Politics / DSS Warns Against Flaunting Of Wealth On Social Media by Gistreportar(m): 3:09pm On Dec 02, 2022
In order to avoid attracting the attention of violent criminals, especially kidnappers and armed robbers, the Directorate of State Services, or DSS, has issued a warning to upwardly mobile people, particularly young people, to stop engaging in the growing trend of careless display of material wealth.

The security service claims in a statement that it is usual to see young individuals flaunting their collection of flashy automobiles, recently finished residences that are lavishly furnished, and cash to demonstrate that they have “blown” (made it). The agency claims that some people purposefully film themselves at ceremonies showering cash in bundles and then upload the video to social media for maximum exposure. Others solicit the public’s account information in exchange for financial rewards.

The agency opined that coming at a time that criminality is getting more sophisticated and violent, this fad simply ”makes no sense.” According to the security agency, these criminals are always on the watch out for an opportunity to strike.

”Even if the wealth flaunter adequately secures himself or herself, what about their loved ones who are put at risk?

Politics / Diezani Gave Politicians $115m To Compromise 2015 Polls, Says EFCC by Gistreportar(m): 6:14pm On Dec 01, 2022
Diezani Alison-Madueke, a former minister of petroleum resources, is accused of giving politicians $115 million to tamper with the 2015 elections, according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, made this statement on Wednesday in Lagos during an INEC introduction retreat for new resident electoral commissioners.

Adukwu Michael, the anti-graft agency’s top superintendent, acted as Bawa’s representative.

During the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Diezani served as the minister of petroleum resources from 2010 to 2015.

She fled the country just before President Jonathan ceded power to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

While serving as a minister, the former official is accused of stealing $2.5 billion from the Nigerian government.
She has, however, refuted the accusations, and the EFCC has now started the extradition procedure.

Diezani’s properties, which included 18 apartments and six penthouses, were forfeited to the federal government and are now located in Banana Island Foreshore Estate in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Muhammad, a final-year student at the department of environmental management, is from the Bauchi state town of Azare.

Muhammad’s tweet, accompanied by a photo of Aisha, loosely translates as “Mama has eaten poor people’s money and is now full”.
