I have to respectfully disagree. It’s easy to make sweeping statements about what churches don’t do, especially if you’ve only seen one narrow expression of church. But that’s far from the full picture.

At my church The Leading Edge Christian Centre, In Akesan Igando, we are deeply committed to both spiritual and practical development—especially for the next generation.
Every Saturday, we host hundreds of children and teenagers for a vibrant, hands-on learning experience. We don’t just teach Bible stories—we teach real life skills like:

• Public speaking
• Basic financial literacy
• Conflict resolution
• Time management
• Emotional intelligence
• Leadership and teamwork
• Digital skills

This isn't hypothetical. We do this week after week, investing in the total development of our young people.
And every year, we run an intensive entrepreneurship program called the Acceleration Academy. It’s not a seminar—it’s a structured, practical learning environment where young adults are trained to turn ideas into businesses. They learn:

• Business planning
• Product development
• Marketing and branding
• Pitching to investors
• And yes, how to make a real profit with integrity

Many of our participants go on to launch viable ventures—some are even employing others now. This is happening inside a church.
So no, church is not a waste of time—at least not if you’re part of a church that understands its mission is bigger than just Sunday sermons. At Leading Edge Christian Centre, we believe in building up the whole person, not just their spiritual life.

Life skills? We teach them. Every week.

And i believe there are other churches out there who do same, the instruments you can play i wonder where you learn it too

1. The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon (Frequency Illusion): When you notice something, your brain starts to recognize it more often, creating the illusion that it's appearing more frequently.

2. Confirmation Bias & Selective Attention: Your brain is wired to notice things that confirm your existing thoughts or interests. When you think about something, you become more aware of related information online.
