When some of say the Northerners are foolish, some of us who have travelled all through the North 'll say " I wish my people know" the Northerners are very very good with politics. Take it or leave it. I once showed a colleague @work an aerial close range view of Kaduna, she said "its a lie" and I told her "sit down there". Guy, the northerners aren't as greedy as we are. I 'll give u guys some instances; When Buhari, from Daura in Katsina was the PTF boss, he made sure he executed mega projects all over the north. Not concentrating in Katsina only. FYI, the northern parts of Nigeria have the best road network. Ninety percent of the northerners who advocated for a petroleum refinery in Kaduna, where north from Kaduna but from Niger and Sokoto. National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), the only on Western and Central Africa was made a reality from IBB but cited in JOS. The list is quite much. This is the secret, they have made all Nigerians believed that they are the most educated. Hence, claim they are the most intelligent. So when they release 200 first class and 3500 2.1 from a single graduating set, you won't question them. Its also a way of watering the soil for them in the labour market. So bro, all na sense and psychology. Is just like the North making you believe that the are more in number compare to any other region in naija. So when they say " we are greater in number" on a census scale you will think twice when u want to question them. All na make believe. I work with quite a number of 2.1 from the South-West. Hmmm! I don't see Nigeria disintegrating. After so much ranting about SNC, two weeks back as reported by Vanguard, 92 Northern elders said they were ready for the conference. Till now, the earlier agitators for the conference have kept mute. They don't even want to talk about it again. Before then, SNC was all over the print media. In the electronic media, Channels TV was always in the fore-front of airing the urgent call for it. Sincerely, these few days, I have repeatedly asked myself about the sudden silence from our Southern elders. I didn't feel too good about the lack of guts to follow up the 92 Northern elders call for it. Are they scared after a long deep thought? On the other hand, I feel they are seeing what we are not seeing. Personally, I think it will be very difficult for Nigeria to break up. Every part of Nigeria is important if we think deep. If not for Boko Haram nonsense. One more thing. I think the Yorubas don't really support this whole idea of disintegration. I have stylishly sought after their opinions and all they kept telling was "me I no dey sure". "Who wan die". "If fight start nko". "If fight start, I go enter Togo or Benin Republic" etc. So you see? In the event that what is happening in Sudan now raises its ugly head after SNC, I see only the Igbos, South-South and the Middle Belt standing to put up a strong fight on the condition that the Middle Belt is carried along. Although, I as a person don't see Nigeria breaking up. The Multinationals like MTN, DSTV etc wouldn't want this to happen either. If you know what I mean. |

The call for National Conference has received several reactions, including opposition, from Nigerians. Those opposed to a National Conference fall into three main categories: Those who subscribe to the doctrine of “settled issues”, those who say it would be used to dismantle the Nigerian state and those who believe that it is aimed at further weakening the stranglehold of the North on the nation. What holds us together is a chain binding us in bondage, not a cord holding us together as one. In a united country there should be no “settler” and no “indigene”; there would simply be Nigerians enjoying equal rights of citizenship and protection wherever they reside and whatever their religion. The so called democracy, as it stand, does not reconcile our differences, but rather exacerbates them abnormally. Election, particularly the type whose process does not belong to the people but to a cartel of godfathers, is not the same as democracy. In which “democracy” would a few tin gods sitting in Abuja decide who contests a primary election in a state, or who contests election in a local government? Our federalism is so only in name written in blood. Those who tout this lie simply ignore history. Major General Johnson Thomas Umunnakwe Aguiyi-Ironsi was killed in 1966 ostensibly because of Decree 34 of 1966 which unified the services in the then federation. Ironsi’s killers stated that “the basis for Nigerian unity is not there”! Thereafter, those who killed Ironsi and waged a genocidal war on Eastern Region went ahead to stifle what was left of Nigeria with extreme centralisation because it suited them. They never contemplated a day the shoe will be on the other foot! Somebody who had no shoes is now wearing the shoes! Evidently, it did not take a National Conference to weaken the stranglehold of the North on the nation. In a country where a band of terrorists will be throwing crude bombs, cowardly killing worshippers in churches, slaughtering sleeping women and children, and robbing banks to fund their terrorism simply because a Nigerian citizen from the “wrong side” of the country exercised a right which should be taken for granted in a “united” “democratic” “federation”, gives the lie to the doctrine of “settled issues”. After a long talk and shying away from the realities of sovereign national conference, last week, about 92 northern elders made it crystal clear that they were ready for a “round table talk”. In other words, they said they were ready for the long talked about and dreaded sovereign national conference. I expected a follow up from the earlier agitators to make the holding of the conference fast without further delay. If the breaking up of Nigeria is likely inevitable, why don’t we start the fragmentation process from now. I see logic in this as all fragmented part would have gotten use to independence before 2015. |
