Health › How I Survived Brain Surgery –julius Agwu, Comedian by geesilver(op): 7:22am On Sep 04, 2015
By Joy Umukoro
Ace comedian, Julius Agwu, has expressed his
appreciation to God Almighty for sparing his life after undergoing brain surgery about four months ago. In an interview with Channels Television last
weekend, the comedian recounted the horrific
experience that nearly took his life “Jumping all the
hurdles and challenges of life, so many of us don’t
really know what is going on inside. Nobody carries
signboard of ill-health. So, I never realized what was
happening, I just noticed that at some point, I was
loosing weight.
“Initially, I was working out trying to look shapely,
because as soon as you clock 40 you begin to take
some of those things seriously. I just noticed the
over-work, stress and everything. In Nigeria, we
really don’t rest, we hustle and hustle, we just keep
working but oyinbo (white men) will work for
vacation and settle, you know, rest. But our own, we
hustle and even when we die, we’re still working as
ancestors through consultations (Laughs).”
The rib cracker further explained that he was very
busy at that period shooting his new TV series, “but
then I just realised that once in a while, I would have
headache, take the normal pain relievers and it will
go down until I had a seizure and was rushed to the
hospital. That was the beginning of the story, when I
eventually regained consciousness, I lost all my
memory and I couldn’t walk properly.
“My wife and I had to go to Houston (USA), because
we had to find out what was really happening to me.
That was how through an MRI, it was discovered that I had tumours in my brain and an emergency surgery was advised. So, I thank God it went well and God has been perfecting my healing. Since April till now, I’ve never really done anything as regards my career. I thank God. I am back and alive. God has been merciful, He gave me a second chance.”
Agwu said the tumour was a big one at the back of
his head that was already like the size of a golf ball,
full-grown and very big. But the good thing is that
after it was removed, the doctors had to scan it to
find out whether it was cancerous. “But we thank
God, it’s benign and now my medication is dropping
it. By God’s grace, my memory is back. It’s not easy,
it’s like a car knocking engine. I don’t pray that such
thing should happen to my enemy,” he stressed.
The comedian, however, enjoined entertainers
including his colleagues in the industry to take their
health issues more seriously by undertaking regular
medical check-up and take things slow because “life
has no duplicate”.
Agwu is currently recuperating in the United States
and would return to the country this month for his
Crack Ya Ribs show coming up in Abuja in October.

Politics › I’m Not Interested In Giving Stewardship On Newspapers Pages —fashola by geesilver(op): 7:09am On Sep 04, 2015
FORMER Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babatunde
Fashola, has declared that he is not interested in
giving account of his stewardship on the pages of
newspapers.
Fashola, who spoke at the 16th Bishop Mike Okonkwo annual lecture in Lagos on Thursday made the declaration in his response to a question during the question and answer session, at the event held at Shell Hall, Muson Centre, Lagos.
The former governor who was the guest lecturer,
spoke on the lecture titled: “The Nigerian political
class and the citizens quest for good governance,”
made the declaration when he was asked by a
reporter to break his silence over the allegations
trailing his administration in Lagos State.
“I wont give account of my administration on the
pages of newspapers,” Fashola said.
In his lecture, Fashola attributed the success in
curtailing the menace of Ebola Virus Disease in
Nigeria, to the cremation law his administration has
put in place in Lagos.
“When we introduced the cremation law, there were
lots of criticism. It got to a stage where I had to come out and explained to the people that it was necessary that everyone must cremate their dead.
“But, I also let our people know that we have become a global city state, there are people from other parts of the world who are living with us and who cremation is not alien to as it is a way of life. They live here, work here, but when they die, they are taking out of here. Why? Why can”t they be buried here? Earlier, the chairman of the occasion, Professor George Obiozor, who was also a former Nigerian Ambassador to the US, said it is crucial that a cursory look be taken on Nigerian political evolution from time to time.
“When we do this, we will know where we are coming from, where we are, and of course, where we are going,” Obiozor said.

Art, Graphics & Video › 15 Colossal Facts About The Great Wall Of China by geesilver(op): 6:57am On Sep 04, 2015
The Great Wall of China is one of the oldest, largest,
and most celebrated achievements of human
ingenuity, but there are still a few things you might
not have known about China’s ancient landmark.
1. BUILDING THE WALL TOOK MORE THAN 1800
YEARS.
The Great Wall wasn’t the first fortification erected in
Chinese territory to protect citizens from foreign
invaders. As far back as the 8th century BCE, barriers were going up to repel nomadic armies. When Qin Shi Huang seized power of a collection of
neighboring principalities in 221 BCE and kicked off
the Qin Dynasty, he began construction on a 5000-
kilometer wall to safeguard his territory. Later
dynasties continued this work and added their own
flourishes. While construction began under the Qin
Dynasty, the recognizable segments that we think of
when we visualize the Great Wall were largely the
handiwork of the Ming Dynasty, which created these
facets between the 14th and 17th centuries CE.
2. THE STRUCTURE ISN’T ONE CONSISTENT WALL,
BUT A COLLECTION OF WALLS.
There’s a pervasive misconception that the Great Wall of China is one long uninterrupted structure. In fact, the Wall is more accurately described as a 20,000- kilometer network of walls spanning the northern border of Ancient and Imperial Chinese territories.
3. A SURPRISING INGREDIENT CAN BE FOUND IN THE WALL.
The Great Wall is largely crafted from unremarkable
building materials like earth and stone. More
interestingly, glutinous rice—known colloquially as
“sticky rice”—was incorporated into the mortar
recipe thanks to its cohesive properties. Modern
studies have indicated that the amylopectin of the
rice (the same substance that makes it sticky) helps
explain the wall’s strength and endurance.
4. WALL CONSTRUCTION WAS A COMMON
PUNISHMENT FOR CHINESE CONVICTS.
In a particularly extreme version of modern
community service, Great Wall construction,
maintenance, and surveillance were regular duties of convicted criminals during the Qin Dynasty. To
distinguish outlaw laborers from their civilian
colleagues, authorities shaved working convicts’
heads, blackened their faces, and bound their limbs
in chains. Transgressions ranging from homicide to
tax evasion were all punishable with Wall duty. The
work was dangerous—some estimates state that
400,000 workers perished while building the wall.
5. ROOSTERS WERE BROUGHT TO THE GREAT WALL
TO HONOR THE DEAD.
With so many lives lost during construction, grieving
family members feared that the spirits of their loved
ones would be forever trapped within the structure
that cost them their lives. In an effort to grant
deceased laborers spiritual emancipation, a mourner would cross over the Wall with a rooster in tow. This tradition was believed to help guide a soul away from the fortification.
6. AN ANCIENT POEM PREDICTS CONSTRUCTION OF
THE GREAT WALL.
The Shijing, a collection of Ancient Chinese poems
written between the 11th and 7th centuries BCE,
predicts proper construction of the Great Wall of
China with an entry describing a king’s efforts to fend off military invaders via development of a defensive barrier.
7. THE WALL PAYS TRIBUTE TO MYTHICAL AND
HISTORICAL FIGURES.
Lining the Great Wall are shrines and tributes to
figures from Chinese history. Guan Yu, a third-
century general who served during the Han dynasty,
is honored with temples built on the Wall.
Additionally, various points on the Wall pay homage
to Tinwáng, the Four Heavenly Kings of Buddhism.
The Long China Wall
8. THE WALL WAS NOT THAT GREAT AT KEEPING OUT INVADING FORCES.
Despite all the effort that went into making Great Wall the premiere component of China’s military defence system, many of the country’s varied enemies throughout history managed passage across the barrier. Manchurian invasion through the Wall in the
17th century resulted in the fall of the Ming dynasty.
9. HISTORICALLY, OTHER CULTURES HAVE BEEN
FONDER OF THE GREAT WALL THAN CHINA HAS.
China’s celebration of the Great Wall as a tourist
draw and landmark is a relatively recent
phenomenon, having only blossomed in the 20th
century as a result of international interest. China
first took note of the Wall’s wide appeal in the 19th
century, following its engagement in relations with
other Asian and European countries. Travellers and
merchants returned to their home countries with
stories they translated into art and print, creating an
enchantment with the Great Wall that helped spark
Chinese appreciation for the structure.
10. PEOPLE HAVE BEEN EXAGGERATING FOR
CENTURIES ABOUT THE WALL’S VISIBILITY FROM
SPACE.
Despite numerous accounts to the contrary, the
Great Wall of China’s reputation for extraterrestrial
visibility stands strong to this day. One good sign that this claim is specious lies in the fact that it dates back two centuries before mankind mastered space travel. English scholar William Stukeley outlined the idea in his Family Memoirs, written in 1754. The myth got a boost from journalist Henry Norman’s 1895 book The Peoples and Politics of the Far East, as well as in a 1932 Ripley’s Believe It or Not! cartoon strip. More reliable sources—astronaut Neil Armstrong among them—assert that the Great Wall is by no means visible from space, much less the moon. At best, the Wall can be spotted from a low orbit, sunlight and weather permitting.
11. THOUSANDS OF MILES OF THE ORIGINAL GREAT
WALL HAVE DISAPPEARED.
Today, the surviving elements of the Great Wall of
China stretch to a whopping 13,171 miles. Impressive though the measurement may be, it’s quite a decrease from what is believed to be the Wall’s peak length during the Ming dynasty. More than 1200 miles’ worth, or approximately one third, of the construction from this period no longer stands.
12. PIECES OF THE GREAT WALL WERE RECYCLED TO
BUILD CIVILIAN HOMES IN THE 1960s AND 1970s.
During the 20th century sociopolitical movement
known as Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, the
Chinese government did quite a bit of damage to the
Great Wall. Mao Zedong and the Red Guard
recognized the Wall as little more than a relic whose
materials would better serve in the development of
contemporaneous housing. Between 1966 and 1976,
miles of the Wall were stripped of bricks and re-
purposed to build civilian homes.
13. CERTAIN STANDING PORTIONS OF THE WALL
MIGHT VANISH BEFORE 2040.
Predictions about the Great Wall’s fortitude have
grown increasingly dire during the 21st century.
Natural weathering and human-imparted erosion
may result in the disappearance of certain parts of
the Wall before 2040. Portions of the Wall in the
Gansu province are thought to be in particular
jeopardy.
14. NEW SECTIONS OF THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA
ARE STILL BEING DISCOVERED.
Previously unknown stretches of the Great Wall have
been discovered as recently as 2012. In the past
decade, archaeologists have located some of the
northernmost sections yet to be identified, standing
in and on the border of present day Mongolia.
15. THE GREAT WALL GOES BY MANY NAMES
AROUND THE WORLD.
“The Great Wall of China” is a nickname commonly
used by Americans, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, while other Western nations prefer a
humbler designation: “The Chinese Wall.” Within
China, the Wall has known a number of monikers,
having been introduced in its inceptive days as “The
10,000-Li-Long Wall” (as in the first century BCE
publication Records of the Grand Historian) and “The Long Wall of 10,000 Li” (as in Book of Song, published during the fifth century CE), a Li being about a third of a mile. Over time, the Wall earned some more ostentatious handles, including “The Purple Frontier” and “The Earth Dragon.” Ultimately, China christened its man made wonder with a simple but appropriate name: “The Long Wall.”

Crime › Oil Theft: Army Uncovers Massive Bunkering Site by geesilver(op): 12:16pm On Sep 03, 2015
By Kingsley Omonobi, with agency reports
ABUJA —
The Nigerian Army said it has uncovered a
massive illegal oil bunkering site at the Makoba
Beach in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Ironically, the site is just a kilometre away from the
Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, and two kilometres
away from the Rivers State Government House.
Commander of 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Port
Harcourt, Brig.-Gen. Stevenson Olabanji, told the
News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, yesterday, in Port
Harcourt that thousands of litres of illegally refined
automotive gas oil, AGO, popularly called diesel were discovered at the site.
The discovery came as the Nigerian Navy, yesterday,
charged ship owners in the country to fish out
economic saboteurs in their midst, and cooperate
with security agencies in the fight against oil theft and other heinous crimes in the maritime industry.
OIL THEFT —Commander, 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army,
Port Harcourt, Brig.-Gen. Stevenson Olabanji (right)
and other officers, during a raid on an illegal oil
bunkering site discovered on Nigerian Ports
Authority Road in Port Harcourt, Tuesday. : NAN.
Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas, gave the
charge when he received the chairman and executive members of the Nigerian Ship Owners Association, NSOA, in his office.
Makoba Beach bunkering While the Makoba Beach operation came as a big surprise considering its closeness to government quarters, Gen. Olabanji disclosed that Army operatives were immediately deployed to the site on getting the information.
He said: “About 16:40 hours on Monday, we got
information that some illegal bunkering activities
were going on along Makoba Beach.
“On arrival, our personnel discovered illegal activities which involved bunkering of illegally refined petroleum products and lifting of diesel onto local boats. “At the site, we found more than 5,000 drums loaded with illegally refined diesel; four tanker trucks containing 132,000 litres of diesel combined, and a barge with 165,000 litres of stolen diesel.
“This discovery is unprecedented because since we
started our operations 10 days ago, this is about the
biggest that we have uncovered.”
Olabanji said that additional 150 drums loaded with
about 3,150 litres of diesel, were also discovered in
21 ‘Cotonou boats’.
He said that 13 suspects were arrested at the scene
of the illegal activity, adding that the illegal bunkering dump had not yet been set ablaze, in line with the Joint Task Force, JTF, mandate because of its
closeness to residential buildings and the NPA.
Challenges of destroying bunkering site “Our mandate requires us to destroy the site in situ,
but we cannot do this because it will degrade the
environment and affect residents since it is situated
in the heart of Port Harcourt. Our plan is to move
them to a safe location for destruction.”
The commander said that preliminary investigation
had already begun to unravel sponsors of the activity, adding that the 13 suspects would be handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
Olabanji, while urging oil thieves to desist from
sabotaging oil and gas installations, assured
Nigerians that the JTF would not rest until it rids the
state of illegal bunkering activities.
“Let it be known that the Army will not and will never
tolerate illegal bunkering in our area of responsibility,” he assured, and called on the public
to provide the JTF with timely information which
could lead to the arrest of oil thieves and pipeline
vandals.
War on illegal bunkering Admiral Ibas noted that as stakeholders in the nation’s maritime sector, which accounts for 85 per cent of the country’s international trade, ship owners’ cooperation and input will greatly help the war on illegal bunkering and maritime crimes. His words: “Let me say that the Nigerian Ship Owners Association has contributed immensely to the Nigerian Navy’s operations and successes in the past
and are still doing so. During the ECOMOG
intervention of the 1990’s, the association assisted
the Navy with some logistic support. Any nation that
is blessed with the seas must utilise its benefits.
“As a littoral state, we need all stakeholders to come
together to achieve a crime free and safe maritime
environment because over 85% of our trade takes
place in the high seas. If we develop our bulk trade
business in line with international best practices, ship owners will not only benefit more, the nation will be better off.

“As major stakeholders in the maritime sector, I want to acknowledge that you have done a lot but we need you to do more because you cover a lot of grounds in the sector since your ships go far and wide. With over 84, 000 nautical miles, the Navy alone with our assets cannot cover everywhere. But your members can give us information.
“We, therefore, are soliciting your support through
information from your members such that if we get
timely information about oil theft and illegal
bunkering activities, it will enable us act fast and save the nation from losing much needed resources.
“In the alternative, we want to warn that activities of
saboteurs in your midst and those who commit
heinous crimes in the seas will be resisted, and if
caught, made to face the consequences. We are also
fully ready to collaborate with you because we’re
aware of the enormous employment opportunities
your association provides for the nation.”
Earlier, President of the Ship Owners Association,
Capt. BO Labinjo (rtd), disclosed that they were at the Naval Headquarters to pledge support for the new leadership with a view to checkmating oil theft and other maritime crimes in Nigeria.
Capt. Labinjo said the association has 103 member
companies, and 98 non-ship owner companies,
adding that there is a need for collaboration between the Navy and the ship owners to ensure the fight against maritime crimes is successful.
“The Navy and ship owners are like two wings of the
same bird. Both of us are of the seas. You are the
fighting Navy, and we are the merchant Navy.
Without the fighting Navy, the seas will be overrun,
and without merchant Navy, the nation’s economy
will suffer as trading activities will be disrupted. So
collaboration is the way forward,” he said.

Health › International Bodies Partner Aisha Buhari On Maternal, Child Health by geesilver(op): 8:21am On Sep 03, 2015
By George Agba
Sep 3, 2015 4:48 am
The bid by the wife of the President, Hajia Aisha
Muhammadu Buhari to salvage mothers and their
children from health and nutritional hazards in the
country has taken an an international dimension.
The United Nations (UN) under Secretary General
(USG) and Executive Director of UNFPA, Prof.
Babatunde Osotomehin and a team of Development
Partners are exploring opportunities through Mrs
Buhari’s office to develop a support programme to
complement the present administration’s efforts at
improving health, nutrition and population outcomes in Nigeria.
The Senior Special Assistant to the wife of the
President, Dr. Hajo Sani, who disclosed this in a
statement, noted that Mrs. Buhari is concerned about the plight of mothers in children in Nigeria.
He quoted Osotomehin as saying that while the
programme will target the poor and vulnerable in
Nigeria, it was good practice globally with Kenya and
Namibia as countries that have used similar
programs to support health improvement efforts in
their countries.
Hajo also disclosed that Mrs Buhari is “determined to use her privileged position to become an advocacy champion for raising attention and resources necessary to make a difference in Maternal New born and Child Health outcomes in Nigeria”.
He further hinted that the President’s wife has met
with two country representatives of UNFPA, Mrs.
Ratidzai Ndhlovu and UN Women, Dr. Grace Ongile.
The media aide said at the meeting, they “discussed
extensively about the collaborative efforts on rapid
identification of the issues that have militated against good health outcomes especially in Reproductive, Maternal New-born Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH in Nigeria).”

Business › $15bn Oil Deal: Alison-madueke Slams Indian High Commissioner by geesilver(op): 10:00pm On Sep 02, 2015
Immediate past Minister for Petroleum Resources,
Mrs. Diezani K. Alison-Madueke, has dismissed
allegations made by the Indian High Commissioner to
Nigeria to the effect that as former minister she ‘sat’
on a $15 billion oil deal.
She described this as spurious, unfounded and
libelous.
Alison-Madueke who spoke through her lawyers,
Messers Chike Amobi and Co., said the High
commissioner, Mr. Ajjampur R. Ghanashyam’s
acrimony towards her is due to the refusal of the
Federal Government of Nigeria to allow the Indian
company, Oil and Gas Commission Videsh Limited
(OVL), default on its contractual obligation to provide
a $6 billion investment, (around RS36, 600 crore) in
an 180,000 barrels (bpd) Greenfield refinery and
2,000 megawatt power plant or railway line from East
to West of Nigeria.
In a release made to journalists in Abuja on behalf of
the former minister, she said the publication by Mr.
Ajjampur R. Ghanashyam to the effect that she
delayed the approval of oil concession to twin Indian
companies, Oil and Gas Commission Videsh Limited
(OVL) and Mittal Energy International JV, OMEL
(MITTAL) in 2006, after receiving a $25,000,000.00
signature bonus, is spurious, false and lacking in
substance.
Madueke clarified that she was not the Minister of
Petroleum Resources in 2006 when the said Indian
companies entered into contractual agreement with
the Federal Government and as such wouldn’t have
received any signature bonus either as citizen or
minister of the Federal Republic.
She also said she had no personal reason to sit on
the contract just as she wondered why the High
Commissioner would “choose to malign and attack
her rather than commend her acting dispassionately
in recommending for refund of the said signature
bonus to the Indians when the matter was brought to
her attention at the twilight of her tenure as
minister.”
“When the issue of the request for refund, made by
OVL, was re-presented to me in May 2015, I
immediately prepared and dispatched a letter dated
13th May, 2015, Ref #: PI.LM/3900/S.693/Vol.1/78b, to
former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR),
recommending for the refund of the said signature
bonus in compliance with the relevant and extant
laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which
requires such approvals to be granted by the
President, and implemented by the Federal Ministry
of Finance.”
Mrs. Madueke further explained that the Federal
Government voided the contract with OVL because
the company wanted the Federal Government of
Nigeria to waive the commitments they made during
the bidding process which included investing $6
billion (around RS 36,600 crore) in an 180,000 barrels
per day (bpd) greenfield refinery, a 2000 megawatt
power plant or a railway line from East to West of
Nigeria, all of which were considered in granting the
concession in the first place.
On the allegation that the Indian High Commission to
Nigeria suggested that contrary to global best
practices in the industry, Mrs. Alison-Madueke used
intermediaries to receive payment for crude oil
transactions with India, clearly imputing a fraudulent
ill-feeling to the former minister’s operation, she
explained that the contract in question was a
government to government crude oil sales
transaction with established procedures which
predates her tenure as minister.
She also said that the established procedure
stipulates that the buying country, in this case India,
selects and presents a local company as its agent to
transact on its behalf as it is never the responsibility
of selling country to select or nominate a company
for the buying country.
She maintained that Nigeria never dictated nor
suggested any intermediary or marketing company
for India for the purposes of the said transaction.
“Apparently, the Indian High Commission to Nigerian mischievously obfuscated these facts to malign the former Nigerian Petroleum Minister whilst not disclosing that it was a government to government crude sales transaction,” the statement said.
The former Minister disclosed that what Mr.
Ajjampur R. Ghanashyam neglected to inform
Nigerians is that the oil concession was not granted
to Oil and Gas Commission Videsh Limited (OVL) and Mittal Energy International JV, OMEL (MITTAL) due to inability of their subsidiary EMO Exploration and Production to meet cash obligation.
According to the lawyers acting on behalf of the
minister, “Mr. Ajjampur R. Ghanashyam’s acrimony
towards our client is due to the refusal of the Federal Government of Nigeria to allow OVL default on its contractual obligation to Nigeria in the case of: A $ 6 billion investment, (around RS 36, 600 crore) in an 180,000 barrels (bpd) Greenfield refinery.
2,000 megawatt power plant or railway line from East to West of Nigeria.” Mrs. Alison-Madueke said as a diplomat, the Indian High Commissioner who should foster bilateral and multilateral relations between his country and Nigeria, belittled “such a lofty position by officiously spreading false and misleading information calculated to malign Nigerian public officials , a conduct unbecoming of a foreign diplomat.
“We believe the conduct of Mr. Ajjampur R.
Ghanashyam is aimed at damaging our client’s
reputation for her insistence on protecting the
interests of the people of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria, and for not acceding to inappropriate
requests of his country to be relieved of its
contractual obligations to Nigeria.
“Based on the falsity and unfounded allegations
against our client, we firmly but humbly request an
unequivocal apology and a complete retraction of the libelous statements from Mr. Ajjampur R.
Ghanashyam against our client.”
Mrs. Madueke advised Mr. Ajjampur R. Ghanashyam
to govern his future conduct accordingly to prevent
the possibility of reoccurrence of any other events
that could potentially diminish the exalted office of a
diplomat he represents.

Celebrities › I Can Marry Divorcee With Kids—toni Payne by geesilver(op): 9:25pm On Sep 02, 2015
Former wife of popular singer, 9ice, Toni Payne, has disclosed that if she would marry a man that has been married before with children, then his former marriage must have been dissolved by a court. According to her, she would take care of his kids like hers. The artiste manager said if she is given an option to choose between being a single mother or being in a polygamous home, she would take the former. In her words, “No matter how fake some women are, don't be fooled, women are naturally jealous creatures. We don't share with an open heart so why pretend. If I met a man with children or a previous wife, I will make sure he is 100% legally divorced before accepting to date him. “If we do decide to take it further, I'll make sure he draws very clear lines so there is no confusion and help raise his kids as mine. “Some use religion as excuse, some use culture. It doesn't change the fact that God created Adam and Eve, not Adam, Eve, Silifa and Ngozi. My personal belief is that polygamy is a selfish act carried out by insecure men who don't know what they want and wish to have their cake too. “If I was given the option to choose single parenthood or polygamy, I would easily choose single parenthood. I love peace, no time for drama. Anyhow, that's my way sha. I know who I am, I'm too passionate to share husband legally but I can love a man enough to love his kids 200%. “iranu, abasha. Nothing in this life surpasses peace of mind and genuine happiness. Absolutely nothing!! When you are giving each other back rub, how does it work sef? The other one goes in her room to wait her turn? Or he hops house to house? At the end of the day, you gotta know what you can or can't accept, don't live an unhappy life just to please someone who would ask you to share. Laughs, what happens on special occasions? We will now be doing anko up and down? ko jor, laughs.” www.nigeriafilms.com/news/35519/27/i-can-marry-divorcee-with-kidstoni-payne.html

Politics › Why Obasanjo, Atiku, Amaechi Left PDP – Metuh by geesilver(op): 11:02am On Sep 02, 2015
• Party Marks 17th Anniversary • Says It Created Billionaires In Past 16 Years

By Rotimi Akinwumi / Abuja

Coming short of saying it turned former key officials that later became vocal critics to super stars, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Monday, took a jab at former President Olusegun Obasanjo, his deputy, Atiku Abubakar; Senator Barnabas Gemade, Professor Iyorchia Ayu, Audu Ogbe, Rotimi Amaechi, among others, accusing them of dumping the party for fear of competition.

The PDP said apart from Obasanjo and Atiku, who led the country from the onset of the Fourth Republic, the rest held very senior positions, including chairmen and members of its National Working Committee (NWC) and Board of Trustees (BoT).

The party said the big wigs became uncomfortable because it thrived on offering a level playing ground and accommodating various shades of Nigeria’s national spread.

Other party stalwarts that defected from PDP include Yaya Kwande, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (former Speaker of the House of Representatives, now Sokoto State Governor), Aliyu Wamakko, Mutala Nyako, Musa Rabiu Kwakwanso, ex-governors of Sokoto, Adamawa and Kano states respectively, among others.

Fielding questions at a press conference in Abuja on why top guns of the PDP were defecting to the opposition in droves, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh, said: “Majority of the top party members who defected from our party are those who cannot handle competition while some members felt that they were not well-protected when they sought assistance, others left because we lost election, others for selfish reason, while some others left when they felt they were honestly not properly accommodated in the party.”

The press conference was called to mark the 17th Anniversary of the institution that once prided itself as the largest party in Africa, which lost power at the federal level after spending 16 years in government.

Metuh said the PDP had nurtured democracy in the last 16 years and strengthened the political space through creating enabling environment for various entrepreneurial spirits to bloom.

The last 16 years of the PDP, Metuh said, has been good to the nation economically with a large number of billionaires emerging in the country because of “good economic policies” of its administration while in power.

On why the party was rejected at the polls during the last general elections in view of the achievements it claimed, he said only Nigerians were in a position to explain.

He said that the party was still surprised that despite its achievements recorded in the last 16 years it was in control of the Federal Government, majority of Nigerians rejected it at the polls.

“Only the electorate can say why we were rejected. We must have made our mistakes and some of the issues that affected the election had to do with the people.

“In those 16 years, we did our best. We created a system where merits were recognised. We created a lot of super rich Nigerians like Dangote, Oando and other companies. Nigerian companies now compete with foreign companies in the oil and gas sector,” Metuh stated.

He said that it was wrong for anyone to associate the party with corruption, a tag the current government of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is trying to portray about the party, stressing that for the first time after over 35 years of military rule in Nigeria, the emergence of the PDP in the political scene created an enabling environment where public fund oiled the economy for entrepreneurs to bloom.

Metuh said the PDP attracted Nigerians in the Diaspora to return home, believing in the system even as it stuck to the rule of law and ensured the democratic ethos.

He insisted that anti-corruption war was part of the achievements of the PDP as demonstrated in the establishment of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

He said the PDP which championed the anti-graft campaign in the country followed it with due respect to the fundamental human rights of the people without propaganda that de-market Nigeria by celebrating corruption.

The PDP, he maintained, did internal cleansing by investigating its members with due respect to fundamental rights of the people without propaganda and undue celebration of fights against corruption.

“When the PDP took office in 1999, it quickly formed government and calmly, but vigorously applied itself to service, initiating reforms, and facing the challenges inherited from past military regimes, without resorting to blames, blackmail and propaganda.

“At the time PDP came to power, Nigeria’s image internationally was in a deplorable state, with very poor human rights records. The onus of restoring it from its pariah status then rested squarely on the PDP-led government, which it successfully executed, returning the nation to its pride of place in the comity of nations.

“The PDP-led government under former President Olusegun Obasanjo went further to work assiduously to settle foreign debts accumulated by previous administrations and extricated the nation’s economy from burdens of the London and Paris Clubs debt overhang.

“Furthermore, in line with the determination to establish a moral and ethical society guided by such core values as honesty, integrity and justice, as contained in its manifesto, the PDP administration set up the Budget Monitoring and Price Intelligence Unit, otherwise known as Due Process Unit, which ensured transparency in government procurements and spending.

“The PDP government, in the same vein, immediately established the two major anti-corruption agencies, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), with strict establishment and operation of laws to ensure effectiveness and immunity from executive interferences.

“Down the years, SERVICOM desks were opened in ministries and agencies to further ensure ethical standards in government businesses.

“As a result of these deliberate policies, human rights and business friendly environment were created and it saw to the massive return of Nigerians in the Diaspora and the influx of direct foreign investments into the country.

“Also, in keeping with the vision of our founding fathers to build a qualitative democratic society, successive PDP administrations for 16 years nurtured and sustained national unity and cohesion through strict application of the principles of federal character and social justice, for equitable distribution of wealth and opportunities,” Metuh said.

He also said that the party initiated series of amendments to the constitution to make it more responsive to the wishes and aspirations of the people; reformed the electoral system to allow for greater political participation, granted operational independence to INEC and enacted the Freedom of Information Law, while upholding the sanctity of the rule of law in all sectors of the polity.

“To reposition the economy for greater productivity, successive PDP administrations applied an economic policy, which enhanced a dynamic economy, in which market forces are combined with the forces of partnership, solidarity and cooperation to boost private sector participation and emergence of an empowered middle class system in the country.

“As you are aware, the hallmark of the PDP administration was anchored on the policy of transfer of wealth from the public sector to hardworking and enterprising Nigerians. This resulted in the rapid expansion of the nation’s economic frontiers with an unprecedented growth in small and medium scale enterprises, which helped in providing employment for millions of our citizens across the country.

“It is incontrovertible that within the 16 years of successive PDP administrations, more businesses opened in the country in all sectors of the economy; in telecommunication (with one the world fastest GSM and Internet penetrations), transport, aviation, hospitality, education, agriculture, the media, automobile, real estate, oil and gas, food processing, among others, than in any other period in the nation’s history.

“In the same vein, hitherto weak banking sector was repositioned and strengthened, thereby providing support for businesses and restoring investors’ confidence in our system. By 2015, the PDP has grown our nation’s economy to the largest in Africa and one of the fastest growing in the world.

“Under the PDP administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, our nation witnessed the successful unbundling of the power sector with massive investments, resulting in the construction and rehabilitation of various power projects.

“This is in addition to investments in oil and gas sector including the Turn Around Maintenance (TAM) of our oil refineries, whose dividends, the nation is now enjoying,” the party added.

Car Talk › National ID Requisite For Drivers’ Licence –FRSC by geesilver(op): 10:44am On Sep 02, 2015
Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the Federal
Road Safety Corps [FRSC], Boboye Oyeyemi, has said
that possession of National Identity Card will be one
major criterion before the issuance of driver’s licence to the motoring public.
Oyeyemi stated this when the Director-General of the National Identity Management Commission [NIMC], Chris Onyemenam, paid him a working visit recently to fine-tune plans on the harmonisation of the data base of the two agencies of government.
He, however, said the policy would take effect only
after the harmonisation and integration of data base
among relevant agencies of government.
He also pointed out that National Identity Cards could be used in place of permanent voter cards during election when all relevant government agencies must have harmonised and integrated their data base in the NIMC.
According to him, “When National Identity Card is in
place, there is no need for permanent voter cards
during elections.”
“By the time we finish the whole process, it will serve a lot of purpose.”
The FRSC boss, who underscored the need for the
harmonisation of biometrics of Nigerians by relevant government agencies, said the exercise would reduce duplication of data bases as well as reduce multiple identification.
He also pointed out that in the face of current
dwindling revenue of government and scarce
resources, the harmonisation would save huge
resources on the part of government.
Therefore, he pledged the FRSC’S unflinching support to the success of the project, adding that all relevant agencies of government must work together in compliance with the presidential directive on the harmonisation of data base. Earlier, the Director-General of NIMC, Chris Onyemenam, had enumerated the benefits of having harmonised and integrated data base among the agencies of government.
He further pointed out that the exercise would
eliminate falsification of age among Nigerians,
adding that it would also achieve digital environment in Nigeria.
Onyemenam revealed that he had already consulted
with the management of Central Bank of Nigeria as
well as the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] on the harmonisation of data
base.
He stressed the need for all government agencies
involved in the registration of biometrics to col
laborate to ensure the success of the exercise

Education › Muslim Students Tackle WAEC For Disrespecting Islam by geesilver(op): 9:53pm On Sep 01, 2015
Apex Nigerian Muslim students body, the Muslim
Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), has criticized
the West African Examinations Council (WAEC)
over the times fixed for some subjects in the 2015
November December General Certificate of

Speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta last week, MSSN
accused the examination body of fixing examinations
at times when most Muslims should be praying.
According to the zonal coordinator of the group in
the southern states, Alhaji Mushafau Alaran, the act
takes Muslims for granted and disrespects Islam.
“It should be noted that Jumat prayer is an obligation
that all Muslims must observe," Alaran said.
The affected subjects include Forestry 2 (Essay)

Crime › Pipeline Vandals Kill 4 Lagos Policemen In Ikorodu Lagos by geesilver(op): 9:11pm On Sep 01, 2015
Tragedy struck on Monday on Ishawo Road,
Ikorodu, Lagos State, after some Ijaw youths,
suspected to be pipeline vandals, opened fire on
policemen in the area, killing four.
We learnt that while three of the deceased were
attached to the Owutu Police Division, one was
from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
Residents said the Ijaw youths took away the corpses of three of their victims.
Our correspondent observed during a visit to the
area that there was apprehension in the community,
while there were still bloodstains at the scene of the
shooting.
A resident, who asked not to be named, said he
started hearing gunshots on Sunday.
He told our correspondent petrol was generally
referred to as ‘water’, or ‘pure water’.
He said, “We started hearing gunshots in the evening of Sunday. But it was between 3am and 4am on Monday that the gunshots intensified.
“We did not know what transpired between the ‘pure
water’ sellers and the police, who have a patrol team
by the roadside, until we woke up to see blood and
later learnt that some policemen had been killed.”
Another member of the community explained that
the killing was due to a disagreement between the
policemen and the suspected vandals.
He said the vandals had paid the policemen some
money after they intercepted four tankers of fuel in
the community, but the SARS officers later came to
make a separate demand.
“After the policemen from Owutu had been settled,
SARS operatives came and said they had not been
given their own share.
“The vandals asked them to meet their colleagues
who had already been paid. They told the SARS men
that they were not making much money from the
business and that their demand was excessive.
“The SARS officers became angry and seized the
tankers.”
We learnt from a police source that the vandals left
the trucks and returned to their commander in the
creek.
The source said the commander, one OC, was the
one coordinating the vandals in the creek.
The source said, “After SARS officials took over their
trucks, they threatened to take them to their station if their demands were not met. The vandals went to
mobilise themselves and returned with their boss,
OC.
“OC then ordered them to open fire on the policemen and that was how three of them died.”
The source identified the deceased cops attached to
the Owutu division as Inspector Yerima and Corporal Adakuro, adding that one Sergeant Endurance was rescued from the scene and taken to the Ikorodu General Hospital, from where he was referred to the Lagos Island General Hospital.
He said the station immediately received a call from
two other officers, who escaped unhurt, warning of
the possibility of an attack on the station.
A source told us that one of the slain cops, Adakuro,
was of Ijaw descent, and knew many of the vandals.
It was learnt that the police corporal had called the
bluff of the vandals, which aggravated the matter.
His handset, which had the phone numbers of the
vandals, was said to have been taken away after the
incident.
It was gathered that the Divisional Police Officer of
the Owutu station had reported the case at the
command headquarters.
The two policemen, who escaped unhurt, were also
asked to report at the command.
A senior police source said, “The DPO reported to the
CP this morning (Monday). The community has
always been peaceful, but the SARS men came to
cause trouble. And now, some of our men are
unaccounted for.”
The General Secretary of Igbo-Olomu Central
Working Committee, Obatungashe Adebayo, blamed
the government for the rising insecurity in the
community.
Adebayo, who stated that 60 litres of petrol was being sold for N2,500 and 30litres for N1,500 in the
community, said the government had refused to
address the problem of the Ijaw militants in the area.
He said, “The question is how did they manage to get this sophisticated weapons? We don’t have peace in this community, because at times, we could just be hearing continuous gunshots, as if we are in a war zone. Successive governments have ignored our
cries.”

Crime › My Ordeal In Pipeline Vandals’ Den by geesilver(op): 8:33am On Aug 27, 2015
By Ola Kehinde-Balogun
MONTHS after he was kidnapped and tortured at
Arepo, Ogun State by pipeline vandals, Omoniyi
Ayedun has finally opened up on his experiences. He said he saw hell, disclosing that the vandals who held him and his colleague captive were simply
formidable.
Ayedun, a photojournalist working with Daily Sun
and Solomon Adeola of The Nation newspaper, were, abducted, terribly mal-handled and held hostage for several hours by pipeline vandals operating at Arepo in the area. Even when they identified themselves as journalists, their abductors maintained the journalists wanted to expose their illegal business.
Arepo pipeline vandals, our correspondent was told
are called “Lords of Waters.”
On the day the photojournalists were abducted, this
reporter and three others had hitherto, escaped
being kidnapped and molested. As they alighted from two motorcycles that took them to Ebute, a part of the community, one of the main river banks where the illegal dealing in petroleum products goes on freely, some customers were seen making brisk
businesses. Quickly, some of the suspected vandals
made an approach. They asked in a pidgin English if
the unidentified guests had come to purchase fuel.
Hear them: “Una wan buy water (fuel).” When the
mission of the reporters could not quickly be
ascertained, they suspected they were agents of
government.
Moments later, Omoniyi Ayedun and Solomon
Adeola were abducted. That was shortly after this
reporter and his colleague had made a quick
getaway, in order to escape the wrath of the vandals
some of whom were believed to be residents of the
same Ebute community.
Omoniyi who narrated his ordeal in the dungeon of
death recalled: “Those people were heavily armed;
and there was no trace of security around to
checkmate them. I doubt if anyone could overpower
them.
“Look at my body; all these bruises were as a result
of the wounds I sustained after being rough-handled. They (vandals) told us that we could not endure their beatings because their considered ‘mates,’ those who could match them were the army, Navy and the police, but not mere ‘termites’ like us.
“Initially, some of their boys had wanted to kill us,
having blindfolded us, but for the insistence of their
‘commander,’ who had directed the boys when he
was contacted on phone that he must see us alive to
ascertain if we were really spies or not save us from
death.
“Eventually, they blindfolded us and took us inside a
boat and sped off through the creek. Soon, we
arrived at a place where scores of the hoodlums
were waiting. By the time they removed the cloth with which we were blindfolded, I nearly collapsed and we began to beg them for mercy. Not until they knew we carried no arms or had incisions on our bodies, having stripped us naked, that they set us free. They also considered us too small to fight with.” Just like it is in Arepo, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipelines get vandalised daily in several parts of the country. Thieves, in their desperation to steal oil products being transported through the pipelines often attempt to burst them. They always set fire to the pipelines destroying them and wasting products worth millions of naira. They even kill local people and securitymen who dared to stop them.
For many who follow this trend, it is no longer news.
Residents of the communities the pipelines traverse
are tired of the nefarious actions of the vandals. They have all resigned to fate; some of them hang on the hope that the vandals would one after the other, lose their lives as they tamper with combustible pipelines daily.
However, there is a growing concern by residents of
NNPC pipeline host communities. Arepo, a sprawling
settlement in Obafemi Owode Local Government
Area of Ogun State is the chief. The community is
daily at risk of annihilation because it ceaselessly
bears the brunt of onslaughts by pipeline vandals.
And so far, very many innocent lives have been lot in
the area.
The vandals, Daily Sun learnt, are capable of
engaging security men matter however formidable.
They carry out their actions in order to desperately
protect their ‘means of livelihood.’ They are ever
armed to the teeth and always battle ready. When
our correspondent visited Arepo a short while after
the last pipeline vandalism and the resultant fire that reportedly claimed scores of lives, he discovered that
government security officials were manifestly absent
at strategic positions in the area.
Daily Sun findings also revealed a community at risk.
Even as the area is always in the news, because of the enormous dangers posed by the vandals, the sleepy community has ostensibly been left to its fate. Many innocent lives have been cut short by stray bullets which fly about during exchange of gun fire among factions of the criminals on one hand and the security operatives of Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), who were watching over the place at a time, on the other, and security agencies.
Daily Sun gathered that residents of Arepo
community, particularly those living around Ebute
(river bank) are at risk the most. They always
scamper for safety once the battle begins. When the
bullets begin to fly, the residents simply lie flat on the floor of their homes. It starts whenever the staccato sounds of gunshots reverberate in the area; those of them who love their lives: men, women and children all go flat on the floor to avoid being hit by stray bullets.
The case of the 24-year-old, pregnant Damilola
Fajana is still fresh in the minds of many. The lady
was killed on her way home from a visit to her
hospitalised husband. She met her untimely death
when a bullet shattered the windshield of a Toyota
Camry she was riding in. It was reported that the
bullet, which came from an AK-47 rifle, hit Damilola’s neck killing her instantly. She was discovered in a pool of her blood. Damilola was killed in her neighbourhood, close to the gate of Beachland Estate, Arepo, where a gun battle was going on between vandals and members of the OPC. She simply ran into the crossfire.
On July 22, scores of people were burnt to death
when the operation of the vandals led to an
explosion. On several occasions crucial pipelines
have been impaired at Arepo. Two years ago, Arepo
was also in the news after the vandals shot dead
three NNPC engineers who had gone there to repair
vandalised pipes.
Since the alleged termination of the OPC’s contract,
NNPC pipelines running through Arepo community
have continued to face disruption. Some other
communities are also suffering similar fate. There,
stealing of petroleum products is the order of the
day. Once the vandals are through, the locals move in to scoop free fuel gushing out from the vandalised pipes. In those areas, vandalisation of oil pipelines has become an elevated trade which the high and mighty are surprisingly involved in.
A resident of Arepo who did not want his name
mentioned told our correspondent in low tone that
“only a genuine political will and government effort to fight the menace would curtail the vandals’ activities.”
A resident of Journalist Estate, Arepo, who also
craved anonymity because of the sensitivity of the
issue, lamented that since the OPC men were
withdrawn from the sites, the vandals had raised the
tempo of their activities.
According to him, the ethnic militias were doing a
good job but in an unprofessional way. He called on
President Muhammadu Buhari to set up a special
task force comprising mainly officials of the Navy
who to tackle the vandals and reclaim their
territories. He said: “I believe these vandals have the
backing of certain powerful forces, otherwise, their
activities would have been checkmated long ago.
Even people who were once in government or still
serving are benefiting immensely from the vandalism. It is their major means of making money.
If Buhari’s government would look into it, let him set
up a special task force to tackle it. Let adequate
punitive measures be meted to anyone who
sabotages government’s efforts.”
He noted that only concerted efforts of government
security agents would curtail the incessant cases of
bunkering in most parts of the country, adding that
“In the meantime, Arepo community where so much
illegal activities are taking place is at the mercy of the vandals.”

Politics › Probe Of Controversies by geesilver(op):
SINCE the emergence of President Muhammadu
Buhari, one word that has literally remained a
recurring decimal is ‘Probe’. From the inception of his
administration, he did not hide his determination to
make those who had shortchanged Nigerians to
account for their misdeeds.
For many, it did not come as a surprise when
President Buhari said he would probe the admin
istration of his predecessor, Dr Gooduck Jonathan.
During the 2015 electioneering campaign, President
Buhari had assured that his government would be
interested in looking at the past administration and
immediately after the March 28 presidential election,
there were calls in several quarters for him to probe
Jonathan’s five-year tenure.
So, given the anti-corruption stance of the President,
many are in agreement on the need for him to beam
his searchlight on previous administrations in the
country. The thinking of those in this school of
thought is for the government to have a holistic
approach in the fight against corruption.
However, in all of these, what came as a surprise to
many was the declaration by the federal government
that the probe will be restricted only to the
immediate past administration headed by Dr
Jonathan.
The Presidency had in a statement issued by
presidential spokesman, Mr Femi Adesina stated that
the new administration will only probe its
predecessor.
Adesina, who is the Special Adviser to the President
on Media and Publicity had stated that: “If you recall,
that was already settled before he got inaugurated as
president. He has said he will not waste time digging
into the far past.
“The far past includes Obasanjo and others. But the
president has said he will not waste time to go that
far.”
Since the government declared its stance on the
probe of Jonathan’s administration, there have been
a flurry of reactions, with various stakeholders taking
divergent stands on the issues.
While a school of thought, especially members of the
ruing All Progressives Congress (APC) think there is
nothing wrong in probing only the Jonathan
administration, another school of thought says the
government must be able to draw a line between a
probe and a witch-hunt.
Those in this school of thought believe that limiting
the probe to Jonathan will be nothing but a witch
hunt and Dr Jonathan corroborated their position in
one of his speeches after the election. Many insist
that Buhari should extend the probe as far back as
1985, when he was ousted by General Ibrahim
Babangida in a coup d’etat or at least begin his probe
from the inception of the current democratic
dispensation in 1999.
Since 1984 when the Buhari military junta was
toppled, seven persons have ruled Nigeria. They
include: Babangida, Ernest Shonekan, Sani Abacha,
Abdusalami Abubakar, Olusegun Obasanjo, Musa
Yar’Adua and Jonathan. Obasanjo, Yar’Adua and
Jonathan governed the country from 1999 to May 29,
2015.
It is almost a national consensus that those who
piloted the affairs of previous governments in the
country have lots of questions to answer about the
way and manner they managed the nation’s
resources.
That being the case, many wonder why President
Buhari would be interested in probing five years of
Jonathan and leave out eight years of Obasanjo and
barely three years of late Yar’Adua. Some people also
wonder why President Buhari would ignore the
military regimes which succeeded him as head of
state, especially as those periods have been variously
described as the years of the locust.

Career › Boy, 12, Trip, Accidentally Rips Hole Into $1.5m by geesilver(op): 10:34pm On Aug 26, 2015
A 12-year-old boy in Taiwan accidentally ripped a
hole into a 350-year-old painting by Baroque artist
Paolo Porpora that's worth over $1.5 million,
according to the exhibition's organizers showcasing
the painting. The boy was caught on security footage
this past Sunday at "The Face of Leonardo, Images of a Genius" exhibition in Taipei, according to the
exhibition's Facebook page.
The video shows the 12-year-old tripping over a rope barrier and trying to catch his balance on the 17th- century oil painting titled "Flowers." He accidentally punches a hole the size of a fist into the painting and looks around, apparently in shock, when he gets up.
The painting, 6.5 feet tall, was being restored on
Monday by a Taiwanese art restorer before it was
shipped back to Italy, according to Sun Chi-hsuan, the head of exhibition co-organizer TST Art of Discovery Co., Taiwanese news network Central News Agency (CNA) reported.
The exhibition was also temporarily closed Monday
morning but reopened in the afternoon, during which an 80-centimeter distance was maintained between each painting and visitors, Sun said. The boy who accidentally damaged the painting was
very nervous, but curator Andrea Rossi asked that
the boy not be blamed and that the family not be
asked to pay for the cost of the restoration, CNA
reported. The station added that an insurance
company would cover restoration costs and
compensate the owner of the painting. "All 55 paintings in the venue are authentic pieces and they are very rare and precious," read a post on the exhibition's official Facebook page. "Once these works are damaged, they are permanently damaged... We hope that everyone can protect these precious artworks with us." "The Face of Leonardo, Images of a Genius" exhibition is showcasing 50 original paintings by prominent artists from the Italian Renaissance period to the 20th century, according to the exhibition's website.

Fashion › I Find It Hard To Live My Real Life—funke Akindele Laments by geesilver(op): 10:00pm On Aug 25, 2015
Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, has disclosed
since playing the comic Jenifa character in her self-
produced movie some years ago, she has found it
very difficult to be her real self in life away from the
set.
According to Funke, she finds it hard to live her life as Funke Akindele rather than as Jenifa, which she is
well known for. She disclosed her bitterness in fighting within herself to separate her comic character from her real person.
“Well, it’s beginning to affect me now, though it
wasn’t like that before because it used to be just a
movie.
"When you give me a script for a role in a movie, I get into it and it takes me like three months to get out of it; it’s that bad because I go really deep into it.
"For example, it took me about six months to get out
of character in ‘Maami,’ and for ‘Omo Ghetto,’ it took
me almost a year to get out of it. For Jenifa, it’s been
difficult and no thanks to my fans who always want to see the Jenifa character and not Funke,” she told
E-247.

Career › German Woman Living In A Train To Avoid High Rent Payment (photo) by geesilver(op): 10:18am On Aug 25, 2015
In a desperate to avoid paying huge house rent, the lady pictured has packed her belongings into a fast- moving train.
The 23-year-old German student identified as Leonie
Muller from Stuttgart gave up her $450 apartment
and packed her entire wardrobe, laptop, wash bag
and textbooks into a travel bag and moved into a
fast-moving train that costs her $380 monthly.
Hear what she told Washington Post recently:
“It all started with a dispute I had with my landlord,I
instantly decided I didn’t want to live there anymore
and then I realized: Actually, I didn’t want to live
anywhere anymore.”I want to inspire people to
question their habits and the things they consider to
be normal, “I really feel at home on trains, and can
visit so many more friends and cities. It’s like being
on vacation all the time,” .
Her $380 subscription fee will allow her to board
every train in Germany for free.
The college student now takes her shower in the train bathroom and write her college exams as the train travels at 190 miles per her. Leonie Muller says that she enjoys the freedom she has experienced since she gave up her apartment.

Sports › 13 Incredible Incident That Occurred During A Sport Game. by geesilver(op): 7:00am On Aug 24, 2015
13. Rogue Masseur Keeper Prevents Goal
What about this for a cracker eh? Aparecidense team masseur entered the field during a fourth-division game in Brazil with Tupi to prevent them from scoring. Funny enough, the masseur actually looked like a fairly decent keeper, saving two shots before making off.
A sports tribunal ultimately decided to remove the
club from the league. Bizarre incident.

12. Lightning Only Strikes Once, But it Hurts!
This is horrific. Joao Contreras was struck by
lightning during a cup match in Peru. The lightning
also struck the linesman but both recovered soon
after in hospital. Understandably, the match was
abandoned. Something you really don't hope to see ever again -

11. The Strangest Corner-Kick Ever Taken
Ever heard of unplayable conditions? Clearly the
referee of this match in Kazakhstan never has. Just
look at the state of the pitch! When he tries to throw it to an area where the ball isn't at risk of floating away, he is ordered by the referee to replace it in the corner.

10. Faubert Dozes Off on the Bench
Julien Faubert's loan spell at Real Madrid was so
underwhelming for everyone involved that the
Frenchman appeared to fight some heavy eyelids
during a league match as he got a bit too comfortable on the bench. Madrid were playing Villarreal, losing 3-2 to a last- minute goal that confirmed bitter rivals Barcelona as champions.

9. Criticism That Bites: Fan Hurls Dentures at Manager
Managers can expect a few objects thrown at them
from time to time from dissenting fans, but one
particular Argentine supporter had a unique object
to invade the touchline with - his dentures! An Argentinos Juniors supporter Ricardo Caruso
Lombardi after the home side collapsed to a fifth
straight league defeat against Belgrano and slumped
closer to the relegation zone. Refrain from all dental

8. If You Invade the Pitch, Do it Naked...
Qatar and Scotland played each other in a friendly,
with the Scots winning 1-0, but nobody is going to
remember this match for the scoreline or the
countries involved.
The man, who had perhaps had a few too many tins
of Stella, strolled nonchalantly across the pitch, with
security apparently on their lunch break. He then
shook the hand off a player. Finally, he was escorted
from the field, but it was too late - nobody could
unsee this.

7. "Piojo" Herrera Goes Super Saiyan
Former Mexico boss "Piojo" Herrera is hardly known for being a sanguine character on the touchline, but his antics here are even slightly erratic for his standards. Of course, he didn't ACTUALLY go Super Saiyan, like in Dragonball Z - but he certainly risked an aneurysm with his arm-flailing antics.

6. The Gravesinha
When Thomas Gravesen entered the field of play for
Real Madrid here, he was clearly attempting to
channel his inner-Raging Bull. Absolutely rampaging into challenges and screaming at his team-mates, Gravesen confirmed what would happen if you ever overcooked his Sunday Roast...

5. A Rather Unfortunate Wardrobe Malfunction
The following video is exactly why you see footballers wearing those skin-tight shorts under their actual kit shorts. Not suitable for children! The hilarious thing is that the player stands up tall and looks down at his manhood, not seeming to care that it was exposed to thousands of fans and TV cameras.

4. Footballer Chancing His Arm With Female Ref
Hertha Berlin defender Peter Niemeyer was caught
on camera touching Steinhaus’ left breast during the
match against Alemania Aachen. But before the big
sexism in football debate ensues, it was clearly an
accident.
Luckily for Niemeyer, the 31-year-old official laughed
off the incident after initially raising her eyebrow at
the player. According to the player, the ref was
standing further away than he thought as he was
going to pat her on the back.

3. Acrobatic Throw-In (Try That Rory Delap)
Because sometimes a long run-up is simply not
enough. This Brazilian woman footballer felt it
wasnecessary to launch her set-piece using a bit of
acrobatics.
Undoubtedly impressive, it did seem to add
significant power and range to her throws. Hmmm,
have you ever seen Rory Delap trying that? Didn't
think so.

2. World Cup Final Pitch Invader prank
Some people just want to watch the world burn. At
least, Russian prankster and YouTuber Vitaly
Zdorovetskiy tried to anyway during the World Cup
final last summer between Germany and Argentina.
Cameras broadcasting the match cut away from
Zdorovetskiy to German coach Joachim Loew looking
disapprovingly at the pitch invader, and then to a
helicopter shot of the stadium. The invader had the
words 'Natural Born Prankster' written on his body.

1. Football on Wheels
There's not much to say about this other than it's a
player being transported from one end of the 'pitch'
to the other on a motorbike. I mean, how mazy can you be!? The pitch is about twenty yards long. Well, there you have it - now we've
seen everything!
