See one of the vital reasons Yorubas desparately want Easterners to remain in this fraudulent union with them - a true confession from a Yoruba Christian: https://www.nairaland.com/2645916/igbos-reason-nigeria-never-split-jayfolarin:

"...I have to say this though, I believe the igbos create a sort of religion balance in the Nigerian system. This is very needed in the system as Nigeria will most likely be an islamic state without the igbos' major Christian population. I am a yoruba christain and will certainly not be comfortable with having the North and southwest as a country together without the inclusion of the Igbos. There are a reasonable number of Muslims in Yorubaland and I know that a southwest + North-only country will have the number of Muslims overshadow the Christians. The Islam religion with its usually overbearing tendencies (sorry) will want to lord it over minority Christians. I certainly won't be comfortable with this and i'm sure a lot of Yoruba christains won't be too. I seriously don't want to experience what it could be like for Nigeria without the Igbos.

... Nobody is going anywhere!!!"

Do you know what is call Religion balance at all?

The only place you see Balance of Religion in Nigeria is Yoruba States.

Go to North, the gov and deputy will be muslim with all the cabinet.

Go to South South and South East the cabinet are Christians.

But come to South Western States, if the Gov is a Muslim the deputy must be a Christian and vice versa. check dir cabinets too and see balancing in Religion.

Pastor Adeboye's village is in Osun, Pastor Kumuyi's village is in Osun, and dis people villages are close to Ile Ife where we have 201 gods that is been worshiped dir, the state get many Islamic cleric in Iwo, Oshogbo and Ede.

Iman go buy time on air preach, Pastor go buy time preach and you will see a Babalawo too on Osun Stare Broadcasting Corporation TV dey do ein own WIthout problem.

Tell me, despite all dis different beliefs, have u hear them killing each other

Christian no wan see Muslim in South South and South East, Muslim no wan see Christian in North but come to YORUBA LAND, WE WILL EMBRACE YOU COZ WE HAVE LEARNT TO TOLORATE EACH OTHER AND THAT WILL KEEP PEACE IN OUR STATES.

Stop twisting comments to suit Yoruba narratives, propaganda and lies.

Igbos are not interested in sharing a country with anything Yoruboid or Edoid. This is a free world of free of association, Yorubas can therefore merge themselves with those groups you mentioned.

Leave Igbos out of your miseries.

HARD FACTS.
Yorubas are the problem of Nigeria - Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

Is an Igbo {Ibe from delta} not the Petroleum minister for State? - Buhari(GCFR).

Bayelsa an Ijaw territory has a lot of Igbo speakers.

Asaba boys {staunch Igbo Biafrans} in ND threw men of the NPF into river Niger on May 30.

Etche {pronounced ichie} in Rivers are proud Igbos.

We're being marginalized - Igbo community in Benue.

A few HARD FACTS. Don't live a life of an ostrich.

Come Rivers State, especially go Ogoni, Eleme, Sakpenwa, Khana, Bori and call them Igbo, ur head na suya that nite

Out of 23 local govt in Rivers, more than half said they are not Igbos, how many local can u claim in Delta Only few.

So the majority will allow minority wey Una get merge them with Una?? ?

Maybe you did not know that Wike sent his boys(security) to arrest those that protested for Biafra in Rivers State.

What I have said so far is from my Ikwere frnds and not my words. I never said they do not have links with Igbo, but what I said was that, the present Ikwere mentality now is that they stand on their own despite that their languages is similar with Igbo. So I know what I have said so far .

In Yoruba land, you are nithing but another migrant worker working his asx off to feed himself and his hungry family back in his poor, unproductive and economically depressed village. grin

You are not doing anybody any favor, you work and pay taxes to Yoruba land and not to your poor village

We built the Lekki Ikoyi bridge which is the best and the most sophisticated bridge in West Africa with your taxes while your broke and backward village have been begging for ordinary village 2nd NB for 30 years and still begging with no bridge in sight.

Your migrant worker tax money is building our roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, metro rail and so on and on..

Where is the sense and wisdom in boasting that you are working your tail off to help develop other people's land while your own village is still stone age with nothing to show for anything. You people no get sense sha.. grin

The highest achievement for you and your co villagers is climbing the next ekenedilishuku to Yoruba land for your daily bread.. grin

When you leave your village to seek success in another man's land, it means you and your village are poor, it means you are heading to a rich place where people have money, it means you are going to earn your living at the mercy of already successful people with money.

Common sense should tell you that you can not make any money from people people and if there is no money to be made in Yorubaland and if they are really poor in Yorubaland, you and your poor village people won;t be catching the next ekenedilishiku to YORUBALAND..Na common sense. grin

Come back with that nonsense when Yoruba people begin migrate to your poor and unproductive village for anything. grin

Poor people go to rich people for survival and not the other way around.... grin

What freedom? That was foolishness and you got your asx kicked for that foolishness so let's hear word jare..

The fact that you feel like you don't have any freedom because of your low self esteem, insecurities, paranoia and anti social ways doesn't mean other people don't have freedom. We have freedom hence Yoruba peole always leading Nigeria socially and economically, we keep moving up while you cry and wail over silly and dumb rubbish grin

Do you see us shouting and killing ourselves over such foolishness? Freedom ko, independence ni.. grin

[s]It will always be about chasing after the northerners for "one Nigeria" for you guys because you don't have the guts to stand alone like Igbos can. That's why IPOB is laughable for you guys, the idea of independence outside Nigeria is beyond your realm of thinking. We are all different people, Hausa/Igbo/Yoruba. We will never be united, we never have. So let's all go our different ways and stop giving each other headache. Unfortunately, you Yorubas don't agree with this[/s]

Not interested in your tribal ipob nonsense... grin

Business / US Based Nigerian Shoe Designer Shola Talks Expansion Into The African Market. by Giyerte(m): 12:11pm On Jun 11, 2016
Nigerian born shoe designer, Shola Yusuf arrived in the U.S. in 1989 with only $100 in her pocket. She worked her way through pharmacy school and continued to work at a breakneck pace to support herself and her daughter and to one day realize a dream of owning her own business.
Shola’s designs are beautifully shaped, elegant and quite well-made in vivid hues and luxury materials (some with patterns) adding to their appeal.
Take a bold step with Shola Designs and you’ll find the latest, newest, freshest styles of their shoes in a wide variety of heels, pumps, flats, wedges and accessories. Get to know more about the designer in the interview below.

So what is your name? and your design/line name?
Shola: My name is Shola Yusuf and my line is SHOLA DESIGNS

Give us a little background, how did you get into starting a shoe line?
Shola: In 2009, I was in a near fatal accident in New York City on my way to a party in which I broke my femur (the longest bone in the body). I was wearing my first pair of Christian Louboutin shoes and the first thing I asked the emergency medical personnel was the whereabouts of my favorite pair of shoes because after the accident, the shoes came off my feet. I was more worried about my shoes than my broken leg! I was in therapy for 6 months after the accident.
The shoes are what motivated me to actually walk again because I couldn’t imagine never being able to wear my high heels! At this moment, my life calling and passion became clear to me. I would build my pharmacies and also design objects I wanted for myself…starting with shoes!

What lead you to beginning to work with shoes?
Shola: Art and Fashion have always been a driving force in my life. I grew up with a mother who sold luxurious fabrics and was also a fashionista! She would take yearly vacations to Italy and Paris to buy enough shoes, clothes and bags to last her till the next vacation. She never wore the same outfit including shoes and bags twice. It follows that from a young age, I was always interested in dressing well.

Where do you draw your inspiration from when creating designs?
Shola: I have always been inspired by colors. Travelling the world also provides some exposure and awareness of one’s environment. Sometimes inspiration could come from friends, family, culture, magazines or walking down the street. Wherever it comes from, it takes you to where you need to go or places you didn’t even know you needed to go.

What is the process in creating these shoes?
Shola: First you have to be inspired by something, and then you communicate your vision to your team who will create the design. Simply put;

Take your design / drawing to a shoe factory to create a prototype of each style.

Handpick/select your materials for your prototype based on the style of the shoe.

Once you approved the prototype then you can go into full production. This process can take anywhere from 3- 6 months with multiple trips to the factory.

Who do you envision wearing your shoes? Do you think about this when you work on designs?
Shola: A smart and sophisticated shopper who wants to feel as good as she looks.

What are some new shoe designs you are working on, what are your plans for the coming future?
Shola: I am currently working on a Men’s collection.

Tell us specifically about the designs featured in this photo shoot?
Shola: The designs featured in this photo-shoot are from my “SAN MARINO COLLECTION”. They are stylish, elegant and comfortable. They are all handcrafted and made mostly with vibrant metallic Italian leather. Every single one of the designs is inspired by friends and fashion associates. I have named each style after them. For example, a shoe is named after a friend “Sandra” who described her personality to be confident, driven and supportive.

You’ve lived in United States for most of your life, why are you now considering the African Market?
Shola: Although SHOLA designs is thriving in the US, I strongly feel its time to get back to my roots. Africans – especially Nigerians have always been a fashion conscious and savvy nation. How better to join in promoting the African fashion revolution than to be at the heart of it?

Do you have a retail location/online store? if not how can we access the line?
Shola: We are currently looking for retailers all over Africa. If you are interested, you can call this number +2348023659126 or send an email to

Culture / Ooni’s UN Visit: US Declares June 13, 2016 As Yoruba Day. by Giyerte(m): 11:53am On Jun 11, 2016
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, was on Friday hosted by the indigenes of Ile-Ife, Osun State, resident in the United States.

The monarch, with his entourage, was received at the J.F. Kennedy Airport, New York, by leaders of Ife indigenes and other Nigerians in the US on Thursday.
A New York City Senator, Kevin Parker, and the Brooklyn Borough President, Eric Adams, said the city had secured a proclamation to declare Monday, June 13, 2016 as Yoruba Day.
They said the action was to honour the monarch.

According to a statement, the Ooni has also been billed to visit President Barack Obama at the White House, where he will receive an award.

The statement added that a number of programmes had been scheduled to honour the traditional ruler while in the country.
As part of activities in his visit to the US, the Ooni will on Sunday, June 12, 2016, be the Special Guest of Honour at the prestigious Odunde festival.

The festival, which promotes the culture of the Yoruba race, was created in 1975 by Lois Fernandez and Ruth Arthur, and attracts about 500,000 people annually.
The event will provide an opportunity for the monarch to interact with the over 3,000 Ife indigenes in the US on how to develop Ile-Ife.
The statement said, “On the same day, the Museum of the Contemporary African Diaspora Arts will receive the monarch in a private reception as well as a public forum session.

“Expected at the event will be Brooklyn Borough President and a New York City Public Advocate, Leticia James. The monarch will then move to the Mid-West and other parts of the country to attend economic and leadership summits before being received by President Barack Obama through The White House Office of Faith-based and Neighbourhood Partnerships.”
The Chairman of the Grand Reception Planning Committee and one of the leaders of Ife Ooye North America group, Chief Olubunmi Awopileda, said, “All Ife natives in the US are excited and energised for this epochal occasion. It will be an occasion to showcase our very rich culture with our king as the symbol.

Disunity is a symptom. We just live in a denial here and keep massaging the truth. The solution to all these agitations lies in ending this feeding bottle structure that we practice which encourages neocolonialism, the amalgamation of North and South is a big fraud. There is so much injustice, inequity, subjugation, winner-takes-it-all. There can't be peace under this structure, and if there is no peace there can't be unity or progress. Everyone must be made to feel involved, protected and represented for there to be first, a sense of patriotism, then unity. In this present structure where you have too strong center, one people use the instrument of the state to oppress and marginalize others. And we are talking about peace and unity. Let's be sincere, where in the world would security operatives open fire on unarmed civilian doing peaceful protest? Let's stop massaging the truth. This feeding bottle system of government we are running in this nation is the cause of all these problems. We need to end this structure. I am in total support of true fiscal federalism where every zones contribute a token to the centre and take their future and pace of growth in their own hands, and express their cultures and religion freely, and practice their vocations unhindered and that will bring all these agitations to an end. Dialogue is just a short term solution. I strongly believed that this is the only way to end this injustice.
So, I want to urge all Nairalanders and well meaning Nigerians to support the proposed fiscal federalism as recommended in 2014 National Conference. Let's stop this tribal statements and insult because, it will only cause hatred and more agitation for self determination.
Everyone must be made to feel involved, protected and represented for there to be first, a sense of patriotism, then unity.

I support you man, there will be competition in the region which will bring development.
