Doctor prescribed 5ml so why reduce it?

For the doctor to have prescribed both ear drops and antibiotics for a baby that young , it means on checking your baby's ears there was a lot of pus/discharge.

Please stick to your doctor's prescription of 5ml. Also ensure you complete the total number of days you've been asked to administer the antibiotics. It's important to effectively administer the antibiotics as this will ensure the infection is totally gotten rid off and also prevent further future complications. Eg. Partial deafness.

please do not use cotton bud ever again. that thing does more harm than good.

ear infection just like common cold are some of the things some babies face in their first one year. most times the discharge stops on it own without the use of antibiotics. keep an eye on it for a day or two. if you still notice the discharge, then see your doctor.

no, i do not think co-sleeping has anything to do with ear infection. make sure while bathing him that you do not allow water or soap get into his ears.

Sounds like an infection.

DO NOT I repeat DO NOT clean his ears with cotton bud or anything as you can easily puncture his ear drums which can result in deafness. Take him to the hospital and ask the doctor to examine his ears. He might need antibiotics.

Do not allow any nurse or doctor to clean his ears.

Advise needed from y'all. My baby boy is just 3 weeks old today. A week ago,we noticed this rash growing on his neck,not heavy though but still noticeable, and we started applying MARHABA PRICKLY HEAT POWDER, and it seemed to subside,but reading the instructions on the powder pack, I saw that the powder is not to be used for children under 3yrs of age, we had to discontinue for fear or causing damage to the boy's skin. Now the rash on the neck has cleared but has spread to his face and spreading gradually. The baby does not sweat as our living apartment is big,airy and quite cool, so I might want to rule out rash due to heat. I iron his clothing even after they dry from washing, and his bed spread is changed every days. We use Cussons range of baby products. We use SUDOCREM for his bum bum(no rash on here though, but don't know if it can be applied on his face too.
What could be the cause of the rash on his body then, now on his face, and what can we do to clear it? Expert advice needed please.

inikamoze welcum to d forum..mamas don thrash d issue..wil also advice u stop usin d cussons nd any oda soap or cream..babies skins are d most perfect nd for d first few wks outside d womb,its beta to play safe by goin natural nd afta a month u can start applyin ur desired cream or soap,all d best nd regrds to d family.

Kpele, for that vomiting, have you tried feeding in shorter bursts, e.g when eating 60 ml, stop at 30ml, burp, at 50ml burp, finish the food burp again.or while breastfeeding, Stop every 5mins & burp. Its tasking but it may help. Also try feeding him upright (hold him in a sitting position as against lying flat on your arms ), that's what my sister who experienced d same thing did. HTH

Alright, let him take sma for at least a week b4 you look for improvement.
My last baby does a lot of spitups (vomit is light & milky, spitups are more like yoghurt& curds). Sometimes more than half of what she just ate. Yet, she was twice her birth weight as at 14wks immunization. I'm just saying, be patient, babies don't become orobos in a week! ( I should know)

I had to come out of ghost mode to ask: What exactly are you looking for in a formular? You cannot tell if a particular brand has achieved the desired result in less than 3 days. Discuss with your hubby then come to table your requirements, Mamas should be able to suggest a formula that meets his needs,

i don't think it's a good idea to be changing the milk/formula upandan. Except the baby is fussy and you're trying to find the one he/she likes or for cost reasons. Their digestive system is still tender no point experimenting with it if you get me

I'm so worried, for the past few weeks I have noticed my milk flow hs drastically reduced unlike the first few weeks I gave birth and ws expressing for my babies. I feel so inadequate and blame myslf for introducing formula (mayb it's d reason for the drop in flow ).

Pls, pls mamas, what drug/food or wateva can I do or take to increase milk supply/flow

@6wks, I ll say breastfeed at night instead of formulae feeding. Abt the stomach and stooling/farting no need to worry. Doesn't sound like there s a problem at all

This was my way when I did combination feeding with Atinuke. We started at 40 days.
-Breastfeed all thru the night.
- cos I am weak when I wake up, formula feeding to gain my strength.
- water in between formula feeding. She drinks like 120ml of water everyday. The formula feeding was like 4-5 hours apart; sleep, water and breastmilk filled the gap.
- formula feeding just before bed. Breastmilk all thru the night.

My formula was one scoop less, one feed more.
Since recommended feeding was 6 times daily, I slashed that by 2 cos we were combining.
So cos I went one scoop less, I upped it to 4 feedings rather than 3.

As much as I am a big fan of combination feeding, personally I do not give formula at night and that's because I'm too tired/sleepy to get up and start preparing his milk. So I just breastfeed till he sleeps. I "co-sleep" so it makes its a lot easier for me. The only exception is if my hubby or a relative is willing to do the bottle drama.

However, if you do not mind waking up to sort his bottles, there's nothing wrong in giving him formula at night. Make sure it's the right quantity that will fill him up.

Feed on demand. If he wakes and he's crying, check to be sure it's not his diaper as crying doesn't necessarily mean hunger. Sometimes all a baby needs is a cuddle or just a change of sleep position.

There's nothing wrong with one poo a day. What matters the most is that he's not constipated. Always check the consistency of his poo and the colour as they are always telltale signs.

I think the rumbling shouldn't be a cause for concern. At this stage, his digestive system is gradually expanding. Just make sure you give him warm water often as it helps with bowel movements since he's being formula fed.

Regarding farting - make sure you burp him after each feed and also bottle feed him correctly. Check online on how to properly bottle feed a baby (that is holding the bottle, et al) to ensure he's not sucking air.

Good evening mamas in the house, officially registering myself. May mama that ported to April. Baby boy is now 3months. Abeg mamas is anything called over weight in babies cause my lo now weighs 8.2kg at 3months. He is on formula and breast milk.
