2..stop methylated spirit..its harsh.

try mild stuff like Savlon or dettol.

try like 500 ml of warm water...sock the wound well and wipe it thoroughly with the water with disinfectant. unt the wound looks fresh (RED)

repeat this twice daily.

apply procaine penicillin on it all the time.

you may read up on it..treating dog wounds

chief...am not a guru o but i have treated my dogs severally from injuries.

first, try smell the wound. if its giving you an offensive odour, then its infected.

try clean the wound..i advise you use mouth guard when doing this to avoid the dog biting you out of pain.
make sure you remove all the dead flesh from the wound.

you may now apply an y of these antiseptic wound vaseline you see around in vet shops...mostly are even locally made as cheap as 200 to 500 naira.


I have cleaned a wound like dat before, applied common ampicilin (red and black capsule) or procaine pelicilin and plastered it for 2 days.

i opened it the second day to clean it.

the summary is, keep the wound always clean and disinfected. dogs usually lick their wounds too and the saliva helps the healing.

am not an expert though but i think every dog heat cycle is complete unique. there is no time for all dogs to come on hear though other factors can contribute to this anyway.

that day, d guy learnt that jumping to the roof of a honda eod doesnt guarantee safety from these guys.

the gate was opened because i had some biker friends of mine with me while we were making some bbq.

the dogs were with us..all sat down waiting for thier shares.

the guy was actually my neighbors new drycleaner...he said when he saw d gate opened , he walked in and he got comfortable when he didnt hear any dog barking...

unfortunately, his issue started when the dogs saw dat he didnt come to us hence he wasnt part of the party guests.

he too panicked when he saw 6 dogs without chain

he dropped the entire stuff and took to the next car roof...3 dogs followed suit immediately.

i had to call d guys to order when i saw him on the roof of d car....i didnt see him coming and musik was loud too

meanwhile.. i forgot to add that i did not create this pattern.

i just discovered it from several observations.

now, if i need to add someone new to my house like my i got my 2 househelps, i just took them to Roonie at respective times

they followed me to feed them for a week and after that the courageous one took over the role.

she feeds them and put them back in their respective rooms in the cages while d other one that is still afraid after 3 months plus comes down to sweep and clean the feeding area.

just thought about sharing information about my experience of keeping multiple dogs at home and leading a pack.

this time i will focus on how they react to intruders, visitors and friends. (no aggression is tolerated in the pack is the ground rule...feeding is together)

first let me say i stylishly influenced and defined my pack by timing when a pup is brought home using the age, breed and temperament.

each individual in the pack has its own place in that social order. Without a leader and rules, a dog pack is confused, unstable and a constant conflict is inevitable.

my dogs leave in my garage separated from the rest of the compound by a gate.
whenever someone approaches the gate, Debbie will start to bark seriously to wake all the dogs or get their attention.

Roonie who keeps the database of everybody will run to check to determine if the person is a member of the compound, visitor (new or constant).
Nikki and Nikitta (Rotts) will charge awaiting decision of Roonie to either come along to join the attack or back down
Mama will be ready waiting to see if the 3 of the front line defense dogs will need muscle assistance to combat the intruder.
angel will be howling and waiting for opportunity to run about the house..not interested in d attack.

but if Roonie decides that this person is a part of the house..he signals and barking changes from agrresion to jubilation.

if roonie decides dat d person is a visitor but no need to attack (depending on his judgement of xter), he walks back..,guarding d person from attacks from others.

i have seen Roonie growled at d Rotts several times if they kept charging to attack someone Roonie has declared friendly

please as a rule...dogs digestive enzymes are activated by d content in their stomach....hence dont ever mix raw food with cooked food.

if u want to do raw meal..do raw...i.e lets a meal be same....

you can do raw today...cooked tmrw but dont do partly raw food mixed with cooked food..it will cause digestive issues.

i dont really know what to say right now. i am overwhelmed by the countless calls and BBM invites.

since this year, i have been leaving 5am to work and returning way after 10pm hence I have never had time to take recent pictures of the dogs.

i had 11 rott puppies and 4 GSD puppies at the same time november last year... it was fun for my family..i had 1 househelp then and my wife just got back as well.

we didnt loose anyone as well....both first time mothers

they were all 6 weeks old before xmas when my wife had to travel and my househelp too needed to go to her family for holiday..

hence I had to gave them out..since i couldnt feed them myself...work things..

now am expecting 4 bitches to whelp almost same too this time..my wife is back...i have 2 house helps and i will stay back to help till 6:50 am every morning before going to work.

trust me..my dogs dont eat unsupervised .
as a matter of policy...any dog dat as little as growl at the next dog is going off the food and they all know that.

some get carried away and growl and the next thing you hear is I call your name and say...INSIDE!!!... you need to see the remorse and regret on the face as the dog is reluctantly going back to his or her room.

the other funny thing is some will like to be smart....join the food galore (around 3 big size stanless trays placed beside each other and 2 buckets of clean water)...pick chicken or meat and take them back to their rooms and return to continue which the remaining fish mixed with indomie... i only allow that to fly my husky as she is not a voracious eater like d rest. if others try it... i will allow them to finish with the rest..while they are still eating..i will go and bring the starched meat or chicken back to the tray.

its funny and interesting when you have multiple dogs with different breeds and temperaments.

the most important thing is that you love and take care of your dog and you will marvel on the outcome.

see, in Nigeria...most breeder will try to condemn any dog that you did not buy from them even if you get the dog from the field after he or she just won championship competition.


ask yourself...what test did the vet conduct to determine the percentage ? dont get me wrong ..you can estimate the level of conformation of a dog to the breed by physical examination but dont let it get to you so much that you will now contemplate throwing your dog away.

on the lighter side...if you take a yoruba boy from ikorodu and another from lekki...of course there will be difference due to environment, feeding, parents and genetics but that doesnt make d ikorodu boy less yoruba.

take d same ikorodu boy to london...feed him well and see how he will transform if not better than the lekki own.
