The former governor of Imo Owelle Rochas Okorocha has warned Governor Emeka Ihedioha to stop harassing his wife and children. Okorocha in a statement on Friday signed by his Special Adviser (media) said Ihedioha should take charge as the governor of the State and halt the incessant harassment and abuse of his wife and children by his senior appointees and their foot soldiers.

Ihedioha and Okorocha He lamented that: ‘thugs believed to be working for the secretary to the State Government, Chief Onyeaguocha invaded a mechanic workshop around the Orji flyover and took away a vehicle undergoing repair and owned by the daughter of the former governor, Uloma Nwosu nee Okorocha. Even when she later sent her staff with the particulars of the vehicle they took away, to show that the vehicle does not belong to the State Government and to show that she bought the vehicle long time ago, they threatened to beat her and detain her and never cared to look at the particulars of the vehicle.

If Ihedioha’s government wanted anything from any of the former governor’s children or wife they could do so through the Police or DSS in the State. Invading their houses or impounding their private vehicles even from the mechanics for any reason, is barbaric and should be frowned at.’

We want to make this appeal and ask Governor Emeka Ihedioha to take charge as the governor of the State and halt the incessant harassment and abuse of the wife and children of the former governor of the State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha by his senior appointees and their foot soldiers. Specifically, Governor Ihedioha should call Uche Onyeaguocha and his thugs to order and stop them from their harassment and abuse of the wife and children of the former governor.

Chief Ihedioha should not create an ugly history or set a very bad precedence as the first governor of the State who took delight in harassing the children and wife of the man he succeeded as governor. Chief Ikedi Ohakim never harassed or abused the children and wife of Achike Udenwa he succeeded as governor.

Owelle Rochas Okorocha for one day, never harassed or abused the wife and children of Chief Ohakim who he succeeded also as governor. Ihedioha should follow those examples. His appointees have been harassing and castigating the children and wife of the former governor even at public functions and in the media. This is not good for the Office of governor.

They can criticize or malign Rochas Okorocha on any issue which they have been doing, but to begin to harass the children and wife, is unacceptable to us and indeed, to all decent men and women in the society. It is also important to remind those who have got appointments for chewing election result sheets that no human being has the monopoly of thuggery or lawlessness and the most dangerous situation could arise when people are pushed to the wall. It also gives the wrong impression that those who want to be Secretary to the Government of the State should only need to tear or chew election result sheets.

Okorocha’s wife and children never committed any crime by remaining in the State after he had left as governor, when the children and wives of those before him are all at overseas. They are here because they believe in the State and Owelle has an addiction for the good of the State. Finally, people should not see Rochas Okorocha’s penchant for peace and tolerance as weakness. A word should be enough for the wise.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has named rave-making Nigerian sprinter Divine Oduduru the Co-Men’s Track Athlete of the Year.

At the NCAA Division 1 Championships concluded last weekend in Austin,Texas, Oduduru successfully completed a sprint double, winning the 100m and 200m titles in scintillating fashion.

Oduduru scorched out of the block in explosive fashion in the 100m, going 9.86 for his third sub-10 race of the season. Barely an hour later, the 22 year old delivered another sub-20 in the 200m.

In the history of track and field, such has been done 12 times, and Oduduru owns three of them.

The 9.86 seconds in the 100m tied him for the world lead and the 19.73 seconds in the 200m surpassed the 19.76 seconds he ran in April – the then second-fastest time ever run by a collegiate – to make it so he now owns both the second- and third-fastest time in collegiate history. This was done after helping the 4×100 relay team to a Texas Tech University record for the fourth consecutive time racing it this year.

Oduduru also became the second Nigerian to complete a sprint double at the Championship behind Olapade Adeniken who made history at the University of Texas’ Mike Myers Stadium some 27 years ago (1992).Interestingly, Oduduru also achieved his sprint double at the same track.

A 39-year-old fraudster, Taiwo Salami, and his accomplice, Kamorudeen Amusat, 63, have been arrested for hypnotised, raping and robbing a virgin of N1.4 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

While parading them on Thursday, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Shina Olukolu. Salami, said: “The two suspects were arrested around Eleyele, on June 7, 2019, for hypnotising Miss Mary Ajayi and collecting the cash sum of N1,400,000 from her. .

On May 6, 2019, about 11.30a.m, Mary Ajayi was sent to deposit a cash of N1.4 million into Access Bank, Dugbe, Ibadan by her boss, Chioma Nwali, a businessman at Oke Padre area of Ibadan. .
.
On her way to the bank, she was stopped by Salami, who spoke to her, in the process, he allegedly hypnotised her. She immediately lost her senses. She was thereafter taken to an uncompleted building at Inalehinde, where the cash of N1.4 million was collected from her. .
.
The suspects, after successfully luring their victim into the uncompleted building and collecting the huge sum of money from her, tied her up with a white cloth and inflicted several injuries on her body. .
.
Apart from inflicting injuries on the victim, who was a virgin, also raped her several times. They later locked her up for three days, before she was later rescued and taken to hospital for medical treatment.
