The ICC should be fully utilized and busy before you build a hotel otherwise that hotel will be a waste of money and that's speaking as a businessman. The location of the ICC itself is isolated from the town. If the ICC is lonely few will want to lodge in its grounds.

ANSG should focus on utilizing the ICC fully by partnering with a proper events management company not one connected to government officials. Ensure one event per week.

Comparing Awka to Nairobi or Kigali is exaggeration. Nairobi hosts UNEP and has for over 40 years been a regional center for aid agencies. There are over 50,000 whites living in NBI more than in Lagos and Abuja combined. Kigali in the aftermath of genocide had over 100 foreign NGOs working there and the country receives billions in aid support.

Awka has to design it's own narrative within the regional and national context. If I were ANSG, the play should be the premier business services city in the East.

What do I mean by business services? Awka should be hosting regional banking and finance, insurance, telecommunications, research institutes, advertising, ICT firms. Basically catering to the knowledge economy.

None of the Eastern states are doing this particularly well. Awka would need to show a high level of sophistication to attract this type of activity and the government has its work cut out to stamp out cultism, the chaotic transport system, the unruly market in the center of the town.

Soludo at least is building roads that showcase sophistication but he has to tackle the transport sector and deal with unruly hawkers.

Stop talking ignorant rubbish every time. The location of ICC is what can be descibed as the new Awka. There is APGA regional headquarters just opposite it, there is Awka Millenium City close by, the shopping Mall of which the construction will begin early next year, Solution Fun city, together with the new 10 storey hotel not to mention there is already a Hotel nearby.

All these are located in less than 10 mins from the ICC location besides it connects easily to the old Awka via Ziks Avenue and the other part of Awka via the expressway. Sometimes you just listen and not quick to say ignorant rubbish.

Apart from Obiano's physical infrastructural projects, he heavily invested in human resources improvement and poverty alleviation projects to reduce poverty in Anambra.

Conversely Umahi used money which could have been wisely invested in education, agriculture and Healthcare to build too many flyovers at irrelevant junctions. This is not to say his countless multicolored flyovers are a bad thing. But if you consider that he ruled the state with the worst poverty in Southern Nigeria and one of the least human development index in Nigeria, his multicolored flyovers where there were no traffic becomes a tragic misuse of public wealth. While we have praised Umahi for doing many concrete roads to ease accessibility to rural parts of Ebonyi state. I believe the money he spent on too many flyovers where there were no traffic gridlock as a tragic waste of precious state resources.

Unike Wike that also built multiple flyovers because he ruled a state with serious traffic problems and relatively more wealthy citizens. Umahi had no such problems. Yet he acted like he had some inferiority complex that flyovers were a symbol of development and to prove Ebonyi was developed he had to have more flyovers. Thus he went on a flyover building spree while other areas of human development suffered.. Umahi's only useful projects are the concrete roads, Abakaliki mall and airport. Even at that it is questionable if those projects will be viable due to the crushing poverty rate in his state. That is why I praise Umahi and bash him sometimes for doing nothing on the poverty alleviation front.Overall I rate Umahi as a great transformative governor, but he could easily have been the greatest Igbo governor since 1999 and done better on all fronts not just on physical infrastructure, and thus be rated as a well rounded governor.

Don't mind these fools. I only blame Obiano for not being ambitious, thats why they did everything to diminish all his great works. Now that they have seen a governor that wont tolerate such they have become quiet. Even Obi their leader is now praying for Soludo to succeeed as against when he was publicly attacking Obiano.

I always say it that Umahi is too little to compare to Obiano. It was Obiano that inspired umahi to start building flyovers, it was obiano that inspired Umahi to build an airport. We all know when umahi started working. Anambra just joined the list of Oil producing state and in the last figures released, Anambra received over 4 billion in revenue from derivation. This was what Obiano promised before he became governor and was able to achieve it. Other states that laid claim to oil deposits have not been successful. Like I always say, every governor will build roads but not every governor will dare take on things Obiano did for the state.

Is it IGR, is it workers welfare, a lot of Ebonyi workers are being owed salaries.. Only a fool will compare Obiano to umahi. I respect Umahi but anyone comparing him to obiano should stop.
