A man identified as Kolawole Taiwo has told his mother-in-law to be happy that he didn’t beat her daughter to death in Lagos.

It was gathered that Mr. Taiwo went violent during a domestic issue at their Abaranje, Ikotun, and beat his wife to a pulp before calling his in-law on the phone to update her.

He then went ahead to seize his wife’s phones, money and restrained her from leaving their apartment. However, she eventually escaped through the help of their neighbors. The suspect has since gone into hiding.

An Ilorin High Court, presided over by Justice Adenike Akinpelu, yesterday, sentenced a notorious armed robber, Olatunji Ibrahim Ariyo, and his cohorts to death by hanging.

Ariyo, who is notorious in the state capital for his nefarious activities, was sentenced alongside Ganiyu Sulyman Yaro, Timothy Oyebanji, Lukman Olateju Sanda and Akeem Olayinka (deceased).

According to Justice Akinpelu, the convicts were tried on a six-count charge of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, causing mischief by fire and theft.

The court held that, on April 25, 2015, the convicts committed the said offences at Agbarere, Ilorin.

“Each of the convicts is sentenced to imprisonment for a term of two years and the sum of N25,000 is imposed as fine on each of them on count five for causing mischief by fire.

Each of the convicts is sentenced to death to be executed pursuant to Robbery and Firearms Act on count one, two, three and four for the offences of criminal conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery, respectively,” the judge said.

A porn star has transformed herself into a "living sex doll" after she underwent a series of surgeries to achieve her goal.

A few hours to the 2019 general elections, the Delta State Police Command says it has uncovered substances suspected to be improvised explosive device along the Ughelli/Patani Road in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Adeyinka Adeleke, on Friday, called on residents to remain calm and vote peacefully in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Adeleke said the bomb was discovered by men of the Anti Robbery Squad led by its Commander, SP Masoyi Dadi on Thursday night.

The command in a statement signed by its Acting Spokesman, Chuks Oresewezie, noted that IED was intercepted in an unregistered white Toyota Hilux Van which refused to stop.

The police commissioner, who assuaged the fears of Deltans, stated that there was no reason to be apprehensive over the matter as the command had launched an investigation into it.

10 minors, including a 9-month-old baby, have been rescued from a gang of human traffickers in Katsina State.

The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Comptroller, Ajisafe Olusola, said the rescued children were all below the age of 11.

He also added that two female suspects, Deborah Adewunmi, 29, and Moriliya Ibrahim, 31, were arrested in connection with the crime on Feb. 11, 2019. .

The NIS boss said investigations showed that the suspects were conveying the minors to Libya through Niger Republic without valid travel documents.
