The Eastern Obolo and Ibeno are Ijaws. They belong to the Andoni subgroup of Ijaw. The Ijaw National Affairs Commissioner is from Andoni. The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) President Worldwide, Timothy Peter Igbifa is another Andoni man. Presently Obolo Ijaw people occupy two out of the three highest Ijaw tribe leadership positions of which are the Ijaw National Congress President From Delta Ijaw. And the Ijaw Youth Council President an Obolo Ijaw man. The commissioner of Ijaw national affairs in Bayelsa is another Obolo man. This commissioner position any Ijaw from the six states of which they Balkanize Ijaw into can hold this commissioner position. The last one was from Delta Ijaw. The Andoni are from Tarakiri. Remove the Obolo Ijaw people and Akwa-Ibom becomes a landlocked state. Ijaw produces over 90 percent of all Nigeria's crude oil but was unjustly balkanized into more than six Nigeria's States of which are Nigeria's Ondo, Edo,Delta,Bayelsa,Rivers and Akwa-Ibom States when all Ijaw areas are fully together and share perfect boundaries with each other. Ijaw have 12 LGAs in Rivers state. May God bless the Ijaw Republic people. Ijaw Republic our home.

Comrade Edward Asikitams, Chairman of IYC Kalabari Se-ikpangi,[sup][/sup] today in the spirit of solidarity joined members of Council to pay last respect to a fearless and articulate freedom fighter, Comrade Mienye Cookeye Brown of blessed memory. The Opobo illustrious son, General Afati as he was fondly called was until death the National Leader, Ijaw Defence Council (IDC) Worldwide. The Chairman of IYC Kalabari Se-ikpangi on behalf of Council while sympathising with the deceased immediate and extended families, and the entire Ibani Opobo Clan further described his death as a colossal loss to Ijaw Nation-cum-Niger Delta. May the soul of the departed gallant soldier continue to rest in peace...

PRESS RELEASE BY IJAWS OF EGBEMA CLAN: REJOINDER. 1. The attention of the Toru-Ibe Ijaws of Edo state has been drawn to the Rejoinder of the Benin Traditional Council Christened Press Release by the Ijaws of Egbema clan: REJOINDER: In the said rejoinder the Benin Chiefs affirm that the Ijaws as a people have no God given lands in Edo State, particularly Benin area". They continued: "In conjunction with representatives of Ugbo and Itsekiri people we have proved in previous Press statement that the Ijaws in Warri, Benin and Ugbo land are migrants and settlers." 2. To say the least, nothing can be farther from the truth. In fact, the reverse is the case. It is the Binis, the Itsekiris and the Ilajes who are laying false and baseless claims to Ijaws lands in Edo, Delta and Ondo States, and that they are the migrants and settlers in Ijaw land. The Ijaws In Edo, Delta and Ondo States are in their own God given lands from time immemorial. 3. While the Itsekiris in Warri, Delta state, the Ilajes (Mahin) in Ondo state including the Binis in Edo state, are all in Ijaw-lands. The Itsekiris descendants of Ginuwa I, the rejected and banished eldest son of Oba Olua of Benin in the 15th century, precisely 1480AD. came from Benin; the Ilajes (Mahins) from Ile-Ife while the Binis migrated from Egypt, after a short stay in the Sudan and Ile-Ife, to Ijaw lands. 4. In all probability the Press statement to which these Bini Chiefs are referring is very likely to be the one they conspired with Itsekiris and Ilajes to publish in the Nigerian Tribune of March 31,1994 and repeated in the Guardian of April 10th, 1994. 5. We published a very adequate and comprehensive response to all their false-hoods in a Press statement published in the Sunday Tribune of June 26,1994, to which these Bini Chiefs have no clues till today; that in reality the reverse is the case, that the Binis, Itsekiris and the Ilajes are the migrants, squatters and settlers in Ijaw land. 6. The history of the Ijaws in Nigeria including the Toru-Ibe Ijaws of Edo State, Egbema Ijaws in Delta State and the Arogbo Ijaws in Ondo State as the aborigines of both the Niger Delta and wherever they are found in the Nigerian Coast board has never been questioned or disputed. No history or historian has been able to establish that the Ijaws of Nigeria migrated from any where to the coast which they have been identified with. While many other ethnic groups in Nigeria have traced their origins to countries outside Nigeria, the Ijaws of the Niger Delta have no home other than their present habitat the Niger Delta which stretches from the Eastern Adonis in Akwa-Ibom state through the Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo and Ondo States. But on the other hand the Binis migrated from Egypt via the Sudan to Ile-Ife; the Itsekiris came from Benin, and so by implication, from Ile-Ife , and the Ilajes from Ile-Ife. The Ijaws are in their proper original home in the Niger Delta of Nigeria. In other words whereas, there was a time when there was none of these people- Binis, Itsekiris and Ilajes (Mahins)- in the riverine places that they are now falsely claiming to be their own, the Ijaws, the most ancient people in Nigeria, have always been in these riverine areas, their natured habitat. 7. WITNESS OF HISTORY TO IJAW AUTOCHTHONISM IN NIGERIA History books are replete with the fact that the Ijaws are the most ancient and indigenous inhabitants of wherever they are found in the riverine areas in Benin, Warri and Ugbo. In fact, it is the verdict of history that the Ijaws are the most ancient people in the whole of Nigeria, and are among the most ancient in West Africa. We shall quote a few historians who testify to this fact. Professor J.S, Coleman in his book titled Nigeria: Background to Nationalism (Los Angeles, 1963, p. 28) describes the Ijaws as "perhaps the most ancient in West Africa whose Language has little or no affinity with any other in Nigeria ". In similar vein Professors Stride and Ifeka submit: "Some of the oldest inhabitants of the Atlantic Coast are the Jola, Pepeh and Sorer of the Senegambia, and Sherbro and Bulom of Sierra Leone. Along the Guinea Coast, the Lagoon folk of Ivory Coast, the Guan of Southern Ghana and the Ijaws of the Niger Delta (underlining ours) must be included among the most ancient of the coastal dwellers." (.G.T Stride and C. Ifeka, peoples and empires of West Africa 1000-1800, 1971, P.S). 8. Dr. P.A Talbot, once acting Resident of Benin Division (1920), calls the Ijaws "this strange people- a survival from the dim past beyond the dawn of history- whose language and customs are distinct from those of their neighbors and without trace of any tradition of time before they were driven-southwards into these regions of sombre mangroves." (Tribes of the Niger Delta, 1932, p.5). In another context, Dr. Talbot submits firmly; "their (Ijaws) origin is wrapped in mystery. The people inhabit practically the whole Coast, some 250 miles in length, stretching between the Ibibio and Yoruba. The Niger Delta therefore, is…occupied by this strange people." (Ibid) 9. Professor Wilfrid D. Hambly testifies: " Beliefs held by the Ijaws are of particular interest because these people are probably the oldest inhabitants of Nigeria."(Serpent Worship in Africa, (Chicago, U.S.A. 1931, p.16). In another context, Professor Wilfrid Hambly declares firmly: "Pythons are held sacred throughout the region of Marsh lands and waters inhabited by the most ancient tribe of all, the Ijaws." "(underlining ours Ibid). 10. These and more are objective and honest historians and writers who have no ulterior motive for their work. They are unanimous in their submission that the Ijaws are the indigenous and most ancient people of the Delta and the riverine, coastal areas of Nigeria. The Binis , Itsekiris and Ilajes who say the Ijaws are strangers, settlers , tenants or squatters in the Nigeria coast line are betraying themselves as liars, deceivers, and people engaged in dirty, expansionist politicking and who are bound to fail. 11. ITSEKIRI - ORIGIN As a matter of fact, a historian, William Moore, an Itsekiri himself actually called the Itsekiris and the Ilajes (Mahins) squatters in Ijaw-land. He writes: "Prior to the advent of the Bini Ginuwa (i.e 1480), the territory now known as the Kingdom of Itsekiri or Iwere, was inhabited by three tribes, namely, the Ijaws, Sobos (Urhobo) and Mahins (Ilajes)… (The Sobos) occupied the hinterland, while the Ijaws occupied the coastline, and the Mahins (llajes) squatted on the sea-shore near the Benin River… the Mahins (Ilajes) hailed from Akoko and Ikale in the province of Ondo, Nigeria." (History of Itsekiri, 1970), P. B. 12. In another context, William Moore submits: "Prince Ginuwa first landed at Amatu (an Ijaw town) where he squatted for about three decades, he moved to Oruselomo where he married an Ijaw woman named Derumo… a dispute arose between him and the Ijaws of Gulani on account of the woman Derumo who was killed by him… he fled to Ijala where he later died…" (Ibid. pp. 18 - 20). 13. According to Chief Dr. Egharevba, "Oba Olua knew that his eldest son Iginua was hated by the Binis for the bad advice he had given against the people. He decided to send him away… The Oba did not wish the scheme to be known to his chiefs in order that they might send their sons to accompany him as his subjects so he cunningly asked them to send their sons with Iginua (Ginuwa) to sacrifice for him by the sea… Olua made a big box and filled it with the necessary royal attire… and to conceal the secret put the sacrificial victims on the top. He had made arrangements in advance for Ijaw men to take Igniua and his retinue in their canoes to their destination… Being very proud and fond of wearing fine clothes he was nicknamed "Iginua the proud". He was also very cunning and cruel. " (A Short History of Benin, 1968, P. 21). 14. Ginuwa's (Iginua) retinue was made up of seventy (70) all male including Ginuwa and all first sons of Bini Chiefs. There was no single woman among them. The Ijaws took them in their canoes to Amalu. After waiting for a long time and seeing that their sons did not return, the Bini chiefs realised that they had been deceived by their Oba. So they sent warriors to Ugharagin (now Oghareki) to fetch their sons home. But they had been ferried across the river by the Ijaws who refused to co-operate with the Bini chiefs, so, their mission failed. 15 Apart from accommodating these seventy men and giving them land to stay, the Ijaws gave wives to these seventy to marry and taught them all the techniques of living in the rivers including how to make river craft. 16. This is the story of the Itsekiri people who are actually the tenants, squatters and settlers in Ijawland as any reader can see for himself/herself. 17. ILAJES (MAHINS) - ORIGIN The Ilajes met the Arogbo-Ijaws in the home land of the latter people. The Ilajes escaped from Ile-Ife a few centuries ago running for their dear life because of the misunderstanding between them and their kith and kins in Ile-Ife. They arrived in Ijawland in the present Ondo State and pleaded to be sheltered. Thus the Ilajes whose countrymen, the Yoruba are hinterland based people found themselves settled along the Atlantic sea-coast separated from the hinterland by the Arogbo-Ijaw clan who inhabit the fresh water swamps of the Delta adjoining the mainland. This historical event explains why the oldest Ilaje-towns can only be found along the Atlantic coast line and not more than a few decades old. The Arogbo-Ijaws taught the Ilajes the art of swimming, fishing, house building and canoe-paddling the only mode of transportation in the area. 18. This story was corroborated by the testimony of the then Olugbo-Elect, Crown Prince Adebanjo Akingbade Mafimisebi. He is now the substantive Olugbo of Ugbo. Testifying before the Justice Ajakaiye Chieftaincy Commission of Inquiry sitting at Akure, he deposed as follows: "The Ugbo-Kingdom in the Ilaje-Ese Odo Local Government of Ondo State existed before Oduduwa came to Ile-Ife. Ugbo (Ilaje) Kingdom is one of the ancient Kingdoms in Yorubaland as a whole, and the people (Ilajes) were originally (underlining ours) in Ile-Ife before Oduduwa (father of the Yorubas) came and raided them. They first settled at Oke Mafunranyan (High Hill) which was later known as Oke-Igbo, and later migrated to the Arogbo-Ijaw riverine area of Ondo State." (See Sunday Sketch, June 19, 1988. 19. This history of Ilaje settlement in their present habitat is further corroborated in a short history of the Ilajes by an expatriate, Patriarch J. G. Campbell who stated that the Ilajes left Ile-Ife to Ese-Odo area where they were assisted by the Ijos (Ijaws) to settle in their new environment. 20. The said press statement by the conspirator Chiefs was released on the eve of the so called Constitutional Conference organised by the Abacha Administration. Its intention was to mislead, misinform and deceive the public, the Abacha Government and the delegates to the conference to deny us our request for a separate Local Government - Toru-Ibe Local Government Area. 21. The present Rejoinder by these writers has the same intention: to misinform, mislead and deceive the public and the Federal and State Governments in the on-going Boundary delimitation exercise embarked upon by the National Boundary Commission. The third purpose of these conspirators is to show the Ijaws in a bad light, all in their attempt to corner our God-given oil rich lands. 22. They insulted the whole Ijaw race by describing it as " a nomadic and highly sedentary race that migrate to other places to live, "using their canoes in the water ways and settling on shore to engage in their fishing business." These are very inflamming words , and these chiefs owe an unreserved apology to the Ijaw ethnic nationality. 23. The Ijaws are neither nomads, migrants nor settlers, as we shall prove very presently. But we are proud that we have our own river-craft, canoes, with which we ply our criss-cross rivers, rivulets and seas all over the coast of Nigeria and convey our goods and goods of others; we are not beast of burden like these chiefs who heave their loads on their heads and shoulders, walking miles and miles some times on bare foot. 24. Secondly, these Bini Chiefs are either very ignorant people or they are just being mischievous, out to deceive, misinform and mislead the public and governments. Their own son, late Chief (Dr.) Jacob Uwagboe Egharevba wrote that they are actually, the migrants, that they migrated from Egypt to the Sudan, and then migrated from the Sudan to Ile-Ife and then again migrated from Ile-Ife to the present place, and that "Tradition says that they (the Binis) met some people who were in the land before their arrival "(A Short History Benin, Ibadan University Press, 1968, P.1). 25. And the people, they met in the land were the Ijaws who ferried them across the Ovia river with their river-craft (Ibid. pp. 6&9) which the Bini Chiefs tried to ridicule. This duty of ferrying Binis and other people across Ovia River the Ijaws continued to perform creditably over the years until a few decades ago when bridges were constructed across the River Ovia. When vehicles appeared in Nigeria the Ijaws wisely joined two or three big canoes together to continue to do their job of ferrying men and goods across the river Ovia. The last Ijaw ferryman was chief Beyo of Ikoro, an Ijaw community in Ovia North-East Local Government Area. 26 In his book titled. The Origin and Titles of Yoruba Rulers (n.d. p.3) E. A. Kenya writes about the new comers (the Binis) "Up till that time the Oba of (Benin) and his people were pure Yoruba and did not understand the language of the aborigines who usually saluted themselves and the people thus: 'A doo', dolo o; and whenever the Oba's people saw these aborigines they used to call them "Ados". 27 S. K. Owonaro corroborates Kenyo's statement. He writes: "To the proposal Prince Godo readily consented. He therefore left Ife with the old woman and the regalia of authority… He migrated southwards till he got to the present site of Benin City where he met with some people known as Ifa, or Edos." (The History of Ijo and Her Neighbouring Tribes in Nigeria, 1949, p. 94). 28 And according to P. C. Lloyd, "… Yoruba was the Court language in Benin both before and at the time of Ginuwa's departure (in 1480), hence its use at Ode Itsekiri". (The Benin Kingdom and the Edo speaking Peoples of Southern Nigeria by R.E. Bradbury with a section on the Itsekiri by P. C. Llyod. 1957, p. 179). 29 Ado o., dolo o are the greetings of the Ijaws till today, an incontrovertible evidence that the aborigines Kenyo wrote about are the Ijaws. The aliens (the Binis) ridiculed and nicknamed the Ijaws Ados which in the corrupt form Edo/Ado became the name of the Edo people, their language, and the city of Benin. The Ijaws are the aborigines of Benin and the entire land. 30 Thus there are two elements in Benin today. The Oba and his dynasty commencing with Prince Oranmiyan from Ile-Ife in 1170 AD represent the alien, Yoruba element while the Ogiamwen, the Uzama, (an Ijaw word meaning "Ijaw people or Ijaw town"wink and the Iyase represent the Ijaw aborigines (A. Ryder, Benin and the Europeans 1485 - 1897), 1969, pp. 3 - 8. Cf Egharevba, Op. Cit, pp. 9f) 31 This was why there was a near perfect harmony between the Binis and the Ijaws all over the Country until the reign of the present Oba of Benin who has put the spanner between people who had been living together in peace for centuries. His ambition is to be both Oba of Benin and the Oba of Toru-Ibe Ijaws. We consider this as an inordinate ambition, impossible to realise. 32 It is important to state at this juncture one very important historical fact. And this is to the effect that numberless centuries before the slave trade, during the slave trade and long after the inhuman human traffic no interior tribe including the Binis dared to found any village near a river, particularly the five so-called slave rivers, namely Rio Primeriro (First River), Rio Fermoso (the Beautiful River, now the Benin River), Riodos Escravos (the slave River), the Rio dos Forcados (the Swallowtail River) and the Rio dos Ramos (Creek River). |

THE QUEST FOR IJAW REFERENDUM FOR SELF DETERMINATION REFERENDUM is an official global process in the practice of demoncracy for which a Group of People, most specifically, an Indigenous Society coordinate themselves properly by preparing A Bill of Independence with unanimously endorsed Contents of Information, and with Abundance of Signatures, representing Majority Consent of the Totality of the Indigenous People, and Send it to the United Nations in seeking Freedom from Any Affiliated Federation thereby making it to be Mandatory for the World Body to Pay Priority Attention to their Signed Appeal for possible evaluation and consideration, and subsequently for approval which results to delegating its Agency to work towards the Demands of the People for Self Determination through an Internationally Monitored Voting Exercise which can be conducted Only on the Population of the Indigenous Society. Referendum therefore is a collective process of expressing the wishes of a People in Free and Fair Voting Exercise for which the People make efforts to define and determine a Society's Geopolitical cum Economic Margins through constitutionally recognised conventional processes which are officially prescribed by the International Law hence is supervised by the Leadership of the United Nations in strengthening Global Democracy in modern days existence. This simply means that No Any Other Group of Persons has the Right to Stop or to Intimidate a Non-Self Governing People from deciding their own fate through Referendum. No Military Leadership nor an Incumbent President can stop People of a Society from deciding their Fate through Referendum. It is a Standardised International Political Process for Self Determination without Interference from Any Other Group of People from somewhere else. The People Themselves have Absolute Rights before the International Law to be Independent from Other Affiliating Subgroups if wished to be so. SOME POTENT POINTS TO NOTE IN DELAYING THE IJAW INDEPENDENCE REFERENDUM 1. Many of the Ijaws childishly thought that our Dear Destiny is in the Hands of the Nigerian State especially those King Makers but that is the highest hierarchy in stupidity. Before the arrival of the colonialists, Ijaws were Ijaws hence Has No One Percent Political Affiliation with other Tribal Groups in the Nigerian Territories. We were just mere Neighbours hence the Original Identity and Dignity of being an Independent Ijaw Society Must Never be Compromised with Any Nonsense Political Manipulation. We were Ijaws and Must be Ijaws Very Soon by the Power and the Glory of God who created us Originally as Ijaws. Our Identity in Nigerianism is an Adulterated Identity hence must be rejected by All Reasonable Ijaws at any cost. 2. Many Ijaws do not understand the Exceptional Rights of an Indigenous Society before the International Law hence ignorantly thought that it is Nigeria that has the Audacity to retain us in Nigerian Federation which is an absolute nonsense. Nigeria has No One Percent Rights to keep Ijaws in this Unfriendly Country. We Ijaws are in Slavery because of our Ignorance about the International Processes of Securing Freedom through the United Nations General Assembly. Ijaws Must Organize themselves properly and approach the United Nations to Come and Conduct Referendum on the Ijaw Population for Self Determination. 3. Some Ijaws even minimally thought that the Ijaw Population is Too Small for Self Government. Ignorance is really a Big Blindness. Ijaw Population is even up to Three Countries. What the United Nations requires for Self Determination is the Ability of Your Economy to sustain the Target Population for survival without depending wholly on others. Secondly, whether the population of your Youths can raise Security Force capable of offering Protection to the target New Society and we have enough Youths Population to raise Army, Navy, Air force, Police and even othet Paramilitary Security Outfits hence is adequately qualified to be considered for Independence and subsequent approval by the United Nations. 4. Many Ijaws Insufficiently thought that the Nigerian Senate and the Presidency can stop the processes of the Ijaw Referendum if initiated but the Truth is that neither the Senate nor the Presidency has One Percent Right to stop the Ijaw Independent Bill. If they refused to Honour the Ijaw Independent Bill, it is even Better for us because at then, we are at advantage since the International Law permits us to Seek the Attention of the United Nations for Referendum. I therefore prayed that both the Nigerian Senate and the Presidency reject the Ijaw Independent Bill so that we speedily forward it to the United Nations for Deliberations. 5. Many Ijaws are waiting for Britain and America to intervene but that is useless. They have No Rights to Decide our Fate. The Rights to Secure Independence for the Ijaw Society is in the hands of Ijaws and not in the hands of America and Britain. When we approach the United Nations officially, then they can play certain roles to influence the processes either positively or negatively yet have No Absolute Rights to determine whether an Indigenous Society should be free or not. It is left for the Indigenous People to make relentless efforts towards their freedom from unnecessary dominance. 5. Ijaws carelessly allow Every Aspect of their collective life to be managed and controlled by Politicians which is fully unfortunate. We are quite aware that the Ijaw Politicians are the Most Dubious Set of Persons who are inclined to Betraying the Ijaw Family even with the Least Level Public Prominence Slots hence tolerating Ijaw Politicians to determine the Fate of Ijaws is just like keeping your Goats in the Custody of Lions for safe keeping and such an instance is the most Useless thing to do in life. 6. Many Ijaw Leaders thinly thought that if they get Involved in Processes of the Ijaw Bill for Independence, they will be hunted by the Nigerian Authority for Treason but that is not True. All the Countries Constitutions are Subject to the International Law hence the Nigerian Authority has No Single Right to Intimidate Anyone who is involved in courses of the Ijaw Referendum. Such instances with regard to Intimidation of the Members of the Indigenous Society especially those in Leadership fighting for the Freedom of the Indigenous Population must be stated clearly in the Context of the Bill for them to be Safe from Any Unnecessary Attack as the United Nations will make Clarification on the implications of intimidating such persons to the federation leadership. 7. Ijaws since fighting for Freedom for its Indigenous Population has never Officially Involved the United Nations but is just mere Agitation at home hence are being intimidated by the Nigerian Authority severally. Referendum is not an Issue of Treason nor an Act of Criminality hence those who are in Leadership will not be Stupid Enough to Interrupt Official International Standard for Self Determination. I therefore call on the Leadership of the Ijaw Nation Organization to be Sensitive and Serious in the course of seeking Self Determination for the Ijaw Population. No One can stop Ijaws from getting Independence. We are even the One delaying our Rights to Freedom. We Ijaws have absolute Rights to be Independent from any other group in Nigerianism. If Indigenous Societies with Smaller Population such as Tokelaun with just a population of 1,500 people Applied to the United Nations for Freedom and the United Nations responded aptly to their quest for Self Government, what Stops Ijaws from Seeking Self Determination from the United Nations. Ijaws in Leadership are still begging for Resources Control and Fair Treatment from Nigerians which is quite unfortunate. 8. Ijaws should learn a lexical lesson from the courage expressed by the Tokelaun People whose population was just only One Thousand Five Hundred People (1,500) but relentlessly approached the United Nations for a Self Government Request to be Independent from New Zealand which they were under their control since 1926 for which the United Nations General Assembly responded positively by delegating its Electoral Monitoring Mission to conduct Referendum on the Tokelaun People in response to their Request and Wish to be Free From the New Zealand Republic hence the First Referendum was conducted in 2006 and subsequent one in 2007. Ref. General Assembly: GA/COL/3164: Department of Public Information-News and Media Division- New York, 16 October, 2007. The United Nations Resolution 1541(xv) defined Three Ways in which a Non-Self Governing Territory can attain a Full Measure of Self Government from its Federating Entity as envisioned in United Nations Charter, such as: (a). Free Association which is established on the basis of Free and Voluntary Choice from the Indigenous People. (b). Integration which is established on the basis of equality between the people under the federation. (c). Independent State and Independence which refers to a group under a federation but wishes to be Independent from their present federated status. 9. Ijaws must newly know that when once Ijaws initiate and launch official Processes for Self Government on the Floor of the United Nations General Assembly, Nigerians in Leadership will tortoistically lure and lobby Ijaw Sons and Daughters with either Vice President or even with President Slot to distract the Genuine Course of the Ijaws towards Self Government. I therefore call on all Well Meaning Ijaw Intellectuals to disregard such Level of Foolishness because the Abundance of Benefits, with accompanying Aura of Freedom in Self Government can never be compared to an Empty Carcass Slot of Being An Ordinary President Position in a country that is full of Wickedness and Enmity. It is only a Full Time Fool that will throw Away a Box full of Gold and rushes towards a Box full of Ashes. Processes for Ijaw Referendum might take some time but cannot be compared to Ijaws Sorrowful Situations in Nigerianism. Please fellow Ijaws, "be wise as Serpent and be harmless as Dove"! 10. Many Ijaw Politicians and Elders because of Greed and Shortsightedness are never in support of the Ijaw Referendum. They are Childishly being Over Excited with Insignificant Small Small Smelting Political Appointments offered them by Northerners hence want us to continue in Nigerian Enslavement. That is why they are running to Abuja day and night with Lexical Lies against Ijaw Secession aspirations. They preferred Slavery to Ijaw Self Government. You will easily notice them when the processes for Ijaw Referendum is launched. Many of them will be sent by northerners to come and plead with the Ijaws with Fake Fake Promises. This time such Elders and Politicians will be Openly Disgraced and their Anti-Ijaw Freedom Antics will be Spread Everywhere including on Social media. Wicked Wicked Self Alone Politicians, we are waiting for you. God will punish them very soon! We Ijaws in our thousands of thoughts are verily void in validity. We are a Set of Self-Defeated Category in Classification due to expression of unnecessary shyness. Our thoughts are watery in weight. We tensely thought that someone from somewhere else is always superior to us. We therefore succumb childishly to our Negative Neighbours. Though were Israelites in entry but are now Egyptian in equivalence. We are the Only Set of Humanity that Dislike Indigenous Identity in admiration of someone from somewhere else. We admire Northerners that put pepper in our eyes. We cherish Westerners that mock us in Goat Grade Gravity. We appreciate Easterners that cheat us in all forms of bargains. But always snub blood based brotherhood when we have enough to eat. Our Ijaw Attitude is always Anti-Ijaws in aims and in actions. We never think of being superior to someone from somewhere else. Our thinking temperament is too teasing to be legal in learning. If Jebussites are placed in a possible platform with Ijaws, the Jebussites will be far more in margin than Ijaws in attitude. Ijaws are still upside down in memory merit. Spitefully speaking, Nigerians never have a Least Level love for Ijaws. They pretend to love Ijaws but are inclined to exploiting certain Advantages in the Carelessness of the Ijaw Man conduct. Yes, Nigerians are making huge profits from Lack of Unity among Ijaws, and that is carelessness if not a form of foolishness. Israel is surrounded by Enemy Nations but the Degree of Unity among Israelites make them to be an Indomitable Force to the Enemies. The Ijaw Man is only Thinking of How He will be Speedily Better than Fellow Ijaws but never Thinks of How He will Unite with Fellow Ijaws to be better than our enemies. I am quite aware that Sycophants and Political Page Persons will not take it lightly for this Ideal Injunction but such is just a Little Truth, perhaps a Larger Lexis of Truth about the Ijaw Situation will soon be made available. If we don't want to hear negative news about ourselves, we must be mindful of our conducts and actions. Enough is Equally Enough! Okoi Amadiowei Jacob ( An Ijaw Pikin with Pains of the Ijaw People).

YENAGOA – Professor Benjamin Okaba, the President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), said the resolutions of the recent All Ijaw Summit have provided the roadmap for the Ijaw nation to actualise self-determination. Okaba stated this when he led INC officials to present a copy of the report of the summit to the monarch of Nembe Kingdom, Edmund Daukoru, and his council of chiefs during a town hall meeting at the Nembe City Hall on Saturday. He said the move was the beginning of mobilisation of the Ijaw people for action on the decisions reached at the summit, which was convoked on December 4 in Yenagoa with the theme, ‘The Nigerian State and the Ijaw Question’. He noted that the outcomes of the summit constituted the impetus that had galvanized the INC under his leadership to give teeth to the Ijaw nation’s quest for freedom from the grip of the Nigerian State. Okaba while enlisting the monarch’s support, said, “We never just had a talk shop. The summit has provided us the roadmap and a direction. It x-rayed the evil meted out to us in this country. “The summit also took a critical look at the various strategies the Ijaw people have applied even from the days of pre-colonialisation down to modern times. “The Ijaw have resolved to go for self-determination and self-actualisation but in doing this the modus operandi will be peaceful, lawful and non-violent. We shall engage in civil disobedience by protests.” The INC chief further told the gathering that “the Ijaw people would be liberated without losing blood”, adding that all means to be adopted in the struggle have international standards and acceptability. Okaba also assured them that his leadership would partner with all INC structures at the clan and zonal levels by providing direction and suppprt for the mobilisation for action. In his response, the Nembe monarch, Edmund Daukoru represented by the alternate chairman of the council of chiefs, Bright Erewari-Igbeta, commended the INC for the successful summit and providing a strong voice for the Ijaw nation. Daukoru said the Nembe people are critical stakeholders of the INC and the development of the Ijaw nation, stressing that the message of mobilisation was clear and the needful would be done. Other members of the council of chiefs present were the general secretary, Jude Pulomote; palace secretary, Isaiah Young-Dede; his deputy, Erewari Igoniowei; B. Peresuo and leaders of INC, Nembe Clan, led by the chairman, Ebinyu Aderigha

Princewill Jumbo He raised the alarm that there was no favourable salary structure in place at the different sites in the area, stressing that entrenching a proper salary structure commensurate with the amount of work put in and in line with global best practices was in the interest of all. “The project is a welcome one. I know the Amanyanabo-in-Council means well; the Bonny Local Government Chairman means well; and the Bonny Chiefs Council means well for Bonny people. But from what I have seen so far and the interaction I have had with workers there is no salary structure for the workers and the earlier that is put in place the better for all of us.” The Chairman Emeritus, Ibani (Bonny) Clan, appealed to the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, King Dr Edward Asimini William Dappa Pepple III, CON, JP, Perekule XI, and Chairman of Bonny LGA, Dame Anengi Barasua, the Leader of the Bonny Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon. Larry Ibaningo, among others to set up a joint consultative committee to wade into the matter. “I am appealing to the e one. I know the Amanyanabo-in-Council, the Bonny Local Government Chairman, and the Bonny Chiefs Council that they should look into this salary matter.” “It will not be good that the project is going on and every now and then we hear that the workers have downed tools because their welfare is not well packaged.” Concerns have been raised recently over the salary situation across various sites in Bonny LGA, with stakeholders calling on the authorities to intervene and ensure there was a template for all companies to work with in existing projects and the Train 7 project.
