The Inspector-General of Police IGP Ibrahim Idris has named a new office complex in Lagos Police Mobile Force Headquarters Squadron 20 (MOPOL 20), Ikeja Lagos after two Gallant Mobile Police Officers Chukwudi Iboko, and Sunday Agbo, who lost their lives during a robbery attack in Owerri.

The Inspector General of Police said Chukwudi Iboko and Sunday Agbo who died while repelling a robbery attack in one of the Zenith Bank branch in Owerri Imo state earlier in February this year were immortalized as a result of their selfless service in the Nigeria Police force to inspire other officers to put more effort at the discharge of their various duties.

According to IGP Idris, the officers were honored because they are patriotic to the discharge of their duties. “The officers have shown serious Commitment in delivering their gallant duty while they are on duty and the Nigeria Police force will never forget them”.

IGP Idris Ibrahim also added that the Mega Office Complex which is situated at the Police Mobile Force Headquarters, Squadron 20, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, has been erected to enhance the smooth discharge of officers’ duty to gallantly combat crime to the barest minimum.

In reactions to the honorary kind gesture, the families of the deceased officers expressed their gratitude to the Inspector General of Police for remembering the fallen heroes who died while gallantly combating crime in their nation, they urged IGP to help in facilitating all the financial benefits of the falling officers.

Recall that the two policemen who have also been pronounced heroes by many Nigerians after the video of the shoot-out with the robbers went viral on the Internet have also been recommended for a post-humous promotion by the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, to encourage other officers in actively discharging their duty to serve and protect Nigerians.

Also, in attendance at the commissioning of the Office complex are DIG: NorthWest Zone- Magairi Dikko, DIG Folusho Adebanjo, Ag. Commissioner of Police, Lagos Police Command- CP Imohim Edgal, amongst several other senior officers.

Muslims in Western China Ordered to Turn in Qurans, Other Religious Items
Chinese officials in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region have ordered Muslim families living there to turn in all religious items, Radio Free Asia reported this week. This includes prayer mats and copies of the Quran, the Muslim holy book.

An ethnic Kazakh living in Xinjiang’s Altay area told RFA that officials have been confiscating the religious items. “Pretty much every household has a Quran, and prayer mats,” said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Dilxat Raxit, spokesperson for the World Uyghur Congress group, said similar reports have come from Kashgar, Hotan and other areas.

He said, “We received a notification saying that every single ethnic Uyghur must hand in any Islam-related items from their own home.”

Raxit said police are making the announcements on the social media service WeChat. And people must hand over these items voluntarily or they will face punishment.

Raxit said, "The announcements say that people must hand in any prayer mats of their own accord to the authorities, as well as any religious reading matter, including anything with the Islamic moon and star symbol on it."

Earlier this year, Xinjiang officials began confiscating all Qurans published more than five years ago because of what they described as “extremist content.”

The Qurans were taken as part of a Xinjiang-wide campaign that bans “illegal” publicity materials, religious activities and religious teachings that officials consider to be tools of terrorism.

The secessionist struggle in Nigeria is spilling blood on Bengaluru roads, with student taking sides over the issue and clashing repeatedly.

Times of India reports that the price are now looking at getting the students concerned deported.

In the last series of attack and courtier-attack over the Biafra secession issue in Nigeria, a dozen student acted a ruckus in Henry in the early hours of Sunday, allegedly attacking the residence of one Elvis Ohachosim 39, and set his car ablaze.
The pre-dawn attack was in retaliation to Elvis attacking two Nigerian friends the previous evening.

Police said Sunday’s arson is the latest skirmish between two groups of Nigerians since September 3, when one N. Chigozie allegedly died in suspicious circumstances, after clashes between the gangs at an African restaurant.

“We have filed four cases against these two groups in just 20 days,” a police officer said.

Chigozie’s brother Nonso, meanwhile, filed a complaint accusing a group of Nigerians, led by Aiwa, of attacking him and his brother at African Kitchen in Kothanur, on the night of September 2, while discussing Biafran issue. Police held six Africans and recently, all of them were released on bail.

Elvis is believed to have led a gang of Nonso’s supporters and attacked Christoper Okwi Onuigbo and his friend Ani Charles, who was arrested for the September 2 attack on Nonso.

Kothanur police filed a case against six people, including Elvis. Nonso’s supporters have been identified as Elvis Ohachosim, Emmanuel, Grant, Pastor Jeremiah, among others.

His rivals are Aiwa Chuks, Obinna Charles, Okwuchukwu Christopher, Chinedu, Zola Henry, Blessing Ikoko, Morris, Black C, Vin, Sunny Ejinkeonye, Gana Nwagbo, Bona Nwaizu and others.

Ooni of Ile Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi Sunday commenced seven days seclusion, preparatory to the adorning of ‘Are’ crown, worn once a year by the paramount ruler.

Before going into the seclusion, Ooni had visited ‘Ile ‘mole’, a shrine in Moore for prayers and later moved to the seclusion where he would remain incommunicado till Friday evening.



Unveiling a betting company as the media sponsor of this year’s Olojo Festival, Ooni called on the media to assist in creating positive awareness about Yoruba traditional festivals.

On what he will be doing during the seclusion, Ooni, who spoke with newsmen in his palace, said during the period, he would offer prayers for the country and its leadership.

According to the monarch, during the seclusion, he would not be receiving visitors nor seen outside, adding that “our ancestors will be appeased during the period and by the time I reemerged on Saturday for the grand finale, the rites will be concluded.

“It is a celebration of creation of the universe and many visitors from within the country and the diaspora will come around to celebrate with us. My duty is specifically to offer prayers and that I will do to the best of my ability.”

On the significance of the festival, the royal father said Olojo is the celebration of first dusk and dawn and creation of the universe, with an assurance to work towards promoting further all notable cultural festivals in Yorubaland.
