rexbuton: The Biafran war caused disaster for the people of Anioma in several ways even though, the region was not included in the map of Biafran at the declaration. Ojukwu never added Anioma or Ika to his map **grins** Ojukwu never added anioma because anioma was not under the purview of his administration. It is the evidence that he wasn't a greedy man unlike what many hungry nigerian journalists portrayed him to be. Gowon and Awo would have called him greedy if he did. Even at that the Aniomas still stood and fought with their brothers from Enugu, Aba, Ebonyi as heroes. **LOLS** cc: Onenaira6 |
Politics › Re: Why Is South-south Often Referred To As 'the East'? by GenIgrigi: 6:26pm On Mar 15, 2015 |
OneNaira6: As others have said it's political created by the north and west to "liberate the minorities from Igbo" but the reality was they created it to make it easier for them to steal oil from SS without anyone questioning them. If SE Igbos were still in control of Eastern Nigerian, best believe the oil exploration and daylight stealing coming from yoruba and northerners would have been less than what it is today. I picked up on that shit as I age, the whole "giving minorities independent" was coined to distract us from the real reality. Let's think about it, I'm Igbo yet my people's land is in Delta thus I'm classified as a "SS". Why are my people under the political region created to "give minorities independence" from "igbo" and "yoruba". I recently befriended this dude that's from rivers but also igbo according to him. Similar to I, his people's land are in common day river thus classified as "SS". Why are his people under a political region created to "liberate minorities". I honestly started seeing it for what it truly is as I age. Let's think about it, after the creation of "SS", north exploration and oil thievery increased tremendously. Most oil blocks was giving out to either a northern or western and none to "minorities". Another one is that most oil companies headquarters were "liberated" out of rivers and delta and put in Lagos.
The entire nation is a huge cheat in my eyes. Coining words to validate their cheating. **grins** LOL @ bolded. My brother Nigeria is a funny place. The minorities were "liberated from Igbos" and their oil was in turn "liberated from them for tranfer to the North and SW". **LOLS**

NigerMan1: @ SirShymexx
Read what you wrote: "Those folks are a lost cause..."
First you sound extremely INSULTING and very rude. Anyway denigrating others achievement through insult and abusive words is part of Yoruba culture and social life.
So you can be excused for that.
Again you wrote this: "You shouldn't even be telling that much lies when ya king is called "Oba" - a pure Yoruba name with no meaning in Bini language looool."
My friend, herein lies one of the major reasons we have no histories in Nigeria today. You the Yorubas started rubbishing others. One of such claims was the word OBA is Yoruba origin.
Sorry that is a big lie. Check olden days history, there was no king in the olden Yorubaland known as OBA. In fact no Yoruba king use the title OBA. What we had was; Alaafin of Oyo, Olubadan of Ibadan, Ooni of Ife.
The first time the title 'OBA' was used for a king in present day Yorubaland was Oba of Lagos - which was fully established by Old Oba of Benin.
The Benin kings has been known as 'OBAs' for many centuries before they established one in old Lagos.
Again you wrote: "pure Yoruba name with no meaning in Bini language looool."
Is not pure Yoruba name. Oba is 100% Benin name with great meanings. Even many high chiefs of Benin origin are still in Lagos today such as the Obanikoro family.
The major problem of you the Yorubas is that of swollen headed ego, vaunting superiority that has lead to the crippling of simple histories. And you did not disappoint here. You really represent the Yoruba mindset. **grins** I am quoting the bolded for future reference **LOL** |

Sometimes I strongly shiver why many of you Yorubas have been wired to use derogatory words / terms to describe other ethnics and pulling down their age-old values and contribution to the black race.
THE GREAT BENIN EMPIRE
So the great Benin Empire, which was the biggest and longest reigning African empire in olden days has now become a thing to be abused or put down by you Yoruba?
First you claimed Benin was 'landlocked' - and this shameless statement can only come from a Yoruba fellow. Historically Benin Empire extended across the Niger sea, conquering thousands of communities in present day Niger Delta, some Igbo communities, down to Lagos.
In the course of this massive progression, they established (or influenced) many monarchies such as Itsekiri, some Urhobho, Onitsha and Lagos.
That was the reason it was termed "Great Benin Empire" by international historians. Please the Oyo Empire was not so called term in international circles.
ABOUT ITSEKIRI:
Sorry this is another Yoruba fallacy trying fervently coin our collective histories to promote your penchant for supremacy. Itsekiri land was originally founded by old Benin Obas, including their Monarchy. Along the line there were other influences including few Yoruba contacts especially those brought from Lagos.
ABOUT WHO MEET THE EUROPEANS FIRST
This truth is well known even in Primary school sociology and history that the Portuguese first landed at the 'byte of Benin' and met the Oba. Trade, commerce, scholarship were exchanged. Even the slaves of the Benin Empire who were of Igbo, Urobho, Ijaw, Itsekiri origin etc benefited from those scholarship by going abroad for education.
Many did not return back to Nigeria!
ITSEKIRIS ARE NOT IJEBU:
Your so-called Ijebu forming Itsekiri is a twisted story which has remain the major plank upon which you guys love to write other history for sheer Superiority. And please I plead with you Yorubas to stop denigrating the Edo history and culture. **grins** If you Binis know what's good for you, you'd better not let anyone rewrite your history for you else your children will be conditioned believe historical lies written by strangers who wish to regale themselves with tales of Bini historical subservience to yoruba when it's actually the other way round. I warn you. **LOLS** |

SirShymexx: Stop faking the funk - you don't just translate words based on what they sound like. You judge them based on the meaning. Also, you have to use the premise.
Does the premise make any sense to you? Oh, white men called us onye ibo - hence we started calling them the same name loool. Yet they have other words for white people, with proper distinct meanings which represent white people in the same language.
Your Yoruba is questionable - and I doubt you're Yoruba. If I could know more than you do, then you can't be Yoruba. **grins** Shut da hell up, so because she is being objective her yoruba origin becomes questionable. LOLS. Like safarigirl said, if some stranger mispronouces words like Onye Ibo/Oyibo, the indigenes may use that mispronouced word to identify that stranger since they had no previous name for him. This is common sense, it happens almost everywhere. Mr quasi-intellectual please stick to your burger-frying and scrapping by to make ends meet.**LOLS** |

Am a new writer so pls bear with me
Mods, I'd like this thread to remain in the romance section. Thanks
Peeping through the window of my father's car, I felt a strong breeze of freshness indicating a new life, a life far better than the academic ease and fame I experienced in secondary school. Getting closer to the student affairs unit, I tucked my head below the window level cos I didn't want fellow freshers, who were already converged at the building, to see me in my father's car, cos I believe they'll certainly think am an "omo mummy". I was seated in the back sit, so my dad, who was driving, and his lecturer friend (who is billed to help me change my course from the damn agric science I was offered to my real choice which is an engineering course) couldn't see the little drama I was performing at the back. Few minutes later, I was in the queue waiting to be registered. I did all I could to hide my files from perceived prying eyes cos I didn't want anyone to see that I was offered an agricultural science course, something I consider an insult to my person, cos I was too brilliant to deserve such. Haba! I was head boy in high school and cleared all my papers scoring 284 in jamb and far above average in post-ume. Lost in thought, i didn't know what caused a rumble that almost had me stampeded by the queue members which saw the content of my file scattered on the bare floor. It was like my world was ending. My pride was bruised as I felt like a hen whose anus got exposed by the wind. I was still busy staring at the content on the floor, or so, hoping someone would burst into laughter, when I saw a neat hand stretching something to me. Looking up to see the owner of the hand, I got blown into emptiness- my brain became empty. She looked like something that takes your eyes away forever. She muttered some words which I couldn't quite pick cos I was really lost. It's really something awful or awesome to be faced by an extremely beautiful lady at the very moment of one's embarrassment. The beauty adds to the embarrassment. To quickly escape the situation, I decided to start from what led to me looking at her face, which was my file and its content laying bare. Looked around, couldn't find my file on the floor, that was when it occurred to me that the stretching hand might have it, and truly it did. I quickly collected it from her as she turned around and left.
I spent the whole weekend arranging my self-contain room at an hostel in under g area cos my school is a non-residential type. Bought a rug, fan, a TV set, gas cooker, refrigerator, generator and many other things to ensure I lived a comfortable live on campus, all thanks to my mum who runs a huge store in lagos island. Weekend came and went, so I was in class for my first lecture. 1000LT was packed to the brim with noise booming. Saw so many faces, even an high school classmate whom I dodged from, I guess you know why. I looked around for a seat which I couldn't find till I spotted her. Sade is her name- the girl that embarrassed me with her beauty. She had a seat beside her which was occupied by a bag, perhaps her bag. I decided to approached her to thank her for the other day and to also use the opportunity to sit beside her, where the bag is till the owner comes back to reclaim the seat.
Me: hello Sade: hi (with a smile) Me: thanks for the other day Sade: what other day? Me: you helped me pick up my file from the floor.
She rolled her eyes trying to recollect the incidence Me: at the students affairs unit, remember? Sade: oh yeah, but I wasn't the one that picked it up, I was only asked to pass it to you Me: oh, thanks Sade: No P
Shaking, I managed to summon enough courage to ask if I could sit beside her which she obliged. She lifted the bag and placed it on her robust thighs gluing my eyes. Sade is a girl with some much curves and very voluptuous. She's caramel in complexion and very fresh with a huge dress sense- almost like a diva. You could sense that she comes from a neat home by her cleanliness. As I sat beside her, I looked back and noticed some rough looking guys set their eyes on me. They looked pissed at me. They had baseball caps on; one wore red, another yellow and the last had multiple colours. This can't be cult boys cos rival cultists can't roll together.
" Good day everyone", mr abbas greeted as he made to the board to start the day's lecture. I brought out a fresh exercise book and made to write when sade looked at me and laughed. I wondered why, but I loved it.
Sade: is this your first day in class? She smiled Me: yes, how did you know? Sade: your note is empty
I wanted to hold the conversation but mr abbass started dictating, so we glued our eyes to our books. As an efiko, I had the ability to write fast cos I always guess the next words from the beginning of the dictated sentences. I noticed sade was lagging behind, so I offered to be mr abbass's loudspeaker as I repeated all he said to ensure sade gets them clearly. I was really having fun as I cross checked her note with mine to be sure she was on the right track. I looked back to check whether those cult wannabees where still looking at us but couldn't find them. Mtchew, the unserious types. That was when it occurred to me that they were simply there because of my sweetheart. I must have spoiled their show. "They'll certainly be waiting outside for her to step out before approaching her", I said to myself. I concluded that I'll make sure I follow her to wherever inorder to keep her safe from the guys, even when I knew they meant no arm and would only want to have a chat with her.
To be continued... **grins** How are you Tsolaye arode williams?. You are only boy in your family, no wonder you love behaving like a girlie insurgirl. The operatives send their greetings. Enjoy. **LoLs**
