Wow! It ws d start of a brand new week.
It ws monday morning.
In d previous week,I had conquerd wat we reffered to as .." battle of auditorium"
D monday morning ws temperate,I took my bath hastingly n got 2 skul,by 7am.
I went straight 2 my faculty,n while in d shuttle I cud c students standin in d auditorium lik a swam of bees.I smiled cuz I new wat was up.
I got 2 my faculty,flanked on d left by Educatn n facin it was d road 2 ekosodin gate.
I got der n tried 2 find d place 2 do d faculty clearance.It dint take long as I saw a bunch of students around a door,den I knew I ws der.
I quickly devised a means by sharin numbas 2 evry1 der n signin behind so it cnt be duplicated.
I ws numba 38.It ws a sign dat less dan 100 had cleared in d faculty.
Now we wer told dat dos clearin us wil arrive by 10am.It ws abt 8.00,it ws early,I decided 2 visit d auditorium 2 c wats hapenin n perhaps meet som NL peeps.
D tempo in d auditorium ws tense, some girls wer crying,som wer soaked in their sweat,tins cudnt get worse.
Som had achieved little success since monday of d previous week,som jst arrivd 4rm Abj,som jst cam back 4rm their states n som jst startd clearance dat day.Boy! They had no idea wat ws ahead of dem.
I cud c d bank 4rm der,n a queue cudnt get longer dan d one I saw in d bank.

Art students wer forced 2 bcum soldiers as they formd little brutal queues in d auditorium wer dey compressed each oda lik sardins.
Pple pass betwn normal queues,bt in dis one,even an ant wil hv 2 go around.
I cud c som boys cashing in on d opportunity 2 romance d gurls whose back they wer standin.

It ws nt any easier 4 d Engineerin students as many passd true turbulances b4 getin cleared.
I had already done my GST registratn n
It ws nw almost 10am n I decided 2 go back.Abt 20 mins b4 10am,i got back n met abt 70peepz in queue,most of whom jst got cleard dat day.
Fortunately 4 me,my numbas stil stood as som1 helped manage it wen i left.Hence,i ws stil num 38.
Even b4 10am,dos clearin arrivd n kickd off immediately.
We wer confused as to how much it wil be,a frnd of mine who did faculty clearance in Medical sci sed dey paid 9,700.So I ws expectin 2 pay smtin close.Bt I ws surprisd 2 knw dat we r 2 pay jst 1,000.

D Faculty clearance,tut 2 be a lot easier becam a tog of war as dos who cam late tried to undermine d authenticity of d numbas.
Howeva,dey failed.N abt 1pm,it ws my turn.I entered,droped one of my remainin 2 files.I ws given d faculty prospectus,n a receipt.It was dat easy.
I left 4 d departmnt stage.
I got der,n der wer only 5 who wer der b4 me....I submitted d last file,wrote my name in som places n was done. It was jst 3pm n I had finishd.I ws more dan hapi.
All tru,i tried 2 kip a hapi luk n maintain my cool. I neva told any1 it ws stressful.I always sed it ws amazing.If u noticed,i neva used d word..."stress" until now.
D Major Clearance 4 me came 2 an end on 13th november.It took a lot longer 4 odas n 4 some,it ended jst few days b4 exam.
Howeva,d clearance ws nt all....der wer oda tins 2 stil handle like course registratn,payment of dews,collectn of Dpmt,faculty n skul I.dcards as well as dpmt,faculty n John Harris library i.d cards.Health clearance ws still der, Biometrics registratn,E-security registratn n many odas.

marvelling: Pls let's avoid any misconception here. Biotechnology is actually a great course to study but not in nigeria. Biology, biotechnology, botany, biochemistry, microbiology are just different branches of the same tree. They all overlap in many areas; so in essence, to reject one is to reject all! & to accept one is to accept all! if your parents have the money to send you abroad, pls study biotechnology but as long as you are here in nigeria and nigeria still remains the way it is, pls look for something else to study. Don't get it twisted!

Emzybrown: Owww my pretty ghyft, please stay put and study biotechnology unless you have a future ambition in medical field.... taking a cue from my experience i was first admitted to study biology in 2005, i rejected the offer and waited in my 200L to change to medicine, it didn't workout, i wrote jamb again and finally got into med lab, am due to graduate this year while my friend and colleague that was admitted into same biology with me graduated in 2009, through with nysc and presently working in NNPC, ANOTHER IS EVEN THROUGH WITH MASTERS. Forget what people say course you studied does not matter in Nigeria, unless you wanna contribute your own quota in medical field just like me.

i think biology nd plant science are on opposite sides of an issue.....it would avee bin preferable oif i had biology...bt dis biotech,hell no

marvelling: You'll loose a year and start again from 100l medicine & surgery. This is mainly because you are switching from one faculty to another and there are some remedial courses you might have to go for. The truth is that it is not easy, but its worth the try considering the precarious situation you find yourself in .Start making enquiries about the change of department/faculty process in uniben, people might try to discourage you but pls forge ahead irrespective of what you hear.
