The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFCVB) has confiscated no fewer than 6,000 P0*nographic movies at major markets in Jos North and South Local Government Areas of Plateau state.

The Zonal Coordinator of the board in the North Central, Mr. Paul Ailewon, told newsmen on Thursday in Jos that the exercise would be a continuous one.

Ailewon said that the exercise was part of the mandate given to the board under his leadership to ensure that only videos approved by the board were released to the public.

“The film board is expected to approve only those videos that will teach moral values, especially, among children.

“We have seized more than 6,000 P0*nographic movies at Terminus Market in Jos North and Bukuru Market in Jos South Local Government Areas, this year.

“This is to ensure that the public is fed with only videos approved by the board as it has guidelines that should be strictly adhered to by film producers and marketers.

“We are in partnership with traditional and religious leaders, because they command high respect in the society to achieve this task.

“We see them as partners that will be able to inculcate in their followers, the ills of exposing their children to movies and videos that have strong language, violence and obscene scenes, “ he said.

Former Chelsea midfielder, Oscar, has been banned for eight games by the Chinese Football Association (CFA), for inciting a brawl in Shanghai SIPG’s 1-1 draw on Sunday.

The Brazilian kicked the ball violently and purposefully against two Guangzhou R&F players, resulting in a fight on the pitch between the two teams.

Oscar will now not be eligible to play in the Chinese Super League until August 13 and will pay a $5,000 fine.

“Oscar’s immoral foul, which sparked a massive bust-up on the pitch, has had a huge negative impact on China’s professional football leagues,” read a statement of CFA.

“The CFA alway attaches great importance to the issue of discipline, taking great pains to root out the violent fouls and other unsportsmanlike behaviour.

“Hopefully disciplinary offences would be severely punished by all clubs and efforts shall be made to maintain the order of the games and protect the development of football.”

In Lagos, A 30-year-old native doctor by name Lucky Okon, who allegedly raped a woman for days and defrauded her of N800,000, on Thursday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

The accused was arraigned before Magistrate J.A. Adigun on a two-count charge.

Okon, who resides on Ajasa Command Road, Ipaja, Lagos, however, pleaded not guilty, and was admitted to bail of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

According to the prosecutor, Sgt. Godwin Awazie, the accused committed the offences on March 14 on Abesan Housing Estate, Ipaja.

Awazie said Okon raped his 25-year-old victim and defrauded her of N800,000.

“The accused accosted the complainant on her way from work.

“He hypnotised her with a substance suspected to be charm, and asked her to give him her N800,000, which she did,” he said

Awazie said the accused also took the complainant home and raped her for days.

“It was when the complainant regained her senses that she reported the case to the police, and the accused was arrested,” he said

Awazie said the offences contravened sections 260 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised).

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the accused may be jailed for life if found guilty of rape, according to the provisions of Section 260.

The case has been adjourned till June 29 for mention. (NAN)

In Bayelsa: A dismissed soldier by name, John Andrew, has been arrested by the police for allegedly being part of a syndicate responsible for snatching vehicles with master keys in Bayelsa and other states across the country.

Information has it that Andrew confessed to the crime and narrated how he got involved in car-stealing operations. He was apprehended at the weekend in Akenfa in Yenagoa during a stop-and-search operation.

The suspect, who hails from Cross River State, was said to have allegedly stolen many vehicles using master keys produced for him in Ghana. it was gathered, was a leader of a five-man gang, who allegedly spread their criminal tentacles to Enugu, Benue and Cross River states.

The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Asuquo Amba, who paraded the suspect, described him as a ”habitual criminal”.
He said the suspect was arrested several times in Bayelsa alone, adding that he was once arraigned in Delta by the police for similar offence.

Amba said: “Andrew is a habitual criminal. We have apprehended this suspect three times. The first time he stole some vehicles in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, we apprehended him in Bayelsa.

“The second time, he stole some vehicles in Ughelli, Delta State and brought them into Bayelsa, we were able to apprehend him.

”We were able to recover three vehicles from him and the matter was transferred to Delta State Police Command. The Delta State Police Command arraigned him before the court, however, I do not know whether he has finished serving his jail sentence or he was granted court bail because I am definitely sure he was not given police bail.

”On June 17, 2017, about 1pm, our policemen, while on routine stop-and-search operation at Akenfa area, flagged a Toyota with number-plate AG 599 YEN. The suspect zoomed off to avoid search. He was pursued and arrested by the policemen.

“The Toyota car was stolen from where it was parked at Green Villa, Biogbolo, Yenagoa. The owner has been identified. In the course of our investigation, we recovered many masterkeys.

“He claimed that each of the keys costs N50,000 and were brought in from Ghana. He said with the keys, he could open any vehicle no matter the make.”

Amba confirmed that investigations revealed that the suspect was dismissed from the Nigerian Army adding that since his dismissal, Andrew perpetually operated a gang that specialised in stealing vehicles.

He said: ”We are happy we have caught him again. I want to assure the public that we are up to all his tricks and that with his arrest, the city of Yenagoa and Bayelsa will be at peace, especially knowing quite alright that most people in the metropolis do not have garages or car parks as most vehicles are parked on the streets, that is why he took advantage of that.

”But with his arrest, I am sure our vehicles will be more secured. We are going to get some of his gang members in Makurdi and Enugu.”
Speaking to journalists, Andrew said he was dismissed from the Army for mutiny in 2014, adding that he used to sell each stolen car for N300, 000 to one Ike in Makurdi, Benue State.

Andrew Statement:
”I use master keys to remove vehicles from where they are parked. The police have apprehended me three times – I stole a Toyota Camry from Port Harcourt, Rivers State. They caught me in Yenagoa before transferring me to Port Harcourt. Another one was a Hilux, I stole that one from Warri in Delta State and two others.

”When they took me to court in Delta State, I was put in prison but the owner told the Magistrate’s Court that I should pay him the money he used to repair his vehicle and that he was not interested in any case.

”I am very sorry, it won’t happen again. I am going to sign an undertaking, any time they catch me again, they should do anything they like to me. It is the devil’s work. I got the keys from Ghana. I buy one for N50, 000. I have five gang members.

”I am a dismissed soldier. My last station was 3 Batallion, Warri, Delta State. I was accused of mutiny while on military operation in Borno State. I was brought to Delta State for court martial and I was dismissed in 2014. I am from Cross River State and I am a yam farmer.”

The Governors of the five states in the Southeast have told their citizens in the North not to panic, stressing that they are free to live anywhere in Nigeria.

The Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, who is also the Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum, called on northern leaders to take actions that would counter the intended plot of the youths to ensure that the grim history of the past was not repeated.

He said, “We must call on all serious-minded patriots, particularly the religious leadership in Northern Nigeria; the leadership of other socio-cultural groups in Northern Nigeria; the Nigerian Governors Forum; and all the service branches to rise up with voices of peace and wisdom to counteract the mischievousness and exuberant excesses of the northern youth.

“The ugly lessons of history are too grim to be stoked with carelessness. As leaders, we must exert the full measure of our powers and influence to forestall a repetition.

“We call on all Igbo sons and daughters resident in Nothern Nigeria to go about their lawful daily activities without fear of intimidation, hindrance or molestation.”

Umahi reiterated the governors’ commitment to “the existence of a virile, united prosperous and progressive Federal Republic of Nigeria where justice, fairness, equity, mutual respect and equality of opportunity to all citizens, regardless of creed, ethnicity or gender, will reign supreme under the inflexible rule of law.”

The SEGF Chairman also denied insinuations that a meeting resolved to send buses to evacuate Igbos in the North.

“The rumours being peddled on conventional and social media platforms that we, the governors of the Southeast have met and agreed to mobilise vehicles and cash for repatriation of Ndigbo resident in Northern Nigeria must be disregarded, as they are nothing but tissues of lies.

”No amount of provocation would lead us to such precipitate and irresponsible action at this time.

“Those exploiting such vacuous tittle-tattle as a basis for divisive rhetoric in public spaces are simply playing juvenile politics and we urge them to cease and desist”, he stated.

According to Ibe Kachikwu, The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, has stated that Nigeria needs about $1.2 billion to repair the three refineries of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

On Thursday, at a news briefing in Abuja, The minister, said reports of the concession of Port Harcourt refinery to Oando and Agip companies were untrue.

He further said that a technical committee set up by the government to undertake the review and selection process was yet to submit its report.

“We have not selected any firm yet even though some firms have shown interests.

“We need about 1.2 billion dollars to repair and bring the three refineries of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna, up to 100 percent production level”, he said.

Kachikwu added that the cost of the project had been determined in terms of the extent of work required.

“The total cumulative amount is in the 1.1 billion dollars and 1.2 billion dollars category between all the refineries. And that, of course, does not include the pipelines.

“You have got to address the pipelines and that is something else that is being done”, he noted.

He explained that Nigeria spent about N4.74 trillion on the importation of petrol in the past year which was 30 percent of the total foreign exchange outlay of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

“The importation of petroleum products between January and December of last year amounted to about 20 million metric tonnes.

“A total amount of N3.4 trillion was spent, the consumption of FX from CBN was approximately 30 percent of CBN total FX outlay, and the logistic costs of that importation was about N1.34 trillion within the same one-year period”‎, he added.

WHAT sustains your passion as a musician?

The excitement and happiness I bring to people. By the work we do, which is entertaining people, and making them happy. We also impart knowledge through music and pass message through the music we do. Above all, I’m also a positive role model to a lot of young ones growing up and making them believe they can be who they want to be despite the situation in the country.

What has been a seminar experience for you?

I’m just gifted, and in everything I do, I try to be outstanding. I try to be different, I try to be unique. Everything that I say or do is a gift and I always pay attention to the innermost ear before I take my decisions.

How has your practice of music changed overtime?

[Sigh]If I follow my musical career from the beginning, I will say every time that I change my style of music; even this morning, I was thinking of moving to some new direction. I think that has been part of my staying power for 17 years. I think the ability to change my sounds and style and even my looks and all that keep me going. It’s always important to diversify.
Was there any real-life experience that inspired your music?

I think we go through a lot every day, and for me, what really gives me energy are challenges, and when people try to underestimate me or try to look down at me, those are the moments I love in my life because they trigger me to get to the next level. Recently, somebody told me: look you can’t make it anymore. I think you have gotten to your peak. And I said to him; are you serious! Are you God? Since then, I have been working round the clock to make sure that I prove to that person that God has the final say.

How do you react to controversies about you?

Well, angry comments from fans are what we are used to, and it is part of the business. So, for me, I’m the least among the rest that will ever get angry with what anybody says, because what they say doesn’t matter; it doesn’t count. What counts is what I say and what I do. However, most of the things you see on my social media are strategic; majority of them are planned, because you need that feedback, you need people to talk about you, like the journalist will say; the negative press is always the best. It’s good for the career.

I don’t take anything to heart. I don’t take anything too seriously, because I know where I’m going, Some angry fans are sensible, some of them are strategic with their criticisms, some of them are not hating, but they are analysing genuinely. Unfortunately, social media are not being used the right way anymore; they now use it to abuse everybody.

Recently, you mentioned Harrysong when advising artistes about contracts; what do you have to say to this?

Well, I never mentioned anybody, I never mentioned Harry. I think I was just talking to artistes generally, as far as I’m concerned, this business has been here for a while, and I have grown from being a signee and I started signing people and people signed me also. I did four years with Kennies music, I did two years with another record label DKL, and I had my own record company with my formal partner, from KP record to Glitz record finally Fivestar music.

I think I have a lot of experiences, and a lot of things to say about it . That was why I said they should learn how to keep to their promises and their agreement and their contract and also the record company should also make sure that the artists are aware of what they are signing because they are always hungry. And when I mean HUNGRY, I’m talking about the hunger and taste for that fame, that high level of getting their dreams come true. When they get it, they forget where they are coming from, they forget they signed the contract, they forget there is something called law binding the business, they forget there is something called karma.

So I was just trying to cry out to the record companies to help the younger ones to put their eyes straight to the contract because at the end of the day, when you were about to help them, you didn’t see their parents, friends, you didn’t see anybody but when they get the light, you see them trying to tell people they have people behind them. Thus, if the record label takes the issue of breach of contract seriously, and try to follow the law, a lot of them will end their career in jail. So, they just need to be careful and that was just what I was trying to say. I wasn’t actually pointing finger.

Do you see yourself quitting music?

I don’t think so. Except if God says so. King Sunny Ade has been doing music for long and at this age, who am I? If there are some challenges that are beyond my control other than that, I think I’m still ready to keep doing this.

Do you see yourself leaving FIVE STAR music having been in many groups in the past?

Fivestar is my company, Fivestar is like my home, my record label, it belongs to me and my brother. Anything that will make me leave Fivestar will be, maybe an international deal that is worth it, I’m looking forward to better days; maybe getting a foreign deal, apart from that, I don’t see me signing any other record deal in Nigeria., I don’t think that will be possible, instead, I’m going to make Fivestar one of the biggest on the desk for anyone to come to sign.

Any advice for your fans and upcoming artistes?

Just be yourself, stay positive, and pray. Don’t get carried away with the whole drama on social media because a lot of people lie and when you see them, you think they are larger than life. If you don’t have the talent at all, and you know you can study, face it and go to school.

Grab something and you know what you can do. Don’t come into entertainment or you want to play soccer or do this because XYZ is doing it. Be truthful to yourself; a lot of musicians are on the street of Lagos because Davido is balling, P-square is living in mansion, Kcee is buying numerous cars and travelling around the globe, then everybody wants to sing,. You are wrong.

Do you plan to build a dance school?

No! Dance is what I love to do and play a lot, I’m a very happy person and my dance isn’t the serious one, I only just play around. So, instead of having a dance school, I will rather have a soccer academy because that was how I started.

16-year-old boy chops off penis after smoking Indian hemp

According to a sad incident, which says how a 16-year-old boy has cut off his manhood and almost killed his mum after he smoked Indian hemp.

The teenager had gone to bed with a knife, as he started hallucinating, fearing that some people lived right inside the walls of his room.

He got up in the night and stabbed his mother before chopping off his own penis in what doctors said was “cannabis-induced psychotic episode.”

According to the statement his father told the BBC how the drug turned his otherwise “very bright, bubbly lad” into a paranoid “waste of space.”

“He basically had a psychotic episode and did huge amounts of harm to both himself and his mother,” the distraught father said.

The man said his son tried smoking Indian hemp with a few friends before becoming “completely addicted.”

He said his son had delusions, believing mermaids were real and thought “people were living in the walls.”

Doctors say the boy would undergo further surgery in the coming days.
