In case you weren’t aware, soccer happens to be the most popular sport in the world. It might surprise you, but it’s true. And as a result of this fact, the best players alive reap major rewards. As if you needed another reason to be jealous of professional, athletes, now you’re about to see how well it pays to be a professional footballer. Goal.com recently released their annual “Goal Rich List,” and it provides a detailed look at which players make the most amount of money, and where their wealth comes from. This list takes into consideration salaries, endorsement deals, and any form of investment portfolios that a player might have as well. So take a seat if you must because this is going to sting. Here’s a look at the top five wealthiest soccer players on the planet. 5. Wayne Rooney Total wealth: $116 million Wayne Rooney plays strike for both the English National Team and Manchester United, and is the wealthiest player in the English Premier League. Known for his strength on the field, Rooney has evolved into more than just goal scorer, which is why Man U rewarded him with a new$104 million contract in 2014. On top of that, the deal is reportedly worth £300,000 a week. 4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic Total wealth: $118 million Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a superstar forward who plays for Paris Saint-Germain in the French Ligue 1. Although a hefty salary from his club team factors into his net worth, much of Ibrahimovic’s money comes from endorsement deals and smart investments. According to Goal, he has sponsorship deals with Nivea, Xbox, Volvo, and Dressman, and his investments include owning a substantial amount of property. It appears that Ibrahimovic is much more than a human highlight reel. 3. Neymar Total wealth: $152 million Neymar is the face of Brazilian soccer and one of the main cogs on a very talented FC Barcelona team. His skills with the ball, and flair for excellence on the pitch, have made him one of the most popular players in the sport. His annual salary, which stands at €8.8 million a year, is small potatoes compared to his overwhelming endorsement deals, that include agreements with the likes of Nike, Panasonic, Volkswagen, Red Bull, and many more. That’s not a bad haul for being only 23 years old. 2. Lionel Messi Total wealth: $225 million Lionel Messi is not only a magician on the soccer field, but he’s a businessman of it. His lucrative contract with Barcelona pays him $50 million a year and he has tons of endorsement deals on his plate — he works with brands such as Adidas, Samsung, Gillette, Gatorade, and Dolce & Gabbana. Messi is arguably one of the two-best soccer players in the world, and if he keeps winning Ballon d’Or awards (he’s won four times), which is given to FIFA World Player of the Year, he’ll be sure to continue to increase his overall wealth. 1. Cristiano Ronaldo Total wealth: $236 million It should come as no surprise that Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo tops this list. For anyone who follows the sport, Ronaldo is the absolute best of the best. He scores goals, dribbles with speed and force, and has sensational ball control. His deal with Real Madrid pays him a whopping €18.2 million per year, and that number doesn’t include bonuses. He also crushes it on the endorsement front, has his own clothing line (CR7), and owns a very profitable property portfolio. Plus, people seem to find him easy on the eyes, so he’s got that going for him as well. It pays to be Cristiano Ronaldo. copied from Yahoo.com |
In-coming Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh
has said he is comfortable to be paid the same
salary N5million (more than $21,000) a month
his predecessor Stephen Keshi earned.
Oliseh is due
to fly into
Abuja on
Tuesday
evening and
hours later
meet with the
NFF technical
committee
headed by
Felix Anyansi-
Agwu.
“Oliseh is
ready to earn the same pay Keshi was on. This
again shows he is ready to serve his fatherland
and money is not what is driving him.
This is another good sign with the decision to
give him the job without much fanfare,” a top
official said.
The NFF have confirmed Oliseh, 40, will
replace Keshi and he will be handed a five-year
contract. www.vanguardngr.com/2015/07/eagles-job-oliseh-wants-n60m-per-annum/ |
President Muhammadu Buhari has resisted
fresh moves by the Senate President, Senator
Bukola Saraki, to formally meet with him,
SUNDAY PUNCH has learnt.
An official in the Presidency who confided in
one of our correspondents on Saturday said
the President and the Senate President had
only met once since the latter’s emergence
as the leader of the senate.
The official said all efforts by Saraki to have
another meeting with the president, after the
party’s National Executive Council meeting
penultimate Friday, were rebuffed by Buhari.
The reliable source said the president of the
Senate had at different times reached out to
people to help him persuade Buhari to grant
him audience.
Saraki had defied the All Progressives
Congress to contest for the position of the
senate president on June and emerged
victorious after a controversial election that
excluded a sizeable number of senators. The
APC had endorsed Senator Ahmed Lawan as
its candidate for the senate presidency.
The government official who spoke to
SUNDAY PUNCH said, “The truth is that the
President is still displeased with what
transpired in the National Assembly,
especially the Senate.
“Their encounter during the APC National
Executive Council meeting, when they shook
hands, was the first meeting between
President Buhari and Saraki since he
emerged as the President of the Senate.
“We are aware that Saraki has been going
about begging people to assist him to plead
with the President to meet with him. That
was one of the reasons why he visited
former President Obasanjo.
“I can tell you that the President is very
pained by what happened. He felt that since
he had been transparent with the party,
everybody should play that way. But since
Saraki took that path, the President was and
he is still pained. Let us just hope that at the
end of it all, they will be able to put the
matter behind them.”
Also speaking to SUNDAY PUNCH, a highly
placed party official, who spoke on condition
of anonymity because of the sensitivity of
the issue, told one of our correspondents
that the handshake between the President
and Saraki during the recent NEC meeting of
the APC “was for journalists.”
He stated, “President Buhari is still upset
because of what happened. If you read in-
between the line his speech during our last
NEC meeting, he reminded people who joined
the party after it was formed not to rubbish
the sacrifices made by party leaders.
“It was not for the fun of it that the President
took time to go down the memory lane to
trace the genesis of the APC.
“Although the President said he was prepared
to work with anybody who emerged as
leader in the National Assembly, he did not
envisage a scenario where Saraki would
emerge as the Senate President and Ike
Ekweremadu, a member of the PDP, would
emerge as the deputy president of the
Senate.”
Asked whether or not the President might
change his mind anytime soon, the source
said, “Not until the governors, who were
mandated by the NEC to resolve the matter
in the National Assembly, bring the matter
under control.”
When contacted, the Special Adviser to the
Senate President on Media and Publicity, Mr.
Yusuph Olaniyonu, said there was no cause
for alarm. During a telephone interview on
Saturday, Olaniyonu said Buhari had
repeatedly told Nigerians that he believed in
the independence of the parliament.
He explained that Buhari had had cause to
formally communicate with on “state issues”
and that they exchanged warm pleasantries
at the APC NEC meeting held in Abuja.
He said, “The president of a nation can have
private discussions with the Senate President
or the Speaker of the House of
Representatives anytime he likes.
“At the moment, President Buhari, probably
wants the issue around the National
Assembly leadership positions formally
resolved before calling for such meetings. He
has said that he would not involve himself in
the affairs of the legislature and we should
respect his views.”
Olaniyonu explained that Saraki and Buhari
had been having regular official
communication and that such would
continue because the Senate would have to
approve all appointments made by the
President.
Asked why the President had met with the
Speaker of the House of Representatives,
Yakubu Dogara, without meeting with Saraki
up till now, Olaniyonu answered that he was
not aware of the Buhari-Dogara meeting.
He said, “I am not aware of that meeting you
talked about. If the meeting had held, the
picture taken afterwards would have been
published in the dailies. To the best of my
knowledge, I don’t think there was anything
like that. “
Also, the spokesperson for the pro-Saraki
Senators of Like Minds, Dino Melaye, told
one of our correspondents on Saturday that
Saraki and Buhari met and had fruitful
deliberation at the NEC meeting of the APC.
“The President and the Senate President met
at the NEC meeting. We are all awaiting the
outcome of the peace moves initiated at the
meeting. For now, there is no cause for
concern,” he said.

VIENNA (AP) — The Iran nuclear talks shifted Friday to a blame game, as Iran's foreign minister accused the United States of shifting its demands and dismissed a warning that the U.S. was ready to quit the negotiations. Hours after his comments, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met again with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry for another attempt at resolving the differences standing in the way a landmark deal that offers Iran sanctions relief in exchange for long-term, verifiable curbs on nuclear programs that Tehran could use to make weapons. Still, the sense of drift grew, along with expectations that the talks could continue through the weekend. A senior U.S. official said the preliminary April deal that set up the present negotiations had been extended until Monday. That effectively set a fourth target date for a final accord that initially was supposed to be sealed by June 30. The tougher rhetoric Friday mirrored the frustrations by the sides as the current round of talks entered its 14th day. After blowing past two extensions, negotiators had hoped to wrap up the talks by Friday, but Zarif's comments cast doubts that agreement was near. The sides had hoped to seal a deal before the end of Thursday in Washington to avoid delays in implementing their promises. By missing that target, the U.S. and Iran now have to wait for a 60-day congressional review period during which President Barack Obama cannot waive sanctions on Iran. Had they reached a deal by then, the review would have been only 30 days. Iran is unlikely to begin a substantial rollback of its nuclear program until it gets sanctions relief in return. "If you drive the talks into a dead end then it will be you who will be committing a strategic mistake," Iran's parliamentary speaker Ali Larijani said at Friday prayers following the rally in Tehran, addressing the U.S. "And its outcome will not benefit you since Iran's nuclear staff are ready to accelerate nuclear technology at a higher speed than before." The talks are formally between Iran and six world powers but have devolved into U.S.-Iranian negotiations over recent months, with diplomats saying the other nations were ready to accept terms agreed to by Tehran and Washington. Zarif's critical comments were thus seen as mostly directed against Washington. Still, disagreements also have surfaced recently between the U.S. and Russia. Moscow supports Iranian demands for at least a partial lifting of the conventional arms embargo as part of any deal. That's something Washington opposes — and an issue Zarif appeared to touch on in his comments to Iranian state television. Beyond "witnessing a change of stances" from the other side, Zarif noted a "different stand" on some issues among the six nations. "This situation has made the work difficult," he said. Kerry had warned Thursday the Americans were ready to leave the talks, declaring "we can't wait forever for a decision to be made." Zarif, in contrast, said his side was ready to stay and work for a "dignified and balanced deal." Foreign ministers or top deputies of all seven nations are expected to join the talks before any impending deal. But while Germany's foreign minister remains in Vienna, the Russians and Chinese left days ago, and their French and British counterparts followed Friday, reflecting the lack of substantial advances. British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond spoke of "painfully slow" progress, telling reporters ministers planned to re-group Saturday "to see if we can get over the last hurdles." Even jokes meant to dispel tensions reflected the raw nerves after two weeks straight at the negotiating table. "We're pushing," said Kerry when asked if there would be a deal this weekend. "Off the balcony," quipped Federica Mogherini, the top EU diplomat convening the talks, prompting a smile from Kerry and an admonitory wag of a finger. The scope of access to U.N. inspectors monitoring Iran's nuclear program remains one of th |

Last month, the North Korean capital of Pyongyang opened the doors to the country's newest airport terminal: Pyongyang Sunan International Airport. The new international terminal will replaced the airport's old terminal facility, which dates back to the early days of the Cold War. So far, details surrounding the facility, called "Terminal 2," are few. However, North Korea's state-owned media agency released a series of photos of the new facility.[img][/img]

Here are 7 behaviors your children, and mine, will learn from us. 1. How you treat their mother. If you are kind, sharing, giving, supportive, caring, and treat your wife with respect and dignity, your children will treat your wife with respect and dignity. But if you’re degrading, belligerent, frustrated, or rude to her, you can bet your children will treat her the same way. 2. How you manage your money. If you are in debt up to your ears, or spend money frivolously, your children will spend money frivolously, and they will carry that trait into their adult years. They will copy the same lack of responsibility they saw in you. They too will live in debt. But if you exercise wisdom, stick to a budget, save and plan, they will do the same. 3. How you treat other people. If you are always using people for your own gains, or constantly belittling or mistreating people you come into contact with, so will your children. If you treat the waitress or the bank teller like dirt, they will devalue people the same way. But if your approach to other people, especially those who are performing a service like waitressing, is kind and respectful, your children will follow suit. 4. The amount of respect you give to authority. If you are rude to a police officer who pulls you over, or always rant and rave about how awful your boss is, your children will grow up with a lack of respect for the authority figures in their life. That includes you! But to hear you talking about your boss with kindness and respect, even when they might not deserve it, shapes their tiny view of authority in a very positive way. 5. The depth of character and integrity you display. They know if you cheat. They know if you say one thing and then do another. They are listening to the way you talk about people you encounter in public, or the frustrating neighbor who gets under your skin. When you face a crisis or unfair accusations they are taking note of how you respond. The level of character or integrity you choose to live by, or not live by, goes a long way in determining how your children will choose to live. 6. The measure of discipline you live your life by. If you overeat, overspend, sleep too much, get behind on your bills, drink too much, let the house go, always take short-cuts, or make excuses for poor choices, guess what? So will your children! However, if you choose to live a disciplined life, your children will make better (and healthier) choices with their lives! 7. How generous you are. If tithing to your church, giving to a charity, or supporting a cause isn’t high on your list, it won’t be on your children’s either. If you choose not to serve, your children will too. If you sign up for a good cause and then slack off when you’re participating and choose not to give a strong effort, they will see that, and do the same. But if they witness a person who lives with a giving spirit, always reaches out to those with the least, and gives from a full heart, they will emulate that behavior and become people who give, love, and serve with full hearts! - This is a convicting list to write. If you’re cringing at some of these, you’re not alone. I’m cringing at a few as well. It’s time to get to work. My heart’s desire is to raise children who become healthy, productive, people of strong character and integrity. I will not end up at that result by happenstance. I have to be proactive and move that direction with my own behavior, as an adult, before I can expect my children to move in that direction with theirs. How about you? —– |

Girl Things Every Guy should Know about
Being a guy, you must be familiar with the
thought process of guys or the way they
think. Even though you have spent a
substantial amount of time with girls, you
do not seem to understand them fully
well. It is very important to understand a
girl if you are not interested in her. There
are certain traits and attributes that are
common in girls. If you figure them out
you will find it easier to communicate with
them and understand them. What kind of guys do they like? Most of us tend to believe that girls are more attracted towards bad boys. They would, any day, choose a biker stud with an attitude over a simple and sweet fellow. That is not entirely true. Different girls have different choices and thus, it would be not right to assume that they have just one type or are interested in similar kind of guys. There are some girls who take a liking to the bad guys and there are some who prefer a warm and nice guy. Then, there are other kinds as well. Every person is unique and has a personality that is different from the rest. There is no reason why you should feel insecure or incompetent about yourself. You should be confident of your abilities and should project yourself the way you are. The one thing that every girl looks for in a guy is genuineness. If you fake it or pit up a facade, they will get to know of it. The girl whom you are so fond of might not like you. That does not mean you will change yourself to impress her. You cannot lose yourself to be with someone. And, nobody wants you to do that either. You must remember there are all kinds of girls around. Hence, you must look for someone who would love you and appreciate you for what you are. Do not get disheartened if you face rejection. There is someone made for everyone. You just need to find her. Inferiority complex A lot of guys suffer from inferiority complex, more so when they feel that the girl they like is way out of their league. You must have often heard people saying that there must be equality between two people who get into a relationship. They must have the same status in society and what not. While a lot of people give importance to these things, a lot of young people do not. They have a broader outlook towards life and do not judge a person because of his wealth, status, looks etc. In the present times, the lines that divide people belonging to different social or financial groups has blurred. The young generation does not follow outdated beliefs and ideas. Do not get conscious or think yourself to be inferior if the girl you like is wealthier or more attractive than you. These things do not matter. The connect that you have with a someone is all that matters. You should fall in love with someone for the right reasons. Yes, some do get drawn towards people because of their status, wealth or personality but a relationship is not built on these things. Once the attraction phase gets over, your nature is what holds the relationship together. A relationship is built on trust, faith and honesty. A girl expects her guy to be loyal and committed to her. If you truly love the girl, you should also have the courage to confess it to her. Do not get daunted by the fear of rejection. Whatever has to happen will happen but you have to give it a try. It is important that you let her know that you are interested in her. If she does not know you are interested or if she does not find you enthusiastic enough to take things forward, she would not want to talk to you. Understanding them It is a myth that girls are difficult to understand. An individual can be complicated or simple regardless of his/ her gender. To assume that every guy or girl is complicated or simple would be silly. No two human beings can be completely similar. You should not jump to conclusions before taking some time to know someone well. Even if a girl seems complicated and difficult to figure out, you must try to unravel the mysteries surrounding them. Come to think of it, if she would be that easy to figure out, you would probably not be interested in her. It may take a lot of time and effort to understand her but it will be worth it. Before you date a girl, it is important to have a good understanding of the way the mind of a girl functions. Having a deeper insight into their thoughts always helps. |
Japan Japan's dance ban has been on the books since the 1940s, when nightclubs operating in the country's postwar haze turned into hotbeds for prostitution. Since then, it's gone through phases of intensity. In the late 20th century, the police often turned a blind eye to dancing after midnight (illegal under the law), and dance clubs without licenses (equally illegit). Of late, celebrity drug scandals and youth violence have led to numerous late-night raids, as the law has surged back into enforcement. Luckily for Japan's rug-cutters, the upcoming 2020 Olympics in Tokyo have the government scrambling to prove the country is a fun place to be. (A move reminiscent to when R. Kelly wrote that song about all the mysterious haters who thought he'd never sing again, in the process introducing an idea we'd never entertained in the first place.) No matter; a petition with thousands of signatures led to the historic decision last month to repeal the dreaded dance ban. So ... Japan is fun, guys! Believe the hype! 2 Kuwait Garth Algar and Wayne Campbell need not apply for Kuwait visas. The Arab country takes a strict view toward dancing in public, with detailed rules when it comes to concert behavior in particular. Forget head- banging -- barely any movement is allowed at a show, beyond clapping one's hands and swaying. Critics say the law is a symptom of the tightening grip of hardline Islamism, unreflective of the country's past. The most prominent of them, a member of Kuwait's parliament, Nabil al-Fadhl, is currently fighting to legalize the sale of alcohol in the country as well. Because nothing fuels concert moves better than booze. 3 Afghanistan Afghanistan's relationship with dance wasn't always so troubled. Historians believe that as early as 2000 B.C., Pashtun tribespeople were dancing what would come to be known as the attan , a close cousin to north India's garba raas , full of rhythmic drum work and spinning dresses. The whirling dervishes made famous by Sufi practitioners also owe their heritage to the landlocked region -- the famous 13th- century Persian poet Rumi, composer of so many of the verses dervishes spin to even today, was born in Balkh, now a part of modern-day Afghanistan. But in recent times, the only news to do with dance in the country is horrific. In 2012, Taliban insurgents beheaded 17 revelers at a party in southern Afganistan, due to the fact -- said one government official -- that they were listening to music and dancing. Elsewhere, young boys are entrapped in the custom of bacha bazi -- literally "boy for play" -- made to dance at private parties for men who've taken the young performers from often abusive homes. In a country where dance could surely be therapeutic, the art form's current state is just one more tragedy. 4 Iran Iran's views on dance became more notorious last year with the release of " Desert Dancer," a biopic dramatizing the life of the Iranian dancer Afshin Ghaffarian, and co-starring Freida Pinto (in the sweet black outfit above). Ghaffarian's story is a dramatic vessel to tell the larger one of the law, which disallows women from dancing in public, co-ed dancing, and flesh-baring costumes. The restrictions are at odds with Iran's recent history as a cultural center, home not so long ago to the Middle East's most celebrated ballet company . The tide changed in the 1970s with the Iranian revolution; now experimental dancers are lucky if they can escape as Ghaffarian did. The Iranian national fled to Europe where he tours today -- but in interviews , he says he hopes someday to be allowed back home. 5 Germany Not that Europe is all fun and games. For decades, towns across Germany have done their best Bomont, Oklahoma, impressions every Easter weekend. A much-debated nationwide law prohibits dance out of respect for the holiday's religious significance, and while states exercise the ban differently, all 16 of Germany's states follow it to some degree -- with some prohibiting public displays of music as well. Even Berlin, home of das famous cl ü blyfe , cracks down. For a law so at odds with the popular image of the country's wild side, it's perhaps inevitable that it's spawned an "SNL"-worthy counter movement. A group called the Pirate Party attempts to topple the legislation each year -- protesting by dancing , naturally. Sweden In the otherwise progressive haven of Sweden, public dancing is prohibited no matter the season. Bars, clubs and restaurants require a license to enable patrons to dance -- an activity officials insist leads to chaos . Even " moving your feet to music " is considered illegal, according to the Daily Mail. As in Germany, the ban is considered more an anachronism than a true threat to would- be dancers. No surprise, Sweden's got its own version of the Pirate Party, only their " dance demonstrations" go year- round. us.newscodex.com/six-countries-where-its-illegal-to-dance-c9be4cfb4be748c19cc899d556b2bcc3 |
Osogbo—SCORES of Osun State citizens were yesterday said to be warming up towards participating in today’s rally in support of Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s impeachment, according to the organisers, Civil Societies’ Coalition for Emancipation of Osun State, CSCEO. According to the group at a press briefing held in Osogbo yesterday, over 20 civil and faith based societies who are members of CSCEO are already mobilising their members towards the mass rally. The group’s Chairman, Comrade Adeniyi Sulaiman Alimi, gave the names of association ready for the rally as The Voices, KIMPACT, Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice, Grassroot Democratic Network, Christian Initiative for Nation Building, Christian Leadership Mobilisation and Better Future Initiative. Aregbosola Others are Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP), Justice, Development and Peace Commission Movement (JDPCM), Positive Movement, Good Governance Support Group, Democratic Socialist Movement and Conference of National Political Parties (CNPP). Alimi explained that over three petitions including the one sent by a state serving judge, Justice Folaranmi Oloyede, calling for Aregbesola’s probe and impeachment are presently before members of the state House of Assembly and the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC). Hold Omisore, PDP responsible – APC Meantime, the All Progressives Congress in the state has called on security agencies to hold the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Iyiola Omisore and his party responsible for any breach of the peace in the state. The party, in a statement by the Directorate of Publicity, Research and Strategy yesterday said it was aware of plans by a group of profiteers who were being sponsored by Omisore and his party to unleash violence on the state, using the issue of workers’ salaries as camouflage. ‘’ Specifically we must alert the whole world to a threat issued by Omisore on June 14 this year at the secretariat of the PDP in Osogbo where he promised members of his party that he was prepared to make this state ungovernable for Governor Rauf Aregesola. ‘’ We are therefore certain that the crisis being orchestrated in the state is to get what the people of Osun denied him through a democratic process on August 9, 2014. This was his resolution after the Supreme Court decision which finally sealed his ambition through a pronouncement on May 27, this year. ‘’ We are using this medium to inform the public and the media to be wary of activities of this set of opportunists who are the real profiteers behind the undeserved focus on Osun among the more than 20 states that are currently facing salary challenges. ‘’ The APC government under Aregbesola in Osun has been having very fruitful negotiations with the labour and we can therefore say without any contradiction that the labour has no hand in this proposed protest.’’ APC, sinking govt passing buck – PDP The PDP in response said; “PDP observe with disillusion the allegation by Aregbesola and his paid agents that Otunba Iyiola Omisore and PDP are sponsoring workers to protest unpaid salaries.’’ A statement by the PDP spokesperson in Osun state, Prince Diran Odeyemi added, “It is unfortunate that the sinking government still be engaging in buck passing when he should be busy looking for money to settle unpaid salaries and allowances of workers. “In the last one week, we have not issued any statement because we observe workers are rising to the occasion to fight for their rights. “We are not involved as a party, Omisore is not involved and will never be party to any act of lawlessness but we demand from the governor to explain if he has paid these workers. “Have they been paid their salaries? If no, whatever the steps they take inasmuch as such is within the ambit of the law, nothing can stop workers from demanding for their rights |
Moving in with your girlfriend may happen at some point. And while living with the one you love is a great thing, there’s an unavoidable adjustment period when things can get dicey. Your apartment is no longer your masturbatory playground. You must relearn things like holding in farts at dinner or actually placing video games back into their cases instead of constructing a wobbly, dusty Jenga tower of scratched discs. But for those of us who grew up with sisters, this adjustment period can be a breeze! Having lived with women for years, we have a head start on cohabitating with the opposite sex. Here’s how your sisters unwittingly prepared you to live with your current or future girlfriend: 1. You’re used to hair monsters While men may be destined to lose their hair over the years, it’s women’s long locks that gather all over the house. They clump together and transform into tumbleweeds of organic matter and drain-clogging detritus. After sharing a bathroom with your sisters for so many years, you’re accustomed to using your toes like a chimp to remove the spiral of hair blocking the shower drain. You’re seasoned in the art of fashioning a wire hanger into a hook to scoop out hairy sludge from the sink pipes. When you open a door and see something dark and furry moving in the corner, you won’t freak out and think it’s a mouse — you know that it’s a hair bunny gently blowing in the breeze. That being said, nothing can prepare you for the moment when you’re showering and you find a strand of your girlfriend’s in your butt crack. 2. You’re not freaked out by period stuff Tampons, pads, Midol, these things were everywhere in your house. Sometimes you even had to buy some for sis when you were running errands. Now you stride through the feminine product aisle confidently. You know the brands and the types. At home, you see a tampon in the garbage and it doesn’t even register. We’re all just flesh and blood, and because you know that, your girl will think you’re some super-evolved species of man. 3. You know how to argue without going overboard Clashing with your sisters was a delicate dance. It took years, but eventually you learned just how far you could take an argument or prank before it crossed over into “she’s crying and I have to hurry up and defuse the situation before Mom and Dad find out” territory. This Spidey sense developed over the years and now keeps you far away from that tipping point. 4. You’ve already heard girls fart Sorry to out my sisters, but let’s just say the wind breaks for all. 5 You’re immune to the smell of nail polish Whether it’s because you’re used to it or the odor has singed away your nasal receptors, you can easily sit through your gal’s primping session on the couch. This allows you to offer up side comments like “Oh yes, what a rich shade that is.” 6. You know how to shave with a women’s razor It sounds ridiculous, but this is a useful skill. Let’s say you have to shave for work, but you forgot to buy razors, so you grab one of your girl’s. If you had sisters, then you’ve run into this scenario and know that women’s razors catch the hairs at a totally different angle. You know how to adjust for this. But if you’re a noob, you’ll come out of that shave session all bloody and bumpy. 7. You remember to double- check that the straightening/curling iron is unplugged Every morning you witnessed the superhuman flurry of activity that was your sisters getting ready for school. As you ate your Lucky Charms in a daze, they were whirring through closets, dressers and the bathroom like Sonic the Hedgehog. In the aftermath, the hair iron was always left plugged in. Since you were likely the last in line for bathroom privileges, you were also the last line of defense to prevent the house from burning down. So when your girlfriend finishes the morning rush to work, you’ll be her lucky charm — ready to unplug. 8. You put the toilet seat down Not everything is hair related, I swear. For instance, you’ve developed a Pavlovian response to put the toilet seat down each time you pee after years of getting yelled at for leaving it up. This means your lady will never have to see your drips and curlies on the rim, and it saves you from a nightly verbal smackdown. www.mtv.com/news/2119940/growing-up-sisters-prepare-live-girlfriend/ |
