Any Israeli aggression against Iran, whether in the form of military action or cyber-attacks, would be “an enormous mistake,” US Secretary of State John Kerry said in an interview.
Following the nuclear deal with Iran that was reached last week, Kerry was asked in a Friday interview on the NBC "Today" show, whether that development could incite Israeli to attempt attacking Tehran.

"That'd be an enormous mistake, a huge mistake with grave consequences for Israel and for the region, and I don't think it's necessary," Kerry answered.

US Secretary of State shared his views on the deal itself, saying that the US had no better option.

"The alternative is to have no inspectors, not know what Iran is doing, go back to where they are today with the ability to make the bomb," Kerry said. "And then you're going to hear everybody say, 'Uh oh, we've got to go bomb them now."

“People forget, when President Obama came into office and when I became Secretary of State, Iran already had in the tens of thousands of centrifuges. They already had fissile material, enough for 10 to 12 bombs,” he added. “What we've done is roll that program back and provide a capacity to have inspectors going forward so we will know what Iran is doing."

Kerry also commented on the 24 day-long time period given to Iran before inspectors’ checks of the suspicious sites.

"This is nuclear material. It radiates...This is not something that you can flush down the toilet. It's not possible," he said.

However, Kerry pointed out that the agreement over nuclear weapons was not built upon mutual trust.

"There is no trust — no, no, no. This is not based on trust," he said. "That's what's important to understand. Everything in this agreement is verifiable. It is a process by which we will know what they're doing."

On Friday, Kerry also discussed the Iran nuclear deal at the Council on Foreign Relations, a US think tank organization.

“I am absolutely convinced, totally, that the threat of other countries is greater if you don’t have the deal than if you do. And the reason for that is very simple: if we don’t have this deal and Iran goes back to enriching which they’ve said they’re going to do and there are no inspections and we don’t know what is happening, the pressure that existed … will melt,” Kerry said.
On Thursday, Kerry met with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to speak on the nuclear deal. He called on its members not to believe in some “sort of unicorn arrangement involving Iran’s complete capitulation.”

The deadline for the US Congress to vote on the deal is September 17.

The agreement was reached in Vienna between Iran and six world powers last Tuesday. It secures the lifting of economic sanctions in exchange for Iran agreeing to a 15-year moratorium on enriching uranium beyond 3.67 percent and to let International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors to the nuclear sites.

The announcement of the deal details has recently triggered furious responses of senior Israeli diplomats, who were concerned with the credibility of the inspections, Arutz Sheva reported.

Israel is believed to have masterminded several cyber strikes aimed at stopping the Iranian nuclear program, such as the 2010 “Stuxnet” virus that sabotaged Iranian facilities. In May 2012, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon alluded to the possibility of Israel’s contribution to the "Flame" malware, which is considered to be the successor to Stuxnet.

The Pentagon has confirmed that it has
lost a $21-million drone in an Iraqi
desert after photos of the crashed UAV
surfaced on social media.
The MC-1Q Gray Eagle drone crashed
near the government-controlled city of
Samawah in southern Iraq on July 16,
Defense Department spokesman Army
Major Roger Cabiness said in a
statement.
The unmanned aircraft was returning
from a surveillance mission when
“technical complications" caused a loss
of communication, he added. " There were no weapons on board the
aircraft. We are working with Iraqi
authorities to recover the aircraft, "
Cabiness is cited as saying by the Hill.
The crash appears to have caused
some excitement at the scene. Locals
rushed to the site and Iraqi activist
Steven Nabil even posted several selfies
with the drone.
The UAV, valued between $21-31
million, was found by a shepherd,
according to General Yahya Al-Zubaidi,
spokesman for the Joint Operation
Command.
"I talked to US advisers and they
confirmed that they lost a drone two
weeks ago. The shepherd called the police
and a unit from the Samawa Police
Directorate arrived at the location and
they took it to the Al-Mamlaha police
station,” Al-Zubaidi said, as cited by NBC
News. Intelligence-gathering and armed drones
have been deployed by the US in Iraq
and Syria in order to participate in the
US-led air strikes against the Islamic
State.
It’s the third drone the Pentagon has
lost in recent in months as technical
problems caused the crash of a military
UAV in Iraq in May, while another was
shot down in Syria in March.

OWERRI—The leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazurike, said that neither the United Nations nor the African Union, has invited the protagonists of Biafra to any of their meetings.
Chief Uwazuruike, who debunked the rumour making the rounds in Igboland while fielding questions from newsmen in Owerri, also revealed that the two bodies said they only invite member nations.
“I sent the Bill of Rights to the United Nations in 1999, when I started the struggle. Up till now, the United Nations, UN, and African Union, AU, have not invited Biafra as erroneously peddled by interest groups”, Uwazuruike said.
The MASSOB leader advised Ndigbo to stop begging for survival in the Nigerian project, stressing that the Igbo fought the bitter war in self defence, when the decimation of their numbers reached alarming proportion.
“Events have continued to show that Ndigbo are not wanted in Nigeria. Igbo should desist from being selfish and sycophants. We should think of the way forward for Ndigbo before personal interests”, Chief Uwazurike pleaded.
Answering a question, the MASSOB leader said that the actualization of Biafra was certain, pointing out that revolutions take time but never fails.

PoliticsWhy I Won’t Form Cabinet Until September –buhari by Giyerte(op): 7:35am On Jul 21, 2015
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday said it would neither be prudent nor serve the interests of sound government for him to have formed his cabinet immediately he was inaugurated on May 29.

He said it was necessary for the country to first put new rules of conduct and good governance in place before he could make critical appointments into his government.

Buhari made the clarification in his article titled, “Nigeria committed to good governance and fighting terror”, published by the Washington Post ahead of his historic meeting with President Barack Obama of United States.

He said it was noteworthy that Obama himself did not have his full cabinet in place for several months after first taking office.

He said despite that delay, the US did not cease to function in the interim.

He said, “As I meet with President Obama today (Monday) the first time a President of the United States will encounter a Nigerian counterpart following the peaceful transfer of power in a contested election in our history — I will be discussing my plans for critical reforms.

“So, too, will I discuss why the formation of my administration is taking time and, crucially, why it must. Already, there are voices saying these changes are taking too long — even though only six weeks have passed since my inauguration. I hear such calls, but this task cannot and should not be rushed.

“When cabinet ministers are appointed in September, it will be some months after I took the oath of office. It is worth noting that Obama himself did not have his full Cabinet in place for several months after first taking office; the United States did not cease to function in the interim.

“In Nigeria’s case, it would neither be prudent nor serve the interests of sound government to have made these appointments immediately on my elevation to the presidency; instead, Nigeria must first put new rules of conduct and good governance in place.

“I cannot stress how important it is to ensure that this process is carried out correctly, just as it has been crucial to first install the correct leadership of the military and security services before we fully take the fight to Boko Haram.”

Buhari said there were too few examples in the history of Nigeria since independence where it can be said that good management and governance were instituted at national level.

He said the lack of a governance framework had allowed many of those in charge, devoid of any real checks and balances, to plunder.

The President said the fact that he now seeks Obama’s assistance in locating and returning $150bn stolen in the past decade and held in foreign bank accounts on behalf of former, corrupt officials was a testament to how badly Nigeria has been run.

This way of conducting the nation’s affairs, he said, cannot continue.

He also argued that failure of governance has been as much a factor in Nigeria’s inability thus far to defeat Boko Haram, as have been issues with the military campaign itself.

“So, the path we must take is simple, even if it is not easy: First, instil rules and good governance. Second, install officials who are experienced and capable of managing state agencies and ministries. And third, seek to recover funds stolen under previous regimes so that this money can be invested in Nigeria for the benefit of all of our citizens.

“We seek the support and partnership of the United States in these tasks. The importance of the fight against terrorism and corruption in Nigeria, Africa’s most powerful economy and largest populace, cannot be underestimated.

“Our allies can provide much-needed military training and intelligence as our soldiers take the war effort to Boko Haram. Similarly, we look to US businesses as well as the Obama administration to help develop governance initiatives that can ensure that Nigeria’s wealth benefits all its people, not just a few.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has said that there is nothing ‘personal’ between him and former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
The Edo State Governor in a statement signed by Kassim Afegbua, Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, to the governor, on Thursday said the questions asked were: how come those accruals into the Excess Crude Account got depleted without the knowledge of the National Economic Council?
Tea full text below
BLACKMAIL WON’T HELP YOUR CASE, OSHIOMHOLE TELLS OKONJO-IWEALA
It is instructive at this point in time to state categorically without equivocation that there is nothing “personal” between Okonjo-Iweala and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole in terms of the request by the Edo Governor that Okonjo-Iweala should come clean on the issue of revenue that accrued to the Excess Crude Account.
As much as her Spokesman tries to dramatize his response in defense of his boss, he has shown a manifest uninformed disposition to issues of simple economics of naira and kobo.
Here is a former Minister who has changed her position four times in the last forty days; each position exposing her dubiety of facts and inherent contradictions in the concocted tales she has been weaving on one simple issue: what happened to t5he $2.1b ECA funds?
PERTINENT QUESTIONS.
The simple questions which the Comrade Governor asked were: how come those accruals into the Excess Crude Account got depleted without the knowledge of the National Economic Council?

Okonjo-Iweala and Oshiomhole
How come monies that were supposed to accrue into the said account cannot be found in it going by the balance sheet provided by the former Minister? How come the Minister unilaterally dipped her hand into the Excess Crude Account to spend money in defiance of the constitution and the laws of the land?
How come that the Minister finds it convenient to publish allocations to States and Local Governments, but refused to publish accruals into the same account for us to know the status of the account at any point in time; how much was left from where she was distributing from?
What the Comrade Governor stated was that; it was interesting to note that by December 2012, the ECA had a balance of over $10billion. This had been depleted to $2.07billion by May 2015, according to the former Finance Minister. Between January 2013 and May 2015, not more than $4billion was shared among the three tiers of Government. Indeed, the last time any money was shared from the ECA was in May 2013.
Flowing from the above statement of facts, the Comrade Governor then asked a very pertinent question; how come there was no accretion to the ECA even when Crude oil prices averaged between $100 to $108 within the three years period of 2011 to 2014, aware that the National Budgets were based on $77 and $79 benchmark?
That gives an average of $30 per barrel gains. In fact, based on rough estimates, Nigeria should earn not less than $30billion accretion based on the official oil exports of 2.3 million barrels per day. The question which Okonjo-Iweala could not answer is; how come Nigeria did not make any savings during those three years of unprecedented oil price boom? Simple question that should ordinarily elicit simple response.
Without a scintilla of numerical reference, Okonjo-Iweala went into a voyage of storytelling like an intellectual raconteur, leaving out the real substance of the Comrade Governor’s salient questions.
First, she responded on May 28, 2015 where she denied the allegations describing them as “baseless”. Among other things she claimed that the 36 State Governors who are joint owners of the Excess Crude Account [ECA] with the Federal Government were in full picture of how the ECA was managed.
She stated inter alia; “how can Governor Oshiomhole claim that State Governors were not properly briefed on the status of the ECA when his Commissioner of Finance attends all FAAC meetings where decisions are taken and communi

The Commanding Officer, 72 Special Forces Battalion, Makurdi, Col. Timothy Lagbaja, has said that the battalion lost 28 soldiers to insurgency in the North-East and in Benue.
Lagbaja told newsmen in Makurdi on Wednesday that between 2012 and 2015, the battalion lost four officers and eight soldiers to the Tiv/Fulani and Agatu crises in Benue.
He said that the remaining 16 was lost to insurgency in the North-East, while many others who sustained degrees of injuries were either flown abroad or treated in the country.
The commander said the battalion alone had deployed about 500 soldiers to serve in the special security outfit `operation Zenda’ to maintain internal security in the state.
According to him, the effort is paying off as weapons hitherto in the hands of wrong people have been recovered.
He said that the high criminality in the state had been reduced to “few isolated cases of killings’’.

The serene atmosphere at Obafemi Awolowo University OAU, Ile-Ife was on Tuesday night shattered as a lecturer in the department of Agricultural Economics of the institution, Dr. Deji Adejobi, was killed by suspected assassins at his residence located at The-Dawn area, near the Ife toll gate in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
According to Adejobi’s gateman (names withheld), who recounted how the incident took place said the assailants trailed the deceased to his house at exactly 10:10 on Tuesdayevening and shot him twice after shooting into the air to scare the residents of the community.
Also, one of the children of the late lecturer, Oyin Adejobi, in an emotion laden voice narrated how her father was murdered in cold blood.
“As we finished our evening prayer at 10:05 pm, Dady drove into the compound. Then I overheard an argument between the gateman and some strange people. I quickly looked from the window and I saw another black car that entered our compound together with Daddy’s car. Our gateman was querying the occupants of the other car but they hit him and ordered him to lie down.
“The men in the black car came out before daddy could alight from his car and one of them shot into the air. Two of them advanced to dadd’s car while others came inside. Grandma started begging those that came inside to spare our lives . Suddenly, we heard gunshot twice from the outside.
“The assailants left at 10:20 and took daddy’s car away. I overheard daddy begging them that they should not take him away. When they left, we thought they took him away and we started praying for the safety of daddy without knowing that he had been killed. When the police came, they saw his lifeless body in the flower”, Oyin explained .
The younger brother of the deceased who is also the Public Relations Officer PPRO for Ogun State Police Command, Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi described the death of his brother as very pathetic.
The Police Public Relation Officer for Osun State Police Command, Mrs Folashade Odoro while confirming the incident said the command has commenced investigation into the matter and assured that the police would fish out the killers
The Public Relation Officer of OAU, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju also said the death of Dr Adejobi was very unfortunate, adding that the
management, staff and students of the university were very sad about the development.
Olanrewaju regretted that it was unfortunate that university lecturers have become the target of kidnappers, armed robbers and assassins. He warned that the trend is dangerous for education system in the country.
