His primary allegiance is to the federal Republic of Nigeria as a country and not a particular administration or Minister/appointed government official. I am amused that you make reference to western countries because unlike Nigeria, they have independent bodies that critically evaluate government decisions and actions- none of these exist in Nigeria.
Additionally, the civil service in most Western nations have internal mechanisms that allow workers to make recommendations and critique decisions and actions of both their superiors and subordinates without the fear of being summarily or constructively dismissed.
Like you said, western countries has independent bodies that takes care of such issues, but week have Icpc and federal character commission, did he report to them before going public which would have even saved him from bn sacked. I personally believe the man has an ulterior motive for boldly going public or just bn overzealous
Madam Iweala is employed by the World Bank and as such should know and appreciate the importance of separating politics from professional duties.
However, the fact that this fellow decided to take his alleged grievance to a media outlet makes his position as Chief Information Officer untenable but an outright dismissal was unnecessary; considering it was Madam Iweala who reported and asked for him to be disciplined- Surely such requests would not have been entertained in the World Bank but I guess you act like a Roman when in Rome. |

Its wrong for a civil servant to publicly accuse, abuse or counter the same govt. He/she is serving. He might be right but the condition or environment does not condone such effrontery, not even in Western world. |

Ngige started dining with strange bedfellows and forgot the norms and customs of his people!!! typical of what to expect if he is mistakenly pronounced winner of this November election.
As for people questioning Obi"s decision , the Igbo tradition and custom is still very much respected and practiced in Onitsha. |

Idi Amin: Noted. But please did all these stop Ngige from delivering dividends of democracy to the people? Hell no. My friend, its high time we started appreciating the good side of people. Peter Obi, the saint that never visited a shrine "publicly though", what has he done to alleviate the plight of the masses? I was there when Ngige paid civil servants salary and retirement benefits on every 25th of every month back in his days. I also have a dozier of his days as a doctor in Onitsha general hospital. Take everything away from Ngige, but give him the credit of being a fearless, principled and honorable man 21st century governance is much more than paying salaries , its about bringing ideas that will move the economy and social welfare forward, that's why th United nations developed MDGs as abenchmark for developing countries , which Ngige did not evenremember as a governor talk more of implementing! You will now shout that he repaired roads in his local govt , what about constructing new ones ? I hear you say honourable man! Hmmm! Case for another day. Meanwhile Peter is one of the best three governors in implementing MDG programmes in Nigeria and if youwant to know more try and read OKey Ikechukwu's piece on Peter Obi on thisday newspaper today. |

I don't understand the caliber of people in this nairaland especially the commenters on Anambra issue, YES! I don't support Ngige (not APC) and I don't see any reason any reasonable Nigerian that wants us to grow as a country will support him. Here is a man that rigged election and openly acknowledgd the act and even went ahead to narrate how they visited all sorts of shrines ! just for POWER!!!.........DESPERATION!!! Here is a man that is promising to deal with kidnappers but ran away from the state after been the first victim of kidnapping in the state as a chief security officer. Here is a medical doctor , as a governor no hospital in the state was accreditated......CLUELESS!!! Here is a criminal that went to robbery with his colleagues and the sharing of the loot became a problem , he decided to run back and claim innocence....Ngige we are no fools .Desperation is written all over you sir. Greed is a undetachable part of you, which your associates acknowledges. Ngige right thinking Anambrarians don't want you cos we are not ready to witness another chaos, we are not ready for another burning of buildings or fighting. We are scared that you might have signed another toilet agreement with some elements we don't know. You compounded your woes when you imported a brigand from Imo to spear head your greedy intent(we have not forgotten OBJs warning to Imo people).
If we really want to grow as a nation and democratically we must first of do away with criminals ,fraudsters, coup plotters and election riggers especially (BUHARI, IBB,NGIGE).
ANAMBRA WILL RISE AGAIN. |

Except these men are just giving it out for free as donation to his campaign The truth is that professional politicians surrounded the maga and convinced him that with money he can buy Anambra so he is foolishly fishing out the money to them ,while he also sweet talks his friends into borrowing him more to execute the job |

Why all these desperation by politicians, its obvious that almost all of them contesting this election have nothing to tell us or rather don't have any plan or vision for Anambra. Why cant you guys just be logical for once and keep sentiments aside. Since 1999 till now, Ngige has been the best governor of Anambra state and we all know that. My bro I will like to know the criteria used in crowning Ngige best governor! |
