Patriot9:Depends on how stealthy it is, it takes a super advanced radar system to track 5th generation gadgets. Asides The U.S. and few EU nations, the rest are easy picks. Mind u, low-flying gadgets are impossible to track, no matter your level of advancement hence this owl shape. |
Please I bumped into this thread yesterday and I must confess, It's been quite an experience. I wish to apply for BSc, I'm a fresher i.e. no previous BSc. I've read the early pages but still very much aloof, my unanswered questions are. 1. What is the rough estimate for the process, I.e block acc and others 2. What're the requirements needed. 3. The step by step summary of the moves I'm expected to make. God bless. |
Suspect33:Thanks |

HeyCorleone:Sir/Ma The second link is an opinion piece. I hope you wouldn't mind explaining the content of the first link as captured here.
|
HeyCorleone:Sir/Ma I'll want to make it clear that I'm doing this for knowledge sake, I don't want a keyboard fight. Note; I just saw your comment and felt like helping out. Nigerians must learn that when one is in an unfamiliar field, you give your opinion and allow those in the field to give their critical objective judgment. There's nothing out of place in the picture. Special protection procedures are same in virtually every nation, technology makes the only difference. And to your argument; The U.S. Secret Service doesn't protect the POTUS alone. Their job is to keep the nation's leadership and the succession plan safe - that's aside their anti-counterfeiting job. They protect the First and second families. Presidents and their spouse have lifelong protection while ex-presidents kids enjoy protection until they're 18 (if they left the Whitehouse as underaged. The arrangement is partially the same for he second families. Succession plan; They're charged with protecting the continuity of gov. plan. So, those in Senate leadership and the Speaker and his deputy. Cabinet sec (Ministers) and head of relevant agencies e.g S.Service Directors. Finally, Presidential designates; POTUS can direct them to give special protection to anyone he deems necessary. I hope I helped. As for the picture, for the second time, THERE'S NOTHING WRONG OR UNPROFESSIONAL IN THE SITUATION. |

SPDs do worse in the"civilized" nations and before you say "pim", those agents earn more than 90% of our public servants annual wages in 2months.

Vlvz :oNow, this thread in its entirety is exactly why we need to spend more on real education. Biko, those guys aren't officers. They're wearing a military greenwood camouflage, not army uniform. The word "soldier" is contextual; it passes as a term for other-ratings in the ground force ("Army" in some contexts). Equivalent to sailor and airman in the Air force and Navy. The word "army" is equally as contextual; it's an arm of service in some parlance and in some it' refers to the whole military. |
Landmark445:The Nigerian Defence Academy is our premier military University, every nation have an equivalent. tasked with training our Military regular officers corps (hope you get that) i.e all undergraduates in NDA are officer cadets, they graduate and become 2nd Lts, Sub Lts, Flt officers in our Army, Navy and Airforce, respectively. Civilians can only apply for post graduate studies (PGD,M.sc and PHD). Uni. Bui is an army university established in 2018. With a vision of being a tech-training hub for both the military and Nigeria at large, thus the idea of 25%military and 75% civilian arrangement. The school doesn't train regular officers corps (Only NDA does) and moreover Bui is still at infant stage. |
tactius:Sir/Ma'am The notion that the Nigerian populace bears a greater percentage of the blame is self-serving at best - We're not entirely exonerated though. "Everything boils down to leadership". Whether it's the Tiger nations saving culture or their great attitude to work. It all finds root in a purpose-made government plan. Driven by an iron-will to succeed. What's our economic blueprint? It changes with every new government. GEJ had his, Buhari brought his; that's if he's got any at all. So when consistency is off the equation our sail then has no wind to push it. The tiger nations saved 25% of their GDP for years and invested heavily in technical education, capital projects and heavy industries. They improved social services and therefore maintained low wages and tax to attract investments. Should I remind us of what happened when one Mrs. NOI adviced GEJ that we save. What is an average school-leaver armed with - subsidised education gotten at subsidised price. Our business environment is toxic, SMES can't survive. The criminal-justice system is messed up - nations warn their citizens to steer clear. Foreign investment indices are receding by the minutes. Our polity is perpetually in the oven, take our last gen. elections as a case study. On the issue of sectional agitations. For anybody to attempt robbing those agitations of credibility - the person is part of what's wrong. I won't even give life to such phoney claims. What happens when the system is structured in a way that the only way to have access to BASIC provisions is by being in the middle-class - people die looking for white -collar jobs. Others join the military just to guarantee themselves a decent life. Then what does the uneducated kid do - your guess is as good as mine, they're but simply trying to survive. PEOPLE RESPOND POSITIVELY TO POSITIVE LEADERSHIP. |
Mere wishful thinking don't develop nations. Development is but a conscious effort driven by ideas and strong leadership. It takes the wisdom of the old and the energy of the young to break new grounds. Pre-World War II Japan was a global superpower, blown to kingdom-come by The U.S. in 1945 and capitulated thereafter. Output in 1945 was just 30% of the pre-war era. By 1953 they were done with foreign aids. 1954, average income returned to pre-war levels. By 1958 they announced a full recovery from the War. The "Ikeda plan" was unveiled in 1960; to double the nations income in just 10 years. Western Economists threw a wet blanket over the blueprint. Well, they achieved that in 7 years. They were admitted into the fold of the most developed nations (OECD) in 1964. Yes, they rose from the ashes in under 20years. So while our feudal lord and his liegemen keep debating who's Cameroonian, Jamaican or Egyptian, let it be made known that we're "that that is wrong" with Nigeria. Oh! I just remembered - "we're making progress". The most worrisome thing is that those on the bloodied corridors of power insists we're doing just fine. |

Notre-Dame is home to relics from the Passion of Christ, described as a piece of the cross, a nail and the Holy Crown of Thorns. Anne Hidalgo, mayor of Paris, tweeted that firefighters, police and others formed a human chain to rescue the crown, the tunic of St Louis and other valuable artefacts. Below is the pics of the crown of thorns Christ wore during his crucifixion. Rescued by the brave firefighters yesterday. Notre-Dame's construction started in 1163, that's like 900 years ago.

MasterRahl:Sir/Ma Education has nothing to do with this. The lager bulk of every nation's military is made up of "Non-Graduates" (rank and file). They account for more than 80%. Their job is to provide the needed manpower in the field led by the few skilled (i.e. graduates/Officers) . The higher sense of professionalism and improved technical training make all the difference between A third-world serviceman and his western mate. |
Countless times I've tried to bring myself to comment on sensitive issues such as this on NL but I always hesitate - not for lack of words. I hesitated because of the toxicity of this space. Young men and women who seek to pour out hate at every turn just to register their dissatisfaction with the system. Reason is far from us all and SELF-HATE like a veil robs us of all sense of propriety. Imagine KIDS celebrating the death of servicemen. The military might not be at their best, but are they not victims of the same faulty system just like you. The military is only paying the price of Nigeria's years of civilian misadministration. Shut them down for a week and watch this banana republic overrun from all sides. |
"Irresponsible husband"? Well, Nairaland's jury would pass their judgment right away. |
Writing on the first day of exams is always problematic. I believe JAMB will reschedule for these kids. Imagine going through such ordeal at such a young age. |
The issue with Africa is not the lack of democratic governance rather it's the absence of nationalist leadership. Democracy remains "the longest route to development". There're but a handful of nations who owe their development to democracy, it takes a strong spirited dictator-like leadership to bring tangible development. The Roman empire sapped the rest of the world to set the way for Europe. The US owes it's development to the influx of Europeans to the Newfoundland and went on to build the nation on the graves of black slaves. China is a one party nation that has since it's new dawn had just 2 leaders. Lee K.Y governed Singapore for 24 years and stood unopposed in 11 elections. P. Kagema is pushing Rwanda to the new age despite being a "strong man". Japan was built by it's callous monarchy who invaded and annexed nations for fun. Just name them. In the past century we've seen nations develop either by being of strategic importance to the western powers e.g S. Korea, or by internally-inspired movement led by "strong men" and non "democratic" but nationalist leaders e.g China, UAE, Qatar, etc. Whether it be the men-in-uniform or those clad in Civil clothes, Africa's lack of patriotic leaders will forever be it's undoing. "Democracy is not a good thing for Africa. We were all happy to see democracy come to Africa, but it destroyed the human sensibility. To have a democracy, people have to understand democracy, and how can people understand when 85% of the people in the country cannot read or write? They need a benevolent dictator like China has; someone who loves his country and acts for his country.” ---Salif Keita. |
Lovemaester:It's pathetic how people just can't appreciate what is purely a rare gift to our generation. A little research would help you a lot. CR7 has more assists than 90% of the game's playmaking maestros. Giggs, Fabregas, Luka, Iniestsa, Pirlo, Xavi, Gerrard, Lampard, Paul Scholes. The only player I can remember who's got more assists than Cr7 is unsurprisingly L. Messi, but both are in the 200+ group. |
Southeastern politics has always been known to be peaceful. From Abia to Enugu down to Anambra and Ebonyi. Who would have thought that the gubernatorial election in Imo was gonna be peaceful and void of bloodshed. Anyways, it has a lot to do with the state of things, it's the region with the lowest poverty rate, people are engaged meaningfully. People don't have time for frivolities. |

amaniro:I'm not from Imo but everyone in the Southeast knew Rochas to be a billionaire before he went into his journey of self-destruction. |
Naija9090:Sir. Boeing can compensate the whole African population without feeling a damn thing. They're the biggest exporter in the world's largest economy, had a net profit of over $10b last year. They should be made to pay the price. Just like their last scandal, The CEO should go. The director of FAA should go too for trusting Boeing so much that they got numerous regulatory waivers. Anyways, we have to appreciate China and the EU whose actions gave credence to the African voice. |
