So, after the 9months, you didn't tell us what will happen. You mean abokis will not be able to hold USD anymore? Will the banks make it easy for Nigerians to access the USD? Bankers are more corrupt, after Inec. Yes. I am correct
I graduated and worked in a bank. Left the system in 2014 have have been in business since then. Currently, my duplex will be ready on or before December. I am not leaving Nigeria because I am hungry or looking for a greener pasture. No. I am leaving because this country does not allow me and my children to maximise our potentials.
Our lives are not safe and guaranteed. Death trap everywhere. Drugs are fake. Doctors exploit patients. Schools take bribes to give you admission. Jobs are never gotten if you have not "Abraham".
What dreams are you really living to fulfil in this country.
OMG 😱
jaxxy: Fuel issues as small as it can seem sometimes can ruin ur whole day and program. I would have said why didn't u get enough fuel the the night b4 knowing u have an early morning meeting but then should fuel be hard to get in a civilised country not to talk of oil producing country with the biggest refinery in Africa?
I'm sorry to say but Naija is in wrong hands and only God and angry Nigerians can deliver us.
Indeed, this is a place of like minds. Am seriously working on my own japa project. By God's grace, before November next year, I'll be running my MSc in Canada. My family will join me later.
RealLordZeus: We are in the same boat.. The funny part is, all my friends that have Japa'd while I was reiterating my love for the fatherland now mock me almost on a daily basis.
To make matter worse, I could conveniently relocate my family then, but now the cost of relocating myself gan don pass my head...
Inflation has eroded all the gains saved.. I am tired.
• I paid commission to exchange my US dollars to Swedish krone! Foreign currency is actually not craved for here like we do in Africa
• Everyone is helpful, nice & kind. Can give up their food for you. Their social welfare system is the best in the world.
• It's a totally cashless economy here. Yes, you actually dont need a paper money. Everything is digitalized including buying anything!
• Everyone works. The bills are crazy so any krones is needed. The Swedes are naturally, big, brawny, smart and strong. So working hard is never a problem.
* Work resumes by 10 am here due to weather changes. I mean formal jobs, not non skilled jobs.
• During summer, the sun doesn't go down. Meaning, there's no night. You can get sick due to body adopting these time changes. My first night i Stockholm, i slept around 1am without knowing its that late.
• Its really stable here. Count your self lucky like me if you have access to Sweden, it takes a lot to get their papers! Their paper can straighten out some shits in your life. I am a testimony.
• Stockholm is an idea City to raise up a child as everything is cool, lovely and good! World class primary & secondary schooling FREE.
• Crime rate is really low. Yahoo, fraud or other social vices can not work here. You will be caught easily as there are traits to everything you do
• Swedes are normally thieves, they are the original Vikings or sea faring thieves of past, so to curb that natural trait to steal, the government has done a lot to ensure everything can be tranced, this gave rise to a cashless, contactless economy that has proved to very efficient! In order words, it has made the Swedes to be law abiding because off what use is it to steal when you know you will be caught? Well, their prison is better than most average homes in Africa!
• Transportation is relatively fixed. For 3.9$ (39SEK) you can get a ride on the bullet train to anywhere in Stockholm for 75minutes. No other fee applies.
• Beside Rent, food, anyone can survive in Stockholm without much of a deal! With a Salary of $3000 per month, you'd live like a king! Especially if you work remotely!
• You don't really need public transport/a car to move around city, except you are hopping from one island to another. A scooter or bicycle would be more helpful!
• Swedes are Innovative, they have customized bicycles to various roles in the house, or work.
• I prefer living in Stockholm than anywhere in USA or Canada.
• The gap between rich and poor is low compared to France or UK. Here the richest man might be that fellow riding an electric scooter, or drinking low beer with you in the pub.
• Most houses in Stockholm do not have physical keys... They use codes type into the door to open. So if you have no business there, you gat no reason
• Almost everyone drives a bicycle, or scooter to move from one place to another.
• Sweden is really expensive to live in, but has one of the highest quality of life you can imagine.
• Everyone drink tap water. It's squeaky clean & safe. pH value is almost 7.0 on the dot!
• I met several Nigerians, most of them left Italy to reside here. They're always preferred before other African nationalities.
Thanks for telling us the cons, we'd also like to hear or read about the pros so we can make a valid opinion
At first I loved what I saw - free education, beautiful and abundant nature -even in the cities, well designed communities with plenty of free facilities, many free community activities and a strong commitment to sustainability.
However after living here a few years I began to notice that some things are very wrong and Sweden is not the paradise it appears to be at first glance. Here is my list of the biggest issues as I see them:
Firstly, there is no consumer choice. Generic and expensive goods line the same few large supermarket type shops. Small business is virtually nonexistent aside from the awful pizza/kebab, Asian food or hotdog/ hamburger stalls run by entrepeneurial immigrants. Customer service and special requests are also non existent. Innovation, warmth, product knowledge and creativity are strongly lacking in the commercial sector.
Immigrants are welcomed, with racism frowned upon harshly, however once these immigrants arrive they are segregated off away from the native Swedes, unable to find employment and unable to navigate the endless complex rule systems with strong risks of being persecuted by the social services. The ‘welcoming’ Swedes dont allow their children to set foot in immigrant suburbs or schools, and wonder why there is very little integration happening.
Swedish people are very unfriendly, closed minded and conforming. It is almost impossible to form close friendships. Winter is like hell. The first few months feel cosy and the snow is beautiful, but eventually the darkness, cold and boredom start wearing you down.
There are endless trivial rules which are harshly enforced. I wanted to get my licence in Sweden, but ticked a box on the licence form which asked about health issues. I have had declining kidney function (very irrelevant to driving) so I noted it down. I was unable to get a licence (I have been driving 15 years, but my Australian licence is not recognised here after the first year) because I needed a certificate from a kidney specialist. I was unable to be referred to a kidney specialist because my kidney function is not severely declined. When attempting to fix the issue - rules are rules, and thats simply the way it is. The issue is unable to be resolved so I am allowed to drive in neighbouring countries, but not here. Attempting to live here is filled with many similar incredibly frustrating experiences. Banks wont let you open an account except on weekday mornings, but dont let you know that until you have waited in a queue for several hours. There is no other option even if you work or study on weekday mornings, and nobody cares. Every simple process is a beaurocratic nightmare
Whilst at first I believed the free schools, childcare and medical services were a great family friendly policy, on closer interaction in the system I realised this is a system of control and incompetence which is not leading to positive outcomes. Firstly, everyone is expected to take their children to daycare and go to work.
There is no freedom of choice to look after your children, homeschool or rear your children according to your beliefs and values. Children are informed about endless rights, and have no obligations to behave in a respectful manner. Parents are powerless, teachers are powerless and getting an education in a swedish school is a debacle of children on phones and talking during class, swearing at teachers, abusing and bullying each other and any form of punishment towards unruly children is disallowed. School is somewhat reminiscent of lord of the flies.
Police are useless - except with regard to prosecuting minor crimes such as parking fines. Fewer than 3% of crimes are solved, reports are filed but never investigated - even with matters which are taken very seriously in the rest of the world such as violent crime and rape.
Whilst medical care is generally free to low cost, the wait times are insane. It could be 3 weeks to see your GP (too bad if the matter is urgent) and 10 months to see a specialist. Specialists are allowed to refuse referrals, and if you have a chronic illness you are likely in the wrong country.
So guys if you want to immigrate always think about the Pros & Cons so you won't regret!!!
But, I am still wondering how they in the South East are doing it. Despite that they have the lowest health facility, yet, they have the lowest mortality rate in the country.
This is wonderful. Unfortunately, most Nigerians want to enjoy this but we can't because we are poor and can't afford them .
Only if IVM can start some credit schemes directly, and not through any 3rd party, so credible Nigerians can enjoy good life.
ricson11: This is the first made in Nigeria electric vehicle and it was produced by “Innoson Vehicles” in their manufacturing plant in Nnewi, Anambra State.
The only way their effort can be seen is by them arresting Tinubu for running the country dry Paying subsidy to himself, having 15 oil wells, selling oil to his company in Malta and selling it back to his OANDO company and then selling to Nigerians at high cost
Glimpsetv: Several pictures of some young Fulani guys surfaced online recently displaying the huge cash they earned as ransom for Kidnapped victims. This got people talking and wondering why the Nigerian police has not swung into action. However, in reaction to the viral photos of Fulani herdsmen showing off alleged ransom money, the Force PRO says” “Police can’t arrest all criminals at once,"
Pls my brother, when you were travelling to Togo, abi Benin, how do you manage your calls? I mean, do you roam your line? Do you have network there? When they call you, do you receive the calls? What about your data? Does it work?
Pls let me know, cos I'll be going to Togo tomorrow. I really am worried about the calls I may miss
Bitterkola100: been quite a while i used that route, but from mile 2 to togo can't be more than 30 to 40k.
It use to be from 10 to 18k during jonathan govt. There's a river at the back of festcac estate, the river terminates in benin republic, i normally take that route then, its easier, cheaper and faster for me, unfortunately i don't know what the river is called.
