Problem with you Nigerians based in SA is that you like generalizing the rest of SA based on your surroundings.

Chances are that cleaner that you see living in an RDP house in the Gauteng province is saving enough money to build herself a comfortable house in her home province.. I've seen many of them building and renovating their homes in Limpopo.

I personally know a man that's living in a rented single room shack in Gauteng, but still managed to built a seven room house for his family back home in Limpopo that comes with a kitchen, living room, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms with his security guard salary... He also constructed a borehole for his family so that his household can have free water supply... The interior of his house is so beautiful, you'd think that maybe he's a high school teacher... But the company he worked for closed down in 2018 and he was unemployed for about two years while his wife worked as a creche teacher... Yet his family never lacked money to buy essential stuff around the house because he had been saving for years.

He got another job in 2021 as a professional Gardner for this other company and now he's building another five room house that comes with two bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room, and a double garage... He says the house is gonna be reserved for guests whenever they come for a sleepover... He's also made sure to take his two kids to some of the most outstanding public schools in Limpopo.

People who receive that amount and are comfortable are live in house keepers with free food and accommodation.

Decent accommodation starts from R3000 per month. Food R1500. What about data, transport, etc.

If you are in SA and you don't pay rent, within a year you are a millionaire in Nigeria.
