I remembered when I visited my grandmother in our small village, she dropped some serious wisdom on me. She said "Grandson, one day some people will waste their time reading your comment." Today is that day. |

Many international and popular companies operating in Nigeria have sold their assets to local investors and left the country. The companies waved goodbye after years of playing a major role in employing thousands of Nigerians. Below are the list: - Truworths - Etisalat - ExxonMobil - Tiger Brands - HSBC and UBS - Mr Price Group Ltd - Woolworths - Shoprite - Game - Brunel Services plc - Iberia Airline - InterContinental Hotel Group - GSK; just recently announced their departure. The company's CEOs have stated their reasons for leaving Nigeria, with one saying emphatically that he will not return. Reasons why they are leaving Nigeria No doubts, Nigeria is a very attractive market to invest in Africa due to the large population and also demography. Business Day reports that some of the reasons why companies are leaving Nigeria is majorly foreign exchange. Most companies finds it very difficult to get dollars or other foreign currencies to import goods or machineries. It becomes worse that even after ‘successfully’ doing business in Nigeria, they find it difficult to repatriate proceeds to their home countries. Nairaland forum has always been my favorite place to catch up with some gist and read good constructive analysis on issues from some intelligent folks. But aftermath effect of 2023 elections seems to have brought a lot of hates, tribal, religion abuse; thus making the forum quite discouraging and uninteresting for some persons like me. Recently, when I go through some post, just a scroll and you will see all manner of political, tribal, religion trolls that are not even related to issues of discourse. This is not really the forum I love to enjoy. WHY SO MUCH TROLL ON NAIRALAND FORUM? |

I have been wanting to know the significance of hanging a president and governor's portrait in an office. I know that in government institution, you always see the portrait and even some private firms. Is there a constitutional law that demands firms / companies to do? I'm here to learn please? |

Breaking News: Buhari is suffering from prostrate Cancer says Medical Reports It is has been revealed to NewsDay Reporters that the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the February 14th presidential election is suffering from a prostate cancer, a medical report obtained from Ahmadu Bello Teaching hospital has revealed. According to the medical reports exclusively obtained from the teaching hospital by our team of investigative reporters, a method known as Digital Rectal Examination (DRE) was used in detecting the prostrate cancer clinically. As learnt by our team of investigative reporters, the DRE findings was indicative of prostate cancer, arc; Asymmetry of prostate gland. A nodule, induration of part or whole prostate, Hard or woody consistency of part or all of the prostate, obliteration of the median sulcus in advanced cases, Palpablc seminal vesicles. "The case of Pa Muhammadu Buhari is a serious medical condition as it has gotten to the levels of that of an Elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA)" says the doctor who do not want his name on print for fear of victimisation. According to him, "Pathology tissue biopsy was involved in the diagnosis that produced the results." Prostate cancer as learnt by our team of investigative reporters is the second most common cause of cancer death in men and the number one noncutaneous cancer in men. It is a slow-growing cancer, thousands of men die of the disease each year. Concerns has been continued to be raised on the health conditions of General Muhammadu Buhari over what many may describe as failing health issues. NewsDay Reporters recalls that the former dictator who was visibly looking frail and weak, fell down in a Calabar stadium on 07/01/2015, as a result of fatigue, though his party, APC, claimed it was his long cloths that tripped him. Pa Muhammadu Buhari (73) was also 10 hours late to his campaign in Warri, Delta state, as close Aides complained that “he was so weak this morning and needed medical attention”. The health conditions of general Muhammadu Buhari has continued to be a serious case as most of the Northern leaders are seriously considering renegotiating with President Goodluck Jonathan to continue till 2019 when they will have to field a young and energetic Northern candidate as they try to evade the Yar'Adua scenario from happening again. According to a source, "The North is beginning to rethink the promised support for Buhari in view of reports that he is suffering from a certain ailment which is believed to be wearing him down. There are also reports that the elders are pushing to cut a deal with Jonathan to complete his tenure in 2019 but extract a promise that power would be returned to the North via a younger and energetic Northerner,” the source said. Because according to him “If anything happens to Buhari, power will return to the South-West less than a decade after President Obasanjo left Aso Rock." 10 Things You Didn’t Know About President Jonathan and the Fight Against Corruption 1. He has chosen to fight corruption with good strategies and diligence, not brute force. 2. He will not abuse his powers in order to appear tough on corruption. He believes that following due process while fighting corruption strengthens our institutions 3. He granted the EFCC independence from the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, so it can pursue corruption in the public sector without interference. 4. With smart policies, he has decimated almost 4 decades of fertilizer subsidy fraud, saving N50bn in a single year. 5. He revived the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) to eliminate a major avenue of corruption in the public sector. This has resulted in the elimination of 50,000 ghost workers and N139bn in savings 6. Project Aquila, implemented under President Jonathan, has helped reduced up to 20 million liters a day in PMS subsidy fraud by using technology to track the movement of petroleum products around Nigeria 7. He approved the compulsory retirement of a judge that dismissed a grievous corruption case against a Bank CEO before taking the defendant’s plea 8. He approved the sack of a judge that upheld the results of a fraudulent election in Osun State even though the Judge’s decision had benefitted his own party, PDP. 9. He approved the suspension of a judge that had sentenced a man, convicted of stealing pension funds, to a paltry fine instead of prison. 10. He doesn’t like to make a big show of it, because there is a lot more work to be done, but he is winning the war on corruption.

#CHANGE# The APC has been consistent in saying that the PDP has ruled Nigeria for 16 disastrous years in which corruption, impunity, insurgency, armed robbery and several ills of society held sway. But a very close look at the APC, I am seeing; 1.)Amaechi - 8yrs speaker; 7yrs governor under PDP, 2.) Atiku - 8yrs Vice President under PDP, 3.) Akume -8yrs governor under PDP, 4.) Bukola Saraki - 8yrs governor; 2yrs Senator under PDP, 5.) Timipre Sylver -4yrs governor under PDP, 6.) Audu Ogbe - 2yrs chairman of PDP, 7.)Aminu Masari - 4yrs Reps speaker under PDP, 8.)Chris Ngige - 3yrs governor under PDP, 9.) Kwankwaso - 7yrs Governor, 3yrs Defense minister under PDP, 10.) El-Rufai - 4yrs FCT minister, 2yrs BPE chairman under PDP, 11.) Oyinlola, 7 and half years governor under PDP, 12.) Segun Oni, 3 and half years governor under PDP, And to cap it all they went to OBJ begging, a man who they claimed spent 8 of the disastrous 16 yrs as the maximum ruler of Nigeria to come and lead them on a rescue mission. It is now clearer that APC is a waste basket of the PDP, where the people who created and perpetuated the "16 Disastrous years" are now dumped. Please Nigerians what is the change in this APC? |
