That is exactly what I wanted as in your pic posted above. Since a friend in Ondo State did the same for about 200k about two years ago and the grass look very nice, but everything always get K-leg in Lagos/Ogun. Instead of paying N1.5m for grass, I will rather put a concrete foundation there awaiting to be built in some years to come. I want green but not that bad. Thank you.

Hajji M.
You may be right, the t depends on individual taste, choices, and needs.

My flower man come in quarterly to do maintenance (at N15k pere) but I canceled the arrangement when I found out that he was selling the grass he pack from my compound.

I was actually paying him to cut, pack and sell my grass. undecided
Lol bros...hahahahah...he might not get sales for the grass all the time because the grass won't survive more than 3 to 4 days before they die too. They are waste also if he doesn't get someone that needs it urgently.

2500/sqm is not bad. It’s cheaper when they do it for you.

I did about same amount last December in Ogun state.
You're right Sir. That #2500 price is still okay

Does lemon grass really wade of snakes?
It doesn't sir. Even the tobacco leave we heard of when we were kids does not repel snakes. There is a liquid chemical that repel snakes. Just spray it around your compound, and no snake will stay around again..

We are lucky to be living in this age where many things can be learnt online. There's no excuse. If planting grass lawn is rocket science to some people then I'm afraid we'll forever be stuck in mediocrity in this part of the world. It's a simple grass lawn for God's sake, nobe nuclear reactor.
Planting grass is not rocket science, but you can't compare the US, Canada and other countries with Nigeria. Their soil type, climate, weeds differs from ours here in Nigeria. I have a client about three years ago, I gave him a quotate for grass planting in his compound he said the price is high and he will ship the top soil, grass seed, and manure, and we'll do tue planting. I told him to bring it so we can experiment it and see the results before he would bring in more. He brought two bags of grass seeds. I told him to let us clear about 50 sqm area of land to plant the grass seeds to test it, his aboki watered it from time to time. He was around for about two months, thank God he saw the results himself. Some germinated but was overwhelmed by weeds. No amount of weeds killer we applied before pre-planting, it didn't work out well. The soil, climate, and weeds differs. It might work well over there but here it won't.

He planted it over there and they were survived without weeds in between the grasses.

We later applied the system we use often here after a year i.e. transplanting. The grass seed is good but it won't do well here due to the factors I mentioned above.

If you have any further clarification, I will be available, thanks.

How can one maintain carpet grass when it’s overgrown? It can’t be mowed and it’s not looking nice again.
You can use the hand cut machine to cut it because mower machine won't cut it well because they do not grow evenly.

What kind of grass is recommended for Nigerian weather? I mean, if I am looking at getting a new lawn, what kind of grass should I be looking at?
There are few grasses here and the common name for them are Portharcourt grass, water grass and carpet grass. The most rugged among them is the Portharcourt one.

The common name for it here is Portharcourt. It is rugged and can withstand harsh weather and if not we'll watered during the day season it will survive till next raining season.

This is a typical Victorian castle. Very common in England/Ireland and other parts of Europe. It is not a rocket science. The issue will be on the landscaping as landscape architecture is a scarce profession in Nigeria. But I think if well motivated, Brabus or Skimanski may make it happen. The carpet grass on the walls are easily found here as I planted it near my fence wall and they are circulating already. Though It does take time to cover the whole area.
It is not about maintenance....

People like what they like... there's nothing wrong with that. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

As it happens, my eyes doesn't seem to behold the beauty of creepy carpet grass. grin[/quote

I think the general problem we have in Nigeria is lack of maintenance culture. You can't compare the beauty an aesthetic lawn and flowers will add to the beauty of the house to that of concrete. Majority of people like natural grass and it's smoothness but the maintenance is what we lack as a nation and individual. There is life in nature...
It is just because human lives are nothing to our leaders in Nigeria. A single soul is important to America like a soul is important to France. I could remembered a case of shooting in one school while less than 10 people lost their lives, their president came on air to address the nation to be calm, but here in Nigeria our leaders keep playing politics with citizen's lives at will.

We need to look for a solution to the problem not to escalate it. God bless Nigeria

Unfortunately these pictures sum up Nigeria, but wetin concern me, this country is dead and should be buried.
That would have been the best thing to do. But unfortunately, the people who are suppose to make the laws won't do it because it will affect them. The best thing is to place our law makers on wages that won't make the office attractive anymore.

COMPAQ:
The best way to sustain rail in nigeria going forward will be to form a holding company to manage the tracks, while private companies run rail services. Same way airports belong to government and private airlines operate.

If we expect govt to run everything, trust me in 5years the entire investment would have gone down the drain.
You're very correct. Nigerian lacks maintenance culture, as a matter of fact that instinct has affected many of us even in our private lives. From tenants to landlords, and government as a whole.

See how people changes with time. At 7 years interval, he has forgotten what he agitated for. Majority of those who find themselves in the position of leadership in Nigeria are mere opportunist. None have interest of this country or serve the people with their inner heart. What they are seeing or presently eating determines what they voice out at any point in time.

As the qholw world celebrate the most important people on Earth today, I say we fathers are:

- someone who hides his pains for you to enjoy
- someone who live for you to be happy
- the most precious being God ever created
- someone who guides you in the right path
- someone who shows thoughtfulness in things we do and say.

Happy father's day to all fathers out there.
