If his poo is too thick, then you need to change the constituency of the formula. I always go a scoop less than the recommended quantity. You also need to give him plain water to drink as this will prevent constipation.

@ginababy, if u r sure ur supply is sufficient now you can stop d formula. Note that you will hv to feed more often or follow his cue, formula is more filling than bm

I've resume formula. Baby was becoming 2 light.

i am asking these two questions because if the reason why you introduced formula was due to poor health (for example), are you much better now? does your milk flow well?

yes, its possible to stop formula and stick to EBF and vice versa.

you know when your baby is full when:
1)you remove your nipple/bottle and he does'nt cry
2)he sleeps off after sucking
3)he removes his mouth from your nipple/bottle
4)he doesnt suck even if the bottle/nipple is in his mouth
5)he gets distracted by light, sound, etc
6)he is all smiles, playful and engaging after a meal

Formula was introduced due to lack of bm during d first 5days. + baby turned to drop weight. During our last weight check he drastically bounced back. I just don't like doing effect of formula on him(strong poop).

Sabi mamas pls help me touch light dis mata. My ds has been on formula n breast milk for d past 3wks n 2days but I want to stop d formula n ebf him. Is it still possible n will dat still be ebf? N hw will I know wen baby is well fed because he doesn't seem 2 stop unless he falls asleep. He doesn't luk weighty again since yesterday dat we stopped formula. Confused at do moment.

My ds is one week old and before we left the hospital, two doctors came to check him for traces of jaundice and they said he doesn't have it. But before we left, i noticed his eyes are a bit yellow. I insisted that he should be checked but everyone around said if he has jaundice it'll show in his skin.
My mum got some herbs to use to wash his skin yesterday. She said it will clear the jaundice if he truly has it. She wanted to give him to drink but i and dh refused.
This morning i noticed if i touch his skin and remove my hand, it'll be yellow. Should i take him to the hospital for test and treatment? Mum doesn't want me to. Said the herbs is better.
This is my first child and i don't want to make mistakes. I just feel so bad that he's not okay

I had same experience with my ds Aftab birth. I gave him glucose to drink n morning sun for 5days cleared everything.

@ginababy, mama ekene has said it all. Its usually written on the container, its only when ur LO can't finish the recommended quality that you can reduce.

as for your not lactating, I wasnt lactating too until I started using fenugreek and within 3 days, I was practically begging my lo to suck cis she was a sleepy baby in her first week.. I woukd advise you get the seeds or the oil. .
maam ginababy, how's our cutie.. I used to wake my lo every 3hrs to feed.. she would dream feed, and sleep back..
by her 2nd week, she got used to the routine and would wake up herself every 3hours to eat..
now she has graduated to every 2hrs..and would wake every hour at night to feed..
so I would advice to wake your lo every 2hrs to eat since he doesnt eat much at a goal.. his feeds should be frequent..
I wont advice you increase the quantity of his food unless he asks for more..for now, just increase the frequency.
set your alarm for his night feeds too...vigilante is real o! dint get carried away....kikikiki

There's a specific number of feeds an infant should have daily...

U r lucky dat urs can even wake n feed. Mine will neva wake ooo until he is hungry n want to eat. But I'll try dream feeding him.

30 ml is one scoop of milk nah! And you wanna leave him to sleep past 3hrs without a feed? Mama u need koboko! Abeg increase or feed more frequently, set alarm if you must its called vigilante for times like this.
Even with breast milk my son finished 90 ml at 2weeks old and I fed him every 3hrs with bm in between, he takes his last bottle of formula at 8pm any feeding from then till morning 8am is bm.

A 2week old should consume a minimum of 75ml per feed to get the RDA of vitamins and minerals contained in the formula and should have about 450ml of milk in 24hrs.(its not a must ) babies can consume less or more just follow their cue.

Additional* you will know if he's getting enough if at one month old he has gained 1kg on top his birth weight( though some babies will lose some before they start adding.) My 1cent

Ginababy wake your baby to eat though its tempting to let them sleep through, but their stomach is still very small and cant contain food enough to go beyond 3 hrs! Dream feeding is very much allowed so that baby can be adequately nourished. When older you can allow him sleep.

I've bn blessed wt a sleeping baby. Who wakes just once at night to feed bt ryt nw my hrt is troubled.

Was feed around 8:15pm n was put to bed, up until nw he is still sleeping. Am I suppose to wake him up or he will wen he is hungry.

Pls sabi mamas shud tell be if it's wrong nt waking him up to feed all dis while.

BIRTH ALART + BIRTH STORY + THREADCUTIES.

My prince charming landed on Monday 13th June @10:07pm weighing 2.9 (scan sabi lie sha).

It all started on Sunday night wt frequent urination n @10:30pm I felt a very sharp waist pain bt disappeared. I slept wtout feeling any pain all tru d night bt woke up in d mrng wt menstrual lyk cramp or pains. Dat Monday happened 2 b my ANC so dh n I were in attendance 2geda. Went 2 c my doc. N he looked at me n said I was in labour den I open up 2 tell him d signals I was getting.

He asked a female doc 2 go check me (VE) n den handle my delivery if need arises. We zoomed into d delivery room. I was checked n cervix was still close bt was asked to go home n come bak around 3:30pm.

Around 3pm I lost my mucus plug. Proceeded 2 d hospital by 5:45pm. Got checked n was 2cm dilated. She broke my water. Contractions were so strong n was lyk 5mnts apart yet I was 4cm dilated as at 8:40pm. The Dr inserted her hands into my jajaiana n within 10mints she dilated my cervix upto 8cm. I was given drip n she asked d nurses to giv me half dose of pitosine n get set 4 delivery. Dat was hw my son stared crawling out n landed wtout a tear.

TO GOD BE D GLORY. It ended in praise. It was a peaceful journey all d way.
