1. Amala Shitta, Surulere

It is also known as 306 Amala spot. This legendary joint remains the best place to get amala and abula (ewedu, gbegiri and obe elépo) in Surulere. The joint has been satisfying the never-ending hunger for delicious amala since 1967. It remains one of the oldest amala joints in Nigeria.

2. White House, Yaba

This world famous canteen is located in the Yaba, the leading startup hub in the Lagos. The building as the name implies is painted white. White House serves a variety of local delicacies which include amala, pounded yam, fufu, jollof and white rice with assorted and bush meats.

3. Yakoyo, Ilupeju

Yakoyo is located along Ikorodu road in Ilupeju. It has no sign post to indicate its location; but it is so popular in the area that even a baby in the mother’s womb can show you its direction. Like they say 'just follow the scent, you can't miss it'.

4. Olaiya Food Canteen, Surulere

It is located in Surulere, few meters away from the popular Amala Shitta. The restaurant is fully-air conditioned with a backup generator to ensure there is no disruption to the foodie experience. This business has two branches at the University of Lagos.

5. Defence Car Park Canteen, Marina

It is located in the heart of the ever busy Marina area of Lagos Island. It got its name First Bank Amala because of its proximity to First Bank headquarters. You will find the efficiency of the staff impressive; quick table turnaround to keep the hungry crowd moving. Amala with Gbegiri, Ewedu and assorted meat is highly recommended.

7. Amala Yahoo, Ogudu

Amala Yahoo is a must-visit for the very best of amala and assorted meats. It is located in the Ogudu area of Ojota. The eating space is not very much but you are sure to be treated to an unforgettable experience. It got the name Yahoo based on its popularity among ‘Yahoo Boys’. It is believed that most ‘Yahoo Boys’ in that axis patronise this spot.

8. Saudi Food Palace, Bariga

Saudi Food Palace started as a street hawking business before transforming to a full road side canteen now located at New Garage (Iyana-Oworo) in Bariga. The service can be a bit slow sometimes but food is always on point. It entertains an average of 100 customers daily.

9. Iya Sulaiman, Ilupeju

This is another second-generation run amala spot which specializes only in amala, pounded yam, eba and fufu. But it is more popular for its amala. Even though it was established four years ago, it is attained for itself an iconic status in Ilupeju. The joint entertains an average of 50-70 customers per day.

10. Amoke Oge Food Canteen, Bariga

Amoke Oge is a famous joint on Bawala Street in Bariga that has been providing culinary satisfaction for the past three years. It is actually known for its Amala/ewedu and rice/black pepper stew dishes. You will learn to close your eyes while drawing brokotor with your teeth.

Kai!! This thread just made me Nostalgic, i remember what i went through with my Ex who goes through 'very' painful menstruation, whenever her period is approaching i start preparing myself 'mentally' and 'physically'.
