PoliticsB'haram Tos Us-africa Summit Agenda by GCRS87(op): 5:07am On Aug 01, 2014
The United States Government has said that 50 African heads of governments and states have signified interests to participate in the 2014 US-Africa Leaders Summit scheduled to open in Washington DC on August 4.

US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, stated that the summit, which she described as “the first of its kind” was aimed at strengthening ties with “one of the world’s most dynamic and fastest-growing regions.”

Thomas-Greenfield spoke during a telephonic media briefing with some journalists on the continent, monitored by our correspondent in Lagos on Thursday.

According to her, the summit with the broad theme, “Investing in the Next Generation,” will focus on US-African partnership, particularly in the containing the challenges posed by extremist groups, such as the Boko Haram in West Africa, Al Shabaab in East Africa.

The top US diplomat noted that the US government was working closely with its Nigerian partners and all other countries affected by the Boko Haram insurgency in the West African sub-region.

Thomas-Greenfield said, “We are working with Nigeria and Nigeria’s neighbours. Following the kidnapping of Chibok girls, we sent a large inter-agency team to Nigeria to work with the Nigerian government in terms of developing a strategy for dealing with how to get the Chibok girls returned and also on how to deal with the Boko Haram.

“We have participated in a lot of discussions with leaders in the region (West Africa). The Nigerian government is also going to host us very soon to follow up on the areas of discussions. We have assisted Nigeria with information that we have been able to gather and we would be having a meeting while the summit is taking place on Boko Haram.”

PoliticsPolice Recover Part Of Robbery Victim's Stolen Cash by GCRS87(op): 4:48am On Aug 01, 2014
The Police in Delta State on Thursday said their men have recovered N117,000 cash out of the N900,000 an armed robbery victim said he lost to armed robbers on Wednesday in Warri.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, told our correspondent that the police at Enerhen had gone after the robbers soon after the victim reported the incident to them.

She said the victim, Mr. Akpome Gabriel, reported that four armed men operating in a black Toyota Camry car robbed him of N900,000 at gunpoint at Okorodudu junction Effurun.

Kalu said, “Sequel to the report, a patrol team was alerted and immediately moved after the hoodlums. The hoodlums on sighting the patrol team around Hotel De Mark Warri opened fire on the team and in the ensuing gun battle, one of the hoodlums later identified as Alex Akuraku after Udu Bridge, was caught in the cross fire and arrested, while the rest escaped.”

The PPRO said items recovered from the suspects include: one AK 47 rifle with S/No. 11937 loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition; three AK 47 rifle magazines; one cut to size double barrel gun; one live cartridge; one military jungle cap; some charms; three Nokia handsets; one black Toyota Camry car, Reg. No. KJA 278 B5 (Lagos); a pair of plate No. – AYB 223 GA Delta; the sum of N117,000.

She said efforts were on to track down the other suspects.http://www.punchng.com/news/police-recover-part-of-robbery-victims-stolen-cash/
PoliticsEx Sport Minister Defects To Apc by GCRS87(op): 4:36am On Aug 01, 2014
Nigeria’s former Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, yesterday declared that he is now a member of the All Progressive Congress.

In a recent sit down with reporters in Illorin, Kwara State, he said that his move was helped by the fact that APC were the only political party in the country that could offer the nation a credible political future.

He also told Nigerians to demand for change from their elected officers and show more interest in political decisions taken by the elected officers.

Abdullahi said: “The question you should ask yourself is whether you are better off today than you were six years ago; whether the education your children receive today is better than what they received six years ago and whether the health services available to you is better than what was obtainable six years ago?

“If you conclude that they are better, then there is no need for you to change, but if like many of us, you face the reality that they are not, then you will understand why we say that we need a change.

“I have served both at the state and national level and I am convinced now that I should be more involved in contributing to solving problems, not just writing about them (problems) again and that is why I am now a full member of the APC.

“Yes, I used to see myself as a technocrat and it was strategic because I needed to have an environment to perform the job I was given without necessarily becoming political or promoting myself because whether as a commissioner or minister, I was only there by the recommendation of my bosses and I needed to do the work assigned to me without failing.

“However, I also discovered that much as that gave me the opportunity to perform, the truth also was that it became a limitation in some ways because when the decisions are to be made which would affect the people, technocrats are not allowed to be in such gathering. They are only called upon to implement the decisions and even in doing that, he has to be careful because it may affect the fortunes of the politician.”

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi was the former Sports Minister before the hiring of present Sports Minister, Danagogo. He served under the Jonathan administration. Source /Naij.com/punch

I agree with Lamido. GEJ is corrupt, he refused to declare his assets and he is here using efcc to frustrate his opponents. What he said abt alams is vry true. If GEJ corrupt he won't pardon alams. Or did GEJ pardon Tafa Balogun, Bode George, Boni haruna n d rest. See John Yakubu d pension tif case.

The jukun youths or warriors stormed IBI nt WUKARI pls. Correction to ma above post.
PoliticsRe: 4 Killed In Religious Riots In Taraba by GCRS87: 6:38pm On Nov 19, 2012
why gvn false news here. It was the muslim fighters who attacked xristians in the church when service was on, and evn burnt church. With dat jukun youths frm wukari, gindin waya, kente and other places stormed wukari and gave muslims the greatest killing of dia lives. Muslims were serioously killed dat the soldiers dat were sent stop the killings and calm things down were not able to stand the jukun warriors, s soldiers were out numbered. The youths dealt wt dem muslims until dey are ok den dey allowed soldiers to com in n declare curfew. MY PROBLEM WITH MUSLIMS IS DAT THEy WILL FIRST ATTACK, AND WHEN XrISTIANS RETALIATE THEY WILL RUN TO THE MEDIA n START SAYiN RUBBISH N CRYIN FOUL, THE SAME THING THEY I DID IN YELWA-SHENDAM.
