Good day, house Please I need clarity on my credit journey. In a quest to ramp up my credit history to position for early mortgage in the UK… - I have tried to upgrade my contract only sim with Vodafone to phone + sim but got declined. - I have tried to open (activate) my Experian account, also got declined because my details can’t be verified. - My credit score with transunion seems to be crawling at 562 after 5 months of being in the UK. - I didn’t qualify for CapitalOne Card. - ClearScore (Equifax) didn’t also give me much product option It’s looking to me like building my credit history will take minimum of 2 years to even begin the journey. Yet I keep seeing people here having fantastic credit score after 5 months of being in the Uk or getting a mortgage after 2 years. My question: What practical steps can I take to ramp up my credit history and position for early mortgage with my short UK residence history? Thanks you 🙏 1 Like |

It’s true, please. Salad Master is so expensive, they don’t display it in any store, they demonstrate to potential rich prospects to sell it. One may never hear of it if you are not in a certain income bracket because the marketers carefully qualify their prospects. I wonder how a “supposed family” member will be wicked enough to force it on people still trying to find their feet in the UK lavida001: 3 Likes 1 Share |

This is all shades of unfair. Because of the space I play in, I know Salad Master cookware very well. It has a lifetime warranty but because it’s so expensive, they don’t display it in any store, the only way they market is by free demonstration. Meaning, they only demonstrate with their set and never with the one they want you to buy. So please know the game they played was a calculated wickedness. Please give this a fight. yolkman20: |

Please use your present place of work as work reference, since that is the truth. Don't over complicate your matter. It's when you are not truthful that you tend to have issues. NB: Many people have used reference from companies not active on CAC and have their visas today. It's your wife that would need to upload your marriage certificate when she is applying. Just mention that you are married and include her details Don0109: |

Please house, can passport be picked on Saturday at TLS Ikeja or one would have to go on Monday? Edit: The answer is “No” according to their website. But I saw people at the centre last Saturday hence why I assume they can return passport at this time too. |

Thanks a lot for this advice. Yes, I had planned to enroll for MSc in Biomedical Science, but the government policy affected my deposit arrangements, hence I missed the deadline. But I will write to HCPC as recommended. I sincerely appreciate you. Gift7428: 1 Like |

Thank you. I appreciate. Embarking on another MSc after the present one is a cost I am not sure I can accommodate at this time though. Is there any other way to onboard a nursing career or even a biomedical science career? I wouldn’t mind a lower band, provided it’s a pathway to sponsorship. A lot of things still look sketchy on this journey and I really want to firm up my plans from the get go. Madeu: |

Thank you very much for your feedback. What about taking some certifications courses even if they are lower band or should I just focus on Biotechnology. When I check the different job sites, Biotech roles are always very few. SIMPLIFIED: |

It’s so unfortunate that you are the one paying for the misbehavior of IOM website. The website has been behaving this way for a while so what most people do is book through email. They will reply you with a new booking date. Send reminders again. If it is urgent, perhaps you might have to go back to their centre with proof so they can reschedule you for a closer date. woffie: |

Please elders in the house, I need your advice. My dream has always been to work in the lab as a medical lab scientist. Due to some factors, I couldn’t get admitted into the course in Nigeria, I had to study medical biochemistry. The conversion course was also stopped in Nigeria so I couldn’t move over. Now, I will be resuming in UK for MSc Biotechnology next month, I have the following questions, please: 1. Is it still worth it pursuing a conversion to Biomedical Science practice in the UK? Is it possible? 2. If yes, how? Are there courses and internship to take to join IBMS, and eventually HCPC so I am ready to take on NHS roles immediately after graduation. 3. Or should I just fully pursue Biotechnology which seems to have limited opportunities and sponsorship in the UK compared to Biomedical Science. Note: The only time I practiced biomedical science was during my IT in Nigeria few years ago. But I have worked in the health/wellness awareness space ever since graduation. Thanks a lot |

Good day NL, Please there is no close biometric date so I am considering a walk in. But I have questions: 1. Apart from paying 44k for walk in, do you also need to pay for assisted service or you can upload before you go? 2. Do I need to pick any date even if it's so far off before I go for walk-in? Thank you |

Thanks a lot for the explanation. I intend to submit the relevant document. I also remember seeing posts of people saying they do further explanation with a cover letter or so, hence why I needed to confirm? Are you saying there is no need explaining with a cover letter or the column for “additional information?” duchess90: |

Please can someone advise on this: I want to clarify the following during my visa application. - Scholarship and an extra deposit made after CAS was received. - Explanation of study gap - Change of name Is it better to include these explanation in the "Additional Information" section of the form or should I write a cover letter to explain them? |

Hello, Nairaland Family, Please can you confirm if it is true that UKVI will give you a UK SIM card at the point of picking up your passport (after a successful student visa application) If yes, what category of people qualify for this and what can I do to qualify? Thank you. |
