if you meet COAS first, you salute him, if CDS comes to join you guys, The COAS put you at attention and HE (COAS) salutes the CDS while you are at attention.

i believe if you see both of them at the same time, you salute the most senior officer which is CDS.

Please is it possible for a candidate to change from DSSC to SSC at any stage before training commences?

it subjects to Army Selection board discretion if you fall within the age needed for SSC. you will then have to resume as SSC instead of DSSC this is at the final shortlist.
Though it won't be forced on you, you will have the choice of accepting the SSC offer or quitting the Army dream. It happened in DSSC24/SSC45 2018 enlistment.

As regards issues about J boy and how tough he can be, Those of us who are 27 downwards and applied for DSSC, it's not Uhuru yet, don't be happy that if you get even to Selection Board you ain't gonna meet Jboy and his training doctrines, there are chances you will be issued SSC except maybe you are a doctor.
