Nigerian Singer, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley who has been buzzing on social media for weeks now, is reported to have been involved in robbery and sexual assault at the age of 19 and was declared wanted by Lewisham Police in London.

A report from virtually five years ago, June 11, 2014 by News Shoppers, shows the rapper listed amongst other criminals who were wanted for sexual assault at the time.

In the report, they give Marley’s profile as “Azeez Fashola, 19, is wanted by police in connection with an incident in Surrey Canal Road, New Cross on March 5.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released a statement as an update to the arrest and trial of Nigerian musician; Naira Marley. The statement as posted on their Instagram page @officialefcc reads:

“Internet Fraud: Naira Marley Arraigned, Remanded in Prison Custody. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, on May 20, 2019 arraigned a Nigerian artiste, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, before Justice Nicholas I. Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on an 11-count charge bordering on cybercrime. The defendant was arrested on May 10, 2019, following intelligence report received by the Commission about his alleged involvement in internet fraud.

One of the counts reads: “That you, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Yad isril (still at large), on or about the 26th day of November, 2018, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, conspired amongst yourself to use Access card no : 5264711020433662 issued to persons other than you in a bid to obtain gain and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 27(1) (b) of the Cybercrime Prohibition, Prevention etc Act 2015 and punishable under Section 33(2) of the same Act.” The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.

In view of his pleas, the prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, asked the court for a trial date. He also prayed for accelerated hearing of the case and urged the court to remand the defendant in prison custody. Counsel to the defendant, Taiwo Oluwa Ore- Agba, asked the court for a date to hear the bail application on behalf of his client. Consequently, Justice Oweibo adjourned the case to May 30, 2019 and ordered the defendant to be remanded in prison custody pending the hearing of the bail application.

Prosecutors have dropped all charges against US actor Jussie Smollett for allegedly staging a racist and homophobic attack, his lawyers say.

The Empire actor attended a court hearing in Chicago on Tuesday, where a judge reportedly dismissed the case.

Iyanya: We started that label from scratch. I was the major sponsor of the label till my last day. I was in charge of everything. Yeah, once in a while here and there, he go support when he fit, but I was in charge of everything; house, videos, everything.

I was in charge. I was actually the boss of the Triple M G, but my nature ehn, I dey believe say e get where I go come out now tell you say I be boss ehn, you no go even need spell the ‘boss’. Joey Akan, an award-winning journalist has in an exclusive piece written for TheNativeMag exposed some dirty behind the scene events that actually caused the rift between Ubi Franklin and Iyanya.

Ubi Franklin and Iyanya were for long known to be co-owners of Triple MG but after a much-speculated fallout, Iyanya announced his exit from Triple MG and joined Mavin Records in October 2016.

Excerpts from the piece have now, however, revealed what really transpired between Ubi Franklin and Iyanya.

Apparently, Iyanya was betrayed and scammed by Ubi Franklin as all documents he signed which would certify him as co-owner of Triple MG was forged by Ubi. The original documents sent to the Corporate Affairs Commission had no trace of Iyanya on it. The company was solely owned by Ubi Franklin.

“Two years into his contract, Iyanya was at home when a strange number rang his phone once. He didn’t pick up. The caller was relentless, and as the hours progressed, the number of missed calls were amplified. Iyanya refused to pick it up. It was a strange number, and superstars don’t take strange calls. Might be a groupie, might be a conman, might be the father of your ex looking to shoot you for breaking his daughter’s heart. Best not to touch it.

And then the SMS came. The message was short and simple, sent to Iyanya’s phone: “Hello Iyanya, I am trying to save your life. Please, pick your call. It is very important.”

According to a close friend who was in a room with him, Iyanya was disturbed and curious. He had never received a message with this tone and urgency. He pondered over his next steps for a little while. His curiosity won. Iyanya dialled the number.

His world was put on a fast spin.

A male voice told Iyanya to go to Abuja. “I don’t know you, you don’t know me. But I am trying to help you. Go to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and ask for your Made Men Music Group company papers.”

All efforts by Iyanya to find out the owner of the voice and verify the person’s identity proved futile. The caller didn’t want to be known. According to him, he would lose his job if this tip was discovered. He just wanted to help because he liked Iyanya and his music. He was just a well-placed fan, looking out for his idol.

Iyanya obeyed. He flew to Abuja, found a hotel and began processing his papers at CAC. It took two days for it to be ready. When it got delivered to his room. Iyanya broke down in tears.

The papers brought on a very grim reality: Iyanya was never a part of Made Men Music Group. His name was not found in any of those papers, neither was his signature located in those papers. While creating and registering the company, these were not the papers that his lawyers reviewed and got him to sign. Those were forged. In his place, equity for the company was shared between Ubi Franklin and his siblings. Iyanya did not own a piece of his company. He was only an employee and talent signed to the company.”

The outgoing governor of Oyo State, Sen Abiola Ajimobi has a petition at the election petition tribunal against Dr. Kola Balogun, PDP’s candidate who was declared a winner by the INEC for the Oyo South Senatorial District.

Gov Abiola Ajimiobi who’s the candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) was defeated by Kola Balogun of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 105,720 votes to trump Abiola Ajimobi, who recorded 92,579 votes at the February 23rd general election.

Veteran Nigerian Fuji musician Taye Akande Adebisi, popularly known as Taye Currency's first child Yusuf Adebisi, has been elected to represent Ibadan South West 1 State constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly.

The 25-years-old newly elected member of the state House of Assembly won the seat under the platform of People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Yusuf Adebisi, who graduated from Al-hikmah University where he studied law, defeated the incumbent, Hon. Subair Kehinde Hassan, who was seeking a third term on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

With his election, he would be the youngest member of the Assembly.

It's a new dawn in Oyo State politics, as the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) Engr. Seyi Makinde emerges as the winner of the Saturday's governorship election in the state. Seyi Makinde wins the election with a wider margin of over 150,000 votes ahead of his close rival Bayo Adelabu of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

According to the officially released results by INEC, indicates that Seyi Makinde of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) wins 28 out of 33 local government in the state, as Bayo Adelabu of the APC's win 5 local government in the two-horse race election in the state.

According to overall collated results announced by INEC, Seyi Makinde polled 515,621 votes to beat his closest contestant, Adebayo Adelabu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 357,984 votes.

APC National Chieftain, Bola Tinubu and his people have successfully negotiated with Mr Adebayo Àlàó-Akálà, the ADP candidate to support the APC gubernatorial candidate, Mr Adebayo Adelabu in the Oyo governorship election next week.

Both Adelabu and the PDP candidate, Mr Seyi Makinde hail from Ibadan. Their votes would expectedly divide. This deal, which its cost has not been fully revealed is expected to give the APC access to bloc votes from the Ogbomoso region of Oyo State.

It's perhaps the best strategy following the 'heavy' losses APC suffered in Oyo State as a result of internal hatred for Governor Ajimobi last Saturday. They may have increased their chances of winning with this.

A source close to Tinubu said: “Tinubu and Alao-Akala met on Tuesday. Tinubu asked Alao-Akala, who has many supporters in Ogbomoso, to collapse his structure into that of Adelabu. We know that if Alao-Akala was in our camp, there was no way Atiku would have had such a good outing in Oyo State, especially Ogbomoso.“

The PDP governorship candidate, Seyi Makinde, is popular and he is also an Ibadan guy like Adelabu, which means that they will both split the votes in Ibadan. The APC will need to forge an alliance with elements in Ogbomoso to get an advantage.

“We knew that the people were not too happy with the governor as far back as June 2018 when the PDP candidate, Adebo Ogundoyin, won Ibarapa-East Constituency by-election which was held to fill the vacant position created by the death of former speaker of the House of Assembly, Michael Adeyemo. Alao-Akala had made some demands but Ajimobi did not play the politics right. Also, Ajimobi’s decision to convert some chiefs to full monarchs was unpopular among many people.”

Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has stated that in spite of the reported inadequacies that attended last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in Kwara State, he is wishing the candidates who emerged from the election the best of luck.

Dr. Saraki in a statement signed by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Yusuph Olaniyonu stated that while the election was generally peaceful there were inadequacies like the card readers not used in over 70 percent of the polling units while there was also multiple-voting, over-voting and other discrepancies that were reported by agents of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) across the state. He added that the state chapter of his party will take a position on the right response to these inadequacies.

“However, whatever the final outcome of the election, I wish the candidates that have emerged all the best in their attempts to serve our people. It is my prayer that the good people of Kwara State will always have the best from any government both at the state and federal levels.
