Politics / Re: Do Nigerians Need To Learn Chinese? by GNaija: 1:25pm On Dec 26, 2010
@Invisible, it is about need. Even Nigerians don't conduct national business in yoruba or any of the other nigerian languages so how would it help the Chinese to learn yoruba? Nobody is saying every nigerian should learn Chinese, we are talking about key people, particularly those who represent vital national interest like the multi-billion dollar oil deals that have been recently signed with China.
Politics / Re: Do Nigerians Need To Learn Chinese? by GNaija: 10:55pm On Dec 24, 2010
Exactly. It is about being able to understand what the Chinese are saying during trade negotiations. Yes, Nigerians can get translators but how would you know if he/she was not misleading you?

Prof Chan has represented African countries in trade negotiations with China, so, he know what he is talking about. Please let's listen and learn rather than argue pointlessly.

You have missed the point. Nobody is saying you should change Nigeria's national language from English to Chinese. That is not necessary. However, the government should add Chinese to the list of languages studied in schools, universities, especially on courses like international relations, international business etc, so that Nigeria would have a significant number of people who can speak Chinese fluently and give Nigeria an advantage.

America, UK etc have not changed their language from English, have they? No, but they have children as young at 5 learning Chinese because they are thinking strategically.

When Hausaland becomes the fastest growing and second largest economy in the world, trust me, Oyibo people will be rushing to learn Hausa. Open your mind and learn to think and behave like the rich man does if you want to be rich.

This isn't a laughing matter. Nigerians need to proactive, rather than reactive. The western world, despite their development and wealth, are learning Chinese to give them an advantage when seeking and negotiating new business opportunities with China. Africa, on the other hand, has only 5 universities that teach Chinese.

We need to wake up quickly and learn how the world works.

Prof. Chan OBE, during his interview with GNTV, said the Chinese know more about Africa than Africa knows about the Chinese and suggested Africans learn chinese, so they can understand what the Chinese are saying in secret.

Politics / Re: Al Mustapha Freed by GNaija: 11:13pm On Dec 21, 2010
The trial of Al Mustapha is shameful and should be completely ended immediately. If the Government prosecutors can't prove a simple case after years and years of trying then they have no case and are simplying violating human right laws.

Please! Arrest the major bribe takers, i.e. the 3 former heads of state, in Nigeria first then we'll know the EFCC is interrested in arresting Cheney.

GreatNigeria.tv provides a platform for Nigerians to tell their own stories and inspire Nigeria to greatness.

We have a vision of a great nation, where the leaders are accountable to the people, the resources are managed efficiently and the citizens are subject to the rule of law. A nation that takes care of its poor, its sick, and it’s underprivileged. A nation that looks to its future through education and provides adequate resources for the development of its youth. A nation that does not undermine its citizens’ constitutional rights; the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. A nation where the citizens can democratically elect a government without fear of cheating, molestation or vote-tampering.

Nigeria is a nation endowed with abundant resources; vast oils reserves and huge human potential. However, decades of corrupt governance and mismanagement left most of its infrastructure dilapidated. Successive governments have failed to provide and protect fundamental human rights such as free and fair elections, security of life and property, and basic amenities like electricity and water. GreatNigeria.tv wants to play a part in inspiring fundamental change in Nigeria, and the growing reach and influence of the internet provides this opportunity. Our mission is to inspire change in Nigeria using video documentaries, debates, interviews and discussions forums. We cover everything from politics to arts & culture. We believe in telling our own stories. We believe in providing Nigerians with a platform to tell their own stories; stories of failure to inspire change, and stories of success to recognize and applaud behaviours that contribute to national pride. We want to see a Nigerian proud of his nation but more importantly, we want to see a Nigerian live, so that the nation will be proud of him.

GreatNigeria.tv will harness the power of internet broadcasting to inspire this change we seek by providing a platform for Nigeria’s growing army of independent reporters to tell their stories. The website is not just a video library; it is a virtual community that brings together Nigerians from across the globe with a common goal to inspire our nation to greatness.
