I made my points on last year's thread, many called me names. They were overwhelmed with the new structures being put in place. They don't know mdcn accreditation is very stringent. And the incompetent council will remain mute until things go worse.but like I said earlier, someone must paid the prize. It's not a big deal.

That's it sha. Some persons must bear the cross. Even in nature, pioneer organisms suffer a lot, they start growing on the rocks with little nutrients and very harsh weather conditions but after a long length of years, they brave through and die in the end but beautiful is their achievements – that they have made large preparations of soil and nutrients, eventually the follow up organisms survive and live on. Such is life!

Many don't understand and unfortunately most of such schools may be having slow petitioning committee to follow hard after the cause.

It has come to this notice of the medical and dental council of Nigeria that some newly established medical schools end up admitting students into medicine without getting full accreditation from its council,It has vehemently warned against this several times. This could Actually be said of Delsu,Unibuja and the rest who admitted students into medicine without prior accreditation from the council, hence, subjected their students to frustration and Anxiety.Though, that of delsu has been resolved because they now have full accreditation, while that of uniabuja is nothing short of a collosal failure. It's worthy to note that the pioneer students of delsuth faculty spent 10 years before they graduated from medical school.Uniabuja medical students had spent 8- 10 years, yet, still in 300/400L.Great institutions like uniben ,Oau had suffered the same fate in the past. Now my point is,I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from trying out unimed but the person should it at heart that the journey may not be an exciting one at all. It's synonymous to paying a prize because life itself is a risk .the pioneer medical students of some of these institutions had paid the prize.A medical school without full accreditation doesn't worth the stress.God bless you.

I'm telling you bros. I wanted shaking when you mentioned Delsu but later got consoled when you affirmed their accreditation.
I've heard about schools that suffer these things. it's not easy. Benue state uni. spent almost 13 years going after being accredited only to get partial one last year. I also heard of a student who committed suicide after failing his mbbs and being converted to some other course. he was among the pioneer students and the pain was just too much for him; after all the time he had spent already and it just gets on and on that way.

it's not worth it ooooo...

Yh it happens when your Governor is a visionary Dr, they can set up a medical University in the state. They have NUC accreditation and for the MDCN, they got first visit in December and MDCN gave good reports. It's even on their site, they would be coming for follow up visit before clinical stage tho.

Wow!! that's really spunky! my former gov. was a captain and we never had any aeroplane talk more of an airport.. maybe he had plans for second tenure but that idea was a miss 'cause the prospected second tenure eluded him. And now we have a new gov. who has done nothing of one year in office.. civil servants being owed for 6months and my school currently on strike, demanding full pay before they call the action off.
I really commend your Gov.

The question obviously doesn't have an answer. It's not all questions asked by people that one can confidently say YES or NO. At times you just have to make people sit down and do their homework, this is information age for crying out loud. Nobody is laughing at any body's ignorance here; how are you even sure that he doesn't know the answer already and decided to be fooling around. I really envisage a society where young people will be informed and enlightened, and the best way to go about it is to educate yourself by yourself.
Normally, I would have ignored the post, but just recently I was in a group where educated people were arguing seriously on the MBBS/BDS dichotomy. A fellow even went as far as saying outrightly that BDS graduates don't know any thing apart from the teeth. lol. Could you imagine such level of ignorance? And when I finally decided to clear the air, I discovered that his dogma can awaken a dead elephant. So, maybe the guy that asked that question is that type of person, maybe only trying to start up a stupid argument here . so how do you make him change? It's by making him learn the hard way.
It has been said several times on this page, that one should only go for what he has passion for. Then why bringing such thing up again? Sincerely, without any apology. That's the dumbest question i have seen. I stand to be corrected.

Alright. No big deal Bro. we're the good guys right?
I do not think anyone would come here as it is to display prima Donna. That's what I think. But you know that's assumption because it lacks straight cut evidence to make it an imminent fact because anyone could actually come do otherwise.
Same way, it's hypothetical to say or maintain that same occurrence would have happened sir because there are no evidence for its factuality and knowing that, it should not have been held to conclusively to react to it the way you did. But it pays to be positive.
Information age: is that everyone should sort for knowledge themselves and not wait for anyone to come teach all and sundry. That's OK. But it's impossible to actually learn without people's aid directly or indirectly or the height of ignorance in the world would be humongous. We need each other to succeed please. We need to desist from "self-made attitudes and get on with along with everyone.

"Let those who stand help they who are willing to stand up" ..... and we'll all be good. Okay?
Please, no offense!! We're the good guys right? Yes we are!! God bless you Sire. I'm loyal Sire!

Politics / Niger Delta Militants: FG Backs Out On Use Of Force by GideonOmach(m): 1:59am On Jun 07, 2016
I thought it has not been shared, so I'm doing so. I thought it'll make some strings after FG deployed military there.
enjoy your reading pls.

Niger Delta Militants: FG Backs
Out On Use Of Force
| NEXT »
The Federal Government has decided to
back out of the use of force to address
the issue of Niger Delta militants
uprising against the blowing of oil
pipelines.
The Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr.
Ibe Kachukwu stated this at a ceremony
with the management of the Petroleum
Technology Development Fund (PTDF).
According to the Minister, the President,
Muhammadu Buhari has set up a
committee led by the National Security
Adviser to commence dialogue with
Niger Delta militants.
He stated also that the President has also
directed the suspension of force by the
military for sometime to find a lasting
peace.
He explained what the activities of the
militants have cost the government in
the last two months.
He said: “Over the last two months we
have probably lost about 600,000 barrels
from various attacks of militants in the
area. We are making efforts to see how
we can get those barrels back but
different from getting the barrels back is
getting the minds and hearts of people.
When citizens are unhappy about
something it is something you need to
engage.
“My first appeal will be to my brothers
who are engaged in these acts of protest
to sheath the sword and dagger and get
back to the table so that we can have
conversation as Nigerians. There is no
doubt that over the very many decades
of oil production a lot of things that
ought to be done in the oil geographical
environment may well not have been
fully done but not to forget that quite a
lot has also happened? The answer to
the issue will not be taking up of arms;
the federal government is committed to
continuing this dialogue.”

DUMBEST QUESTION OF THE YEAR.

That's not the dumbest question. that's a question pleading for clarity and your idea of it would have mattered.
Not laughing at people's ignorance when they desire to know and in the least not providing the answer to it. Is this how people are going to learn and come to the light they seek? and after all, Same us will come and throw blames onto Nigeria's head whereas when we were disposed to do something in our measures we only laughed.
Please, we must unlearn to laugh at people's ignorance or even if do so, not in a derisive tone and still help them, give better counsels. it's helpful and great to do so. thank you Sirs!

This is good news but it's going to bring bad weather soon if not handled carefully... how are we removing Post-utme when we don't have enough universities to bear the pass population of students.
Jamb does not have enough structures to present themselves and their intentions honest!
malpractice everywhere during their exams. Post-utme is efficient,
In as much as universities make money from it, they really help to judge and scrutinize the honesty of the pass candidates' credits.
This is going to rise more tensions than we used to have or know.

This is not Amelioration.

sorry for your loss sir, do accept my condolences (tho its coming late)

As regards the insurance scheme, I think its way overdue. Such schemes would save a lot of life and greatly improve our healthcare system. The fact is, I don't necessarily blame the doctors. Who is to say that the patient would pay after being treated?, What if the patient doesn't make it, who is gonna pay for the doctor's work, drugs, surgery, bed etc?

Even in the US, UK etc, you might be stabilize from dying by the hospital buh continued treatment won't happen unless your work covers health insurance, you are a part of a health insurance scheme or you're ready to pay cash. Hence, Dr. Gideon saying doctors down here are black devils in white coat and what not because they follow same(almost same) procedures doctors around the world follow is just TOTALLY WRONG!

laughs. please, I didn't say all. I had those in mind before I said so. but at least before we talk of all that, give a kind of first hand or emergency treatment first as the situation demands. make an effort first to save the life, when you've gotten underway, you can talk of all the sundries. you could do it as "no further treatment until the agreement is reached" fine. that's okay! I'm not saying they are not right. they are, considering the Nigerian settings. Nigerians are stubborn and arrogant at times but a little wisdom would do. but some are just more different from the others that's why I used the phrase "black devils in white lab. coats and white professions like this". I'm sorry that language lacks properness, so to speak but it describes some medics when you are in that situation especially, you're innocent of all those other people's arrogance and you don't understand the Doctor's own terms but a little wisdom would do and makes the difference.

Lol I ain't throwing blame tho, am just stating that there needs to be a system in place where healthcare is placed above money. If there is a system where every nigerian has health insurance then if the person has help issues rather than having the person making deposit here and there treatment can start spot on. I think that's what is used in UK not sure tho but corruption won't let it work.

If only emergency medical service had been applied maybe he may be alive or maybe not, would have been worth a try.
Apart from govt, nothing stops individuals from donating to help build wards and stock up their drugs. Then again what do I know,

Eyaaaa... I'm sorry about that Sir. I believe God wants the best for all of us no matter what it is and how ugly it is. Ya'll should read this article written by eddykurrent, really insightful on the state of emergency health care in Nigeria

http://thenationonlineng.net/death-faster-cheaper-help/
A lot of avoidable deaths Sir. I heard of an accident that happened to two persons while they drove home. One of them died immediately but the other was sustained with some bruises and few wounds. he had to be rushed to the police station to write a statement. perhaps, he was having an internal injury or something. no one knew. after writing the statement, right there in the station he just lamented of some internal pain in his chest and he slumped and died!

The honorable minister of State for labour who passed on two months ago with his family - wife and a son. his wife at least could have been saved but for our medics insensitivity or something. I don't know what to say. she was found alive and no check was conducted when rushed to the hospital, they only treated what they saw and while the treatment was on she died after 13hrs.
We not only need emergency too. we need people with character. Someone is dying and is being pleaded for, for the hospital's ambulance to be taken to the hospital that they were referred to and the doctors disagree saying he must first fuel the ambulance before use and besides, it's not a private hospital but a federal one.
Doctors bargaining of treatment prices before treatment when a patient is at the point of giving up! are we for money or to save lives. why should money be a requisite before offering treatment to patients? we don't only need medics with character but people with working senses. They should always try to check for internal bruises, cuts or disorders that could be lenti somewhat. God help Nigeria oo

Laughs. Oga Donzeez. that's true but the problem with being concise is the ambiguity and pun involved. everyone of us here is not the same and conciseness may just do a little at length, understanding what you're driving at. when being concise is necessary, it must be applied.
So it may also do more good to oneself and his readers to be sensitive to where it's needed, right now at this place considering what I'm contributing to, it's not! Long messages should not be a problem to you now Sir because you're or will be doing a lot of it. but onwards, I'm going to try to be concise enough and not make my messages vague at the same time. I want to hope are we good now Sir.!

Bro but in Nigeria do we still do anything according to purpose? A few of my coursemates back in Uni currently work in banks etc and these guys were really good in Mcb with the dreams doing great things. I feel the dream is gradually dying, minus even med now, this country is bad for dreams... its where dreams come to die. It's really sad, well I won't be deterred, still chasing my purpose and dreams with hopes that it does turn to dust along the way. What do I know tho I am still at the starting phase.

Hmmmm... that's the qualms we're really faced with down this location of the earth. but it doesn't stop us, it shouldn't stop us or should it? No! not if we're determined. it settles what we settle for as only left or fated choice!
This whole boils to how we let circumstances affect us or access us and the decisions we make from thereafter!
I have determined myself not to be stopped or given reason to, by this place called Nigeria!!

I was speaking with a doc recently that I have the passion to study medicine, and he was like I should go find another job that he sef planning to port. Abeg is it the the passion has died or med is just screwed up in naija.? Docs please

Mr. Mill. There are different ideas around it. At times it is from the frustration in Naija but even at that if life is purposed for it, the frustration won't lead to opting for a quit for people with very strong perspective of life or character and for the frail ones, it does pressure to file a quit but the question is : are you called? like are you meant for it? you see, what is not meant to be won't be. so many get into the path because of the glories and hypes they've been fed with while growing up or the drive to be among the spotlight–reigning ones! With all these and many more intentions many venture into this path and some may even quit along the way but the others enduringly continue.. . . . after so many years, now they've become it and have been established in the path. One day, they just wake up to the discovery that it's not working out; it's not what they expected; it's not this. it's not that. So many years and resources have gone oo...
You see, there's a purpose and there should be an intention for the purpose. That purpose though we have passions in very different measures cannot be realized without replicating the intention in the soul and the soul walking with it!
So many of us are for this purpose but we have the wrong intentions at mind and we'll one day be like that brother whom Sir Millex met and it'd be very devastating and despairing. we need to gather up ourselves with the right intention and run with it. I know the purpose should be or near being fulfilled as a person in what you do first, all other is secondary. if you're fulfilled or looking for it, you won't complain at some things easily when others do because your drive is deeper than those things that would affect others. only death can cut you off or stop you from staying there or running after it!
One of the ways you know it's your place is the happiness and joy you find in going after it with the fact that you're fulfilled in it! you can't imagine something else for life. prospects: the compassion and love for patients. That empathy to have a touch that quenches throbs of pain in your patients, the fulfillment of being a source of hope to them and being trusted by them!! it goes on and on..!! you know you are on the right path by these! you could also be meant for it and not have passions in line with these things listed above. your aptness to or adapting to the new drive also shows it.
I pray we don't be like that brother but even if it gets to the point, we won't throw it all to the winds and be lost! Amen.
