Have you ever wondered why in most cases, girlfriends and mistresses of some men tend to be more beautiful than their wives? In a study, led by Anthony Little from the University of Stirling and Benedict Jones from the University of Glasgow, it shows that men looking for a quick fling prefer women with more “feminine” facial features. Most men see beautiful women especially if they lack nice personalities as being only useful as girlfriends or mistresses and not as wives. Yes, men do worship beautiful women but they never marry them. From having to deal with hate from fellow females who they feel are not as beautiful as they are, to fighting against insecure men, gorgeous women seem to have all the odds stacked against them. Here are 5 reasons men date but never marry beautiful women: 1. Most men generally fear them. The only men who have courage to hit on them are players. Unfortunately, they only use and dump them. 2. Beautiful women tend to bare it all at a go. Most are good looking from afar but when you take a closer look at them, they are actually far from good. In most cases, their looks don’t last long. Their beauty puts them on a high pedestal, exposing them to tight scrutiny in search of flaws. They throw their weight around, assuming beauty compensates for their shortcomings. 3. Men find such types only good as mistresses. Their reason been that sleeping with beautiful women offers them different skills in bed. When vetted for wife material, most beautiful women fail. These women instill a sense of insecurity in men, which turns them into guard dogs. Considering the rate at which randy men hit on them, their chances of succumbing to temptations and straying tends to be high. 4. Most beautiful women have high maintenance cost, which, in most cases, doesn’t measure up when scrutinised in a cost-benefit analysis. They like expensive gifts and exotic holiday trips but in return offer bad se.x and are horrible cooks. 5. Some are never ready to give birth to more than one child for fear of losing their hour-glass figures. So when it comes to looking for a wife men prefer to explore the hidden potentials of less attractive women. Women who are less attractive are looked down on and get less attention. Unlike their beautiful counterparts who have big egos that require constant massaging. They have compensated for their average looks by developing personalities men find valuable like being great listeners and amazing cooks. tiwasblog.co/2015/24/5-reasons-nigerian-men-date-but-never-marry-beautiful-women/ |

At least 717 people have been killed and nearly 863 others injured in a crush during Hajj pilgrimage rituals outside Mecca. According to Saudi disaster officials, the incident occurred in Mina, near Mecca, at 9 am local time (0600 GMT) after two large masses of pilgrims coming down streets 204 and 223 fused together. The incident took place as people were heading to participate in the symbolic stoning of Satan. Over 220 ambulances and 4,000 rescue workers have reportedly been sent to the location. “Work is underway to separate large groups of people and direct pilgrims to alternative routes,” the Saudi Civil Defense said. Saudi blames pilgrims for tragedy Saudi Arabia's health minister blamed the pilgrims for the deadly incident, saying the tragedy would not have happened if they "had followed instructions." "Many pilgrims move without respecting the timetables" established by authorities, Khaled al- Falih said, adding that this is the "principal reason for this type of accident," El-Ekhbariya television reported. "If the pilgrims had followed instructions, this type of accident could have been avoided," he said. ‘Iranians among the dead’ Meanwhile, Sa’eed Ohadi, the head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, has said that at least 43 Iranians have been killed and 60 others wounded in the crush, according to ISNA. Separately, an Iranian deputy foreign minister has announced that a special commission has been set up by the Islamic Republic to follow up on the case of the Iranian pilgrims in Mina. ‘Saudi authorities responsible’ Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iran’s deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, said the Iranian Embassy in Saudi Arabia, the Consulate and all other relevant organizations are actively working to determine the fate of the Iranian victims of the Thursday incident. Amir-Abdollahian held the Saudi authorities responsible for the deadly incident, and said they should promptly act to manage the crisis. “The imprudence on the part of relevant Saudi authorities to provide security for the pilgrims cannot be overlooked,” he said. Some two million people are currently in Mecca for this year’s Hajj pilgrimage. Some 360 pilgrims lost their lives during the same ritual in Mina back in January 2006 This comes days after a massive construction crane collapsed into Mecca’s Grand Mosque, killing more than 100 people and leaving over 200 others wounded. Separately, on September 21, a fire at a 15-story hotel in Mecca forced the evacuation of some 1,500 people. A fire also broke out at another hotel in the city days earlier, which left a number of foreigners injured. www.presstv.com/Detail/2015/09/24/430513/Saudi-Arabia-stampede |

Almost 10 years after retirement from service, some retired police officers in Cross River State are still begging the authorities of the Nigeria Police Force to pay them their gratuities and monthly pension. The retired officers, who are living in penury, said they had yet to receive any money after undergoing the usual verification more than eight different times since retirement. Frail looking 69-year-old retired Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mr. Udoh Akpan, who spoke with PUNCH Metro in Calabar, said his children had stopped going to school because of lack of money. The retired DSP said he last served at the Cross River State Command headquarters in Calabar, where he retired in 2006 and had done the verification more than seven times without getting paid. Akpan is not the only one with such predicament as his colleagues, James Iyamba and Bassey Ejom, also retired as DSP and Inspector respectively in 2006. According to Akpan, who currently squats in an apartment in Calabar with his five children, there was assurance that he would be paid after the last verification exercise in January 2015. He said, “I have been retired since 2006 and I have always hoped that I will be paid my gratuity and start receiving my monthly pension, but I have not received any. After the last verification in January 2015, I was promised that the money will be paid in a few months’ time but it has not come. I have done the verification more than 10 times. At a time, they said I was disturbing them. “My eldest daughter who is a graduate cannot collect her certificate because I did not pay her school fees. I live with my children in one funny apartment because I do not have anywhere to go to. “I put in my best to serve the force for 35 years and this is what I get. Most of our colleagues are dead without receiving their pension. This is so discouraging.” Another retiree, Ejom, said he last served in Aboh, Delta State, before retiring in 2006, but had yet to receive his gratuity after several verifications. Unlike Akpan, Ejom, who retired as an Inspector, was lucky to have someone that bought a bus for him under hire purchase agreement, which he uses for commercial purposes. “I served the force and retired voluntarily after 30 years. I have seven children and four of them are in the university. I have not received any pension or gratuity since I retired in 2006,” he said. Ejom said another retired cop, James Iyamba, who retired as a DSP in 2006, suffered stroke in 2013 and was paralysed before he died on August 25, 2015. He said, “Iyamba last served in the Asokoro Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Abuja, and had stroke in 2013 which he managed until he was paralysed. He visited Abuja three times to do verification before he died. “There is also another case of Sergeant Ajah Ekpang, F/No 88750, who retired in 2006. He has no pension, no gratuity. There are officers who retired in 2004 and had yet to be attended to.” When contacted over the unpaid retired officers, the Chairman of the Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria in Cross River State, Mr. Bassey Inyang, who retired as a Deputy Commissioner of Police, confirmed that some retirees had not been paid. “By virtue of the pension Act 2004 which took effect in 2006, the Contributory Pension Scheme was introduced. Those that retired from 2006 to 2008 had this problem of payment because they belong to the old scheme called Pension Transition Administration Department. “I am aware that the Federal Government has sent teams to verify the PTAD people and they do it from time to time. But some of the old people have not been paid because of human errors. “After the last verification, there was a new government in place and money has to be approved again. About two people have come to me and I have forwarded that information to our headquarters.” www.punchng.com/metro-plus/10-years-after-retirement-policemen-beg-for-gratuities/

President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to
grant amnesty to Boko Haram fighters on the
condition that they release all the abducted
Chibok schoolgirls.
The President, who is on a three-day visit to
France, said this during an interview w ith Agence
France Pres se on Wednesday.
Buhari told AFP that the Federal Government was
talking to Boko Haram’s prisoners and could offer
them amnesty if the extremist group hands over
more than 200 schoolgirls abducted from their
hostel at the Chibok Government Secondary
School, Chibok, Borno State on April 14, 2014.
He added that he was confident that conventional
attacks by the terrorists would be rooted out by
November but cautioned that deadly suicide
attacks, some of them waged by children, were
likely to continue.
He said, “We are trying to see whether we can
negotiate with the Boko Haram prisoners in our
custody for the release of the Chibok girls.
“If the Boko Haram leadership eventually agrees
to turn over the Chibok girls to us, the complete
number, then we may decide to give them (the
prisoners) amnesty.”
Buhari, who has promised to stamp out the
group’s bloody six-year insurgency, said the
government would not release any prisoners
unless it was convinced it could “get the girls in
reasonably healthy condition.”
But he cautioned that negotiating with Boko
Haram militants was fraught with difficulties.
“We are trying to establish if they are bona fide,
how useful they are in Boko Haram, have they
reached a position of leadership where their
absence is of relevance to the operation of Boko
Haram?” he said.
Buhari said he was confident that the military
would defeat Boko Haram before the end of the
year but expressed pessimism over the possibility
of stopping the terrorists from attacking ‘soft’
targets.
He added, “The main conventional attacks, where
Boko Haram use armoured cars they took from
the Nigerian troops, or mounted machine-guns on
pick-up vehicles and so on, we believe by the end
of the three months, we will see the end of that.
“What may not absolutely stop is the occasional
bombings by the use of improvised explosive
devices.
“We do not expect a 100 per cent stoppage of the
insurgency.”
Meanwhile, the Centre for Crisis Communication,
which is acting as a middleman between the
Federal Government and Boko Haram, says the
terrorists have said they are tired of fighting.
The Executive Secretary for the CCC, Air
Commodore Yusuf Anas (retd.), said this in a
statement on Wednesday.
Anas, who is a former Director of Public Relations
and Information, Nigerian Air Force, said terrorists
sent the CCC a message saying they are tired of
fighting and willing to end the war.
He noted that none of the suspected Boko Haram
elements that spoke with the CCC asked for any
form of monetary inducement or compensation
as a pre-condition for laying down their arms.
“In fact, many of them said that they were simply
tired of fighting and being fugitives in a war that
they were deceived into joining,” he said.
Buhari had said on Tuesday that the Federal
Government had begun negotiations with
members of the Boko Haram sect to secure the
release of the Chibok girls.
The President said one of the conditions given by
the terrorists was to release one of its members
who was developing Improvised Explosives
Devices. He, however, said that his government
rejected the demand. www.punchng.com/news/buhari-to-bharam-release-chibok-girls-get-amnesty/ |

(CNN)— A crane collapsed Friday evening at one of Islam 's most important mosques -- Mecca's Masjid al-Haram, or Grand Mosque -- killing at least 87 people and injuring 187 others, Saudi Arabia's civil defense authorities said Friday on Twitter. Severe storms and heavy rain caused the crane to fall, the directorate of the Saudi Civil Defense said via Twitter. The Masjid al-Haram surrounds Islam's holiest site, the Kaaba -- a shrine that worshipers visit during the Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. Approximately 2 million people a year make the pilgrimage, which this year is due to begin around September 21. A strong thunderstorm popped up over Mecca about 4 p.m. local time Friday (9 a.m. ET), bringing gusty winds which shifted direction and caused the local temperature to drop from 42 to 25 degrees Celsius (107.6 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit.), CNN meteorologists reported. Video shot at a distance from the collapse appeared to show debris and blood on the ground where the crane fell. Another picture from the site showed what appeared to part of a crane on a floor, with debris strewn around it. Khaled Al-Maeena, editor at large at the Saudi Gazette in Jeddah, said the incident happened during a strong thunderstorm. "The scene is of shock ... and people are wondering what happened," he said. "Many of the (Hajj pilgrims) go to Medina first. If this was one or two days before the actual Hajj ... I would have expected that the death toll and the injured and the casualties would have been much higher," Al Maeena said. edition.cnn.com/2015/09/11/middleeast/saudi-arabia-mecca-crane-collapse/ |
