According to Punch Metro, the last surviving widow of the late Prime Minister Tafawa Balewa has died. Hajiya Jummai Aishatu Abubakar, Balewa’s last surviving widow, died on Sunday (today) at the of age 85.

President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with the family of the late Prime Minister on the loss. A Press release signed by Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media and Publicity), Garba Shehu, noted that the octogenarian died in a private hospital in Lagos.


In a message sent through the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, President Buhari said: “It was with the deepest sense of sorrow that I have learnt of the tragic demise of Hajiya Jummai Tafawa Balewa.

“In her sad demise, Nigeria has lost an outstanding political figure who was passionately committed to the cause of the family and the legacies of her late husband. “I convey my heartfelt condolences to members of the bereaved family, the government and people of Bauchi State and the entire people of our dear country. “May Allah repose her soul.”

Meanwhile, President Buhari has directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, to make an aircraft available from the Presidential fleet for the evacuation of the remains of the late Prime Minister’s wife from Lagos, where she had died in a private hospital.

Her body will be flown to Bauchi where her burial events will take place on Monday.

Nollywood actress, Amara Maduka has cried out over claims that Nigerian men with big manhood have absconded with foreigners and depleted the country’s reserve to few or nothing left to go around.

Speaking during an interview with The Sun she added that there is the need to make the issue a national matter.


“How a woman dresses has absolutely nothing to do with her being raped. People just don’t get it. An adult must learn self-control or they will always land in trouble. As women, we see men wear really tight pants and have their huge crotches bulging provocatively, but we don’t rape them. Even though, some of us just admire the thing and move on, because as adults, we know it is not an invitation. But I see them on Instagram.

“Sadly, we mostly see those big types online because we don’t have men with big eggplants (manhood) in Nigeria. Most of our men with big eggplants have absconded with foreigners, leaving us with few or nothing. This is so bad and I think it should be treated as a national emergency.

“Well, on average, the size doesn’t matter but the usage does. Then again, if it’s too small, wetin we gain? “

The Accra High Court has ordered Ghanaian star and NorthEast United striker, Asamoah Gyan, to pay his estranged wife, Gifty Gyan, £18,450.74 as maintenance fee.

Justice Hafisata Amaleboba of the court’s divorce and matrimonial division ruled that the money should be paid for the upkeep of Gyan’s three children in Gifty’s custody.


As the court prepares to give its final ruling on their divorce case, Justice Amaleboba maintained that Asamoah Gyan must settle bills and other expenditures covering water, electricity, gas, feeding, and others in arrears commencing from July 2018 to September 2019, totalling £18,450.74.

The order also includes “bills in respect of groceries £1, 500, fuel-£250, calls-£50, clothing-£200 in arrears commencing July 2019 to September 2019 totalling – £6,000”.

The Matrimonial Court also ordered that “bills for MoT (Ministry of Transport) Tax and insurance for the year 2019, amounting to £1,700 be paid. Gyan is also to pay the educational expenses of the three children, including those in arrears from July 2018 to September 2019 covering (pockets money, school trips, books etc), amounting to £2,800.

Asamoah Gyan, who is Ghana’s most capped player and highest goal-scorer, has been embroiled in a fresh setback that saw him lose his captaincy following a brawl with Black Stars coach ahead of AFCON.

Asamoah Gyan’s wife is seeking a divorce after Gyan accused her of sleeping around, demanding for a DNA test to ascertain the truth about the identity of their children.

One would think popular rapper, Naira Marley would be sober after his court ruling but he was spotted at a strip club gyrating with his friends.

On Tuesday, the musician appeared before Justice Owibo at the Federal High Court over the credit card fraud allegations leveled against him by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.


The case, however, was adjourned till Wednesday, October 23, 2019 so the rapper stepped out with his friends in a bid to clear his head. In the latest update, stolen credit card information issued by European, American and Latin American banks were found in the rapper’s possession and retrieved from a laptop allegedly belonging to him.

Justice Owibo has once again been pushed the case till Friday for cross examination of the witness.

Days after the Debt Management Office announced that Nigeria’s total public debt rose by N3.32trn in 12 months to N25.7trn as at the end of June 2019, Finance Minister Zainab Ahmed has stated that the country is not enmeshed in debt crisis as speculated by many. Speaking at a public hearing on the budget organised by the National Assembly on Wednesday October 23, Ahmed said the country's debt is within a reasonable limit. She stated that what the country has is revenue problem.



“Nigeria does not have a debt crisis”, she said.

“Our total borrowing today is just under 20% of our GDP while the multilateral institutions project for an economy our size to borrow up to 50-55% of our GDP.

"What we have is a revenue problem. Our revenue performance by half year is 58 per cent. So, we have designed this Strategic Revenue Growth Initiative early this year, which has three thematic areas.”

She added: “There is also the need for us to ensure that we have the right legal enablers and other enablers that will enhance revenue performance.

“Nigeria as a country must mobilise significant domestic resources to be able to make necessary investment in human capital as well as in physical infrastructure.”
