Why I have decided to ignore this mindset over times on this thread, I must say, this mindset too is dangerously shallow and narrow. Democracy by definition is the government of the majority. The Nigerian model of democracy isn't and shouldn't be a basics of comparison because the people are not allowed to exercise the power vested in them by the Constitution to chose their leaders. No thanks to an entrenched system of rigging that is now the norm in our elections.
Democracy: "demo":= people, "cracy":= power.
Democracy means power to all the people as opposed to power to a selected group of people.
Once again, it is not about "majority" but about giving all the power to all the people.

In a federation in which each federal unit has its own interests, it is very silly to go by popular vote. If you do go by popular vote, then the units with less demography would have no power and their interests would be nul and void. That is not what "all the power to all the people" stands for. Democracy is not about marginalizing people !

In your nigerian case, if you gave each ethno-political group the same voting power irrespective of demography then the rigging would become impossible. Indeed riggers would only be able to shortchange their own ethno-political group, not the whole country. Indeed if the north wants a northerner as president, even if they claim 10 billion people voted for him in the north, that would not affect the electoral process, the voting power of each ethno-political group wouldn't change according to its population or rigging power.

Your system is not workable, and you guys don't see it, which is why you keep it and marvel at the fact it is not working each time you have elections. An other drawback to your system is the fact each group is trying to greatly increase its population and therefor the country is rapidly going through intense overpopulation.

Mr. Ghost, perhaps you should continue with your math debate, you are actually quite good at it. Leave international politics to these guys, as they are very skilled in that area. I've been following this thread.
So a country which got its constitution in 1974 has a democracy which is older than the usa's democracy ?
Look what I don't tolerate is people who make their own facts. And to them, this is what I have to say:

It is ok to not be a fan of the usa, but don't change reality to suit your feelings.
As some people say, facts don't care for feelings.
Stop thinking with your feelings, use your brain instead.

Being skilled in mathematics doesn't eliminate me from geopolitical debates nor does it make me less skilled than others on geopolitics. I've basically been debunking the "skilled geopoliticians" for a while here. Also being a "skilled" geopolitician doesn't imply you are above logic and can make up your logic and your facts.

I agree You have a point in your first paragraph but your last paragraph is totally off. San Marino, Isle of Man, and Faroe Islands, are not new countries, they have existed for centuries, with their own histories and governments.
Clap for yourself, I guess I'm not allowed to guess on anything. @procashtips just dumped names of countries without providing any actual data on them. He expected me to go and do research for his own claim, therefore wasting my own time. I knew very well some of the countries he named and therefore easily debunked his claims on them, but for the ones which I didn't know, I replied by guessing they were new countries. Oh I was wrong. Clap for yourself again.
But just one simple fact San Marino's constitution is from the 1970's. How is that older than the USA's democracy ?

I find it hard to understand what type of silly game some of you are playing. @procashtips was just basically trying to have me waste my time researching his baseless claims.
I don't operate with you people's crazy rules of discussion where people don't need to prove their claims and it is those at the recieving end of the claims who need to do research on the claims. Here I've just wasted 5 minutes to find out the constitution of this unknown country is from the 1970's which debunks @procashtips claim of it having a democracy older than the USA's.

News flash: I don't know every country on earth !

You believe me asking you to prove your own claims is the same as me giving you homework?
No, that is just me reminding you of the logical rules of the world. You prove your claim, you don't get to delegate that to me.

Me : Really?

Now read the above again.

I wasn't in any debate with you, I just told you your assertion was wrong and even offered alternatives to your assertion.

It's left to a logic person to say, "I'm right, this is why".
To prove that American democracy is the oldest (without referring to official documents which say so), I would need to take every democracy on earth and compare their date of Inception to that of America.
You could have simply asked me to provide evidence to my claim, in which case I would have looked for such evidence (mostly in the form of official documents which make that claim, because I'm not going to spend two weeks verifying every democracy on earth). Instead you claimed I were wrong. To prove that American democracy is not the oldest in the world, it suffices to just show one democracy which is older, and you failed to perform that simple task.
I can be excused for believing that American democracy is the oldest if I were wrong, because it could be that my sources of information were wrong and doing the verification by myself is extremely time consuming, but you came here to say that America is not thr oldest democracy on earth, and you did so without a single older democracy to show.

Also, look, I'm not a student, I write books which specialists and students read, you seem stuck in studenthood.
Foreign AffairsRe: Russia-Ukraine War: World News, Weapons & Battlefield Discussions - Live by Ghostagain: 3:13pm On Mar 19, 2024
@procashtips.
When you make a claim, anybody is entitled to ask you for evidence, you are not entitled to ask people to prove your own claim for themselves, especially if you are in opposition with the other person. You are basically in a debate and asking your opponent to side with you in the debate.
It is weird that you thought you had a point.

I'm not here to argue with you

I just wanted you to correct yourself.

Use the internet. (You made the claim, not me, I only disputed your claim that had no evidence attached)

There are host of countries older than America when it comes to democracy.

Greece
Switzerland
Iceland
Finland
San Marino
Isle of Man
Faro Island

(you can prove me wrong by posting evidence of why America is the oldest and not any of the ones I listed above).

Do not take my words for it, do your research as a "logical" student you claim to be.

Note : When responding, remember the keywords you used "Oldest democracy in the world"
Ancient Greece and current Greece are not the same entity.
Also you don't seem to understand that we are talking about uninterrupted regimes. The USA democracy of today is the same government as that created roughly 200 years ago.
Switzerland... No, check the dates.
Finland ... Finland didn't even exist as a country until russian revolution saw it breakaway from Russia.

Dude, you don't understand that for your claim, you have to provide evidence. I'm not in the business of providing evidence for your claims, I have my own claims to prove and many people have claims as well, should I just spend my lifetime proving people's claims or should everybody prove his own claim ?
I thought you were smarter than this, but you are a product of your Nigerian environment.

"San Marino
Isle of Man
Faro Island"
I'm pretty sure these are new countries.

In a month, china can manufacture enough munitions that can turn Taiwan into Hiroshima but in a conventional way.

To me, China doesn't care about Taiwan even though they want reunification, china wants a father-like status over Taiwan the same way they're to Hong Kong.
The presence of the u.s is the sole reason behind the inevitable war in that region.
The u.s has created a lot of military bases in that region, using Taiwan to provoke china to war is their main goal.
If Taiwan allow themselves to be used as a battleground, they'll become Ukraine 2.0.

The only luck Taiwan has, is that china is not Russia.
Try to not contradict yourself when you write. I keep observing people here making statements in which they contradict themselves. China does care about its breakaway region taiwan ! You said it, china wants reunification, you can't say that and then also claim china doesn't care about taiwan huh
Also Hong Kong is totally part of china, china is not "a father to hong kong", hong kong is part of china and not a breakaway region.

Take care though, I'm tired today. Hard day.

My uncle and a friend of mine in the US are complaining about the lack of choice of candidates. They said they feel compelled to choose between the lesser of two evil, rather than selecting a candidate who genuinely aligns with their values and priorities.

The issue of the two-party system in the United States restricts choice for the electorate and undermines the diversity of political perspectives and ideas. With only two dominant parties,.

Furthermore, the Electoral College system, while designed with the intention of balancing power between states, has led to situations where the candidate who wins the popular vote may still lose the election, as demonstrated in recent history. This discrepancy between the popular vote and the final outcome undermines the democratic principle of majority rule.
You got things messed up, and I have corrected this misconception about democracy several times on this thread.
Democracy has nothing to do with "majority rule", don't confuse your Nigerian mindset with logic and situation outside Nigeria.
America is the oldest democracy in the world, and since inception they inscripted this rule which gave equal power to states irrespective of demographic comparison between states.
It has never been about "popular vote" !
It is actually more logical to not go by popular vote if you want every group to have its say, your Nigerian democracy is just about which group has bigger population or which group Riggs better. While with American democracy, it is about what each group wants, and that will be balanced by giving each group equal power.

In a multiethnic country like Nigeria, it would make much more sense to have a system of voting similar to the USA's. But since most Nigerians are extremely ill educated and don't really understand what democracy means, we have people like you judging America's democracy with the belief that Nigerian "democracy" is the model for all to follow.

I keep correcting this and people keep coming out to remake the same mistake, that is the problem with nairaland and Nigeria in general. This gets me aggravated.

From your document: "During World War I, it fell to the British forces and became part of the British Mandate of Palestine. Following the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, Egypt administered the newly formed Gaza Strip. It was captured by Israel in the Six-Day War in 1967."

They did that in the 1960s. Coalition of Arab states, including Egypt and Syria went against Israel that time. They lost the war woefully and also lost territories.

I guess the trauma of that loss is still affecting them till date, Egypt especially. Infact lower parts of Gaza were Egyptian regions lost to Israel in that war.

Houthis are yet to be traumatised by the loss of any major war. So their confidence level is still high.
Completely wrong, Egypt lost parts of the Sinai, and won it all back in an other war. You confuse Egypt with Syria, it is Syria's land (Golan hights) which are still occupied by israel. And I think parts of Lebanon are also occupied by israel.

Also it is revisionism to claim that "they went against israel". Actually israel attacked them "pre-emptively" with an army full with ww2 veterans from the ussr and america and europe.

Were did I say the elements in the sets A and B are limited. They can be represented A = {a1, a2 to an} where n is number of elements in A and B = { b1, b2 to bn} where n is also the numbers of elements in set B.

I only cite a simple case scenario, In the example above, C is in bijection with B (both sets have 4 elements) and the intersection of A and C is empty (no common elements).

This approach works even if A and B have the same elements. In that case, C will be an empty set, which is still in bijection with an empty set (both have 0 elements) and maintains an empty intersection with A.

BTW I am typing with a mobile phone so I can only do a little
1. What is your definition of "the number of elements of a set" ?
2. Why do you assume A and B are equipotent ?
3. I'm not asking for an example of A, B and C in which C and B are equipotent and (the intersection of A and C) is void. I'm asking you to give me a candidate for C whenever A and B are given. So you are quite out of topic.

But nice try.

And also, you can just GUESS who cut the cable and call him a terrorist while the known killer of more than 15000 children is OK by you.

Since C is in bijection to B, it means all the elements in C has one to one correspondence with the elements in set B.

And since the elements in the sets were not given, we can assume any numbers of elements for each sets and the result will all the numbers found in set B can be found in C but not in A.

Example let A = {6' 8, 10} and B = {5, 7, 9, 11}
C = elements in B not in A so C = {5, 7, 9, 11}
Sorry bro, you failed.

Who said A or B were finite ?
Also, you don't know what a bijection is.
Also, again, A and B are random sets, not specified sets. In other words, I am asking you to solve the problem for every couple (A;B) of sets.

Start with set B and Map each element in B to a unique element in set C to establish a bijection between B and C. Ensure that none of the elements in set C are also in set A, ensuring the intersection of A and C is empty.

You are given two random sets A and B, you have to find a set C such that ( C is equipotent to B and (the intersection of A and C) is void ).
