my ds poops very hard poo, the way he grunts whenever he wants to poo is heartbreaking. sometimes he will push and push the poo will not come out, there was a time I was inserting my pinky finger in his anus with olive oil but I just have to stop, he as to be doing his business himself.

I eat all normal food, rice beans bread demo amala EBA pap etc, what could be causing this?

some people say its because he's not taking water but I'm I the only mother doing ebf? I'm fed up.

Weldone Mama. don't get fed up my dear you have tried all the above listed food but have you tried vegetables and fruits? Eat lot of watermelon and take plenty of water or liquid. I will also advise that you stop bread and amala for now.


Note: ebfing means no water or anything but strictly on bm for 6mnths. Don't get tired.

Hello Mamas in the house...Pls i need your help.

I am a FTM to a 5-week old who gets very gassy when he eats..we are currently on Breastmilk and Similac cos my milk flow is low and doesnt satisfy him. Sometimes when he is eating, he would start grunting like he is in pain and scratching his head.

Also he poos just once in three days and its greenish, seedy and watery

I really dont know what to do to calm him down..pls help

I guess its colic. Its common among children below 3months. Try to bulb inbetween n after meal. Message his tommy wt worm water .NOSPARMIN works for me so u can give it a trial.
As for his poop, his might be constipating so give him lot n lot of water. I give my lo warm water first thing in the morning n more in the day. Also I go one scope less as suppose the prescribed scope.
Green poop might be as a result of lack of hind milk so for him to get enough hind milk u have to bf him long enough on one breast b4 moving to the next one.
As for seedy poop I don't think a formula fed baby can escape dat as it's normal bt dat of watery poop might be darriah as a result of dehydration so keep baby hydrated always u will also need to take fluid as much as possible so that baby can benefit from bm.

I would say rather than just using calender method why not use the billings method instead, it combines calender with monitoring your body and your vaginal discharge to know when you are most fertile and best to avoid "rough play" at that time or use condoms at that time.

Basically you start counting from the first day of your period as day 1, and continue till the start of your next period.. that should give you an idea of how long your cycle is. It can range anything between 21 to 35 days on the average. Some may be even shorter or longer, everyone is different.

Take note of how many bleed days you have.
After your period is finished, take note of the colour, texture and smell of your vaginal discharges during the entire month.

You may have a dry period where there is no noticeable discharge per se.

Somewhere along the way your discharge will become stringy, transparent or whitish like raw egg white. This is your fertile window anf usually occurs mid-cycle but not always. This occurs for about a few days to a week- basically your vaginal discharge changes consistency which aids sperm movement and longer survival. This is the period you ovulate, as the egg only survives for a day or 2. You should avoid se.x at this time to àvoid pregnancy as your chances are very high.

A couple of days after your ovulation, the discharge changes again to a more opaque white with a texture more like pap. Once this happens, it is an indication that you are now entering your "safe" period and your chances of pregnancy are low.

Usually 14 days after your ovulation, if you are not pregnant, you would have your period.

If you are using a only standard calender the assumption is your ovulation is smack bang in the middle of your cycle. So for a 28 day cycle that is on day 14.

But if you have a long cycle say 35 days, you may ovulate at day 20 or 21 as opposed to day 14.
If you have a short cycle you of say 21 days.... your ovulation may be on day 7 instead.

So you see how normal calenders can feck you up!

After a few months you willl notice a pattern and even if you dont consult your calender you can tell from your discharges when there are noticeable changes and if your cycle decides to play you a fast one.

Note: if you have a very short cycle, the end of your period may overlap with your ovulation so monitoring virginal discharges may be a bit trickier. So you may want to take extra precautions.

Also keep a note of your urges.... you may notice you are more arroused during your fertile window... yeah yeah nature sure is a bit.ch and has a way of maximising the chances of reproduction..

Also remember that no method of contraceptive is 100%.

1. ..so according to the scan I did last week my baby already weighs 3.48kg..the sonographer was virtually begging me to stop eating esp sinz I stl had 2 to 3weeks left so d baby wouldn't get to 4kg...I didn't get d gist den till nw readin all d BS from Ftm like myself havin babies weighing less with episiotomy. ..now I am officially scared ..if I start starving myself nw would it help reduce baby's weight

Don't be scared dearie, scan can lie too. I was told same d morning b4 I had my baby bt ended up with a 2.9kg baby. No regrets bcoz I had no tear n weight doubled at 2mnths on our way to becoming chubby. Just ask God to take your delivery.

@HumbledbYGrace, Hahaha baby Faithful is a character. He doesn't like my niece carrying him especially in that way. Started crying few seconds after I took the pic.

@suger, ur baby is a cutie. I will like to share dis with you maybe it might be of help in a way. Ur baby's birth weight is same as dat of mine. The point is dat babies weight drops during the first few days after birth n if such drops lyk 5point den baby will weigh 2.4kg which is underweight n dangerous. So feed, feed n feed baby now in fact buy breast pump n feed him more at night. I was der n it was touching. Don't wish any one same.

@momypurity2, hard pop (constipation ) is caused by Nan1. Buying a carton of formula dat u r nt yet certain if baby will react well to it or not is totally wrong. Pls go one spoon less as adviced + water + BM. You can as well try SMA Gold or discontinue Nan1. Babies well being shud be our priority nt money left for me, I will close my eyes n do away with d remains bcoz I can't stand my baby finding it difficult to poop (hrt breaking ).
