Gentlemen, I am getting disturbed that in this very Niaraland, is the very tendencies that held Nigeria down. If those of us that uses this site cannot see the unsuitabilities which exist in this on line community, then we will never be able to see the bigger issues involved in Nigeria. To start with: this posting is named "The Transformation Of Nigeria, Part III- Lekki Megacity Master Plan (Lagos)". Why was it not named the transformation of Lagos, or the transformation of Lekki? Also why not present the message for what it is: a proposal. Why count our chicken before they are hatched? I bet you so many governors past and present have had such wonderful ideas and master plans that failed to materialise. I do not intend to belittle the good works of Fashola in Lagos by this. A very telling message also is where and how did the poster get the master plan? I bet you the information is not in the public domain? In essence the poster belong to a class a clique with a defined interest. The member and existence of the class/clique may exist in the reality or not. But it exist in his mental state. He sees Fashola as part of his agenda. And his intension here is obviously to make the greatest noise. To attract the biggest audience. So gentlemen, we should be happy to develop every part of Nigeria, Lagos being an important, but let stop deceiving ourselves in arrogating some part of Nigeria as being more Nigeria than others. The very mentality behind this posting, held Nigeria back for ages. This very mentality is the source of our problem as a country. |
KnowAll:How is his cause an Igbo cause? He was responsible for the coup in the North which he executed faithfully. As for the choice of people he worked with, the coup was executed with Hausa soldiers in the North. He was only but the leader. The killing that took place in Lagos was not planned in the making of the coup. They happened out of carelessly and selfish personal agenda on the part of the Lagos boys(Ifeajuna and the rest). Akintola happened to be the only one killed in the west because he opened fire on the coup plotters first. As for the only Yoruba general then who was killed, I doubt if Nzeogwu would have approved of his death. Though the man made himself a tool for the then Government. He lead soldiers to the killing of Tivs during the Tivs uprising; all in an attempt to be made the commander of the army, out of the then three brigadiers. The other Brigadier who happened to come from the North, Malamari was also killed during the coup. His death and that of Belewa is the most regretable event of the coup. Both are core gentlemen on all account. Nzeogwu would not have approved of the killing. Malamari as at then was well respected even by the core of the Igbo Officers. It was based on his recommendation that Ironsi was made head of the Nigerian army. You should also know that it is natural for honest people to be driven more by their ideals than the manipulation of human character. That I call the greatest fault of Nzeogwu. That also accounts for why he failed to take appropriate care during the war that allowed elements from the Biafran army to set him up. Also remember that Nzeogwu did not involve Obasanjo who happened to be his friend in the coup, probably because he knew Obasanjo for being what we have seen him to be today. In coup plotting, as in governance, you must work with people and it is impossible to read people intention with accuracy. Nzeogwu is a pure hero that was let down by people. As for Nzeogwu having an Igbo agenda, you should know that he grow up in the north and having come from the western Igbos would have had more Hausa friends than Igbos from the East. That will probably account for why he was given a national burial in the North even in the midst of the war, by the Nigerian soldiers. You have failed to show me any element of tribalism in his actions. Remember also that whenever there was coup, those at the corridors of power will be at risk. The only Igbo man at the corridor of power then was Azikiwe. I personally suspect that elements of the coup leaked the information to him. I suspect Ifeajuna who I have read in some books is his cousin. I have read that Malamari was killed because the boys were afraid that he will react badly if he finds out the death of an Igbo Cornell called Unegbu. Unegbu happened to be the only Igbo man killed in the coup, but stories has refused tell us this. Because they want us believe it was purely an Igbo coup. Amadu Bello was the main man in that government and there is no way the coup will succeed if he was around. Akintola was a terror in the West. You need to read Ademoya's account on how they ended up killing Belewa unplanned. Do not just conclude based on what they told you or what is easier to believe. Read all sides of the account and find the truth. It all lies in the likes of Ironsi and his Igbo adviser including in particular Ojukwu for mismanaging the coup. They hijacked his coup the way IBB ended up hijacking Buhari's coup. |
I refuse to agree with you. First I can see you do not have enough details of the events to make sounds judgements. I urge you to read 'Why we struck by Ademoyega. I am not sure I got the author's name correct. Nzeogwu by all account was a hero. But he trusted double faced individual like, in particular Major Ifeanjuna. Nzeogwu was only responsible for killing Amadu Bello who happened to be his mentor. It will also do you well to read some account of Nzeogwu's documentation on Amadu Bello. Nzeogwu also was deceived by Ironsi and the likes of Ojukwu. He was only responsible for the execution of the coup in the North which he did faithfully, working with Northern military officers. His friends in the south - Ifeajuna, Ademoyega, Major Okafor and the rest let him down. When Ironsi took over the south with Nzeogwu in the North, the likes of Ojukwu and one of his friend played a role in drawing him into an agreement to hand over power to Ironsi. For want of space, I will not go into details here. But he was arrested at a very odd moment. And the cabals took over. The same Ojukwu denied him any role during the Biafran war because he was afraid of his popularity. And also because the guy as at then believed in the ,as he called it, the uncompleted January coup. Till date there is enough speculation that his death was arraged by elements on the Biafran side. What else do you want from a true HERO. |
As an Igbo boy growing up in the heart of Igbo land, with parent that went through all the pains of Biafra, I had an infinite number of questions. Ojukwu was an instance hero for having the guts to lead us against the advancing enemy – the Hausa. But I have since gone ahead to read so many accounts of the events preceding and after the war. It particularly disturbs me that there exists a fundamental misunderstanding, or intentional misrepresentation of the roles of Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu. I wish I can sit down with the man himself and I ask him some of the questions I want to raise here. But before I proceed, I want to state that this does not in anyway serve as a justification for the war in any way. I detest that the people from the south, most importantly Igbos were killed in so many of the riots in the North prior to the events preceding the war. I saw no justification for the killing. I have some sympathy for the Nzegwo’s coup but would, given the benefits of hindsight, have wished it was executed in a different way. There would have been no need to kill, not especially any of the military officer but one. Belewa from all I have read was a gentleman; his should have been preserved at all cost. But even at that, the North was at fault to have killed ordinary Igbos in retaliation. But how does all these relate to Ojukwu who emerged as the true Hero, or Valiant of the resultant events? Ojukwu, a son of the richest Nigerian of that time; a graduate of the precious history department of Oxford University -the very department that produces most of the world leader; a student of history at a time when military Generals hold sway as heads of states in most South American countries; returned Nigeria after graduation. I read accounts of how Azikiwe in discussion with his father wanted him to join the civil service and grow as an administrator. Also did the father want him to manage his multi-mullion worth business. But he chose to be a military man- a soldier. It was on account he told his father, ‘Dad you made your name through business, I want to make my name in another way’. The father tried to no avail to stop the son, but could not. A very informing question here is what kind of name will a military man want to make for himself at a time when Military general as head of state is a norm in the world, than to be a military head of state? The story was told of one occasion when the military boys were discussing within themselves sometime in the 1960s before the war, and Ojukwu raised a question:’ If there is to be a disagreement between the President (Azikiwe) and the Prime Minister(Belewa) , who will we (the military) take orders from ?’. This was a serious constitution question given the setting in a parliamentary government as existed then. But it also is a pointer to advance mind of Ojukwu then and also most importantly to the reading of that mind. Gowon then reported him the senior British officers and the issues was resolved as a mere academic constitutional exercise. During the Nzegwo’s coup, Ojukwu refused to play a straight card with the coup leaders. He was not against them. He also did not come in support. That was how he emerged as Governor of the then Eastern region with the betrayal meted to Nzegwo (I do not want to go into details of the betrayal here). Prior to the counter coup of July 1966, Igbos have 70% of senior military Officers in Nigeria who are fully aware of the plot of the counter coup by Muritala. I also want to believe they are fully aware of Muritala’s intention to secede the North out of Nigeria. My question is: Why did the Igbo officer fail to stop the 1966 Muritala coup? The answer seem to be because they were setting Muritala up to take the North out of Nigeria and provide an Avenue for Ojukwu to achieve his life ambition( remember he want to the military to make his name as he told his father). By the time the British intervened to change Muritala secession intention, Ojukwu has no option than to declare Biafra and the Igbos having suffered enough from the riots in the North has no option than to jump into the wagon. Also remember that people like Nzegwo was made redundant in the Biafran army for no other reason other than to keep him within control. He was more popular within the ranks than Ojukwu and was fully in support of the uncompleted January 1966 coup as they called it. See how an individual ambition played into the hands of events and reduced my people the Igbos into the poor state we are in today. This does not in any way serve for the justification of some deplorable actions of the federal soldier and the government towards Igbos. At the end of the day, the past is gone. Let us move forward |
olanajim:Interesting argument with an interesting language. So who delegated Tobi? Or from your language who elected him? He can at best be said to be derive his authority from the power granted him by the military. This leaves us with only your second argument. Which form of legitimacy can the military acquire from illegitimacy other than the "legitimacy of coercion". Does this equate to legitimacy in law. I am not a lawyer and will invite lawyers to guide us here. How can what they wrote be binding until someone else change it, as you wrote? Your choice of words, until someone else change it, is a dangerous pointer to your subconscious acceptance of any imposition. You accept someone else; an individual to have the ability to change a document that can serve as supreme constitution for Nigeria. I will tell you that it is only the Nigeria people through referendum, delegation, election or any other form of representation, that have the ability to decides on how we can be governed. It is called an inalienable right. To deny this is to deny the very essence of our being humans. To deny this is to reduce us to mere biological being with no essence to our lives. |
This should not serve in any way, as a support for Biafra as was constituted in 1967 or as being propagated by the present Biafran activist. But if the truth must be told, Nigeria does not have a constitution since we the People of Nigeria never agreed to the 1999 constitution. The instruments of imposition imposed a document on us in the name of constitution. This is a big mistake just as most of their acts have always been. But this should not call for the dissolution of Nigeria into any other multiple entity like Biafra. even Biafra has never had a constitution. What they had then was an imposition born out of Ojukwu's manipulation. Also Never has the Yorubas, the Hausa or even any other tribe or group in Nigeria at any time agreed to be a nation. In essence, if Nigeria cannot be due to invalid constitution, no other entity can. Our best option remains to fashion out the best we can out of Nigeria as presently constituted. All we want is to be equal citizens. For all to be allowed to achieve their potential; ones tribe, religion not withstanding. We the people of Nigeria wants to be allowed to within ourselves decides on how we should be governed. |
PeeDaVinci:Has Obasanjo ever won any election in Nigeria? Why will you accept the deceit as orchestrated by the rogues as election? In the context that you choose to talk, If there is a selection (as was done in 2003 and 2007) Yaradua will win Both Obasanjo and Atiku hands down. They are both inconsequential. They used instruments of government to rig themselves in during both 2003 and 2007. The instrument of coercion is today out of their reach - hence their powerless. Obasanjo in particular lack the quality of hangers on that we can attribute to Atiku. So Atiku will be a better noise maker while Obasanjo at best remains an unpopular thief. Also you failed to note that their is enough material at the disposal of Yaradua to send both Obasanjo and Atiku to jail; and this will be his cheapest way to gain popularity. But on a very serious note, why will you as an individual created with an inviolable right to choose your leader by God subsume your interest to the chargrins of these irresponsible three. What will you tell the generations after you? By the next election we the people of Nigerians will rise to put a stop to these mess. Get ready to contribute your quota. |
I tell you guy one thing? If all that has made nice comment here will stand to be counted in stopping, not only these two, but all of their likes from playing with out lives; we will win. We are still in our youths, I suppose with no prejudice to older people. We still have a future to work for, and some children to work for. What does it take to stop then - little - just courage. It will never come without a fight. But the fight does not have to involve blood. It only involves peaceful disobedience to all of their agents of oppression- the police and the army(if they choose not to be on the side of the Nigerian masses). All we need is a leader we can trust. A leader that can stand and urge us forward. And it is as easy as no one can think of. I repeat it is as easy as none of us will ever imagine. I know all the rogues in Nigeria are cowards. It takes a cowards to be a rogue in the first place. Let ask our selves, when are we going to be ready. We are not only moving for the fate of Nigeria, We need to move for the fate of blackmen - our race. It is only when Nigeria is in order that those of us abroad will be accorded equal respect as is done to other races in the world other than the black man. The fight should not be seen as a business of those that are in the country but the business of all that is black, for in this lies our fate. |
Select * from TableName order By rand() limit 50 I have a serious issue with these. Order By does not serve that purpose at all. If I understood his question correctly, he just wanted to select 50 random columns. Order by refers to columns and I even doubt id you can use numerals to order table selections. You can only use column names. How will the rand() generate column names. It can only generate numerals. I suggest that he should look at the unique ids of the rows and if they are numerals then he should use the where clause and tie the rand() in generating the ids, something like Select * from TableName where id funtion rand() limit 50; The function should be thought out in such a way that the table can generate up to 50 rows at a time |
Their is little to understand in the code. It is not even a code. It is just a sketch and a well written algorithm is better than that. All they did is to show you an idea of how their system works. The variables they expect from you and the variables they can send to you. I think the problem will be more of, do with you having a full knowledge of how your site works. And what you will want to do. The PHP code should be something as close as shown below. Just come up with your full algorithm and I can write down the code for you. As for full understanding/Designing your site and the whole algorithm, you need to employ a capable hand or pay for it. <?php Just capturing variables from the form here using php syntax $transId = $_POST["transaction_id"]; $payee = $_POST["payee_account"]; $amount = $_POST["amount"]; $payer = $_POST["payer_account"]; $batch_id = $_POST["batch_id"]; $gtHash =$_POST["gt_hash"]; $merchant_verification_code = "myverificationcode"; //replace with your verification code $mdofvc = md5(""&$merchant_verification_code&"" ;//'step 3 - ensure that the amount posted is actually the amount expected for that transaction. Here will involve some thoughts on how your algorithm will work 'if it is not if ($amount <> " amount expected to be involved in this transaction" {echo"Invalid tansaction cost " }else{ 'if step 3 is true ie amount is amount for that transaction, move on to step 4 or else 'step 4 - calculate gt_hash and compare with netnaira's. calculated_gt_hash = md5(""&transId&":"&payee&":"&amount&":"&payer&":"&batch&":"&mdofvc&"" ![]() if (calculated_gt_hash = gtHash){ //'complete the order at your end update database, store tansaction as successful echo("success" ![]() //success must be written to screen for funds to be debited from the buyers account }else //'if not the same echo"GtHash values did not match " } end if ?> |
In this age, this very day that in far away United States of America, a formerly unknown young man, rose out of sheer hard work to become the first Black President. This very day, we stand here discussing about two corrupt, moral bankrupt old men. We called them leaders because they have misused enough of our time and stolen enough of our resources as a nation to fill their pockets. We forget about the denial of our basic right to choose our leaders by these very individuals, both in 2003 and 2007. We forgot the morbid revelations of stolen billions from the power probe; from their correspondences about the Petroleum trust fund. We find it difficult to imagine the generations wasted in pursuit of the 2003 and 2007 election; the several killed, the several wounded; the laws broken; the constitutions manipulated; the opportunities denied. We find it difficult to appreciate that, eight good years both of our national life and individual life have been wasted by these very individuals. That these very individuals doctored our supreme document the constitution – the electoral act; Obasanjo proposed to call it the printer’s devil, if caught – the biggest desecration of the very essence of our nationhood. The very document upon which the blood of million both on the defunct Biafran Side and the Nigerians was wasted to Protect. Without this Document; I ask what is the basis for our Nationhood? Are we nation made for rogues to be able to thrive? Are we not as human as other people of other races? Can we not as a people, as a race be allowed to organize ourselves? Do we not deserve our own Nationhood; our own country? If we do and Nigeria choose not to be a nation, let the constitution be shredded; a document that can be tampered in the middle of the night, in the darkest of the corners is worth only an ordinary paper. A nation that calls such document a constitution is worth not to be. So is the gravity of the offence that these two men committed. Which offence can be more than that? Several have been killed in the name of defending this nation. Millions were wasted, I repeat during the war, thousand for coup plotting – the Nzegwos, Dimkas, Maman Vastas, Orkas; yet the crime of these two old men in manipulating the constitution is equal in its threat to our nationhood. I propose they are also as good for the Gallows; but who can pull the trigger? Where are the brave men? Where are the brave judges to pass the sentence? A land in need of men of courage! |
