Biggest congrats leleti. So happy for you. I tap into grace o. I'm using Dr. Tate and Emory too. Been seeing him for 4weeks now and I'm die any moment. The guy's got really great reviews. Happy you liked and use him. Did he make it on time to deliver your baby? Will like to contact you via pm. Congrats again. leleti: Hello good people.....so had my precious bundle on the 24th of October in Emory University Midtown Hospital Atlanta. Was initially meant to use Dr Andrews and Northside, but due to my leg cast (it extends from thigh to toes) every single obgyn I talked to in Atlanta recommended a section at 39 weeks. I'm all for taking medical advice but I felt I could do a VD. so my host asked me to contact one Dr Joseph Tate.Apparently he is the VBAC guru of atlanta.Sent him a mail explaining my medical and gynaecological history. He replied immediately- it would be uncomfortable, he would prepare for an emergency CS, but he saw no reason why we shouldn't try.Met him a week later.Hes a nice little man, very full of jokes.not everyone's cup of tea I guess but we hit it off immediately and I felt comfortable in my decision. My family and hosts changed me to constant prayer point o.Fear was catching them. Me I just dey gentle and watched plenty Netflix and ate plenty food, exercised with my walking frame and waited for labor.Labor was......suffice to say I delivered like a Hebrew woman as my mama will say. Started having contractions in the morning, irregular and not painful so thought It was BH. Then around 5pm got more painful, still irregular. My host was in church, called and she rushed home.called Dr tates office.Contractions got very hard and fast in the car.Got to the hospital by 7pm, entered the delivery suite by 7.20- slight drama ensued when the registration desk was dilly dallying and I announced I would have my baby right there. Delivered baby by 7.40.no epidural, no time to worry about my leg. Cost breakdown so far Dr fee- 1500 after 35 weeks,2000 before 35 weeks Tests- 100 accepts naija tests Hospital- 3900 inclusive of paediatrician in hospital, hearing test, pku Starting documentation next week.Atl mamas show me the way o God has been sooooooo faithful to me. My host has been AWESOME. |

Thank you so much @firsttymum and @tolulope9009. I trust u guys are right. Just checked and spoke to a few doctor friends of mine. Ese pupo tolulope9009: I believe firsttymmum is right.. reason being that fansidar has this side effect- jaundice in the baby especially in the last few weeks of pregnancy because of its Sulphur component. Moreso, it isn't a routine drug; preferably taken in the late first and second trimester (meaning two doses in the entire 10months of pregnancy) as prophylaxis against malaria. |
Travel › Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by gold638: 6:16pm On Oct 19, 2016 |
Hmm.....not sure thats totally correct cos it is part of my antenatal drugs and was scheduled for me to use once every month until October. I'm due early November. Unfortunately, I didn't bring it along with me to Yankee hence d reason I asked on this thread. Any particular reason u mentioned it is not supposed to be used after 36wks?? @firsttymum firsttymum: Hmmm fansidar isn't used after 35 to 36 weeks o... So I suggest u demand for something else. |

Hello guys. Time to share my POE experience. Got into Atlanta with my mum on Tuesday, Oct 4 via Qatar airline. I could see God at work all through the journey from naija to Atlanta. Was favoured at Lagos airport And trip to Doha was smooth and uneventful. Lodged at the airport hotel during the 9hrs layover time. Upon boarding for the Atlanta leg, I was asked if I required a wheel chair in Atlanta, I said no, that I'd be able to walk on my own.journey was long but smooth. Had a lot of empty seats so was able to stretch my legs and sleep comfortably. By the time we landed, I was told that a wheelchair was provided for me. I told them I didn't request for it. I was however still given one ooooo. Guess it was all God's plan sha. Anyways, was wheeled to the CBP officer after using the self service machine. Jumped the queue cos of the wheelchair. I was asked a few questions which I answered truthfully: my purpose in US, why I chose to have my baby in US, how much I had on me, what my hospital fee was (he didn't believe the amount I told him and he asked for the invoice from the hospital which I provided), where I worked and what I did in Nigeria. Spent less than 5mins with him and was stamped in until April 2017. Went to agriculture for clearance and nothing was seized. Infact luggage was not even opened sef. In all, I give all glory to God. Now lounging and waiting for my doctor's appointment next week.
FOREX is still a huge challenge as I could only get $3k. Glad I was able to pay hospital fee via form A though before leaving naija. Shuttling between different cards right now before DH joins me.
Thanks everyone for all the info provided on this platform. Wishing everyone a successful POE experience. |

Thanks slot. Will do exactly that Dwebb55: You'll most likely need all 3(fit to fly from Dr, filled medif form and port health). Note that you'll need to submit first 2, 48hrs prior to your departure and their calculation of weeks is different. For them 32 weeks is 31wks+1day, so be guided. You can't fly with them after 35 weeks ie 34wks+6days! |
Travel › Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by gold638: 9:29pm On Sep 26, 2016 |
You are the best. Thank you so much for the info. Will follow up with my doctor. bouqounmie: The MEDIF form is required if u're traveling above 33wks for an uncomplicated singleton pregnancy, above 28wks for multiple pregnancy. And u're required to submit latest 48hrs before ur flight. There's a fit to fly on their website that your doctor will sign if u're travelling before 33wks but they will still insist on port health fit to fly sha. Had all three filled out (fit to fly from doc, medif and porthealth) and traveled at 32wks, but only d photocopies of d porthealth were collected and that was what i presented throughout my flight. Hope this helps. |

Hello house. Pls, for those who have flown Qatar airways, where they strict on the fit to fly? If yes, was it the letter ftom your doctor or from port health that was requested? Also, the medif form on their site, was that useful? |

Oh OK. Thank you so much for the response. Really helpful SlowlybtSurely: You will have to use a dollar dominated debit/credit card.
When you pay for more than one month, a month's rent will be deducted from your account and the rest will be deducted at the expiration of your one month stay.
I haven't had any problems with the site, so i would say they are tested and trusted. |

Hello house. Thanks @firstymum for suggesting airbnb for my accommodation option. Quick one though. For those who have booked accommodation via airbnb, how did u make payments considering the forex limit on Nigerian debit cards? Also, did you book and pay for your entire stay at once? And is the site tested and trusted? Una no go blame me for all my questions ooo. Na hard earned money we wan spend so due diligence is very important. Thanks guys. |

OMary83: For the accomodation, it's actually a big 3 bedroom flat that comes with swimming pool and gym. It goes for 2500 per month. Three, two or even four people can combine and take it as the living room is equally big. It's available from 1st July. Pls if you are interested, get people to share with and reach out to me asap. I am only assiting as I know this our forex regime is not smilling at all.

I've PMed the listed people up there pls reply my pms. I've called the hosp tired and I'm tired of transferring my calls but to no avail. I'll appreciate your kind gestures so I can save some precious dollars by using LA cos their price is cheaper compared to the hosp I have already. Thanks in anticipation. I'm sure the details for this hospital and doc is over flogged on this thread. However, You'd need to contact Dr. M's secretary. She'd send you details of both the doc and hospital fees. I didn't have to call the hospital directly. Hospital and doctor might be cheap but it's very important you consider accommodation cost as that can be pricey before you conclude on LA Waka. I'm still in search of that. |

thanks for the info... I'm hoping the accommodation will still b available by early October *wink* najalady86: Hi beautiful people, Got a lot of PMs regarding my last post and replying all will be kinda tasking as most people are asking similar question. Hope I can share the details here? for the hospital and Dr., i have already shared it in the past. It's St. Francis hospital and Dr. M The 2700 you pay hospital covers all services recieved in the hospital including hearing test. You also get a complementary toddler stroller. Circumcision was ok but they left a little bit more fore skin than our naija Doctors would normally leave. My baby's Dr. back home here says its ok though.
For the accomodation, it's actually a big 3 bedroom flat that comes with swimming pool and gym. It goes for 2500 per month.
