Mr. Obiajulu Uja, a middle-aged man who disrupted a flight from Abuja to Lagos over the weekend by standing up and declaring that Bola Tinubu would never be sworn in as president on May 29, was arraigned before the Zuba Magistrates’ Court in Abuja on Monday, April 3, and was remanded in custody.

Uja was heard stating Tinubu would never be sworn in as president in a widely circulated video. Later, six airport security guards arrived and forcibly removed him from the plane. His efforts delayed the flight’s departure for more than an hour.

Uja was accused of violating sections 396, 267, 188, 172, and 144 of the Penal Code as well as of resisting a legal arrest, threatening violence, and public nuisance.

The Ifo magistrate court in Ogun state, has granted singer Portable bail. The Zazzu crooner was arraigned before the court this morning on three count charges bordering on assault and theft of musical equipment. The court granted him bail of N300, 000 with two sureties in like sum. The court ruled that two sureties must have landed properties within the vicinity of the court.

A woman in Australia went on a spending spree when a crypto company accidentally sent her $10,474,143.

The incident occurred when Thevamanogari Manivel received the money in her bank account in 2021. Instead of reporting it to authorities, she went on a shopping spree.

The winner of the presidential poll in Delta state has been proclaimed to be Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate.

According to the INEC findings, Obi received 341,866 votes, beating out Atiku Abubakar of the PDP who received 161,600 votes. Bola Tinubu of the APC received 90,183 votes to finish third. Rabiu Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s candidate, finished in a distant fourth place with 3,122 votes.

Award winning South African rapper AKA, real name is Kiernan Forbes, has been shot dead in Durban, South Africa on Friday, February 10.

The rapper who was based in Johannesburg flew into Durban earlier today February 10th for his birthday party which was scheduled to hold at Yugo Nightclub which he had advertised on his social media pages and asked fans to show up.

AKA went to the Fish Restaurant on Florida Road with some pals and his bodyguard two hours before to his death, and he shared his location on Instagram. After the supper, he left the establishment and was fatally shot just after 10 o’clock.

There are witnesses who say he was shot six times by someone who approached him, and there are other accounts that say the shooting was the result of a drive-by. AKA was shot killed while standing outside with pals as two automobiles went near the establishment. Along with him, a friend was shot and murdered, and his bodyguard was wounded.

Banks will continue to accept old naira notes after the deadline has passed, according to Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Emefiele stated on Tuesday when he appeared before the house of representatives’ special committee on the redesign of the currency and the naira swap policy.

After the deadline of February 10th, he claimed, the CBN will also accept old naira from banks.

Emefiele referred to the CBN legislation, which requires the top bank to keep taking old notes after they expire.

The CBN governor did not provide a time frame for when banks will stop accepting old notes, though.

Despite subsections (1) and (2) of this section, the CBN act’s section 20 (3) states that the bank has the authority to call in any of its notes or coins upon the president’s direction and after giving reasonable notice in that regard. However, subject to section 22 of the act, any note or coin with respect to which a notice has been given under this subsection ceases to be legal tender upon the expiration of the notice.

A N100 billion defamation lawsuit has been filed by Zainab-Duke Abiola, the late MKO Abiola’s widow, against the Nigerian police and inspector general Usman Baba.

City Power, an electricity distribution company in South Africa, has cut off power supply to the Nigerian consulate in Johannesburg over “unpaid bills”.

The DisCo claimed the consulate owed at least R600,000 (about $35,000) on Wednesday.

A federal high court in Abuja has summoned Godwin Emefiele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) over a $53 million judgement debt arising from the Pars Club refunds.

On October 20, 2022, Inyang Ekwo, the presiding judge, issued the order in response to a garnishee request from Joe Agi, a senior Nigerian attorney who serves as the judgment creditor.

Emefiele was required to appear in court on January 18 after the court granted the application.

The matter was postponed till March 20 at the court session on Wednesday, though.
