Following the decisions arrived at the just concluded 2016 JAMB Combined Policy Meeting on Admissions to Universities, Polytechnics and other higher institutions in Nigeria, the 2016 official cut-off mark has been pegged at 180 for Universities, Polytechnic and Colleges of Education. This implies that no higher institution; universities, polytechnics, colleges of education or certificate awarding institutions recognized by JAMB will go below 180. However, they can choose to go above the benchmark of 180. Similarly, the decision to scrap post-UTME was taken. This means that institutions will no longer conduct Post-UTME screenings. According to the minister of education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, there is confidence in what JAMB is doing and hence no need to conduct another examination for candidates seeking admission into higher institutions. He further stated that universities that have complaints against JAMB should bring it forward for address. However, the minister directed JAMB to stop demanding extra charges on other services rendered by the board to candidates which include change of course/institution. Here are the words of the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde after the meeting, “180 is given, no institution will go below 180 this year, And some universities can go above it, I know University of Ife will not go below 200 and University of Lagos will not go below 200 and also UI. All these ones stand but 180 as bench mark for others. “This year we have more than enough candidates, we have over 1.5 million candidates so we will get enough candidates to take in all the schools if they are serious. Re-distribution is already ongoing, because it is embedded in the registration procedure.” https://globallords..com/2016/06/jamb-cut-off-marks-for-20162017.html |
ARTICLE: Writer's Opinion Only Hmm, its another democracy day and the administration is a year older, congrats #PMB. During the last general election, the masses stormed the polling centres to support their new messiah-to-be (PMB). The campaign promises we heard turned us up and we wanted them (PMB and APC) at all cost. Now, it a year since the inuaguration of the MESSIAH ADMINISTRATION but have we been enjoying what we voted for? NO!!! They said our president is WORKING, thats for sure but do nigerian care about working without much results? Fuel Subsidy stuffs, Dollar now 345+/Naira, Community Unrests (Niger Delta Avengers, Herdmen killings, Biafra agitators) are also there to solve. President Buhari is really working, but isn't this the right time to go back to God? We've trusted men more than him and expected his blessings. Lets pray to God to support this administration for the CHANGE they promised us. Credits: globallords..com |
The Federal Government has announced plans to establish at least one Information and Communications Technology (ICT) university in each of the six geo-political zones of the country. The minister of Communications Technology, Barr. Adebayo Shittu, confirmed this while delivering his keynote address on Friday, at a one day ICT sensitization workshop for secondary schools in the FCT, organised in collaboration with Totalview Nigeria and the National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA. The Minister, who was represented by the Director of ICT in the ministry, Mrs. Monila Udoh, explained that the plan for the university was to close the digital divide that exists in the country at the moment. According to him, the university, when established, would focus on “training teachers that will in turn go to other schools to train other Nigerians.’’ ‘‘With modern facilities, it would do Nigeria more favour to convert such an institute to a focused ICT university that will train teachers that will go into our schools to train our young people, and then over time graduate highly skilled technocrats that can compete in the global market and create jobs.’’ In his address, the Managing Director of Total View, Mr. Charles Ozoemena, said that part of the aim is not only to inspire the consciousness of school children, on what they can use ICT to achieve as future ICT experts but also strengthen the awareness with a view to catching them young to embrace ICT as part of their growing up. According to a post i read on Facebook yesterday, the guy was explaining that paying interest is virtually not acceptable in ISLAM. He was against borrowing airtime from network providers, banks or cooperative groups. Is this really sin if you borrow from these sets when you have no other choice? Will you rather let someone die when you can borrow from interest-added groups? Please drop your views, God isnt a tormentor. He wants easy lives for us. malton:lools, its only a writer opinion. Can economics displace any of the listed courses?? |
We grew up with the following mentalities below… * All soft drinks are called minerals. * All Fathers took first position while at school. * India beat nigeria 99-1 because the ball was turned into a Lion. * If your wealth starts reducing, it’s your village people who are doing you. * Rice and stew… every Sunday afternoon. * Every commodity outside Africa is original. * Anybody with HIV/AIDS got it via s*x. * She’s a Calabar girl… so definitely, she must be good on bed. * Every seasoning cube is called Maggi. * You must finish the eba/amala/fufu before you touch the meat. * Every toothpaste is called Macleans. * Every insecticide is called a Fleet. * Every detergent is called Omo. * Any rich Hausa man is an ‘Alhaji’, the poor ones are ‘Aboki’. * Anyone who smokes is an armed robber. * If you find some money on the floor, pee on it before picking it up, else you turn into a tuber of Yam!!! * Only science students are smart. * Once you travel overseas (outside the country), you must be very rich. * Every girl who plays and jokes with a boy, has slept with him. * You must buy bread when traveling. * When you lose a tooth, throw it on the roof-top of the house and run round the house 7 times. * Every noodle is called Indomie. * Any girl who’s very pretty is referred to as “Mermaids’ while the very ugly ones are referred to as ‘Witches’. * Any insects that bites you at night are definitely mosquitoes. * Any plane passing across the skies are going to America. To be honest, you’ll accept that some particular set of courses in Nigeria tertiary institutions are actually regarded as the best of all courses. You can’t really blame them though, with the rate of unemployment in Nigeria these courses are the only professions that can lead to a student having a really good Job. Having this in mind, you can see theTop 10 Courses To Study In Nigeriaand give your comments below if you feel otherwise. 1. Medicine: You’re in the science stream and you reveal your choice of institution to your parents, we both know the course they’ll advice you to go for and it is MEDICINE. Advice of course for parents that listen and are understanding for other parents, they’ll most likely force you till JAMB shows them you don’t really like the profession. 2. Pharmacy: The next on the Top 10 Courses To Study In Nigeria is pharmacy . You couldn’t make medicine right, go for the very close one “Pharmacy”. The prestigious faculty of pharmacy, even more prestigious if you’re a pharmacy student in OAU. In case you didn’t know, OAU is actually the first university in Nigeria to have pharmacy as a faculty of it’s own. 3. Law: Yes! The prestigious and proud law students of Nigeria. This doesn’t even require your parents, once you’re in the art class the first thing you fill in as your desired course of study is Law!!!.. I don’t really blame they have the most beautiful girls. I don’t know about your school though, the chances of being employed as a law graduate are large. 4. Electrical / Electronics Engineering: Meet the king of the technology faculty, Elect/Elect is actually a very cool course to study and they have the most intellectual students. I respect the students of this department and am also proud to be one of them. Elect/Elect is really awesome because you can diversify, you can be a great programmer, an electronic expert, sound and network system expert etc. 5. Architecture: Am for once a great fan of this course. For now lets pretend the course isn’t one of the most stressful courses you can ever choose to study, the department is great. Once you’re good you’re GOOD! and they’re probably the students with one of the highest chances of getting a job in this country with an outrageous number of unemployed. 6. Computer Science & Engineering: Computer Science & Engineering is actually one of the best courses a tech student could choose to study. Let’s face it, the world becoming more and more digital everyday. With technology advancement, wireless and computer-based sysyem are fast rising globally, now who do you think controls the future. 7. Nursing: Nursing definitely has to be on the list, without the help of the nurses the burdens on doctors would be extremely great. If you argue otherwise, you definitely haven’t experienced what happens to patients when the nurses in a hospital embark on a strike. Well i know what happens and the doctors would tell you they can’t do it alone. 8. Mechanical Engineering: Some people would disagree on the ranking of Mechanical Engineering on this list because it isn’t just hard to get when trying to get into an institution but it is also very hard to study. So, the reason i kept it on the list is because it isn’t an independent course. How many Mechanical Engineering students have you met that finished school and they decide to Work on their own? Most if not all of them begin searching for Jobs and lets be sincere it’s not easy to come across job opportunities these days. 9. Accounting: So this is like the first commercial course to make the list and no am not being bias, in fact i felt very reluctant to add it to the list. The reason i added it is because that’s the first course that comes to commercial students minds when it’s time to pack their things to the Higher Institution. Before being accused by the accounting students ask yourselves this question, how many of you can be self established without a great amount Capital. 10. Agriculture: The last on the list is the whole faculty of agric. The reason its being ranked 10th on the list is because of the ease with which students can get into the faculty. Soil Science, Animal Science, Agric Econs etc. But when you look at it from the productive aspect of it and the self establishment capabilities, agric is really an amazing course to study. There you have it, Nigeria’s top 10 courses. If you feel otherwise about the other of the ranking, you can drop your thought below. The efficacy and potency of the trio of onions (Allium cepa), garlic (Allium sativum) and ginger (Zingiber officinale) should be known by everybody. It is highly necessary for an individual to know why these three spice-related food items should be included in at least one of each of breakfast, lunch or dinner. Eating these trio foods or one of the three will go a long way in preventing some diseases, preventing someone from visiting the hospital for treatment, thereby spending thousands of naira on treating diseases. Garlic contains at least 33 sulphur compounds like aliin, allicin, ajoene, among others, which all have different health functions in the body. 10 Health benefits of Onions, Garlic and Ginger are listed below 1. Proper breathing:Garlic is good for respiratory challenges especially if a person has asthma. Garlic could be used with avocado leaves and grinded kola nut, which are then mixed together with honey and water. 2. Cure for pneumonia:Pneumonia is a disease often caused by the micro-organisms called bacteria. Bacteria have different shapes and forms like rod, cocci or bacilli. Pneumonia leads to high fever, intense chest pain, fast and shallow breathing, painful, short and dry cough. Grinding some quantities of garlic and mixing it with honey helps cure the disease. 3. Cancer:The efficacy of garlic is so much that it helps to reduce the emergence of cancers (either sarcomas or carcinomas). There is a saying that,“eat a garlic a day and keep the doctor away.” 4. Better eye vision:Onions produce the chemical irritant known as syn-propanethial-S-oxide. This substance stimulates the eyes’ lachrymal glands so they release tears. Scientists used to blame the enzyme allinase for the instability of substances in a cut onion. Syn-propanethial-S-oxide helps to give a better vision to the eyes. 5. Anti-high blood pressure:A good number of Nigerians suffer from high blood pressure and related diseases leading to hypertension or even stroke. The component of someone’s daily food should contain some garlic, either in cooked form, or grinded form or even if it could be chewed. This is because, garlic is a very good anti-high blood pressure spice. 6. Ginger and onions better than vinegar:Someone could decide to cook raw meat with vinegar. It is safer to cook with raw onions and ginger and even with garlic. They make the meat tender, just like vinegar, but they are not processed chemicals like vinegar, since they are in their natural forms. 7. Cure for diabetes:There have reported cases of diabetic patients, whose condition became better, when they started eating garlic on a daily basis. Some of these people, who were hyperglycaemic before they started eating garlic, in no time had the sugar content in their blood reduced as a result of consumption of garlic. 8. Cure for incessant cold and catarrh:Continuous cold, cough and catarrh could be cured by soaking some quantity of sliced onions in a bottle containing some amount of honey. This is then left for at least 8-10 hours in order for it to ferment a bit. The resulting product is very ideal for cough. 9. After meal medicine:Eating ginger after each meal is ideal, as it also reduces the effects of someone coming up with cold, cough and catarrh. 10. Effective purgative:The trio of onions, garlic and ginger could be grinded together and then mixed with some quantity of water, and drunk once in a day. They help to purge or cleanse the digestive system, especially by causing easy evacuation of the bowels. Credits: https://globallords..com/2016/04/10-health-benefits-of-onions-garlic-and.html |

Agriculture is been said to be 'As Old As Man'. Its a major sector in the world economy since it provides food, shelter, raw materials, employment oppurtunities to be cut short. In the olden days, agriculture was the major engagement by our fore-fathers though, its been declining in our esteem country. The recent drop in crude oil price across the globe has once again opened our eye to what we will benefit by shifting our concentration from oil to Agriculture. We've got blessed lands, energetic minds. Its time to reason together so as to solve food insecurity, hunger, unemployment, poverty via agriculture. What (is)are the way(s) forward?? |
MTN has been recently trying to up there game when it comes to data subscription.
