Yeah but don't be surprised if it is still seen as such in Nigeria o
oaroloye: This is called "Obsessive Compulsive Behavior."

I know that most Nigerians will not have gotten this, but I guarantee you that this boy has never seen a live girl, without her clothes on, in his entire life.

There is no way that he has a girlfriend, or that there is some girl in his school who likes him.

There was a time when that was respected as a good thing.
PoliticsAiling Governor Sullivan Chime Of Enugu State Arrives Nigeria! by gboyetade(op): 2:27pm On Feb 07, 2013
After over 130 days (4 months) of hide-and-seek concerning the health status and whereabouts of Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, southeast Nigeria, the governor who is believed to be sick, is back in the country.

He arrived Abuja this morning as confirmed by the state Commissioner for Information Chuks Ugwoke who further said he is expected in Enugu state later today and that preparations were on in the state to receive him.

Ugwoke, who made the confirmation through a telephone interview this morning on Channels Tv, however, insisted that the governor went on vacation against the popular belief that he was treating cancer.

Governor Chime of Enugu State, arrives Nigeria this morning

The commissioner who made efforts to convince Nigerians during the interview, further defended the governor’s disappearance from the country, saying the Nigerian constitution did not specify the number of days a governor could spend on vacation.

“There’s no reason to hide why he was away, he went on leave, he was on vacation and the constitution does not state what time the governor must spend.

“You can use your vacation to do some other things. During his vacation, he had the advantage and opportunity to do some other things he deemed necessary,” the commissioner stressed.

He said the governor’s sudden appearance in the country had put paid to the falsehood being spread by the opposition in the state.

Ugwoke also denied that the state was paralysed because of the absence of Governor Chime. According to him, the governor had handed over to his deputy, Sunday Onyebuchi, who had been acting in that capacity awarding contracts and keeping the state running.
He said the state Executive Council held six meetings since the governor’s absence against the popular belief that the acting governor was not in charge.

“People are entitled to their views concerning how the health status of the governor was handled.

“The good news is that the governor is back and we should refuse to go back to yesterday.

“He is in Nigeria. He landed in Abuja and we are expecting him in Enugu,” he said.

The Vice President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Issa Aremu, who was in the studio when the commissioner announced the governor’s arrival, took out time to slam the state government for shielding the health status of the governor, who was believed to be treating cancer of the thyroid in a London hospital.

According to Aremu, no President of America goes on vacation outside America, “but here, in our cetenary, we are still battling to know where our governor is and you can see the commissioner trying to impress us here.”

He said many Nigerian leaders are traveling abroad while their counterparts in other countries are busy with development.
He described Nigeria as a miserable country.

“In 100 years, what have we learnt from even the colonialists who came here to turn Nigeria around?

“They built the railway from Lagos to Kano and years after, we are still trying to revive the moribund rail system,” he lamented

EducationStudent Expelled For Studying Too Much by gboyetade(op):
Different strokes they say are for different folks. In the part of Nigeria where I grew up, what could have been recommended for emulation is being seen as obsession in another part of the world.

18 year old Gagliardi has been expelled from Ifield Community College in southern England, subsequently handed over to the police for refusing to leave the library.

The school accused him of being too obssesed studying and constituting a nuisance

He said “I have been punished for wanting to do well. I am a hardworking and a dedicated student, and this could have such an impact on my future.”

Marilyn Evans, director of school administration, said: “He became loud and angry that he could not study after school.”

The student went to the library despite being banned from the premises for the day as punishment for disrupting the school principal during a meeting to request special meetings.

Gagliardi is described as the “best student”, who wants to do well on tests, but had been “causing a nuisance and a disturbance on the property.” The school authorities added that “He is obsessed with making the revision after school.”

A police spokesman confirmed that officers were called to the school to remove a “disruptive” student who refused to leave the premises, but said Gagliardi will not face charges.

CrimeThieves Rob Microsoft Office, Take Only Ipads! by gboyetade(op): 9:50am On Jan 23, 2013
Thieves Rob Microsoft Office, Take Only iPads

Seriously, this must hurt. Someone raided Microsoft's Silicon Valley Research Center in Mountain View, Calif., and stole five iPads, but left all the Microsoft stuff just sitting there. This happened over the Christmas break. Not a big deal, as these things go. The iPads were worth about $3,000 in total. But still, not a great publicity coup. The news showed up first in a local Palo Alto paper, The Daily Post, after Microsoft reported the theft to police. (They might be wishing they hadn't done that.) Some people thought it might be a hoax, but apparently it's true. Wow.

Daily Post writer Angela Ruggiero, whose byline appeared on the story, has also confirmed that the above clipping is not a mock-up.
The iPads may have been the obvious thing to steal in Building 5: that's the place where Microsoft, whose headquarters are in Redmond, develops software for Apple hardware. It's possible the thief has got hold of some unreleased Microsoft apps with his or her Apple devices. The office also houses Microsoft Exchange hosting servers, a less tempting target for a light-manipulated thief.
Microsoft did not respond to a request for comment.

Beautiful!
Winston ensured that the heart points to Wotton Hill, where his late wife grew up. He also planted lovely flowers in the meadow and flew over it five years ago to catch a glimpse of his lasting love. Truly, true love never dies, it only gets deeper and stronger with time...
For YOU, DDDD.

RomanceRe: Farmer Builds A Meadow Of 6,000 Trees In Honour Of Late Wife by gboyetade(op): 9:47pm On Jan 14, 2013
The two lovers, Winston and Janet in 1960. True love is timeless...
The heart itself is one acre long and he painstakingly and carefully marked it out with a massive hedge, starting some months after her death. The heart is somewhat secretive and can only be entered from a track that takes you to the tip. This is the true heart of oaks..the meadow has 6,000 oak trees. Winston made sure she always remained in his heart. True love is a mysterious language that can be understood only by those in it. Actually, no one knew of the heart (it was a family secret all these years) until a balloonist flew over it recently and couldn't believe his eyes!

Hear him:

“I thought it was a great idea - it was a flash of inspiration - and I planted several thousand oak trees.
“Once it was completed we put a seat in the field, overlooking the hill near where she used to live.
“I sometimes go down there, just to sit and think about things. It is a lovely and lasting tribute to her which will be here for years.
“We planted large oak trees around the edge of the heart, then decided to put a hedge around it too.

The two again, in 1994, a year before Janet died. True love never forgets to honour, remember, cherish and love, even in death.

One spectacular thing with the meadow is that it is actually hidden away from sight and can only be seen properly from the air. The meadow is located in Winston's farm near Wickwar, South Gloucestershire, United Kingdom. The two got married in 1962.

Now 70 years old, Winston's little meadow has grown to cover six acres and it is now the place where he sits and remembers the woman who was his wife for 33 years who died in 1995 at the age of 50 from heart failure (that's quite heartbreaking...).

For decades, Winston Howes devotedly constructed, watered and maintained a meadow shaped in form of a heart as a tribute to his late wife and soulmate, Janet. She died suddenly 17 years ago and the devastated Winston started to plant saplings of oak trees in the shape of a perfect heart with the middle pointing in the direction of her childhood home (can anything be sweeter than that, DDDD?)

It is said that love is like a wind, you may not see or touch it but you will always feel it wherever it is present. For those who think true love, unflinching loyalty and sincere devotion are just myths, it must be stated that true love is like a miracle, only those who experience it can understand. Sports2013 Nations Cup: Nigeria To View Only Eagle’s Matches Due To Rights Issues by gboyetade(op): 2:01pm On Jan 10, 2013
The Broadcast Organisation of Nigeria (BON) has rejected the offer to pay 8 million Euros to acquire the right to broadcast the 2013 African Cup of Nations.

Chairman of BON, Abubakar Jijiwa said the tournament is already branded and marketing the brand is an uphill task which will not benefit media owners in Nigeria.

Jijiwa however added that the organisation is willing to pay $300,000 for some selected matches such as the opening and closing ceremonies and all matches involving Nigeria’s Super Eagles. PoliticsRussia Demands Release Of Arrested Sailors by gboyetade(op): 1:39pm On Jan 10, 2013
Nigerian authorities intercepted a ship and arrested its Russian crew on October 23 after they found several guns and around 8,500 rounds of ammunition aboard.

"On Monday, we handed over the crew to the police as we have completed preliminary investigations," Lieutenant Commander Jerry Omodara, spokesman for the Western Naval Command, said by telephone. "The ship and the weapons are still in our custody."

The Russian Foreign Ministry said the sailors were facing a court case initiated "under false pretexts" and that Nigeria broke a promise given to Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that the men would return to Russia before the New Year.

"We expect that this time around the Nigerian partners will stick to their word and release the Russian sailors in the nearest time without additional conditions and further delays," the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

Arms smuggling to and through Nigeria is rife. Demand for weapons is great because of an Islamist rebellion in the north, armed robbery and kidnapping by gangs in the south and oil theft and piracy in the southeast.

The country is also sometimes used as a conduit for shipping arms to other conflict-ridden parts of West Africa.

The Moran Security Group, the Russian company that owns the confiscated vessel, called the accusations "groundless" and urged Nigeria to release the sailors.

"Over nearly three months, no charges were presented. This means the Nigerian side has no strong evidence... A week after the detention they would have been transferred to police arrest and then to court," Moran spokesman Alexei Maximov said.

"This case ... is the worst possible scenario that is threatening bilateral ties between Russia and Nigeria," he said.

Omodara said the boat was stopped initially because it was in Nigerian waters without permission.

In 2010, a consignment of rocket launchers, grenades and other explosives from Iran was seized in Lagos, causing a diplomatic row between Nigeria and Iran. It also strained ties between Iran and Senegal, which accused Iranian security forces of trying to supply weapons to its Casamance rebels.

"I’m a born again believer who loves the Lord Jesus and am proud of Him.
If the people of the world can do it, why not me?
According to the daily mail UK, he was quoted saying: ‘ I’m a born-again Christian.
I don’t think I was a nice person before I became a Christian. I’ve had a lot of lucky escapes and have been in some bad situations."

Nweke, a member of the Belgian Green Party, was re-elected last year having made history in 2006 when he became the first non-Belgian born politician to win an elective position in West-Flanders.
With his re-election, Nweke’s mandate includes issues bordering on the economy, social policy, international development and minority priority.
“The last several years were a learning curve where some important results were equally achieved.
“ I will continue to have my eyes on the ball as far as social policy is concerned, but with an expanded portfolio that includes the economy and international development.
“Small and medium enterprises are the engine of the local economy and a business-friendly environment will not only keep existing businesses in good shape but will attract new investments and create jobs.
“A number of good initiatives are ongoing and obviously these would be continued and enhanced. “It will also make sense to re-evaluate some economic activities that are liabilities to the local economy,” He told NAN’s Western Europe Correspondent.
Nweke, who spoke on international development, said the challenges of global meltdown were insurmountable. “I think that the relationship between the western economies and the emerging ones has for too long being based on the wrong premise. He said that partnership, rather than charity, should be the bedspring on which the larger part of the relationship rests.
“The economies of the west are showing signs of saturation, while there are huge developmental potential in the emerging economies. PoliticsKogi Speaker In Auto Crash, One Person Died by gboyetade(op): 7:38am On Jan 04, 2013
BARELY a week after the governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada, escaped with injury from a ghastly auto accident, which led to the death of his Aide de Camp (ADC), the Speaker of the State House of Assembly Momoh Jimoh Lawal, was also involved in a ghastly auto accident with a police corporal attached to his convoy losing his life.

An eye witness account disclosed that the accident occurred on Monday December 31.

Wada, who sustained serious injury was just discharged from the hospital where he was receiving treatment in Abuja.

The Monday accident, according to the eye witness account, occurred beside Osara village on the Okene—Lokoja- Abuja highway while the speaker was returning from the Christmas celebration.

The accident occurred when a heavy duty vehicle was said to have veered from its lane and crashed into the convoy with the speaker narrowly escaping being killed.

However, a police corporal attached to the convoy, Lamidi Akeem from Erinle in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State who was said to be injured in the accident, later died on Wednesday morning at a private hospital in Lokoja as a result of injuries sustained.

One of the legislators, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incident but called on all Nigerians to pray for political leaders in Kogi State saying, “Kogi is passing through a trauma.”

He said it was a thing of sadness and concern that another fatal accident occurred barely four days after the state governor’s convoy was also involved in an accident.

FashionWhat your hair style speaks of you by gboyetade(op):
Did you know that the way you divide your strands can affect the way people perceive you?

It was news to us too, and so were these eye-opening tidbits from a study, which found that the direction you part your hair and the way it falls causes others to instantly assess your personality in a certain way

Part your hair on the right (showing the side of your brain that is intuitive and controls creativity) to appear gentle, caring and ultra-feminine.

To look more assertive and reliable, part it on the left (showing the side of your brain that is rational and controls analytic function).

Want to appear balanced and trustworthy? Try a center part or none at all.

Health7 Tips For Better Sleep by gboyetade(op):
Trouble getting to bed at night? You're not alone.
According to the National Sleep Foundation, more than 13% of American adults report problems sleeping. And there isn't much that's more important to your overall health than good sleep. Luckily, for many, a good night's rest is only a few short steps away. Cure your insomnia by redesigning your room for maximum tranquility.

Choose the Right Color
The color you paint your bedroom walls and the colors you use to decorate can affect the way you feel inside your room and, ultimately, can affect your sleep. Studies have shown that subdued shades of blue and green can elicit feelings of relaxation, calmness, comfort, peace, and hope. Other lighter colors such as peach and tan may also help calm your senses before bedtime.

Get the Right Bed
When you're spending almost a third of your lifetime in your bed, it makes sense to commit the time and money needed to make sure it meets your needs. When it comes to beds, there's no one-size-fits-all. Find a store that lets you test a mattress for 30 days before buying. Test out different mattresses and pillows to select the right size and firmness for you. If you're waking up stiff or sore, try a new mattress or pillows.

Turn Down the Light
It seems obvious, but making sure your room is dark enough is essential to a night of quality sleep. Turn off or block all light sources, and make sure that you have curtains or blinds on your windows; even street lights and moonlight can wake you up if you're a light sleeper. If you need some light to fall asleep, don't just use any old lamp; get a night light or dimmer switch-controlled lamp that will emit soft, gentle light

Turn the Clock
A simple but effective adjustment to your bedroom layout – turn your clock so that it faces away from your bed. First of all, if your clock glows, the low light it emits could affect your sleep. Second, watching time slowly tick by as you lie in bed will cause mental stress that keeps you from ever falling asleep.

Get Rid of the TV And the computer.
Your bedroom should be a place of sleep and intimacy, and your electronics can affect both of those. Move your TV out into the living room. If you use your bedroom as a home office, make sure that when you put away your computer, you can put it out of sight. While you're at it, make sure there's no soft blue glow coming from your cell phone or iPod either.

De-clutter
Organize your closet and shelves so that there aren't piles of clothes and stacks of books lying around your room. Move unfinished projects out of your bedroom so they don't stress you out when you're getting ready for bed. An uncluttered room will lead to an uncluttered mind, less distraction, and easier relaxation.

Clean the Air
Breathing easier will lead to sleeping better. Open the windows regularly to air out your bedroom and get fresh air in and stale air out. Try putting an air-purifying plant or a HEPA-filter air-purifying system in your bedroom to rid the air of toxins and allergens. Finally, consider aromatherapy; mist your pillow with water infused with lavender, vanilla, sandalwood, bergamot, or chamomile to soothe your senses before bedtime.

Still Can't Sleep?
If you've redesigned your bedroom but still lie awake at all hours of the night, it may be time to take further steps. There are some small behavioral changes you can make during the day that pay huge dividends at night. And if those don't work, consider this comprehensive list of insomnia treatments. No matter what, don't accept a life without sleep; you deserve better!

Full Text of the President Jonathan's New Year's message

Fellow Nigerians,

1. I greet and rejoice with you all as we celebrate the advent of a new year.

2. I join you all in giving thanks to God Almighty for bringing us and our beloved nation safely through the past year to the beginning of 2013 which, by His Grace, will be a much better year for us and our country.

3. In keeping with tradition, it is usual for individuals, institutions and organizations to make resolutions and set agenda as a new year begins, to guide their actions in the coming months.

4. I have already given a clear indication of the Federal Government’s agenda for 2013 in recent pronouncements. Our objective for the year is to ensure by all possible means that more of the programmes and projects envisioned by this administration, and which are already being embarked upon are further brought on stream within the next 12 months to meet the yearnings of our people, and raise the quality of life.

5. We have in the last year achieved a lot in terms of the positive transformation of vital sectors of our national life such as public infrastructure, power supply, oil and gas, transportation, education, health and agricultural development. We will continue to work diligently in 2013 to ensure that our efforts in these areas are carried forward to full fruition in fulfillment of our promise of better public services and improved living conditions for all Nigerians.

6. We will give priority attention in the coming year to flood and erosion control, the rehabilitation and expansion of existing federal roads, improved power supply, as well as the continued rehabilitation, upgrading and reactivation of the national rail network.

7. Employment generation and wealth creation will also remain a primary objective of our sociology-economic agenda for 2013. Creating more employment opportunities for our youth and graduates of our universities is an imperative that will continue to underpin our drive for massive economic growth, the rapid expansion of our manufacturing and industrial base, and the productive diversification of our national economy. In this regard, we will continue to provide the necessary enabling environment for the private sector to thrive.

8. As peace and security remain pre-requisite conditions for the full realization of our objectives, we will also do more in 2013 to further empower our security agencies who are working in collaborative partnerships with our friends in the international community to stem the scourge of terrorism in our country and enhance the security of lives and property in all parts of Nigeria.

9. I also want to assure Nigerians that we will refuse to be discouraged by those who have taken it upon themselves to pick on every initiative and effort of this administration. We remain resolutely committed to the rule of law, due process and fair play in all circumstances. Our democracy continues to grow, and the scope for human freedom continues to expand. It is an achievement that we will continue to build upon.

10. I say it again, we are determined to continue to push forward. We will do more, not less. We will remain focused.

11.For your part, dear compatriots, I urge that you all include in your new year resolutions a commitment to do more this year to support the implementation of the Federal Government’s Agenda for National Transformation in every possible way. That is all I ask for.

12. The task of making our dear nation a much better place for present and future generations cannot be left to government alone. Leaders and followers alike have critical roles to play in our march towards the fulfillment of our great national potentials.

13. Let us all therefore resolve as we celebrate the new year to place the higher interests of national unity, peace, stability and progress above all other considerations and work harder in our particular fields of human endeavour to contribute more significantly to the attainment of our collective aspirations.

14. I wish you all a happy and rewarding 2013.

15. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR
President
Federal Republic of Nigeria
