A 26-year-old housemaid, Franker Amaha, has stunned her boss after she fled with foreign currencies estimated at N1.6m six hours into her employment. The woman identified simply as Mrs Taiye of Masha area, Surulere, Lagos State, had engaged Amaha, whom she knew as Esther, on July 25, 2019 through an agent in Ikorodu. City Round learnt that two hours after they arrived home, they left for the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, to pick up Taiye’s sister, who just returned from abroad. On getting home, Amaha reportedly sneaked into where her boss’ sister put her luggage, stole the hard currencies – $2800, £1,000 and 2000 Dutch Guilder – and fled. It was gathered that efforts by the woman to locate Amaha proved abortive as she switched off her phones. Taiye realised she was in for a complex matter when checks at the form she submitted with the agent revealed her home address and her guarantor’s as fake. The case, initially reported at the Surulere Police Station, was later referred to the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team and a manhunt was launched for the suspect. The detectives eventually trailed Amaha to her friend’s house in the Ajah area of Lagos State and apprehended her. A police source said investigation revealed that the suspect carefully planned the crime. He said, “The suspect went to the agent on July 24 and the agent asked that she should fill a form and get a guarantor. Because she has a plan, she filled the form with a fake name and attached a fake passport photograph to the form. “She identified herself as Esther whereas she is Franker (Amaha). On July 25, she was taken to the house of one Mrs Taiye, at Masha, Surulere, to work as a home help and offered to be paid N20,000. “Incidentally, a sister of her new boss returned from abroad on that same day. She followed her new boss to the airport to pick up her sister. When they got home, she entered into the room where her boss’ sister’s bags were kept. “She opened one of the bags and stole all the foreign currencies therein, including $2,800, £1,000 and 200 Dutch Guilder. She left the house instantly. While the security man at the gate tried to stop her, she told him that she had problems with the madam. While the guard was trying to confirm from the woman, she took a motorcycle. She ran to Ajah to meet one of her friends and threw away her SIM cards.” In an interview with City Round during the week, Amaha said she stole the money to treat her sick mother. The indigene of Cross River State said she approached one Mr Frank, a job agent, and Frank in turn led her to one Ade who linked her to Taiye. She explained, “I gave her a fake name and address because I have the intention of stealing from her. I got to her house around noon and we went to the airport around 3:30pm to pick her sister. I opened her (sister’s) bag and took money from it. “I stole six $100 notes, five pieces of £20, five pieces of $20 and £100. I changed $100 and made my hair with it and bought a pair of sleepers. I changed the remaining money to naira and deposited it into my account. I stole her money because I got a call from my village that my mother was sick. Please help me beg her to forgive me.” https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/maid-who-stole-n1-6m-six-hours-after-employment-arrested/amp/

Nigerian woman in the United Kingdom, Gloria Makanjuola, who committed a series of robberies and theft on buses in Hackney, even targeting an 87-year-old woman, has been jailed. Makanjuola, 28, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court to two years and eight months' imprisonment after pleading guilty to eight counts of robbery, four counts of theft and four counts of fraud at an earlier hearing at Thames Magistrates’ Court. Makanjuola committed the offences between September 2018 and October 2018 across Hackney. Her victims were aged between 18 and 87 years and all the offences occurred on buses in Hackney. One victim, an 87-year-old man, was targeted by Makanjuola as he travelled on a route around Wick Road. She sat next to the victim and tried to put her hands in his pocket, he told her to stop but she managed to grab around £80 in cash. On another occasion, an 18-year-old woman was on board a route 277 bus in the area of Mare Street, E5 when Makanjuola started talking to her. During the conversation, she kept touching the victim and was crying. The victim told her to leave her alone, Makanjuola then left the bus by pressing the emergency exit button. When the victim got up to leave the bus, she noticed that her purse and oyster card had been stolen. Detective Sergeant Coleman, the senior investigating officer from the Roads and Transport Policing Command, said; “Gloria Makanjuola was a prolific offender in the Hackney area. She targeted vulnerable passengers using the bus network system, committing robbery or theft offences. If bank cards were stolen, she used the opportunity to use the cards to make contactless payments at local stores. “Working in partnership with the Safer Transport Teams and Transport for London, Makanjuola was identified and arrested for various robbery and theft related offences. I would like to thank the victims in this investigation who had the courage to report these matters and assist in the police investigation. Without their support, this outcome would not have been possible.” CCTV footage was obtained from the buses and Makanjuola was identified by the investigation team and Safer Transport Team officers A number of the victims were able to recognise Makanjuola during the course of formal identification parades. Detective Superintendent Andy Cox, the lead investigator for transport network crime across London, said; “We are focused on targeting prolific criminals like Makanjuola who target and prey on the most vulnerable commuters. Through extensive CCTV coverage across the transport network, we are able to identify and bring offenders to justice.” The court also heard that Makanjuola is currently serving a sentence for similar offences which she committed last year in the Hackney area. A woman murdered her father by serving him a poisoned hamburger then encased his body in concrete under the home they shared. Dayna Jennings, 45, was sentenced to life in prison for killing her 69-year-old father, Willima Mussack, whose body was found under their home in Denver in January 2018, Jennings was convicted of first degree-murder in July after an autopsy proved Mussack was poisoned by acepromazine, an animal tranquilizer. Mussack’s son, Brian, told investigators that his father texted him in December 2017 and said Jennings had ‘drugged’ him. In the text, Mussack went on to say that he ‘had been unconscious for 15 hours after taking a bite of hamburger she had given him.’ It was the last time Brian Mussack heard from his father. Five weeks later, William Mussack’s body was discovered to be encased in concrete in a crawl space under his home. Police investigated the home and said it smelled ‘like sewage and something rotting,’ which Jennings told officers was an overflowed toilet, adding that her father went to the mountains with his girlfriend. Italian prime minister to resign after attack on ‘opportunist’ far right deputy Jennings was later interviewed at the Federal Heights police station. During the interview, the officer questioning her received information that human remains were found under the home. During the interview, Jennings admitted pouring concrete in the crawl space. When the officer said authorities were at the home breaking up the concrete, Jennings asked for a lawyer. After she was found guilty, Chief Deputy District Attoryney Rhonda Pilmer said: “Jennings repeatedly misled the family after they became concerned about Mussack, describing everyday routines as if things were fine. “All the while, she was scheming about how to get rid of her father’s body. She researched the drug, ordered it, received it. All of those were opportunities to stop and ask herself, ‘Am I really going to poison my father?”‘ It is unclear what motivated Jennings to kill her father, but police said her massage business fell apart and her husband left her just before the murder. Her ex-husband reportedly told investigators that Jenning was in a ‘downward spiral’ after her business collapsed and she displayed ‘patterns of intense and unstable relationships with family, friends, and loved ones.’ See more photos here; http://gistmore.com/woman-kills-father-with-poisoned-hamburger-buries-him-in-concrete

Gift Alonge’s story is one that drives a sword into the heart. She was raped by her biological father who threatened that she would die if she opened up to anyone about the matter. But she braved the odds to cry out and paid the ultimate price as she died with her five-month-old pregnancy. Although her 42-year-old errant father, Jacob Alonge, a farmer and native doctor, has been committed to prison, she did not live to see the man that caused her pains walk into jail. In the words of D. Adamaigbo, the presiding Magistrate at Edo Family Court, “her father threatened her that if she revealed to the public she would die. She actually revealed it and she died.” The late Gift was raped by her father in 2017, and he threatened her by administering an oath of silence on her. He continued to rape her until she turned 15 and got her pregnant. The bizarre incident occurred at Ososo village in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area. The first time he raped Gift, according to the poor girl’s statement to the police, it was in the bush. He was said to have told Gift that they were going for prayers. In her statement as quoted in court, she said: “My father, by name Jacob Alonge, used to wake me up at night and said I should follow him for prayers. When we got inside the bush, he would force me and have sexual intercourse with me.” In the second statement she made at the state police headquarters, she said: “He threatened me not to tell anybody, and that if I did, he would kill me. One night, he called me and put me on top of a stone and used a razor blade to shave my private part and threatened me not to tell anybody.” The bubble, however, burst when Gift became pregnant last year. Members of the Braveheart Initiative Organisation (BHI) took up the case. They arranged for counselling and ante-natal care while her father was arrested. At the Ososo Police Station, he was said to have made a statement confessing to the crime of incest, and the case was transferred to the family unit of the State CID in Benin City. Gift was offered shelter by her maternal uncle, Mr. Ukere Adagbogu, who took a keen interest in his niece’s case and was also determined to get justice for her. Jacob was subsequently arraigned before the court and he pleaded guilty to the charges. The Magistrate fixed judgement for January 16, 2019 Tragedy, however, struck on the day fixed for judgment as Gift, her uncle Ukere Adagbogu, Rhoda Braimoh, Promise Ezekiel and the driver of their vehicle, died in an auto crash on their way from Igarra to the court in Benin City to witness the judgment. On hearing the news about his daughter’s death, Alonge changed his guilty plea to not guilty, as he presumed that all the witnesses to the case were dead. At the Family Court, Jacob pleaded not guilty to the amended charges preferred against him. In the three count amended charges read at the Family Court, Jacob was accused of being in possession without lawful and reasonable excuse, fetish wrap of his late daughter’s pubic hair at Okeh Quarter in Ososo village, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area. Jacob was accused of having unlawful and indecent carnal knowledge of his biological daughter against the order of nature, and in the process impregnated her. He was said to have repeatedly had carnal knowledge of his daughter without her consent. The offences are punishable under sections 213, 358 and 214 of the Criminal Code cap 48 Laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria now applicable in Edo State. On August 1 when judgment was delivered, Jacob was sentenced to 21 years imprisonment. Alonge was convicted on all three count charges of unlawful possession of fetish wrap of the victims’ pubic hair, unlawfully and indecently having canal knowledge of his biological daughter, repeated sexual assault and for impregnated her. Delivering judgment in the case, the Presiding Magistrate, D.I Adamaigbo (Mrs) sentenced Jacob Alonge to five years on count one, two years and 14 years respectively on count two and three. The jail terms are to run consecutively. Adamaigbo said: “He consecutively had sex with her who is his own daughter and got her pregnant and thereby subjected her to shame and emotional stress. May her soul rest in peace. “To serve as a deterrent to others and would be offenders, we are of the opinion that the defendant should not have a space in a decent society.” Adamaigbo said the statement of the victim and the evidence of the PW1 confirmed what the victim said that “she was five months pregnant and that she was demoralized, emotionally distressed is sufficient corroboration that the victim was indeed sexually assaulted. “It has been established beyond reasonable doubt that the accused had canal knowledge of the victim as she said in her statement. Her statement was corroborated by the statement of the police in evidence. “The convict admitted in his statement and the law is that evidence admitted need no further proof. The defence that he was lured into the crime by his own daughter is an afterthought. We therefore find him guilty of each of the counts.” Reacting to the judgment, Executive Director of BHI, Priscillia Usiobaifo, said: “We have seen how resilience can prove worthwhile. I am very happy that there is no option of fine because we have had several cases that we won and they would give options of fine. This has encouraged us, and those that died did not die in vain.” https://www.google.com/amp/s/thenationonlineng.net/15-yr-old-impregnated-by-dad-dies-mysteriously/amp/

Former Big Brother Nigeria housemates, Teddy A and BamBam, recently took to social media to share the news of their engagement. Many commented that the engagement was a publicity stunt while others predicted that the union would not last. Speaking with Saturday Beats, Bambam said, “It (engagement) is real. Just like every other thing, you would see it happen. I can’t start giving (wedding) dates”. BamBam also advised intending couples to be best friends with their partners so they can know each other’s limits and boundaries. She stated, “If you cannot make a best friend out of your intending partner, where you know their limits and their boundaries, then you are messed up really. I am blessed that Teddy is mature, not careless, and as public figures, we know how to manage situations that seem beyond our control.” Describing her union with Teddy in the Big Brother house as fate, she said, “Fate happened to us. I can’t say it was pre-planned. He had a serious relationship that was one-year-old before I met him. He had a girlfriend he was serious with, so we did not plan to fall in love with each other. We did not know we would last this long. We had a very rare connection in the house. We both knew it but we kept telling ourselves ‘it’s just for the game’ but it was no game. So, I can’t predict what fate has designed. So, people should not go in there hoping to be a Teddy A and BamBam. I went to the house for a different purpose, but ended up getting Teddy as a bonus.” Speaking on her challenges running a business in Nigeria, she said the irregularity of power supply was a major issue. She added, “Since I have had my own factory, electricity has been a major challenge. I have to always run generators which are not cost-effective and affect profits. However, these issues have not dissuaded me from furthering the business. I am capitalising on my strong survival mentality as a Nigerian.” See more here; http://gistmore.com/my-relationship-with-teddy-a-started-as-a-game-bambam

It was time-up for six suspected internet fraudsters, better known as "Yahoo Boys" on Wednesday August 7, 2019, as operatives of EFCC, an early morning raid, stormed their apartment on No.28b Church Road Uyo. The suspects are: Ugochukwu Ndukwu (a 25-years-old disc jockey, DJ); Stanley Ibeh, 27 (who claimed to be an interior decorator); Godwin Akpan and John Larry, aged 26 and 24 respectively, who both said they are students; Godwin Ini Obot, 27 who claimed to be a cinematographer and 24-year-old Victor Ejiogu, who said he was a serving member of National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC). Even though the suspects claimed to be involved in different legitimate lines of businesses and academic pursuits, forensic analysis of their laptops revealed scam mails and documents that established their involvements in internet fraud. Upon their arrest, Victor Ejiogu, the 24-year-old NYSC member tried to conceal and destroy what would be incriminating evidences against them by throwing their laptops all the way down from the third floor of the three storey building where they live. However, the Commission's forensic experts were able to power the laptops and retrieve the scam mails and fraudulent documents, the suspect wanted to destroy. They are all currently making useful statements to the Commission and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
