Good day, house

Please I need clarity on my credit journey.

In a quest to ramp up my credit history to position for early mortgage in the UK…

- I have tried to upgrade my contract only sim with Vodafone to phone + sim but got declined.

- I have tried to open (activate) my Experian account, also got declined because my details can’t be verified.

- My credit score with transunion seems to be crawling at 562 after 5 months of being in the UK.

- I didn’t qualify for CapitalOne Card.

- ClearScore (Equifax) didn’t also give me much product option

It’s looking to me like building my credit history will take minimum of 2 years to even begin the journey. Yet I keep seeing people here having fantastic credit score after 5 months of being in the Uk or getting a mortgage after 2 years.

My question:
What practical steps can I take to ramp up my credit history and position for early mortgage with my short UK residence history?

Thanks you 🙏

It’s true, please.

Salad Master is so expensive, they don’t display it in any store, they demonstrate to potential rich prospects to sell it.

One may never hear of it if you are not in a certain income bracket because the marketers carefully qualify their prospects.

I wonder how a “supposed family” member will be wicked enough to force it on people still trying to find their feet in the UK

This is all shades of unfair.

Because of the space I play in, I know Salad Master cookware very well.

It has a lifetime warranty but because it’s so expensive, they don’t display it in any store, the only way they market is by free demonstration.

Meaning, they only demonstrate with their set and never with the one they want you to buy.

So please know the game they played was a calculated wickedness.

Please give this a fight.

yolkman20:

I believe my uncle's wife is a friend to the lady who supplies the pot, she works with a company who owns a franchise with salad master. So she brought the pot to her house when my wife was there and as standard, they have to use the pot to cook for you in your house to educate you on how it works
and all of that. We moved it all to our apartment that same night.

We paid for our COS ni o, it wasn't even free.

On spot, you'll them set a DD for monthly payment. The pot itself if 2900 while the total payment after installment is 4200. I have been keeping mute just to avoid issues but it's getting choked.

This is a big no!

You can’t carry over your unused 20 hours quota.

For clarity purpose pls. If you work 18 hrs this week' can you do 21 hours next week and still be compliant with 20 hours cap?

Please house,

Does this require a transit Visa?

Thank you

Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 9 by Globalshaper: 12:49pm On Sep 01, 2023
Please use your present place of work as work reference, since that is the truth.

Don't over complicate your matter.

It's when you are not truthful that you tend to have issues.

NB: Many people have used reference from companies not active on CAC and have their visas today.

It's your wife that would need to upload your marriage certificate when she is applying. Just mention that you are married and include her details

Don0109:
@duchess AND OTHER GURUS IN THE HOUSE,please advice:

In my marriage certificate, my occupation is Tutoring(which is actually the truth) but I am considering using another company for reference and employment to proof the study gap I have because my place of work is not showing "Active" on the CAC website.

Though, I am not going with my wife now but she will join me around Oct/Nov this year. My question is should I use my current place of work as reference even though its status on CAC is Inactive or should I look for another company(in this case, not school) that will do reference and employment letter for me?

If you're proposing the second option, it'll contradict what is on my marriage certificate. Does this matter or not? And am I even going to upload my marriage certificate with my documents??

Lastly, is it advisable to make photocopies of all documents before going for biometrics or go with originals and scan it there?

Pls help.

Please house, can passport be picked on Saturday at TLS Ikeja or one would have to go on Monday?

Edit: The answer is “No” according to their website. But I saw people at the centre last Saturday hence why I assume they can return passport at this time too.

Thanks a lot for this advice.

Yes, I had planned to enroll for MSc in Biomedical Science, but the government policy affected my deposit arrangements, hence I missed the deadline.

But I will write to HCPC as recommended.

I sincerely appreciate you.

Gift7428:
Write to HCPC
Tell them about your intentions
They will be in the best position.
You should have chosen to study biomedical sciences for your masters but anyway just do as above.

Thank you.

I appreciate.

Embarking on another MSc after the present one is a cost I am not sure I can accommodate at this time though.

Is there any other way to onboard a nursing career or even a biomedical science career? I wouldn’t mind a lower band, provided it’s a pathway to sponsorship.

A lot of things still look sketchy on this journey and I really want to firm up my plans from the get go.

Madeu:

Why not Prereg Nursing? Easy to get sponsorship. Not worth it.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

What about taking some certifications courses even if they are lower band or should I just focus on Biotechnology.

When I check the different job sites, Biotech roles are always very few.

SIMPLIFIED:
you would have applied for msc in Biomedical science, towards completing the program you write to HCPC and they verify your undergraduate transcript, Msc transcript then tell you the top up modules needed to meet requirement for registration as a BMS in Biochemistry. When you do the top up modules from them you can now apply for trainee BMS position which is like the equivalent of internship we do here as MLS, from there you can now be fully registered. I don't think the courses you will take with Msc biotech will fit into HCPC courses at all.

It’s so unfortunate that you are the one paying for the misbehavior of IOM website.

The website has been behaving this way for a while so what most people do is book through email.

They will reply you with a new booking date. Send reminders again. If it is urgent, perhaps you might have to go back to their centre with proof so they can reschedule you for a closer date.

woffie:
Good morning to everyone...Am going through some difficult time with IOM and I know am not the only one in this,I was able to book my TB test last week(9th of August) and I was scheduled for 14th August,I made transfer to the account rolled out by their customer care (Standard Chartered Bank) and message them with the Booking appointment confirmation message and payment receipt, till the booking day they didn't get back to me so I went to IOM on that Monday (14th August) but we were told we are holding draft appointment not yet confirmed (over 50persons were in this on that Monday) We were told to go back home and message them with our passports and payment confirmation and I did email them on that Monday they replied me on Tuesday to send my passports in PDF format which I did immediately and till now they haven't reply me even after sending messages everyday till this morning nothing yet... Pls if anyone know what else I can do or anyone who's in the same situation like mine and have been able to solve the problem. 😠😡

Please elders in the house, I need your advice.

My dream has always been to work in the lab as a medical lab scientist. Due to some factors, I couldn’t get admitted into the course in Nigeria, I had to study medical biochemistry.

The conversion course was also stopped in Nigeria so I couldn’t move over.

Now, I will be resuming in UK for MSc Biotechnology next month, I have the following questions, please:

1. Is it still worth it pursuing a conversion to Biomedical Science practice in the UK? Is it possible?

2. If yes, how? Are there courses and internship to take to join IBMS, and eventually HCPC so I am ready to take on NHS roles immediately after graduation.

3. Or should I just fully pursue Biotechnology which seems to have limited opportunities and sponsorship in the UK compared to Biomedical Science.

Note: The only time I practiced biomedical science was during my IT in Nigeria few years ago. But I have worked in the health/wellness awareness space ever since graduation.

Thanks a lot

Good day NL,

Please there is no close biometric date so I am considering a walk in.

But I have questions:

1. Apart from paying 44k for walk in, do you also need to pay for assisted service or you can upload before you go?

2. Do I need to pick any date even if it's so far off before I go for walk-in?

Thank you

Thanks a lot for the explanation.

I intend to submit the relevant document. I also remember seeing posts of people saying they do further explanation with a cover letter or so, hence why I needed to confirm?

Are you saying there is no need explaining with a cover letter or the column for “additional information?”

duchess90:
Hello

These are 3 different issues and will have evidence for each of them

Just upload them in the relevant documents section

Please can someone advise on this:

I want to clarify the following during my visa application.

- Scholarship and an extra deposit made after CAS was received.
- Explanation of study gap
- Change of name

Is it better to include these explanation in the "Additional Information" section of the form or should I write a cover letter to explain them?

Good day NL

Please my GT USD card will take another 3 working days before it can be ready for pick up.

I wouldn't want to wait that long as I am pressed for time to apply for Visa and pay for IHS.

Please can I use my Chipper Virtual Dollar card to pay?

If yes, what should I take cognisance of while doing it?

Many thanks

Hello, Nairaland Family,

Please can you confirm if it is true that UKVI will give you a UK SIM card at the point of picking up your passport (after a successful student visa application)

If yes, what category of people qualify for this and what can I do to qualify?

Thank you.
