But it's clear they ain't ready to follow their law which is why we are Africans. Law or no law you'll be identified by your paternal root as an African
what do you mean they ain't ready to follow their law?

What about Nigerians born in Europe that are representing these countries in several sporting events without any problem

Her parents, a Nigerian father and Mozambican mother both permanent residency permit holders gave birth to her there which is one of the requirements to be regarded as south African

It doesn't make her a south African simply because she was born there. I take side with them on this
according to south Africa nationality law, You automatically qualify for South African citizenship if:

1.you are born in South Africa and at least one of your parents is a South African citizen or SA permanent residency permit holder.

2. if you are adopted by a South African citizen.

Minister of sport, arts and culture Gayton McKenzie has entered the debate surrounding Miss South Africa contestant Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina's eligibility to compete for the title.

Adetshina has been subjected to scrutiny on social media due to her bloodline. She is a South African, born at Soweto's Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital to a Nigerian father and a mother of Mozambican descent.

Many people have questioned her eligibility to contest Miss SA despite being born in South Africa. The debate intensified this week after a video of Adetshina with people, some dressed in Nigerian traditional clothing and celebrating her success in the competition, surfaced online, further fuelling the argument that she was not “South African enough” to compete for the title.

Some people on social media called for McKenzie to intervene. Known for his outspoken views on social media, McKenzie expressed concern about Adetshina's participation, saying he would look into the matter.

I just returned from Paris and will definitely get more information. We truly cannot have Nigerians competing in our Miss SA competition. I want to get all the facts before I comment, but it gives funny vibes already,” McKenzie tweeted.
ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba also joined the debate.

This young woman is compromising herself by identifying with characters who are likely in South Africa illegally. Bad idea,” Mashaba said on X.
EFF leader Julius Malema spoke about the matter during the party's podcast interview last week.

Your citizenship is determined by where you were born, so if she was born here, she’s South African. It doesn’t matter. She’s not her parents, she’s herself. So why say she’s from Nigeria or Mozambique? She was born here,” he said.

“We cannot punish people based on where their parents come from. I’ve not followed the debate closely, but I would assume Miss SA has done the necessary due diligence and determined she is a suitable candidate.

“These are issues stirred up by those who spread hate among Africans. Such people should not be supported.”
The controversy started when Adetshina mentioned her parents were not from South Africa in her Miss SA entry video. She is in the top 11, and the criticism has become more intense as she moves closer to the crown.

The Miss SA organisation is yet to issue a formal statement on the matter. However, it has emphasised its strict requirements on its website regarding Miss SA entries: “Miss South Africa entrants must be South African citizens and in possession of a valid South African ID or passport. If an applicant holds dual citizenship, they must provide details of both on the entry form.

“By entering to compete for the title of Miss South Africa 2024, you will be required to consent to and authorise the Miss South Africa organisation to conduct a psychological wellbeing assessment, including resilience testing and background checks to verify the information provided in your entry form, as well as confirmation that you are an upstanding citizen worthy of representing the country.”

With one week remaining to the official crowning of Miss SA, a petition has been launched to remove Adetshina from the competition.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has threatened that his country may take military action against Israel if the conflict in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas is not quickly resolved.

Erdogan made the statement during a campaign rally for his Justice and Development Party (AKP) on Sunday, reiterating his country's support for the Palestinian cause and warning of potential intervention, RT reports.

We must be very strong so that Israel cannot strike Palestine,” Erdogan stated. “Just like we entered Karabakh and the way we entered Libya, maybe we'll do the same thing. There’s nothing we can’t do. We have to be strong.”

Turkish President Erdogan highlighted Ankara's involvement in the Libyan civil war and the recent Karabakh conflict, where Azerbaijan, backed by Türkiye and Israel, regained control over the disputed region.

Notably, Erdogan's comments suggest direct Turkish military participation in the Karabakh hostilities, previously unreported. While Erdogan has been a vocal supporter of the Palestinian cause, he has refrained from threatening direct action against Israel.

However, his recent remarks come amid escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, which have been engaged in low-intensity warfare since the Gaza conflict. The situation risks escalating into full-scale war, with Israel and Hezbollah locked in a volatile standoff.

Israel has blamed Hezbollah, a Lebanon-based Islamist group, for firing a rocket that struck a football field in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights in Syria, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 teenagers and children, mostly of Syrian Druze descent, and injuring around 20 others.

However, Hezbollah has vehemently denied involvement, suggesting instead that the impact was caused by a malfunctioning Israeli Iron Dome interceptor missile.

Meanwhile, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz issued a stern warning to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, cautioning that any attempt to intervene in the Gaza conflict could lead to a fate similar to that of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, who was ousted and executed.

In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Katz wrote, “Erdogan follows in the footsteps of Saddam Hussein and threatens to attack Israel. Just let him remember what happened there and how it ended.

Opposition candidate cannot win presidential election in countries like Venezuela, Uganda, Rwanda, Cameroon, Russia, china, North Korea, etc, it will always be an exercise in futility

Venezuela has the largest oil reserves on earth, estimated to be more than 300 billion barrels but the people in that country are extremely poor, venezuelans go through difficult journey to enter USA through the southern border while their president and his cronies live lavishly

Nicolas Maduro has nothing to offer his people, winning the third term can only be possible through rigging.
Foreign AffairsVenezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro Wins Third Term by God1000(op): 9:32am On Jul 29, 2024
Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro won re-election with 51.2 percent of votes cast Sunday, the electoral council announced, after a campaign tainted by claims of opposition intimidation and fears of fraud.

The President of the CNE electoral body, Elvis Amoroso, in its majority loyal to the government, told reporters 44.2 percent of votes had gone to opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia.

Independent polls had predicted Sunday’s vote would bring an end to 25 years of “Chavismo”, the populist movement founded by Maduro’s socialist predecessor and mentor, the late Hugo Chavez.

Maduro, 61, addressed supporters minutes after the announcement, saying: “There will be peace, stability and justice.”

As his supporters celebrated, downcast opposition voters waited to hear from Gonzalez Urrutia and opposition leader Maria Corina Machado.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken immediately expressed “serious concerns” that the result did not reflect the will of Venezuelan voters.

Since 2013, Maduro has been at the helm of the once-wealthy petro-state where GDP dropped by 80 percent in a decade, pushing more than seven million of its 30 million citizens to emigrate.

He is accused of locking up critics and harassing the opposition in a climate of rising authoritarianism.

Gonzalez Urrutia had replaced popular Machado on the ticket after authorities loyal to Maduro excluded her from the race.

Machado, who campaigned far and wide for her proxy, had urged voters on Sunday to keep “vigil” at their polling stations in the “decisive hours” of counting amid widespread fears of fraud.

Maduro had previously warned of a “bloodbath” if he loses.

– ‘Prepared to defend’ –

Rejecting opinion polls, the government relied on its own numbers to assert Maduro would defeat Gonzalez Urrutia, a little-known 74-year-old former diplomat.

Maduro counts on a loyal electoral apparatus, military leadership, and state institutions in a system of well-established political patronage.

On Friday, a Venezuelan NGO said Caracas was holding 305 “political prisoners” and had arrested 135 people with links to the opposition campaign since January.

Gonzalez Urrutia had said the opposition was “prepared to defend” the vote and trusted “our armed forces to respect the decision of our people.”

He added there had been a “massive” voter turnout.

The opposition had deployed about 90,000 volunteer election monitors to polling stations countrywide.

Sunday’s election is the product of a mediated deal reached last year between the government and the opposition.

The agreement to hold the vote led the United States to temporarily ease sanctions imposed after Maduro’s 2018 reelection, which was rejected as a sham by dozens of Western and Latin American countries.

However, the sanctions were snapped back after Maduro reneged on agreed conditions.

Washington is keen for a return to stability in Venezuela — an ally of Cuba, Russia and China that boasts the world’s largest oil reserves but severely diminished production capacity.

Economic misery in the South American nation has been a major source of migration pressure on the US southern border.

Most Venezuelans live on just a few dollars a month, with the country’s health care and education systems in disrepair and the population enduring biting shortages of electricity and fuel.

The government blames sanctions, but observers also point the finger at corruption and government inefficiency.

Machado said earlier Sunday that if Maduro “grabs power,” another “three, four, five million” Venezuelans will likely join the exodus.

“What’s at stake here goes beyond our borders, beyond Venezuela,” she said.

Concerns over the fairness of the vote were further stoked when Caracas blocked several international observers, including four Latin American ex-presidents, at the last minute.

The foreign ministers of seven Latin American nations called Sunday for the electoral process to “fully respect the popular will” of the Venezuelan people.

About 21 million Venezuelans are registered as voters, but only an estimated 17 million still in the country are eligible to cast ballots.

Indian TV Station Reports Nigerian Authorities Are Rattled By Planned #EndBadGovernance Protests, Says Wave Spreading Across Africa

The television network stated that youths across Africa are becoming fed up of the situation in the continent and are expressing their cries through protests.

An Indian television, Firstpost has reported the upcoming #EndBadGovernance protest scheduled to hold from August 1 to 10.

The television network stated that youths across Africa are becoming fed up of the situation in the continent and are expressing their cries through protests.

“Now let’s turn our attention to Africa; a wave of protests is spreading throughout the continent. It began in Kenya with protests against their budget, or the finance bill as they call it,” the presenter said.

Then they spread across the border to neighbouring Uganda and now Nigeria is gearing up to become the third protest hotspot. Young Nigerians are preparing to march against the government.

“They plan to hold peaceful protests on the 1st of August and this has scared the Nigerian establishment. The county’s president, Bola Tinubu issued a warning on Monday. He said the protests were the work of some sinister people and he asked Nigerians to not join.

The next day, Nigeria’s police chief joined the chorus; he said the protests were ill-advised and that the police would not sit back and watch.

“Two days later, the Nigerian military chimed in; a military spokesperson said the protests may lead to anarchy. He said the army would not allow Nigeria to spiral out of control. You can see how rattled the authorities are. Every arm of the government is trying to stop the protest and not just with threats.”

While the government has continued to discourage Nigerians from going ahead with the protests, many youths and civil society groups have vowed to go ahead with the planned protests.

Last week, the Nigerian police announced the deployment of 4,200 personnel in the Federal Capital Territory alone in preparation for the protests.

The Nigerian government has however promised to ensure that the rights of protesters are respected. However, it is notorious for violating human rights.

Allegations of government forces killing protesters at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos during the 2020 #EndSARS protests have been persistent, despite initial denials. However, evidence has since confirmed that live ammunition was used, and a recent ECOWAS court ruling has indicted the government for human rights violations, further substantiating the claims.

The Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma, has said that it is not clear what those supporting the forthcoming nationwide protests are protesting for.

Uzodimma also appealed to Nigerians to shelve the planned nationwide protest against President Bola Tinubu-led government slated for August 1 to August 10.

The governor made the appeal after a closed-door meeting with the governors in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to him, it was unwise at this moment in the country for any demonstration by any group.

Uzodimma said people were supporting or instigating groups of people to protest, adding “we don’t know what they are protesting for.’’

“We think it is not wise at this moment for any demonstration by any group of persons be it in whatever guise. This is so that we can manage the challenge of insecurity, the challenge of national minimum wage, the challenge of food security and then the struggle to come out of the current economic recession. We are using this opportunity to also advise our young boys and girls to desist from being instigated into causing crisis or chaos in the country.

“Already, Nigerians have suffered a lot; the global economic recession, the insecurity in Nigeria, the political tension occasioned by instigations and campaign of calumny by opposition parties, the social media attacks on various policies of the government. We want to advise for the interest of the country and as a show of patriotism, our citizens must take ownership of this country because we have no other country we can call our own outside Nigeria”

Uzodimma urged Nigerians to be patient with the government, noting that efforts were underway to ameliorate the economic hardship experienced in the country.

At least 18 people were killed after a small plane skidded off the runway in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu on Wednesday, local officials said.

The pilot, who has been hospitalized, is the sole survivor of the Saurya Airlines crash, said Gyanendra Bhul, a spokesperson for Tribhuvan International Airport. All those on board - 18 Nepalis and a Yemeni citizen - were employees of the carrier, according to police.

Images from Nepal police showed thick smoke billowing from the burning aircraft on the the airport runway.

The aircraft crashed during takeoff from Kathmandu to the city of Pokhara around 11 a.m. local time, Bhul said. The plane was en route for technical maintenance, he added.

“Rescue efforts were started immediately and the situation was brought under control,” the aviation authority said.

The crash once again highlights the dangers of air travel in Nepal, a country often referred to as one of the riskiest places to fly due to multiple factors including its mountainous terrain.

The Himalayan country, home to eight of the world’s 14 highest mountains including Everest, has a record of air accidents. Its weather can change suddenly, and airstrips are typically sited in difficult-to-reach, mountainous areas.

Aircraft with 19 seats or fewer are more likely to have accidents due to these difficulties, according to a 2019 safety report from the Civil Aviation Authority.

While the country has made improvements in safety standards in recent years, challenges remain, and a lack of investment in aging aircraft only adds to the risks of flying.

Last year, Nepal saw its worst plane crash in more than 30 years when at least 68 people died when a Yeti Airlines flight went down near Pokhara.

In May 2022, a Tara Air flight departing from Pokhara crashed into a mountain, killing 22 people.

In early 2018, a US-Bangla Airlines flight from Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka to Kathmandu crashed on landing and caught fire, killing 51 people.

And in 2016, a Tara Air flight crashed while flying the same route as the 2023 crash.
