This is in line with moving with the economic times given her possessing abundant petroleum resources. You can bring civilization to man, but you cannot force him to accept it. Yes, civilization has brought about modern communication channels, but what has civilization done about the issue of a common lay man who might not be able to afford the so called modern communication channels??

If one glances into the past, we find numerous examples where western cultural ethos has helped to remove superstitions, fallacies and disastrous acts from our own Nigerian culture.
One of such acts includes the killing of twins. It has long been a taboo in some parts of nigeria majorly the South-Eastern areas. Mothers who bore twins were thought to have had intercourse with Evil spirits and given birth to something monstrous and unnatural. The offsprings were brutally killed and the mother was shunned by her husband and cast out of the family.

The Last Nazgûl: It is common knowledge that the continent of Africa lagged behind other continents at the turn of the last century as the ways(culture) of the denizens of the continent were relatively primitive and leagues behind the developmental strides that had swept through Europe,cue the industrial revolution. Western civilisation introduced and has continued to introduce modernity to the African continent.

The Last Nazgûl: Culture is the benchmark of humans as it's places him in a class of his own, distinguished him from others. Culture possess certain intrinsic and unalienable features which sets it and those within it's ambit aside from others.

A definition of Western civilization would be a good place to start with. According to the free online dictionary, Western civilizations can be seen as the modern culture of western Europe and North America.
The world has been changing due to the growing influence of western cultures; and a result of these many people from different nations particularly our blessed nation nigeria come in contact with new ways of life that are totally unfamiliar to them. Today's generation, particularly the youth, are all out to ape the western culture. It has become a craze among the youth to have a lifestyle like that of westerners and the elders in the society state that our generation has become a slave of western culure.
