Sometimes, people's inability to question things just make them believe every myth and rumour they hear. Your common Junior Basic Science knowledge tells you that The earth is spherical and the sun is always shining. If the sun is still producing light, then how will the entire earth get dark? even if there's a solar eclipse, the the moon can't obstruct light from from up to 25% of earth surface because it's only 27% of the earth's size. The only way the earth will experience darkness is if the sun collapses and experiences a supernova, thus forming a blackhole. If that happens, we'll all die in less than a day. Besides, our sun is too young for that and if there's no sun, what will then hold us in our orbits?

Since the story of the sex video involving former Miss Anambra, Chidinma Okeke, broke a few weeks ago, several groups and individuals have come forward with different versions of what transpired between the embattled 20-year-old beauty queen and the organisers of the pageant.
The former beauty queen was seen in a shocking x-rated video with a lesbian partner. Surprisingly, the video was released on October 11, 2016, a few days before the expiration of her tenure originally billed for October 28, 2016.
Every day across the state since the video hit the streets, different versions of what led to the scandal are churned out by the actors, leaving the people confused and unsure of what to believe.
Since the scandal broke, Miss Chidinma Okeke, who won the Miss Anambra beauty pageant, organised by the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), has remained incommunicado, choosing to go into hiding over alleged threats to her life. She has also remained silent, leaving her lawyer to do most of the talking.
While the father, Sir Jeremiah Okeke, had claimed in recent reports that his daughter had been handed over to a relation for safety, some others claimed that the ex-beauty queen had relocated abroad.
But after weeks of keeping quiet, Miss Okeke has finally broken her silence. In an exclusive interview with The Nation , she debunked claims that she threatened to commit suicide, adding that there was never a time such thought came to her mind.
She also said her life might no longer be in danger, adding that her traducers were no longer threatening her life, and maintaining that those who were after her life had stopped contacting her.
She also said the faces behind her agonizing period in Anambra would be revealed soon, adding that with God, all things are possible.
Narrating her own side of the story, she said:
“Early last year, the ABS advertised for the Miss Anambra beauty pageant. I heard of it and went to make enquiry.
“My roommate was also interested, but one of the organisers told me to apply. I told them I was not interested but the man insisted that I might win the competition. He also promised to give me the form for free if I indicated interest, and he did when I agreed to contest.
“But one Jane told me that before a winner would be declared, there were certain things to be done, including the (sex) video. I consented after some persuasion from the organisers. I later went for the contest at the Marble Arch Hotels in Awka, and I was declared winner with a Kia Rio vehicle as star prize.
“When I went for my car after the contest, the organisers brought out a contract form for me to sign, but I told them I wanted to contact my lawyer to see it. I was not given the opportunity to do so.
“What they kept telling me was that if I insisted on not signing the contract or wanted to contact my lawyer, they would release the video.
“At that point, I became uncomfortable and signed the contract to avoid such embarrassment, and the car was released to me from where it was packed within the premises of ABS.
“From that moment, I became a slave to them. On October 11, 2016, they called me to come and make presentations inside the office of one the organisers. After that, the man excused some people in that room and showed me the video again.
“They told me to drop my car and removed my crown from me. I told them I would take the car as stipulated in the contract. They insisted I should pack it in the premises of (ABS).
“I told my uncle in Abuja about the situation. My uncle called them and asked them to release my car to me. Instead, they forwarded the video to him as part of the blackmail. That was what happened,” Chidinma said, crying.
She also said the scandal had weighed her down. Amidst sobs, she denied being a lesbian, saying she had never been involved in the act.
For her parents, Sir Jeremiah and his wife, Lady Nora Okeke, the incident remains a shock. According to Sir Okeke, the management and organisers of the pageant capitalised on his daughter’s “age and naivety to deny her whatever monetary gains she made while serving as Miss Anambra.”
He added:
“How can a beauty queen borrow money to pay her driver, even when she is supposed to be receiving a monthly salary?
“I cannot say all that I heard or saw. Why was she not paid her winning prize of one million naira fully? Rather, they paid her on installmental basis. And up until today, the money has not been completely paid.
“They have rubbished her and rubbed the family’s name in the mud. But we have united as a family, praying seriously for my daughter and for the people behind this wicked act to be exposed.
“My family at first agreed not to tell me about the whole thing, because I am hypertensive. But they decided otherwise when things got out of hand. I told them this issue will not kill me because I have had worse experiences while in business years back.
“My God, as always, will answer me and expose the truth in no distant time. I won’t say much because the damage has already been done.
“Chidinma is a small girl who does not know anything, hence, she fell into a trap that was too heavy for her to shoulder. But I thank God she is recovering.”
All through the interview, Chidinma’s mother, who was advised by the husband to remain silent, continued to hiss, and motioning her hands towards the heavens in supplication to God.
Two of the chiefs in Ogboji community in Orumba South Local Government Area, where Chidinma hails from, Chief Obi Okoli (Idejimba) and Chief Julius Nwankwo (Nwabulu-Omee), told The Nation that the incident had left them in shock.
Okoli, who described Chidinma as a nice and well-trained girl from a Christian home, saw the entire thing as a set up, but argued that such issues would only happen if somebody presents oneself.
According to him, “she is a well brought up girl from a good family background and Christian home. There could be more to this than meets the eyes.”
Asked if the community was not going to say anything on the sex scandal involving their daughter, Okoli laughed and said: “There are ways of handling such issues, and I don’t think the community will be involved.”
Also speaking, Chief Julius Nwankwo, described the situation as a pity, adding that today’s children behave as they like.
However, he said that the people of Ogboji community were seeing it as blackmail, adding that none of them was happy with what happened to their daughter.
He said:
“As an Ogboji man, I am pained that such a thing happened to one of our own, and that is why we want the authorities concerned to look into the saga appropriately, with a view to arresting those involved.
“When our daughter won the award, we were happy. For anybody or group of persons to rubbish her and our community is what we will not condone.”
Nwankwo said they heard some people had been apprehended over the sex scandal, adding that the authorities should look well in making sure that wrong people were not punished.
The Managing Director of ABS, the organisers, Uche Nworah did not comment on the queen’s allegations when we contacted him. He instead referred us to the organisation’s earlier statement.
In the earlier statement, the organisers had dissociated themselves from the scandal. Part of the statement read: “The attention of the management of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, organisers of the Miss Anambra Beauty Pageant, has been drawn to a video with lurid contents purportedly showing former Miss Anambra, Miss Chidinma Okeke (Miss Anambra 2015).
“The said Miss Chidinma Okeke, who is allegedly linked to the lurid content in circulation, has served out her term as Miss Anambra 2015 and handed over the crown in line with the terms and conditions of The Miss Anambra pageant.
“We condemn in clear terms any amoral behaviour/conduct as suggested by the alleged lurid content in circulation and do not condone such.
“It is on record that The Miss Anambra Beauty Pageant has been a platform to empower Anambra women and celebrate our rich culture and heritage. Winners of the pageant are bound to contracts to be of good conduct and moral behaviour and to uphold/maintain the honour in their position as queen.
“Winners of the pageant also contract to refrain from any personal relationship that could appear to hinder their ability to perform the duties of their office as queen and role model, and we do not expect any less.
“We, therefore, wish to dissociate The Miss Anambra pageant from any discussions on the said allegations.
“We feel sufficiently perturbed by the mere reference already made to the pageant and hereby state that we are in no way connected to the controversy.
“We apologise to the government and good people of Anambra State, our sponsors, supporters, friends and all those associated with the Miss Anambra project for the embarrassment the mere reference to the pageant in the controversy may have caused whilst reassuring of the good intentions of the Miss Anambra pageant franchise.”

This Is not a drill, Washington, D.C. – NASA has confirmed that the Earth will experience 15 days of total darkness which starts between December 15 and 29, 2017. The event, according to NASA, has been waiting for this pronominal event to happen.
Astronomers from NASA have indicated that the world will remain in complete darkness starting December 15, 2017 at 3:00 am and will end on Monday, December 30, 2017 at 4:45 pm.
According to officials, (the December blackout will be caused by an astronomical event between Venus and Jupiter).
Charles Bolden, who was appointed to the head of NASA by ‘president’ Obama, issued a 1000 page document explaining the event to the White House.
According to the report, Venus and Jupiter will engage in a close parallelism, only being separated by 1 degree. Venus will pass to the South-west of Jupiter, causing Venus to shine 10 times Brighter than Jupiter. The light from Venus will heat up the gases on Jupiter causing a reaction.
The gaseous reaction will release an unprecedented amount of hydrogen into space. The hydrogen gas will make contact with Earth’s Sun at approximately 2:50 am. The amount of hydrogen making contact with the Sun will cause a massive explosion on the Sun’s surface temperature to increase to 9,000 degrees kelvin in an instant.
The Sun will then attempt to cease the explosion by emitting heat from its core, (diagram shows above)
The heat will cause the Sun to dim to a bluish color. Once the Sun reaches the Bluish color, it will take approximately 14 days to restore its normal surface temperature, returning its color of the Red Giant.
While the Sun is cooling the surface, the light from the sun will be much dimmer because it takes anywhere from 7 – 8 and a half minutes, depending on the Earth’s rotation, for light from the Sun to hit Earth. People will not know the event has happened until 2:58 am on December 15th.
Bolden held a conference with Obama Administration to discuss further details of the Blackout” event. According to Bolden, “We do not expect any major effects from the blackout event. The only effect this event will have on Earth is an increase of 6 – 8 degrees in temperature. The polar cap will be mostly affected by this. No one should worry much. This event would be similar to what Alaskans experience in the winter”.
Boleden further added, “The only other effect it will have is everyone will get to have a true Black Friday after Thanksgiving.”

10 - Charles Joughin Drank So Much Alcohol That It Kept Him From Freezing

Charles Joughin was a baker. When the
Titanic started going down, he knew he wasn’t one of the people who would be saved. Instead, he helped the wealthy get to the lifeboats and gave them food. Then he went to his cabin and slammed down as much whiskey as he could, getting ready to die.
Somewhere in his drunken stupor, Joughin found himself clinging to the railing at the edge of the ship, lifted high into the air. He hung on until the boat was submerged, and then he jumped into the water.
Joughin spent three hours in the freezing water before he was rescued. Normally, that would have been enough time to kill anybody. But Joughin’s body had so much whiskey coursing through it that the whiskey actually fought off the cold and kept him alive.

9 - Robert Hichens Crashed The
Titanic And Bailed

The man behind the wheel when the
Titanic crashed was Robert Hichens. He wasn’t the captain, though, and he had no obligation to go down with anything. So he took to the lifeboats.
Hichens filled his boat and sailed off to safety. As they went, though, some of the people aboard started to think they had the chance to save more lives. “We have to look out for ourselves now,” Hichens said. “Pay no attention to those stiffs.”
One of the women aboard the lifeboat was Molly Brown, who has been called the hero of the Titanic. Furious, she threatened to throw Hichens overboard if he didn’t give her the oar. She and a few other women took over the lifeboat, turned back, and saved a few more people from drowning.

8 - Several Women Smuggled Dogs Onto Their Lifeboats

There wasn’t much room on the lifeboats, but Elizabeth Rothschild wasn’t about to let her favorite dog drown. She stuffed her dog into her coat and hopped into the boat. When the dog was spotted, she refused to let it go.
She wasn’t the only one. Margaret Hays
wrapped her dog in blankets to sneak it on the lifeboat, while the Harper family just carried their dog with them. “There seemed to be lots of room,” Mr. Harper said later.
Some people were even more adamant. One woman reportedly went down with the ship, refusing to get on a lifeboat unless they would let her take her dog with her.

7 - William Carter Left His Wife And Children To Die

When the Carters made it safely to New York, they told the press a story that cast William Carter as a hero. But a different story came out when the pair divorced.
During the divorce, Mrs. Carter recounted that William had rushed into the room when the Titanic crashed and said, “Get up and dress yourself and the children.” Then he ran from the room without another word.
Presumably, he’d planned to come back. But he saw that a lifeboat was leaving, hopped on, and fled without his family. Mrs. Carter had to get her kids to a lifeboat on her own. There were no men on her boat, so she had to row the boat herself.
When she finally made it to the
Carpathia , William was leaning on the ship’s rail. He waved at her and said, “I thought you wouldn’t make it!” Then he reassured her: “ I had a jolly good breakfast !”

6 - Five Millionaires Bribed The Crew To Let Them Have Their Own Lifeboat

When Abraham Saloman realized that the Titanic was going down, he knew what he had to do. Acting quickly, he grabbed a lunch menu —because he had to get a souvenir.
Saloman and four other millionaires then made their way to the lifeboats where they saw a boat with room for 40 people. If they had to flee a sinking ship, though, they wanted to be comfortable doing it. So one of them, Cosmo Duff-Gordon, bribed some crew members to take the millionaires alone and let them stretch out their legs a bit.
Out at sea, the crew suggested going back and rescuing the others. Mrs. Duff-Gordon, though, was worried that the boat would get a little cramped. So they left the others to die, even though they had room for at least 28 more people on their boat.

5 - Daniel Buckley Dressed Up As A Woman To Get On A Lifeboat

Crewman H.G. Lowe left the Titanic on a lifeboat overflowing with people. When he saw that other lifeboats still had space, he passed his people onto other boats and went back to the ship to save as many more people as he could.
When Lowe returned, he saw a particularly muscular-looking woman wearing a skirt and shawl. She rushed over and jumped into the boat as quickly as she could. Lowe took a quicker look under the shawl and realized that it was a man in a dress.
That man was Daniel Buckley. In his version of the story, he insists that he wasn’t wearing a skirt. But he doesn’t deny5 that he had a shawl on his head.

4 - Masabumi Hosono Was Fired For Surviving

Masabumi Hosono was the only Japanese man on the Titanic. He worked for the Ministry of Transportation and had been sent to Russia to research their railway system. His long trip back involved stops in England and then a first-class trip on the maiden voyage of the Titanic.
When the ship started to sink, Hosono intended to sacrifice his own life to save others. Then he saw another man hop on a lifeboat. If nobody else was going to be noble, Hosono figured, there was no sense in being the only man stupid enough to go down with the boat.
But Hosono suffered for his survival. The Japanese press called him a coward who had “betrayed the samurai spirit of self-sacrifice.” Hosono lost his job for the disgrace of surviving.

3- Dorothy Gibson Made A Movie About Surviving The Titanic 29 Days After It Sank

A film star named Dorothy Gibson escaped the wreck and made her way back to New York. There, she went directly to her manager’s office. She told him that this was the opportunity of a lifetime and they needed to make a movie about it.
Gibson wrote the script herself and reenacted her own near-death experience within a matter of days. Convinced it would lend “authenticity” to the film, she even wore the same dress she had on when the Titanic went down. The film was in theaters less than a month after the ship sank.
There are no copies left. But based on the reviews, that might be just as well. Some reviews are positive, but others are a bit harsher. One calls the film’s exploitation of the tragedy “revolting” and the film itself a “lamentable tragedy .”

2 - Dickinson Bishop Said He Accidentally Tripped And Fell Into A Lifeboat

When the Titanic sank, the men were supposed to let women and children escape first. Bravely, 1,352 men went down with the ship to help keep their wives and children alive.
Dickinson Bishop wasn’t one of those men. When he was questioned about how he’d gotten out ahead of so many girls, Bishop came up with the perfect cover story: He had accidentally tripped and fell and landed in a lifeboat.
He nearly blew his alibi in the inquiry that happened after the Titanic sank. He was asked, “Who told you to get in the lifeboat?”
“One of the officers,” Bishop replied helpfully. “He helped me into the boat.”
Then, realizing what he’d just admitted to, Bishop backpedaled. “Or,” he said, “rather . . . ” He stammered for a moment. When he got his senses back, he explained that what he’d meant to say was, “I fell into the boat.”

1 - Katherine Gilnagh Thought The Ship Was Sinking On Purpose

After the Titanic sank, an interviewer asked Katherine Gilnagh when she realized how serious it was. “I thought it was part of the trip, to tell you the truth,” she said. “I didn’t realize there was any danger.”
Gilnagh was sleeping when the ship started to sink. She was awakened and escorted to the lifeboats, where passengers were told to row their way to another vessel. She’d never been on a cruise ship before, so she figured that this was just how things were done.
Gilnagh described the ship exploding, having to push wreckage away, and pulling people out of the water into her lifeboat. Even after watching the Titanic sink in the water, she didn’t realize that any of this was unusual.
“I didn’t realize how serious the trouble was,” Gilnagh said when she was in the US, “until I got to this country.”

Countless stories have been shared about people on the Titanic pulling together to save their shipmates or men stepping aside to let women and children escape on lifeboats.
But there are other stories from the
Titanic that we usually don’t talk about. Some of these stories are less than heroic, and some are downright ridiculous.
