There are some who are inclined to argue about the tithe. They say it is not taught in the New Testament.

In Matt. 23:23 Jesus said, "Ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone."

"These ought ye to have done," refers to the first statement, "Ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummim" No one says the tithe is the most important. Judgment, mercy, and faith are greater than tithing; but Jesus endorsed both.

Jesus Mentioned Tithe Once

Some would ask the question, "Did Jesus mention it anywhere else?"

We must answer, "No." There are two records of this same statement, but this is the only time the Master ever mentioned directly or used the word tithe.

Does that weaken the argument? No. How many times should Jesus mention a thing to make it true? The only time He ever mentioned it, He said, "Ye ought to tithe," and that is just as binding as though He had mentioned it in every chapter of the Gospels.

The very tenor of Paul's message to the Jewish Christians in Heb. 7:1-10 is an endorsement of the tithe.

The statement, "Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come," suggests taking the tithe from our weekly income for the storehouse of God.

Back to my first post, what do you say about it?

Dear Friends.

Don't get me wrong, am a regular tither and i believe in tithing. I attend a church in Lagos and am an active member of the church. Yesterday, i attended a missionary program and when i saw what some brothers and sisters are going through to get someone to hear about Jesus, my heart melted. I have a passion for mission and to support , these missionaries do not even get paid. Am thinking, why do churches in the cites waste money to invite people to church when these people they are trying to reach hear the word everyday, on TV, radio, in the bus, newsprint etc?? while some people are risking their lives to make sure some other people get to hear the name Jesus, and yet do not get financial support for their ventures

My question is this, is it right for me to split my tithe, pay a part to the missionary institution (church) and the rest to my local church?

This is kind of tough.
But i would suggest that if she is close to her pastor and can trust the pastor, then she can confess to the pastor and let him pray for her.
Am sure if she is really sorrowful God will definitely forgive her.

I would not advise her to tell her husband for now cos it will lead to more damages.

But this lady MUST end this affair and try not to be alone with this boss of course except during official hours. She should also desist from receiving gifts from him.

A piece of Advise for Jay


Mr Jay, haba, how could you have suddenly forgotten the love and passion you have for your lovely wife? Remember when you used woo her, and when she later said yes, you were flabbergasted and overwhelmed. Wow! i knew how it felt. Now just some few years into marriage with two beautiful lovely kids and probably her shape is not as sexy as it used to be, you are now considering another person.

Remember, this other lady you are in love with now is not yet married and does not understand commitment and what it means to cook, love, and cater for a man with two lovely daughters . Jay remember that this your new found love has not gone to the labor room once talk less of twice. she doesn't understand laboring to give birth to new lives.

In as much as i understand that your wife may have her mistakes am so sure that this your new love is filled with issues as well, its just that you are so blinded by 'love' that you have failed to notice them.

Please Jay, remember that passionate love is not enough for marriage. Marriage is for men and am sure you are one, Do not allow this passing fancy to dissuade you from your destiny.

This is what a lot of married men go through, but some of us have decided not to be distracted and continue to shower all our love on our wives. Whether they behave well or not, they are our wives and we love them.

Jay, do not fail us, wake up and take up this responsibility before you allow your lustful passion destroy what God has given you, a home and a Family.

First of all, i appreciate everyone that has said something on this topic, it really shows our passion for our great nation.

Pastor Tunde Bakare, first is a Nigerian and he has the full right to contest for the office of the president like any other Nigerian irrespective of their vocation or profession. He is also a pastor by calling and who says pastors should not rule? Recall that God deals with each and everyone of us differently. David was priest and yet he was also a king in Israel. (study your scriptures)

Why should we blame him for setting up a pressure group? or why he is so much interested in the politics of this nation? Remember we are all bunch of crazy people, its just that we are crazy for different things per time. So lets leave PT alone.

Personally, I love the teaching of Pastor Tunde and if God should tell him contest, i will definitely support and vote for him
