my broiler turns 6 weeks today, many looks sick, two died this morning making it 10 mortality since the day it was bought, reason: i cant explain. i also noticed that they are not feeding as they used to, i started noticing it yesterday where i gave them the quota that i used to give them. when i came back from work, i saw they couldn't finish it. i don't know if they noticed the finisher inside their grower mash because i mixed some quantity as i will soon change to finisher. but that is how i changed from starter to grower. so what is happening. can someone who has same experience share on what i can do to save the remaining 41 broilers to Easter sales. |

Eggcelent: Globaby01. The email address is eniitanemmanuel@yahoo.com. Meanwhile, sorry about the incident with the rain. I believe they are old enough to survive, though you may need to increase the intensity of the heat supplied. Finally & most important, ENSURE YOU REPLACE THE LITTER TONIGHT. Success thanks my able boss, there is no signs now and I have change their place and the lantern was on throughout after the rain till now, I even came at mid nite to ensure the lantern is still on |
Agriculture › Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by Globaby01: 6:06pm On Feb 11, 2015 |
Eggcelent: Globaby01. vaccines are in doses. each bottle has the dosage written on it; 200 & 1000. the dosage you use is dependent on the number of birds you have. you use 200 for a flock of less than/equal to 200, etc. You may check the paper on the bottle if you have not thrown it away. I'll advise you carry a more experienced person along for a while to avoid vaccine failure. Success thanks my boss, please may I have ur email address or phone number |

Agriculture › Re: Starting A Poultry Farm (a Blog) by Globaby01: 1:33pm On Feb 11, 2015 |
Eggcelent: Globaby01. A 9 days old chick should still be in brood. Keep your birds for few days more. I wouldn't know if you got vaccination schedule from the hatchery you got your birds. If yes, follow the instructions. If no, I'll advise you give gumboro & lasota vaccines to your birds within their first 28 - 30 days leaving a minimum of 10 days between each vaccine. Since there are only 45 birds, 200 dose vaccine should be ok. Success. what's 200 dose, the vaccine are in bottles, so how many bottles make this 200 dose? from the info on this publication, I was asked to give them gumboro when they are 10 days. I already gave them this morning |

kevin96: I just think the heat is not enough. the reason why some are getting wet is because they are falling into the drinker. How many birds are they and how many drinkers are u using? Also try and placed them on good antibiotics like doxygen and amoxycol with vitamin , all three drugs must be use together. 51 but 47 now, 2 drinkers. OK thanks |

fnk: Try everything you can do to manage this set that you have, but don't buy from this source again, I had a very bad experience with them and after visiting and enquiring from other farmer, they complained of this same issue of mortality, I lost so many birds from them, Zatech day olds, have a higher survival rate, chi farm is another one that I have head that is good. Pele! thanks so much for that info. God bless you |

I have lost 4 birds since Tuesday till today, I don't know why. all I can understand is that one was wet before I went to work and I don't know how, so I thought the lamp will warm it but it died and this evening I met 2 fresh dead and one soaked with water, making it 4 altogether. I gave them initially glucose and stress-vit and that's all. at first they all were not eating but they are gradually picking up. what have I missed and still missing . please help urgently, friends in the house |

Between, how much did you buy your DOC? I'm guessing they are Layers abi? How long did it take you to process the purchase i.e. from booking to pick up? its not layers, its broilers and the price is N120 each, I paid on Thursday and collected it on Monday after work. baba number is 08037270159. they also have layers |

Eggcelent: Globaby01. If I understand what you mean by "congeal", then it means the vaccine is still potent/good. Keep it in the refrigerator & leave it "congealed" till you are ready to use. (Meanwhile, the aspect of "Baba told me" is quite funny. Are you saying OBJ himself personally attended to you? Or the "Baba" here is an entirely different person?) not OBJ, but there is a baba that normally sell it to customers |

Kutunban: Tips to be a successful broiler farmer: 1)Source your day old chicks from reputable hatcheries: like Byang Amo, Obasanjo farms and some others. 2)Vaccination and drugs: some vaccines like mareks is administered by the producer so ensure that. Then get a vacc program table for disease in your area. 2) Hygiene: its a prerequisite so ensure it is kept always including biosecurity. 3)Nutrition: Don't starve your birds least you get GIGO and don't compromise quality feed or you will pay darely for it. 4)Marketing:Before production source for buyers I mean potential ones. Don't just venture because people say its profitable and market is large. If you need help am a practicing farmer and an animal nutritionist so drop you questions and I will help for free please I was told that when I bought obasanjo doc today that they are not given io vaccine. my io vaccine is congeal, do I add water to it or it will turn watery after some time when not refrigerated? please answer urgently and I was also told that its administered through the chicken's eye |
