Government still have stake in it.

NTEL is just being lazy and dumb with everything.

You see ehn, no telecommunication company in the country have the kind of infrastructures NTEL have right now. Why they are not utilising it to full effect is what I don't understand. My dad used to work with NITEL before the flawed privatisation.

Ntel have one very tall mast in my location but the coverage area is wide. Don't know why they are lazy tho.

please my phone was stolen today is there anything i can do ,its offline

Was your Mi Account signed In? If yes the phone is useless to that person. You can also sign in to your mi account with any device that have access to internet i.mi.com to wipe the phone.

WorldGreatest1:
I did. I have downloaded my contacts from Google in .csv format, trying to see if I could convert .csv to .vcf so I can import my google contacts.
I'm using K20 Pro.

Downside of Chinese ROM. did you Sideload GAPPS from the Mi Store?

Happy Sunday Xiaomites
I have been monitoring my data usage for a while now, and discovered the major data zapping apps are my whatsapp and ucbrowser. For whatsapp, media is not on auto download, the culprit is my "status" and my terrific 4f network isn't helping matters. You would hav watched a status before you realise it's a mumu video but befit you can "next" it, the video don buffer finish.... Mb don go. Within 5mins, 100mb fit Don go. So I think I know how to handle that one.... Will be avoiding videos... Only text and pix now... While avoiding those ones that their timelines are like beads..... Too many pix
About uc browser, I only check nairaland on it and many a times spend time on threads without pix or less pix, yet after loading like 10 threads, 30mb would have gone. Image quality is on low, and ads blocker has been enabled long ago, I stil can't comprehend the reason for the data zap.
I tried opera mini in the early hours of today and spent almost 1hr there even in pages with many pix, I was amazed the data consumed is not much. The thing is.... I enjoy accessing nairaland on uc browser than on opera mini and the newer versions of opera mini don't have memory (when you launch the browser after using it in a while it reloads the pages, is does start from where you left off). Sometimes, you outrightly lose the page you were currently on esp if you have several tabs open cos that current page will be on "home" page.
Is there a setting I am missing on my ucbrowser or does anyone know a version that consumers lesser data?

WhatsApp Status is the culprit. Ucbrowser is still learning compared to Chrome in data consumption

okikiosibodu:
Obrigado. For knowledge sake, please how do you know regions that have special features?

It is not a special feature persay just that Mexico was among those that got the update first. As for special features apart from font for example India no other big deal. If you follow Mi Community (Formerly MIUI Forum) you would be getting some of these infos

michaellovaldo:
Goodday sir

jboixxx:
If you're having so much issues with Gmail sync, just export your contact to your memory and import it to your yahoo mail, and make your mail the default contact storage.
I'm believing you're on Chinese ROM.

I didn't even think of the Chinese ROM angle

WorldGreatest1:
Please where do I sign in?
'Cos I downloaded Gmail app and signed in my Google account.

Do you have sync turned on and did you sign into your Google account from settings>sync>add account?

olayinkajnr:
And most of them can't be uninstalled. Especially that annoying facemoji keyboard.

True

okikiosibodu:
Acknowledged. By the way, I need some clarification on this pls. I went to setting>About phone>System update and saw 531mb. But when I went further to "Download latest packages", I was 1.7gb. Pls can you shed more light on the difference?
I typed everything before but it got wiped off by my browser. Had to type again.

One is the full ROM (1.2) and the other is incremental updates. Just do the incremental updates. Also switch to Mexico and update to version 10.3.12 then switch back to Nigeria

As seen on twitter

okikiosibodu:
Acknowledged.
When you changed regions did get update for your OS afterwards (maybe as at then, it had some features India region had that your former region didn't) ?

You will get updates but the timeline might not be in line with other regions

okikiosibodu:
@Genius43... What does one stand to gain or lose for changing region to India?

Apart from the font stuff not much gains. But loss, a lot of added bloatwares.

Poshguy2:
Downloaded fonts can be accessed from the page section. The feature is present already.

Which region are you using?

BoleAndFish:
Great. Thanks to all those that protested.
One feature I'll love to see in their next update is having a section in my page (themes) where we can access downloaded fonts. Also, if we can have a button to toggle between front camera and back camera while doing video recording.

For regions other than India right? We will get there when we have alot of users of Xiaomi in Nigeria. They gave us face unlock within a month of coming to Nigeria so it is possible

okikiosibodu:
Eeyah. Thank you. Was discussing with a friend and we had a kind of funny argument. I was of the opined that if nitel was well managed and stil in existence till date, Internet subscription would hav been freaking cheap cos there would have been mad ass competition between private telcos and government telcos, with government own having a tendency of providing cheaper service. So the private ones will be forced to make more enticing offers....
You you subscribe to this school of thought?

True, but we know the possibilities of that happening in Nigeria is slim to nil

okikiosibodu:
Pls is this wawu sim stil available?

Wawu is dead and gone

BoleAndFish:
Honestly, if I had to do all these before installing gcam on my redmi 7, Lord knows I no go bother myself with am.

You guys are enjoying the fruits of several protests and polls by users of older Xiaomi devices.
