During the event, LG brought to the region its latest innovations in OLED technology; including its flagship 97-inch LG SIGNATURE OLED M, the world’s-first consumer TV with Zero Connect technology which enables the transfer of 4K video and audio, wirelessly at 120Hz. This iconic feature resolves all cable management nightmares and allows for an uncluttered space by having all devices connected to the Zero Connect Box and positioned away from the TV.

Also featured during the event is LG’s innovative StanbyME Go, the 27-inch FHD smart screen that boasts a unique carry bag design, that allows users to easily with them on-the-go. It keeps mobility in mind with its unique design and a built-in battery that lasts up to three hours of screen time. It comes with various connectivity options such as wireless mirroring and NFC, which can be activated with a simple tap. The screen itself also rotates, giving users the option of a vertical or horizontal orientation. In addition to the streaming options, screen is also ideal for listening to music with its turntable skin or for playing chess with the pre-installed Chess game. Customers can also control the unit through voice control, even from a distance. The unique design of the StanByME Go promises enhanced durability, keeping the screen safe from bumps, temperature fluctuations, low pressure, dust, salt fog and vibrations.

During the course of the event, LG also showcased its latest LG webOS which brings to the table a completely revamped home screen with wider title cards and smoother tiles for categories such as Game, Music and Home Office. The smart operating system, now celebrating its 10th anniversary, expanded into 300 TV brands and 3,500 content partners, including local partners and has an active user growth increase in the MEA region by 20 times.

LG also showcased its new α (Alpha )11 processor that will be used in its flagship TVs, one that will deliver powerful AI capabilities and enhance the overall viewing experience. This new processor, is four times more powerful than its predecessor and will refine clarity, color and sharpness, as well as providing a 70 percent improvement in graphics performance and a 30 percent faster processing speed.

LG displayed its range of XBOOM speakers which deliver bold and loud sounds with strong bass and massive sound. For instance, the LG XBOOM XL9T, the most powerful-in-class party speaker, produces immense sound of 1000W with booming base and high notes. Additionally, the pixel art and multi color ring lights further step up the party. Its smaller variant, the LG XBOOM XL5S with a 200W output for powerful party music, complete with the series’ iconic party lighting. Amongst these audio products, LG presented their portable speakers, such as the XBOOM Go XG8T, a 120W speaker with 15 hours of battery life. This on-the-go speaker not only packs a powerful punch in audio but can also boost sound further and turns up the party with its studio light feature. Also on display were the LG XBOOM Go XG7Q and the compact XG5S with a 30W output and 20W output respectively, which comes in a unique design with ambient lighting, perfect to set the mood. It is also IP67 rated, making it the perfect musical companion for the outdoors.

Additionally, LG showcased the LG TONE Fit TF7, which focuses primarily on comfort, convenience and immersive sound. The LG TONE Fit TF7 offers a superior fit for fitness enthusiasts, ensuring customers can focus solely on their workout without any distractions. Featuring a patent-pending skirt shape hook, these earbuds offer optimized fit and usability for various outdoor activities. It is crucial to proactively tackle water-related issues to prevent conflicts and encourage collaboration for sustainable water management.

A series of events took place to celebrate this special day from the Peace walk around FCT to the special press conference with all the relevant partners, international NGOs, Federal Ministries representatives, and private corporations.

Speaking at the commissioning of the solar-powered borehole, the Minister, Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev said; “We are extremely happy to celebrate yet another World Water Day with everybody and in particular with the donation of this borehole which is most significant of the celebration. The Gudu Community is grateful for this”.

“All year round we sensitize and celebrate the day to bring attention to one of the leading environmental issues, the scarcity of water.” Water is life, and we cannot even imagine our life without water. Water means a lot to us more than just quenching our thirst, but it plays the role of a vital component of human development; This day provides us an opportunity to think about this issue and how we can make a difference”

The Minister additionally said “Around 2 billion people around the world do not have access to clean and safe drinking water, and approximately 3.6 billion people – 46% of the world's population – lack adequate sanitation services, according to a new United Nations World Water Development Report released. This is a major contributor to the spread of waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and diarrhea”
Prof. Utsev added, “In Nigeria, approximately 60 million people lack access to safe water sources, leading to numerous health challenges and impeding socio-economic development.” Hence we need to keep appealing to corporate organizations such as what LG Electronics has done today to provide good drinking water for vulnerable communities like Gudu and all across the country so we can gradually reduce the numbers”

Also, at the event, the Managing Director, LG Electronics, Mr. Hyoung Sub Ji thanked the Ministry for the opportunity to collaborate with them to contribute to the community. Meanwhile, LG Electronics also marked its highest-ever achievement with a total of 33 Innovation Awards for the technological and design excellence of its latest lifestyle solutions, CES® 2024 Innovation Awards across Home Appliance, Home Entertainment, and B2B categories, including two coveted Best of Innovation Awards for LG OLED TVs.

LG’s winning streak encompassed video displays and content (19) and OLED TVs (12). The OLED TV, launched in 2013, has consecutively secured CES Innovation Awards for 12 years. LG’s proprietary smart TV platform, webOS, was also recognized for its innovative edge. In addition, LG’s next-generation home appliances, like the LG StanbyMe Go and LG Signature Washer-Dryer received awards in various categories.

The zone also featured other TVs, including the Posé, a lifestyle TV from the LG OLED Objet Collection, which also elevates the home as an object of décor. The LG StanbyME Go, with its portable briefcase design, adjustable 27-inch touchscreen and 3-hour battery life, prioritizes user convenience and offers ultimate flexibility for on-the-go entertainment.

The zone featured more than just TVs. Unveiled for the first time at CES, the LG gram Pro 2-in-1 is the newest model that takes the ultra-lightweight, compact design and powerful performance that LG gram is known for to the next level. Next to the LG gram Pro, visitors had the opportunity to try out the newly unveiled LG MyView Smart Monitor, equipped with LG’s webOS platform, providing access to OTT streaming services, home office applications and various content, all without the need for a PC connection.
LG’s smart TV platform, webOS, provided a wealth of entertainment and engaging experiences, aligning with LG’s objective to transform into a media and entertainment platform company. Inviting users to explore the world of entertainment powered by webOS, the ‘webOS Experience Zone’ comprised numerous self-lift OLED displays playing an endless stream of content from webOS content partners. Placed at the end of the tunnel, the 97-inch LG OLED M stood as LG’s first 4K 144Hz wireless TV, powered by Alpha 11, the world’s first processor dedicated to OLED. This innovative technology played a crucial role in ensuring lifelike picture quality and immersive, space-filling sound by adapting to the viewer.

Next, the ‘Smart Home’ zone highlighted CEO William Cho’s insights shared during LG World Premiere, where he introduced the concept of redefining AI as “Affectionate Intelligence.” To offer visitors an idea of the rich ecosystem created by LG products and connected through ThinQ, the zone was filled with a wide variety of LG appliances equipped with AI-supported intelligent sensors, optimized to study and analyze users’ unique life patterns to generate data that can be used to train LG’s AI.
At the zone, visitors were able to witness a demonstration of LG’s smart home AI agent, an all-around home manager and companion that showcased the company’s commitment to realizing the vision of a “Zero Labor Home.” The AI agent, featuring an advanced ‘two-legged’ wheel design, autonomously navigates through the home. Leveraging multi-modal AI technology, it possesses the capability to comprehend context and intent, enabling seamless communication with users.

After exploring LG’s TVs and home appliances, visitors moved on to see how LG is expanding into new spaces, starting with mobility. Introduced at IAA Mobility in September 2023 and showcased for the first time at CES 2024, LG Alpha-able proposed a future mobility experience where vehicles transcend mere transportation functions, evolving into spaces for efficient use of time and diverse experiences.
The zone also featured the EV Charger section, demonstrating LG’s capabilities as an integrated solution provider in the mobility space, with LG e-Centric standing as the company’s solution for the optimal operation and efficient management of EV chargers.

Transitioning to the ‘Commercial’ Zone, attention shifted to LG’s B2B products. The zone also introduced digitalized and eco-conscious HVAC solutions and Building Energy Management, delivering exceptional performance to commercial buildings.

At its center, ‘Bon Voyage’ showed LG’s take on a customized living space designed to extend the living space into nature. The comprehensive LG Home Energy Platform is a total solution for household energy management, heating and cooling that includes the Energy Storage System (ESS) and the Therma V™ R290 Monobloc air-to-water heat pump (AWHP).

LG’s Home Energy Platform is a complete energy solution for a more sustainable home. By combining the LG Electronics ESS, LG Therma V AWHP, the platform offers efficient heating as well as user-friendly energy management – including all spectrum from production and storage to usage and conservation.

The LG Therma V delivers year-round indoor comfort and, just as importantly, uses energy more efficiently than a traditional heating and cooling system. Targeting the decarbonization trend in Europe, the Therma V R290 Monobloc helps users to lower their household’s carbon footprint while extracting heat from the surrounding air by adopting R290 refrigerant, which boasts a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just three. t. It is also able to produce the high temperature of water that can be produced with existing old radiators.
