The National Universities Commission has said that limited spaces for admission into Nigerian universities can only accommodate about 30 percent of the 1.7 million candidates who wrote the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in 2017. The NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, said this in Abuja while appearing before the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and Tertiary Education Trust Fund on Wednesday. He also noted that there was a regulatory conflict between the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board and the universities offering admission to candidates. Rasheed said owing to the limited admission spaces in tertiary institutions, an admission crisis was inevitable in the country. He said, “Out of about 1.7 million candidates who took the UTME, it is just about half a million that can be admitted into our universities. The crisis of admission in this country is inevitable. Unless we expand spaces, we shall continue to have an admission crisis in this country. Every examination has its own problem. We believe that the JAMB examination is credible and all of us operating in the system respect the results of the UTME. “It is not about making money for the universities. JAMB is an excellent guide, but you cannot rely on it 100 per cent. There is a need to further examine the candidates for objectivity and to make the entire system credible.” The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, however, said there was no conflict between the board and the universities. Oloyede said most of the candidates who sat for its examination did not have the required qualifications to gain admission. He said, “It is not true that we have 1.7 million candidates that are ready to go into the Nigerian university system. Out of the 1.7 million that took the UTME this year, not more than 30 per cent of them have the five credits in their Senior School Certificate Examination required to go into the university. “About 80 per cent of candidates at the point of sitting do not have the O’Level at all. They are awaiting results. So when we are building our theories and analysis, we need to be very cautious. If you score 400 over 400 and do not have the O’Level, you cannot come into the university.” https://globallords..com/2017/10/only-30-utme-candidates-can-be-admitted.html |

Nail biting is a very common behaviour among human beings, some people do it without even realizing or being conscious. For some people anxiety, reading, watching TV etc can make some start biting their nails! A lot of people revealed it has a calming effect amongst many other reasons people bite their nails. Nail biting apart from ruining the way the nails look come with funny effects too, note that nail biting can also be a symptom of depression or obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). These straight forward effects are reasons to ever bite your nails: 1. Stomach Problems: Biting the nails is the perfect way to transfer germs from the mouth (from the nails) to your guts which can be a big health scare. 2. Nail Infections: Nail biting leaves room for the risk of nail infection. Biting the nails cause tiny tears around the skin near the nails which leave room for infection. 3. It destroys the nail bed: Excessively biting the nails ruins the nail bed. 4. Embattled network provider, Etisalat Nigeria on Thursday 13th July, 2017 changed its name to 9Mobile following the depth crises and other issues affecting the brand in the country. Though, they had promised that smooth operations will not be affected and staffs will not be laid-off, only the name will change and it has been changed. The company's management at the end of a management meeting in Lagos adopted the new Etisalat name "9Mobile". Recall that Etisalat International issued 3 weeks ultimatum to change the name, Now that the name has changed, you should begin to see effect of the name change from your mobile device any moment soon. We should be expecting adverts on media outlets to create awareness to the public and am sure it's just a matter of time before we get used to the new name. As it has been stated earlier, the change in name won't affect your Etisalat line, your data plans, your airtime, your subscriptions or your tariffs as everything is still intact. https://globallords..com/2017/07/embattled-etisalat-change-name-now.html |

Hello, today on Health Talk , we will be talking on the health benefits of taking cucumber. The importance of cucumber in the body can not be overlooked. It is true that most of us just take it for the sweetness most times with out know the good we are doing ourselves. To this effect, we have make research, sort and compile this article to help know the importance of cucumber and how often to eat it. Too much of everything isn't good you know. Below Are Top 7 Health Benefits Of Cucumber Should Know 1. It Helps In Managing Stress: Cucumbers contain multiple B vitamins, including vitamin B1, vitamin B5, and vitamin B7 (biotin). B vitamins are known to help ease feelings of anxiety and buffer some of the damaging effects of stress. 2. Resistance to Inflammation: Cucumbers may help to "cool" the inflammatory response in your body, and animal studies suggest that cucumber extract helps reduce unwanted inflammation, in part by inhibiting the activity of pro-inflammatory enzymes (including cyclo-oxygenase 2, or COX-2).5 3. It Serves As An Anti-oxidant: Cucumbers contain numerous antioxidants, including the well-known vitamin C and beta-carotene. They also contain antioxidant flavonoids, such as quercetin, apigenin, luteolin, and kaempferol,6 which provide additional benefits. For instance, quercetin is an antioxidant that many believe prevents histamine release—making quercetin- rich foods "natural antihistamines." Kaempferol, meanwhile, may help fight cancer and lower your risk of chronic diseases including heart disease. 4. It Improves The Heart Functionality: Cucumbers contain potassium, which is associated with lower blood pressure levels. A proper balance of potassium both inside and outside your cells is crucial for your body to function properly. As an electrolyte, potassium is a positive charged ion that must maintain a certain concentration (about 30 times higher inside than outside your cells) in order to carry out its functions, which includes interacting with sodium to help control nerve impulse transmission, muscle contraction, and heart function. 5. Helps To Freshen Your Breath: Placing a cucumber slice on the roof of your mouth may help to rid your mouth of odor-causing bacteria. According to the principles of Ayurveda, eating cucumbers may also help to release excess heat in your stomach, which is said to be a primary cause of bad breath. 6. It Helps In Maintaining A Balanced Weight: Cucumbers are very low in calories, yet they make a filling snack (one cup of sliced cucumber contains just 16 calories). The soluble fiber in cucumbers dissolves into a gel-like texture in your gut, helping to slow down your digestion. This helps you to feel full longer and is one reason why fiber-rich foods may help with weight control. 7. They Protect The Brain: Cucumbers contain an anti- inflammatory flavonol called fisetin that appears to play an important role in brain health. In addition to improving your memory and protecting your nerve cells from age-related decline, Cucumber is important. http://globallords..com/2017/06/top-7-health-benefits-of-cucumber.html?m=1 |
