of his demise. This does not happen in other states.

6) Every worker in the Public Service of Edo State is on health insurance. Check out the impact of this on them by simply going to the secretariat and sampling opinions.

7) The above are some benefits of the reform efforts. No civil servant who enjoys these unprecedented benefits will speak ill of the system. The reforms cut across all sectors with new PHCs and well equipped health facilities, Judiciary, Agric, technology, education, entertainment, tourism etc.

Let's support an incoming administration who will continue with the determination to sustain ongoing reforms, while building more....

Vote Asue Ighodalo for an Assured and better Edo come September 2024.

Let's Vote wisely.. I come in peace 🦟💯

It doesn't mean that it must take off immediately and supply all the areas, it's stage by stage. Edo state 95megawatt OSSIOMO power of Obaseki was test runned in November 2020 and has been working till now with willing customers connecting but was commissioned recently in December 2023.
Education / Edo Lady Breaks Guinness World Record In A 200hr Read Aloud Marathon by gbengayandipo20: 2:54pm On Mar 07
*Guinness World Record: Obaseki assures support for youths, hails Osariemen for marathon reading attempt*

_*… cheers Osariemen as she reaches 207 hours, advocates more support*_

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said his government will continue to prioritize young people in the State, ensuring they are adequately empowered and equipped with the right skills and tools to realize their full potential.

Obaseki said this when he led other government functionaries to the Edo State Library Complex, at the State Secretariat, Benin City, to cheer Osariemen Angel Asein, an indigene of the State who is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest marathon reading aloud by an individual.

As at the time of the governor’s visit, Osariemen Asein, who kicked off the attempt on February 23, 2024, has read for 207 hours, surpassing the current 145-hour Guinness World Record for the longest marathon reading aloud.

Obaseki was accompanied by his wife, Betsy; Special Adviser on Media Project, Crusoe Osagie; Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare; Commissioner for Digital Economy, Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor; Commissioner for Education, Joan Osa-Oviawe and the Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Uyi Jennifer Oduwa-Malaka, among others.

Speaking to journalists, the governor said the vision of Osariemen aligns well with what his administration has done in the State in the last seven years, developing the reading culture of our young ones and re-enacting the education system, particularly basic education.

He said, “I am very excited and it's gratifying for me to see one of our own, Osariemen Angel Asein attempting to break the Guinness World Record in reading. It's just ties in with what we have preached and the work we have done in the State in the last seven years, trying to re-enact education, particularly basic education, and develop the reading culture of our young ones and children in this State.

“It’s quite pleasing to see one of them trying to take it to another level, letting the world see how well Edo young people are doing; how aspirational and globally competitive they have become. I believe that there can't be a greater reward for our administration than what this young lady is doing. I am asking all of you to support her in this quest as we are here to support her as she has broken the world record in reading; what a record to break! it's quite gratifying and fulfilling.”

Obaseki who also received Prof. Demas Nwoko, one of Africa’s greatest architects at the library to support the aspiration of Osariemen Asein, commended him for his architectural work across the globe.

He noted that Edo State has also benefited from Prof Nwoko’s architectural work as Oba Akenzua Cultural Center is one of his works.

Obaseki noted, “Here we have Prof. Demas Nwoko, most people may not realize he is one of Africa’s greatest architects; he is joining us here today. One of his seminar works is the Oba Akenzua Cultural Center which is one of the 1001 buildings you must see in this world before you die.

“He is here in Edo State with us as Osariemen read from one of his books. He is here to see one of his works, the Oba Akenzua Cultural Center which we are going to finally try to complete and make it part of the cultural district which we are building for people to come and see.”

In addition, the Edo State Ministry of Education through its EdoBest Programme launched the Book and Art Festival with the maiden theme, “Every Child a Reading Champion.”
